We came during Happy Hour and saw that there's 5 maki rolls included during that time. Of the 5, we ordered the Maui Wowie Roll and the Chef's Roll. We also ordered the Scallop Carpaccio, the Lobster Fried Rice, the Charcoal Grilled Miso Oysters, and the Kid's Menu Tempura Shrimp. We also got the Yuzu Negroni and the Watermelon Slush.
The restaurant interior is beautiful, modern, with high ceilings and woodwork that matches the Banff setting. Prices are high but expected for a tourist destination.
My wife enjoyed the Yuzu Negroni while my kids fought over the Watermelon Slush.
The 2 happy hour rolls, Maui Wowie Roll and Chef's Roll, were interesting. The Maui Wowie was sweet, which was expected from the ingredients. I wished it was a tad less sweet. The Chef's Roll was the best of the two.
Of all the dishes, the Scallop Carpaccio was the star of the night. It was a delicious, fresh, flavorful dish. You can still taste the natural sweetness of the scallops while getting a punch of lime and pickled onions.
The Lobster Fried RIce did not have as much lobster flavor as we had hoped. It was still decent and flavorful. The Miso Oysters were good and fresh.
The Tempura Shrimp was typical of a Japanese restaurant and made my kids happy.
Overall, it was a good meal, though reflected by the destination and crowds. The restaurant was packed and had a lot of turnover so it's very popular among tourists.
