Hello Halloumi - Review - Greenwich Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Hello Halloumi is a halloumi bakery in Greenwich Village. Yes, you heard that right. Halloumi, like the cheese. The bakery is getting creative with its usage of the halloumi, which they’re importing from Cyprus—think halloumi fries and baked halloumi bites. That said, the name is a bit misleading. They do have a few treats without halloumi in them, like Nutella bites." - Willa Moore

New NYC Bakery Hello Halloumi Opens in West Village | Eater NY

"A new bakery dedicated to all things halloumi is opening this weekend in the West Village, debuting Saturday, October 18 at 48 Greenwich Avenue between West 10th and 11th streets; its whole focus is the semi-firm Cypriot cheese, and founder Constantino Papadakis is importing it straight from Cyprus for grilled, baked, and fried items. The menu spans bagel bites stuffed with halloumi, halloumi triangles, halloumi fries, and halloumi focaccia, alongside non-halloumi cheeses like feta sesame balls and sweet anari, sweet tahini swirls, and gluten-free options. There are Greek freddo espressos and cappuccinos, and for opening day, free coffee, a raffle, and music. The bakery took over the space previously home to empanada shop Nadas, which closed over the summer." - Nadia Chaudhury

I've lived in Cyprus for 20 years, and when I say it doesn't get more authentic than Hello Halloumi, I mean it. Starting from the variety and quality of the food to the beverages and ending with the hospitality of the place and staff. The whole experience brims with warmth and culture. The owner was very welcoming and kindly explained how they make their pastries in-house every morning. Even more impressive is that this is a one of a kind store! I can't not point out how evident it is that Hello Halloumi cares about every customer that comes in. The staff help with making a choice and explain each pastry. I also noticed that the store prioritizes happy customers. Whenever someone had to wait in line, the staff kept checking in and even offered free samples. Honestly, everything I tried was delicious. However, my personal favorites were the halloumi balls and grilled cheese sandwich special. I am really excited about everything this place offers. Well done to Constantino and his team!

Hellohallouminyc just opened in the West Village, bringing NYC its first-ever halloumi-inspired bakery. 🧀✨ This charming spot serves adorable bite-size pastries made with authentic halloumi imported straight from Cyprus, giving every bite that perfect mix of salty, buttery goodness. Their menu has an amazing range of sweet and savory pastries — super flaky, super flavorful, and totally unique. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options, so there’s something for everyone. We tried the Ice Rose Latte and it was incredible. The bagel bites and three-cheese pastry , nutella puffs were definite favorites too. They even offer catering if you’re planning an event and want something fun and different. If you love cute cafés, creative pastries, and great coffee, this West Village newcomer absolutely belongs on your list. 💛

I came across this place on Instagram and decided to check it out and so glad I did. I tried the halloumi puffs and bagel bites, both were super tasty. We had a board game night planned later, so we ended up ordering their small catering package, and it was a total hit with everyone. The owner even gave my dog a treat, which was such a sweet touch. Great spot for a quick bite or for catering - highly recommend!!

Google
I found this place on Instagram and was intrigued by their selection of small halloumi pastries. The items are priced by weight, which is nice if you want to sample a few things. I tried a halloumi pesto sandwich, a halloumi ball, and a tahini puff, which came to about $11 total. The pastries were decent but nothing particularly mind-blowing. I even reheated them in the air fryer before trying, which helped a bit with texture. The mini halloumi sandwich was tasty, but it was tiny, maybe six bites total. Overall, while the quality is alright, it felt quite pricey for the portion size. A decent stop if you’re curious, but not something I’d go out of my way for.

I came here on the opening day after seeing it all over instagram and I was NOT disappointed. Everything was so delicious. My favorites were the halloumi balls, olive pies, and the halloumi and feta bagel bites. On top of that the owner is so friendly and welcoming- he even threw in a few additional things for free. I live in the area and have already been back a few times. Would recommend for any cheese lovers looking for a great new spot in the west village.

I just walking by and the window display peeked my interest, so I went in out of curiosity. My server named Marie was a very sweet and patient girl. Helping explain the pastries and telling me about the bakery. She gave me a sample of one her favorites and I have to say it’s really delicious. I would definitely buy it on my next visit. I ordered a matcha latte and I appreciate she made sure I would truly love it. And they prepare their matcha the traditional way. I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to my next visit.

Google
I saw the little pastries behind the glass and I had to check. Bagel bites, crunchy flaky filo rolls, halloumi fries. As someone who loves halloumi this is the place. The pastries were perfectly baked golden and crispy on the outside, soft melty halloumi inside that tastes fresh and real. The people there told me they bring it from Cyprus and you can tell they know how to handle it. They make like contemporary recipes I'd call them, the term is possibly wrong but yeah. It's less that $2 per pound which is a great deal and a fun way to calculate costs. I had a matcha latte and it was better that most in Manhattan. The staff were friendly and happy to explain what was in each. I wish I was staying in the village. Just look at this goodness

Really liked this place. It’s small but feels homey, and the staff was super kind. I got the halloumi puffs, halloumi bites and a latte, and all were amazing!! If you like savory snacks and good coffee, it’s definitely worth a stop. Would not hesitate to recommend!

Yelp
A cute spot that sells delicious savory and sweet pastries that can be filled with halloumi. The space itself is small but you can see all the options they sell through the glass case. You pay by weight as the savory and sweet have differences prices per ounce. They also have cute reusable bags. By far the friendliest service with Em guiding me through her favorites and giving my recommendations! Loved how I brought up mushroom and immediately she asked the kitchen if their mushroom halloumi were ready. Really appreciate the tentiveness and how nice everyone was. My favorites were the fig poptart and mushroom halloumi! 100000% going to come back and try more pastries and also give their drinks a try too!

Yelp
It's a unique concept narrowly nestled in West Village. The pastries are smaller than average but, that is because you pay by weight. Some people may not like that idea, but I think its a wonderful way to get so sample a variety of goods, without having to down 3 normal pastries. They also serve coffee and some sweets, but this shop is mostly known for its savory baked goods. For $6 I walked away with a halloumi focaccia, a 3 cheese pastry, and halloumi and mushroom pastry. My favorite: the halloumi and mushroom. It was so deeply savory and packed with mushrooms. The 3 cheese pastry was, as expected, cheesy. The focaccia was a letdown, too flavorless imo. But then again, the server never listed it in her recommendations and I can see why. Overall, its well worth a visit if you're not into sweet pastries and would like to try a variety of things without being overwhelmed!

Yelp
I was in the West Village and when I was crossing the street, I saw Hello Halloumi, and recognized it from Instagram. I decided to get a small box and tried the fried halloumi fritters and the cream cheese and halloumi bagel bombs, and they were AMAZING. The fritters could use a little jam on top. Sweetness would pair nicely with the fried cheese. Their Instagram says they are "A savory bakery and specialty coffee shop in the West Village unlike any other. Give them a try!

Yelp
Cute spot! Really friendly staff and owner. I witnessed a great act of kindness from the owner when a person with special needs came in. Food has potential and like the concept. Definitely get the spinach and feta rolls.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by and picked up two each of several pastries. All were delicious! The mushroom roll and the halloumi balls were particularly good. Friendly owner, cute spot. Looking forward to seeing this business thrive and hopefully expand to Queens in the future!
