Find an Exclusive Supper Club at Heights House Hotel in Raleigh’s Boylan Heights - Eater Carolinas

"Last Monday, in the modern-meets-historic dining room of the Heights House Hotel, 24 friends and strangers gathered over plates of lemony handmade pasta, fork-tender short ribs, and velvety chocolate budino served in vintage teacups. A few short hours later another group of 24 repeated the process, filling the Italianate mansion formerly known as Montfort Hall with an old-fashioned dinner party refreshed for the 21st century." - Matt Lardie

We had the pleasure of occupying the Heights House for the entire weekend with friends and family for a wedding. I must say - we had an absolutely amazing stay at this charming boutique hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Every detail - from the beautifully designed rooms to the thoughtful amenities - reflected a genuine commitment to guest comfort. A special thank you to the incredible team for their warmth, professionalism, and personalized service that truly made our experience unforgettable. I personally would love to give an extra special shout out to Anna for all of her help in getting anything we needed before our welcome party, wedding, and throughout the weekend. And I would love to give an extra, extra, extra shout out to Mindy - she truly went above and beyond looking after everyone at Heights House - whether it be refreshing drinks, preparing food, picking up after us, and getting me stickers :) she truly was a delight to spend the weekend with! Thank you Heights House for an amazing and unforgettable weekend, we look forward to returning in the future.

Staying at the Heights House was a lovely experience. It was very clean, welcoming, cozy, and overall, just a beautiful place to stay. The room I stayed in felt very relaxing, and I absolutely loved the light controls! Exploring the hotel and learning its history was very fascinating. The library was probably my favorite room there, as the shelves displayed a neat collection of historical items and showcased beautiful art. In addition, I was a fan of the basement, which functions as a vintage/antique shop. The cafe was a lovely place to visit also. The rose tea was excellent! Lastly, and the most important aspect of the stay, everyone was incredibly nice. The staff was so welcoming and kind. They helped my family and I find food places, gave us a free tour of the house, answered any questions, and even sent us home with some extra chocolate. It was an absolute pleasure to stay at the Heights House. I hope to visit again sometime and encourage people to do the same. It’s very cool being able to stay in such a historical place. Dryad the dragon loved it too!

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay at Heights House! Everything was so clean, organized, and well thought of. They took note of every detail- from having non dairy milks at breakfast for your coffee, offering ice cold sparkling waters upon arrival, and more. Mindy was incredibly kind when we checked in and she got us snacks and drinks immediately which was amazing after an overnight flight!

A 6 Star Stay in a 5 Star World If you are the kind of person who sends in an absurdly specific hotel room request as a joke, and then finds that every detail, even a message written on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker, is magically granted by the universe, Heights House Hotel is your people. I asked for a room that was cold, smelled like cedar, and felt like it belonged to someone who can light a campfire and tie a proper tie. What I got was thoughtful, cozy, and spot on. The temperature was just right. The TV was set to something I’d actually watch. And the message on the mirror? A small, perfect touch that genuinely made my morning better. The staff? Warm. Thoughtful. Clearly blessed with a sense of humor and a commitment to delight that is rare in hospitality. Heights House did not just meet expectations. It created an experience I’ll be talking about for a long time.

We had the best time staying at the beautiful Heights House Hotel. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The exterior grounds and interior design is absolutely gorgeous and at the same time very comfortable. It felt like home. Loved every moment of our stay !!

We came to Heights House for “Saint” Mindy Sopher’s retirement afterparty, and it was such a sweet, memorable night. The space is cozy, intimate, and full of charm—perfect for gathering. Charity and Donnie took amazing care of us all evening. The drinks were on point, the charcuterie board was beautiful, and the date-sweetened honey lavender chocolate? Unreal. Just a lovely place with even lovelier people.

As a local wedding photographer, I absolutely adore Heights House! Such a gorgeous building with Historic charm and beautiful grounds. The staff members were great and there are so many beautiful spaces for photos throughout. Highly recommend hosting your wedding/event at this stunning hotel + how convenient is it that you can stay in one of the stunning suites onsite?!

Yelp
The first thing to say about this is that you will be massively impressed at every turn with the job they have done in restoration, renovation, and design. Everything is lovely and though it is all modern and sleek, it still feels fitting for the original era of the house. The cocktail area takes up most of the main floor, with a stand-up bar just off the entryway with a few tables and then a larger lounging area with sofas and chairs just beyond. The drinks are exceptionally good, and the spirits menu is creative. They also offer a few small plates. There is plenty of paved parking immediately next to the hotel for guests only, so that is not a hassle as it can be at some B&B/inn-type establishments. At check-in, you are offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to set the tone. The rooms are comfortable, but I will say that the entry-level ones are quite small (which is apparent on the website), but for the rates charged there isn't even a place to sit and read a book other than the bed. There's one small, delicate wicker chair that would be for tying shoes or whatever, but not lounging. The bed is luxuriously dressed, and there is drawer space and a minifridge, but no closet -- hanging items can go on hooks by the door out in the open. The bathroom is spacious enough, with a broad sink and elegant tilework. The lighting fixtures throughout are nifty. I found the breakfast sort of average for this type of place. I came later on, so perhaps there is more earlier, but there were a few pastries, some hard-boiled eggs, and fruit when I arrived. There's also a fancy coffee-drink contraption, but those aren't my thing so I left that alone. It's a very easy walk across the Boylan Bridge and down a couple of blocks to the area of the Dillon with several restaurants, and the performing arts center is not far beyond that. Location-wise, there's plenty that's walkable but also more an easy drive away.

Yelp
Montfort Hall, originally owned by William Montfort Boylan and changing hands several times since has been fully restored into one gorgeous boutique hotel and event space. The centerpiece of the house's interior is a rotunda supported by four Corinthian columns and lit by a stained glass window located on the roof. Walking into the foyer you cant help but embrace the timeless grace, where every corner whispers of history and a bygone era. There is a quiet serenity to the space, as if time slows just a little bit inside. The modern touch added to the old renovated mansion does come with a bit of a sharp, sterile elegance of a modern mansion. The Parlor is a great place to enjoy a delicious craft cocktail and even better, ADULTS ONLY! There are also many other lovely seating arrangements throughout the property, including outdoors, and a few even come with fire pits. Regardless of your intentions for visiting the Heights House, I am quite confident there will be no disappointments, unless they have a private event. Cheers!

Yelp
If you're undecided about visiting Heights House, let me reassure you - don't hesitate. While it operates as a hotel, the parlor stands out for its outstanding cocktails and delicious pre-dinner snacks. I often recommend it to friends as the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks or a relaxing nightcap after an early dinner (just be sure to check the closing hours). In any case, you're guaranteed not to be disappointed. At Heights House, I am a frequent visitor, and with each visit, I discover new aspects to love. This time, I had the pleasure of sampling their delicious Sunday Sauce Pasta Menu, which was truly a culinary experience. The hospitality of the staff was exceptional, and they displayed genuine enthusiasm for their new Sunday offering, set to debut on August 18th. They graciously provided a selection of red and white wines to compliment the pasta. One standout moment was my interaction with Mindy, who effortlessly made my friend feel welcomed despite never having met before. Their shared appreciation for cheetah print sparked lighthearted laughter and a sense of camaraderie. The impeccable cleanliness of the hotel, along with the spotless bathrooms, reflects the high standards maintained by the staff. Under Sarah's leadership, an exceptional team has been nurtured, allowing each member to showcase their talents and contribute to the overall excellence of Heights House.

Yelp
Went here for drinks with a friend at had a blast! Such a stunning place, every detail was gorgeous!! 5/5 for overall vibes and atmosphere! We were there around 4pm on a Thursday, so not too busy but still fun. The drinks were delicious! I ordered the Rosie and it tasted as good as it looked! 4.5/5 stars!! My friend ordered the aperol spritz and said it was also delicious (and beautiful) and gave it a 5/5! We got the Whipped Ricotta with Honey & Pistachio and it was AMAZING!!! So delicious and light, but so flavorful. 5/5!!! The only thing was everything was pretty pricey, but you truly get what you pay for!! No complaints whatsoever! Great, nice staff, very accommodating! Will for sure be coming back! Overall 5/5 experience!

Yelp
This stunningly beautiful home turned bed and breakfast with a Speakeasy influence bar is a must see if you are in Raleigh. You are free to explore the grounds, the bar and downstairs but only guests staying on the property and venture upstairs. We came in for cocktails and were not disappointed. Everything tasted amazing and was worth the 4 hour train ride from Charlotte.

Yelp
Even before we arrived at Heights House for afternoon tea, Casey sent me a detailed, thoughtful email with personalized recommendations for things to do in and around Raleigh. It was so helpful, and so kind! Their afternoon tea is truly incredible. Anna made us feel so welcome and special on our anniversary, and we got seated in the beautiful dining room. Everything felt like a 5-star luxurious experience. Each corner of the House is picture-perfect, and the atmosphere makes you want to unwind. The hotel is in a gorgeous historic neighborhood among other beautiful houses, with a bakery (Boulted Bread) a few minutes walk down the road. Rebus Works is a local specialized grocer and neighborhood coffee shop also just a couple minutes away. You can easily walk to one of the food halls (Morgan) in Raleigh, and other bars/restaurants like Wye Hill.

Yelp
Such a quaint space close to downtown Raleigh. They service as a hotel but also have a small bar downstairs on their main level. Visitors are welcome to walk around the space have a drink and hangout on the grounds. They don't allow visitors upstairs though unless your a hotel guest. The drinks are good the staff is very friendly. There is street parking only in the area, they have a small lot but only for hotel guests. The space is really nice and bougie. They do serve light snacks too wouldn't say it's worth it for a dinner date but definitely for a cocktail. They also have a picnic option $60 for a bottle of wine and charcuterie board and other snacks with a blanket. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
FABULOUS!! Absolutely enjoyed my first visit. Came to celebrate my bday and grab drinks with drinks. The home is stunning, restored and brought back to life :) The architecture and the well thought design makes it feel like you have stepped back into time. They have different rooms and a downstairs gathering space. Definitely a must do when in the Raleigh area. Check out their ongoing events.

Yelp
**BEAUTIFUL MANSION FOR EVENTS, COCKTAILS, AND STAYS** We pre-gamed at the Heights House for my birthday weekend and what a treat it was! PARKING ======== Designated lot at the Heights House (in historic Boylan Heights, my favorite Raleigh neighborhood). EVENING EXPERIENCE =================== We had wonderful handcraft cocktails, delicious charcuterie board (with amazing cheeses and meats), and champagne in the well-designed drawing room. The staff welcomed and greeted us warmly. Co-owner, Sarah, is sooooo nice! She gave us a brief group tour of the property. The Italian-style mansion also hosts events and have hotel rooms for booking. OVERALL ======== Our friends had such a great time, and we can't wait to return! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Think the Great Gatsby had a baby with the NC Museum of Art. We didn't stay in the hotel, but went for drinks and a phenomenal Charcuterie board. It's elegant and quaint, but without the pretentiousness. The staff is lovely and welcoming. The details of the building are worth the exploration and the cocktails are on point. I hate sharing this review because I want it to be my hidden secret, but I kind of have to tell how cool this place is...

Yelp
AMAZING! After seeing all the beautiful photos on Instagram I knew I wanted to stay here. My husband and I visited last weekend for a staycation and it blew all of our expectations out of the water. The space is beautiful, turning a late 1800s mansion into a stunning hotel no doubt took an insane amount of work, but they thought of every detail. The interior is the perfect mix of art deco and modern. Upon check in you are offered glasses of champagne delivered to your room and given an actual key, no room cards here. We stayed in a standard room and it was beautiful-- the bed and pillows were insanely comfortable, we loved the frame TV, and the high end products in the shower were a nice bonus. Other amenities include a Counter Culture pour over coffee and tea setup in your room, a fancy coffee machine in the dining area, and all sorts of sparkling water to chose from. Breakfast which is included in your stay includes delicious boulted bread croissants, yogurt and berries, as well as hard boiled eggs. They also have a wine and cheese hour daily from 5-6pm and place Escazu chocolates on your door in the evenings. They seriously think of everything here and I love the emphasis on so many local products. If I were getting married I would 100% have my wedding here, the windows are gorgeous, all the crown molding, and every little decor detail they thought of make for a perfect backdrop. Don't even get me started on the lighting fixtures-- beautiful! If you are looking for a staycation or a spot for out of town folks to stay I highly recommend Heights House. It is also walking distance to many great downtown restaurants and bars. Wye Hill is less than a five minute walk!

Yelp
Wow! This home/hotel is amazing. They literally thought of everything! From handicap lift to access the building, to ADA first floor rooms. We are not handicapped but a lot of the older homes/B&Bs don't think of these things. We were greeted by Mindy, she is so nice, knowledgeable and super friendly. She provided us with champagne on arrival and gave us a tour of the house which included the history and how the current owners restored this home bringing back many original items like the stone fireplace hearth. The available snacks, soft drinks, coffee machine, the bar (couldn't use though due to the holiday); things I never thought of wanting or needing for our stay was available. We stayed in room 2, beautifully decorated, the pillows and bed were so comfortable (I had to take a picture of the pillow tag so I can buy for our home), and the temperature in the room was so refreshing after a hot muggy day. Our daughter and son-in-law will be moving to the area over the next year, so we will Definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I just recently celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Raleigh and were very excited to stay here. It was worth the wait! We cannot wait to come back ASAP!!
