Heertje Friet

The fries are great!! The best French fries I’ve ever had tried in my life. The toppings are tasty and the size is good.

The food was excellent! It started raining while we were inside, and the place quickly filled up. I’d love to go back and try their burgers.

Service was good and quick. They made the fries fresh and they were nice and crispy when they came out. We got the garlic sauce it was okay. Nothing special but the fries were good. We got the large and it was a huge portion we split it between three people. There were a few different sauce options so that was cool. The place was very clean and they had a cooler filled with drinks.

I know this place since 2022 , but unfortunately these days because of TikTok and everything these small businesses are getting overwhelmed….. it’s a good spot but should me limited sometimes , and their fries are much better than the trendy ones

We had the truffle mayo and parmesan cheese fries and it was delicious and rich and the staff are friendly. Minimum seating good to eat as you walk along the canal.

Had Friet Atelier before trying this and they’re totally different level. The fries are so dry and hard while the sauce is too little for a portion. Not friendly service even no queue. Will not come back again.

Came across this while at Lourens! Decided to give them a shot later and have to say I really liked the fries. Got the large option with the Samurai sauce and it was really good. The sauce was perfectly balanced in terms of spiciness. The quantity was also quite a lot! Easily shareable between 2-3 people!

Pretty tasty fries with special sauces. The fries are fat, and still crispy on the outside. I got the small with curry sauce and it hit the spot!

This place is small and there was a little line but was well worth the wait!! But honestly we didn't wait more than 15min and on top of that we were able to find seating inside just make sure you're ready to be close to people because there's not much room. Overall these fries were everything I wanted and more! So delicious!!

This place serves Dutch french fries seasoned with unknown spices and found everywhere in Amsterdam. Today we were on the Amsterdam Food and Culture Walking Tour and this place Heertje Friet was our last food stop before dessert. The potatoe sticks were laying on the top shelf above the fryers waiting to be purchased by hungry customers. The potatoes were fried up and placed into a hand held paper cup made for take away. There were only two thin bar tops for eating inside but most people walked and ate. They also provide a side sauce for dipping which consisted of curry, honey, mayo and sugar, which enhanced the taste of the potatoes. In addition to the potatoes, we had an order of the fried meatballs which we dipped in spicy mustard - beware, these balls were super hot and will burn your tongue.

Compared to the "best frites in Amsterdam" (name of place withheld) this place, to my palette, blows it out of the water. I did arrive very close to closing and the frites were on the harder/overdone side, but I still found it to be more to my liking. The pepper mayo really hit the spot as well. Prices very reasonable! It's a bit farther away from the main tourist centre, so that's probably why. A much more pleasant potato experience. But then again, come on guys, they're just fries.

I'm in potato heaven. Loved these big potato sticks with the curry honey sauce. The sticks were gently covered with some kind of spice, maybe salt. Also tried the fried meatballs which were ok but nothing like the potatoes. The logo on the store was a box of potatoes sticking up from the top. These potato stores are everywhere in Amsterdam but this one was unique that it was right on the canal with great views.

Customer service was very rude and the fries were just ok. I wanted to try a competitors fries to Fabel Friet but they just didn't live up to the hype. Firstly I was overcharged for two sets of fries because the cashier was rushing everyone's orders and not listening. The store wasn't even that crowded. I ended up with the fries with Belgian mayo and a minced meat croquette. The croquette was good and the mustard gave it good flavor but the fries were a bit underwhelming. They lacked flavor and just didn't hit the spot.

I was exploring the canals, enjoying myself, and I kept seeing people walking around with a cute little cone-shaped carton of fries. I was already hungry, so the visuals made me nearly ravenous! I was determined to figure out what the smiles of satisfaction on their faces was about. The line was long, but moved quickly. The best thing or novelty, if you will, about these fries are the plethora of options for sauce. There's a long list of sauces on the wall inside. After enjoying my first try with curry ketchup. I decided to go back the next day and try them with truffle mayo. Both times were spectacularly delicious! I'm talking about finger-licking good. If I had to choose, I'd say the truffle mayo topping beat the curry ketchup. Oh yeah, the sauces are a la carte. It's a quick, convenient snack. There's a counter inside, but no seating. It's not really that type of place to sit down. Most people waited inside for their order and then stand outside to chow down or simply keep going about their day. I will absolutely be back next time I am in amsterdam!

As recommended by a canal tour guide, a local favorite. No need to go to the places with long lines just bc they're trending.

This was the best fries that I've had in Amsterdam! I liked that the sauces came in a tub instead of drizzled on top. And I liked the addition of the cheese. Yum! Will be back!

We spotted a number of these "frites" places around Amsterdam including one that had lines so long that they had crowd control police since the lines crossed streets! This place recommended by our tour guide was busy but not that insane. I ordered a small serving since we were soon going to have dinner. There was a bit of a wait despite the fact that you could see all of the fries were already cooked. Anyway the small serving size was a nice portion. I got my frites with a truffle mayo sauce. They were very good - hot and crispy. No soggy fries here.

Clean and bright. We were hungry and wanted to try some more traditional Dutch treats. Went for the frites with mayonnaise and the bitterballen. Both were hot, fresh and tasty great! Washed it down with a cold Heineken. Great food, only wish they had a place to sit down, but we ate at the counter.

The staff were welcoming and nice. I had an order of bitterballen that was quite good. I think most people come here for the fries, but I didn't try them. They had a small AC unit which was refreshing. Prices were reasonable.

Tried the fries with sauce. Queue line wasn't too bad but did have to wait 10 minutes for food. Would recommend - flavors were pretty good and fries were hot and crispy and fresh. Do expect a bit of a wait. There is some standing counter space inside and some spare seating outside.

Delicious bitterballen and fries!! It was crowded but fast moving and very tasty! We came as part of a food tour and I would love to go back and try more.

Walked by this place on my way to the Anne Frank house. Decided to stop by for a snack. The line moves very fast despite there being a line. I got a small fries with the friet sauce and the truffle mayo. I personally liked the friet sauce better, but I think next time I'd ask for the sauce on the side cause it made the fries soggy and I like picking how much sauce I put on my fries. Highly recommend!

The fries start off crispy and stay that way as they cool. Sauces are ace: truffle and mustard mayo were the tastiest . We got xxl fries with 3 sauces but could have used a fourth. Gent behind the counter looks like Scully's baby daddy from Sex Education--zaddy!

This is a great spot not too far from the Anne Frank Museum to eat fries with various sauces. The fries are not too greasy. One thing to note: if you don't want them soggy, ask for the sauce on the side. They also have bitterballen, frikandel, and croquettes. The curry chicken croquette was quite tasty. Space is small so seats are limited. Come tables outside facing the canal. Takes cards.

Not sure if this is a tourist thing or not, but these were pretty damn good. Got them with the Belgium Mayo, which was great. Fried really well, tasted fresh. Long line!

Amsterdam is known for its fries. However, as a tourist it's always hard to find a really good place that sells them. Luckily I was able to find one by walking around where I found Heertje Friet. There fries is so delicious. Friendly staff and fast service. No place to set inside, but it could be the best fries you could have in Amsterdam. Prices are very reasonable.

Amazing fries with delicious sauces on top! The best thing I ate in Amsterdam! We went back several times during our short visit. Service is fast and efficient and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend to anyone who loves fries like I do!

We accidentally stumbled upon this place and our hungry bellies guided us in. Well, we were overwhelmingly surprised by how fresh and delicious the Friets here were!!! I think we spent 10 euro on our 2 large cones with sauce? Super fair price, in our opinion. We actually ended up trying other Friet places too and were disappointed by them. Heertje Friet easily stood out as the best ones. Don't miss this place when in Amsterdam!!!

Walking the streets over canals and started to crave a snack. A classic dutch snack seemed in order. Crowds of people were milling about the entrance of Heertje Friet. Ok, I am in to give it a try. Its your classic fries with a variety of sauces. They also have croquettes, but I was all about the fries. Stood in line and waited to place my order. Should I get the truffle mayo, cheese sauce, basil mayo, harissa mayo, sriracha mayo, etc. I went with the classic sauce. Fries were piping hot, crispy and served in paper cup with the sauce on top. Perfect for takeaway and continuing exploration of the city.

Bitterballen is the thing to try in Netherlands and what better place to try them than Heertje Friet. I got the beef order which comes in 6 and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. At first glance it looks like a falafel and you can break them open and the meaty gravy like substance is really tasty. We ordered a small fry with curry sauce (I wasn't a fan) but you can most definitely use the sauce in the bitterballen for the fries. The mustard sauce that comes with the fries is pretty standard but not my fave. The outdoor seats weren't on level ground so be aware your drinks and food might fall off the table! Also a great view of the canal!

Yummy! The fries are delicious and the sauces we tried were as well. It's a cute little corner shop that uses fresh potatoes. I highly recommend.

Super delicious, freshly cut and cooked fries. I stopped in to grab a snack and a water. The guy was really friendly and even let me record him cutting potatoes and he told me about the business. My fries did not last long. I got the garlic sauce topping. So good!!! Try this place out!

When in Amsterdam, Frites are everywhere. Everywhere. Everywhere. But THIS is THE spot. Best Frites. Best condiments. Just do yourself a favor and get some. And don't order the small portion... go Large or XXL. And share. Yes. I know it's fried... Pffft. Some things are worth it.

I ate A LOT of pommes while visiting Amsterdam, but these were definitely my favorite out of them all! They came out hot and fresh, and the sauces were so yummy. I wish I could have them back home in California!
