An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"It might come as a shock to find sushi this fresh in the snow-capped Canadian Rockies. But sure enough, Hello Sunshine’s scallops are raced in from Hokkaido, the yellowtail from Kyushu, and daily specials are decided on by what’s fresh at the Tokyo fish markets. The menu is padded out by apps that nod to Japanese drinking food (crispy-battered karaage, potato salad, and yakitori skewers) alongside bowls of ramen for those looking to warm up from the cold. All are served in a dining room designed to look like a Japanese mountain cabin, complete with fireplaces in the center of each table, wood furniture, and hanging paper lanterns. When dinner is done, finish the night in one of the restaurant’s private karaoke rooms." - Kate Dingwall

A great final dinner to cap off our time in Banff. The atmosphere is fun and the staff is friendly. I forgot to write a note down for her name, but special shout out to our awesome Kiwi/Aussie server who was serving across the restaurant and making drinks. She was great. We ordered a lot of the menu. Highlights included the Chicken Karagge, A5 Wagyu (which they have a very good price on and the chef cooks perfectly), and the Maui Wowie rolls which were 50% off for happy hour ($6.70 USD for a set of 8 sizeable rolls is a steal in the US). They have great Pork Bao buns here, and I tried bites of the Chicken Teriyaki and the Lobster Fried rice, both of which are stellar even though they weren't my main. If you're coming here for value, slam a bunch of the half price Sushi for happy hour. If you want to try a bunch of stuff, just order a bunch of the amazing Apetizers. Everything we tried was great.

Dining at this Japanese restaurant was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. The moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by a serene atmosphere filled with the calming scent of freshly cooked rice, miso, and grilled seafood. The interior design was elegant yet minimal — soft lighting, clean lines, and subtle Japanese décor that made the space feel both peaceful and inviting. Every detail reflected authenticity and care, setting the perfect stage for what turned out to be a truly memorable meal. The food was exceptional. Each dish was beautifully presented, almost like a work of art, and every bite captured the true essence of Japanese cuisine — fresh, balanced, and full of umami. The sushi was incredibly fresh, with perfectly seasoned rice and fish that melted in my mouth. The ramen had a deep, flavorful broth that tasted like it had been simmered for hours, rich and comforting with perfectly cooked noodles and tender slices of pork. I also tried the tempura, which was light, crisp, and golden without being greasy — exactly how tempura should be. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff were attentive, polite, and knowledgeable about the menu. They explained the ingredients and even recommended sake pairings that complemented the flavors beautifully. Every interaction felt genuine and respectful, staying true to the warm hospitality Japan is known for. It’s rare to find a restaurant that combines authenticity, quality, and atmosphere so perfectly. Whether you’re craving sushi, ramen, or simply a quiet evening filled with exquisite flavors, this place delivers beyond expectations. I left feeling satisfied, relaxed, and excited to return. Truly, this Japanese restaurant deserves all five stars — a hidden gem that captures the heart of Japan right here in town.

Definitely a new favourite spot in Banff! The service is friendly and quick, and even on a weekend the restaurant was not too busy, although a reservation is recommended. During happy hour, select dishes like some of sushi is 50% off and they did not disappoint. The Maui wowie roll is tropical and the fresh tastes fresh. The pork tonkotsu ramen is flavorful, the egg is soft in the center, and the noodles are cooked well. As a person preference, the pork was too fatty but that doesn’t take away from the 5-star experience

Google
What a crazy cool unique place! We sat at the fireplace table which seats other couples, all around a huge, shared, round fireplace. We enjoyed being able to talk to the people next to us. The waiter was friendly and offered great food suggestions. We loved the unique flavors and atmosphere. The Beef Tataki was incredible!! Really a cool place to eat at, especially if you love Asian fusion.

Came here on our first night in Banff and ended up coming back on our last night as well. Was able to walk in without a reservation both times, but it does get busy! The vibe is awesome—think SF meets Japan meets ski town. I love that they have all the dietary indicators on the menu since I am someone who has to be dairy free. Highly recommend the non alcoholic matcha colada for the drink. This dishes we loved so much that we ordered them both times were the dragon roll, the shishito peppers, and the chicken karaage. The nigiri was fresh and delicious as well. Would highly recommend!

Google
Love the decor - the restaurant is really modern and has lots of natural light from the street-facing window. The hostess was friendly and we were seated quickly even though it was a weekend. The menu is small but has a bit of everything. Everyone enjoyed their food. Our favourite dish was the scallops which were absolutely phenomenal, but was prepared completely differently from the description in the menu. They also do karaoke in the evenings, but we didn't have a chance to try it.

Google
Chicken ramen is a 10 out of 10. The garlic broth felt warm and comforting. The gourmet California roll was just okay for me. What I liked the most was the dine-in environment. It was very cozy, and the decor and color scheme were really pleasant. The service was excellent, and the staff kept smiling throughout the entire visit.

Good sushi options and a nice ambiance. Definitely add this to your short list of places to visit when enjoying Banff. Tip: there is a sushi happy hour and many items are at a great price. Great for a late lunch.

Yelp
Our group made a reservation for 6, and it was the right choice. The restaurant was fairly busy for a Sunday evening. We each got a ramen dish and split a couple of sushi rolls. We got the Maui Wowie roll, and the chef's roll. The fish tasted really fresh and buttery. I personally got the tonkatsu ramen and the non-alcoholic matcha colada - the matcha was a little more on the grassy side but it was overall a very refreshing drink. I was originally given the wrong ramen dish but the team at Hello Sunshine immediately approached us and fixed the issue without a problem. The marinated soft boiled egg was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I could have probably ate more of the egg - I would recommend ordering another! The noodles felt fresh and house made, they were perfectly cooked. The broth was light and flavorful as well too. I would definitely come back and try more of the food. The concept of the restaurant is really cool, they had these seats that you could sit around a fire pit and I bet that would have been extremely nice during the winter. Overall it was a great experience.

Yelp
Didn't love this place. It was loud, busy and corporate feeling. Dozens of waitstaff running all over the place. The server wanted to bring stuff out one at a time since it encourages sharing, even though one of us ordered ramen, like who shares their ramen? I can't imagine anyone that actually lives in Banff eating here. The food was fine. Okonomyaki was good, ramen was ok. The menu is extensive. There are better Asian restaurants in Banff.

Yelp
Located in downtown Banff, it looked appealing from the reviews online and from the decor outside and inside. It does have a cute feel. Food was good, I'm from California tho and this was not comparable to the food there. The sushi is overpriced but nothing is really good out here in Canada. Our favorite was the chefs roll and the lobster fried rice. We were told the salmon spicy roll was good, it wasn't, the rice is compacted and had a weird taste with very little salmon. They do have a kids menu which all the kids enjoyed, their fave was the karage and potato fries and grilled chicken and rice. It was juicy enough and flavorful, just didn't add the mayo since kids just prefer ketchup on the side. Now service is where I wasn't a huge fan of. One of the bussers not even the server got annoyed that SHE forgot to give my kid crayons for their kids menu. I asked for it twice bc she forgot and the second time she basically threw the crayons in front of my daughter. Also we sat on this pretty round fireplace table BUT the table was like a walkway behind me with this wall so everyone passing me was behind me to get thru the other side of the room. It was such a weird setup!! The waiters and waitresses and even people going in and out of the kitchen and bathroom had to literally pass behind me on a small section. So dumb and ruined the experience. Our actual server was nice so I felt bad bc he was good. But the dumb busser and even the front desk lady gave attitude otherwise I'd give a 2 for poor service. Fix that asap, how annoying.

Yelp
Super cute spot to carb up for your banff adventures! We joined for happy hour which was an awesome deal. We got to try every happy hour rolls which were nicely crafted and will please any crowd. We also enjoyed the happy hour drinks which were were delicious and well balanced. I wish we had more time to explore other menu items! Also don't miss the merch if you want a more unique tee shirt option.

Yelp
Sushi is great, presentation is a little different but I dig it! Service was good, no complaints. Restaurant is very nice inside and has an open door setup! Give it a try if you're looking for some good sushi in Banff!

Yelp
Our date night at Hello Sunshine was delicious! We tried an assortment of sushi, BBQ, and drinks. Our waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. We will be back next time we are in Banff.

Yelp
A pretty nice Japanese restaurant in downtown Banff. We shared a little boat (6 pieces of sashimi) that were beautifully cut, fresh and tasty. We also tried the Chef's roll but this was not particularly noteworthy. It wasn't bad but did not wow us like we were hoping. The Pork Tonkotsu ramen was not what were hoping for. We were looking forward to a much creamier and thicker broth. Overall, a decent meal but not something we would have again.

Yelp
Had my birthday dinner here and was able to make a rez on Open Table. Fairly lively atmosphere and lovely space. We did not do the private karaoke room but it seems like such a fun activity for a group! Our server was great and had many recommendations to which we followed. We ordered the non-alcoholic matcha colada, Tokyo fries, Maui wowie maki roll, chef's roll, Alberta ribeye tataki style with yuzu shallot butter & yakiniku bbq sauce, lobster fried rice, and yuzu sesame tarte to finish. The matcha colada was very mild in matcha flavor and it was mostly ice. I would skip out on the Tokyo fries. I ordered two extra sauces on the side for the ribeye but the ribeye spoke for itself and it did not need it. Everything else was great and the yuzu tarte was the perfect balance.

Yelp
Great surf (sushi) and turf (ribeye)! One of the best sushi I have had! The ribeye was done really well with a hint of Asian flare (maybe coz of the fried garlic? :) ) I would go back anytime!

Yelp
From Los Angeles CA, first time in Alberta, here to visit the national parks in Banff. Ran into this place by accident. But probably the best accident ever! The food 9.5/10 the atmosphere 10/10, the service 10/10.... Priced very decently. I'm use to paying $230-$250 back at home for the same quality and quantity of food. You can't not try the lobster fried rice, or the bluefin tuna..I would have giving the food 10/10, but the spicy Tuna roll tasted off... overall. Would recommend 10/10. Our servers name is Destiny. She was 10/10.

Yelp
If you're looking for fresh sushi, great service and in downtown Banff, this is your place. Very easy to get to from all hotels in Banff and close to many bus stops. We highly suggest making a reservation as soon as you can, no matter your party size. Everything we tried was delicious, the restaurant was busy and it's on the louder side, but we could still hear each other speaking. We arrived just in time for happy hour and the menu has something for every taste bud. The saki was perfect and it just complimented everything else. We would definitely stop in again if we are ever in the area. Enjoy!

Yelp
A great restaurant to visit in Banff. It's located in downtown Banff. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and we had a hard time deciding. We ended up ordering a variety of dishes. For appetizers, we enjoyed all the starter dishes, especially the scallop carpaccio, seasonal salad, and yakitori skewer. For main courses, we liked the poke bowl the most. The dish looked beautiful, the portion was generous, and the ingredients were very refreshing. The service for the other entrees was quite slow for some reason, so we had to wait a while. Overall, it's still worth checking out if you're looking for places to eat in the downtown area. The restaurant even has a karaoke room that you can book for more fun with friends and family after dinner.

Yelp
Was really looking forward to trying this place after a long day of hiking, and it was just ok. The food was tasty but the whole experience seemed rushed. We got there and were seated in the very back at a dark table, then it took a while for someone to greet us. After we finally ordered, the food came out fast except for something I ordered which the waitress never put in and so we rushed to wait.. again. They didn't apologize or do anything to make the situation better.

Yelp
so v glad we stumbled upon here during happy hour in the heart of banff townnn the cocktails are SO FUN i ordered the matcha colada (lov matcha and pandan flavors) and my boyfriend got the watermelon slush cocktail. rolls were also happy hour half off -- chef's roll (hamachi), spicy tuna; both were good but nothing mind-blowing kek what i did not want to finish eating was the build your own bao with pork belly!! it was charred to perfection for me (i like burnt stuff tbh) and just the right amount of fattiness. AND THE COLESLAW was like this ponzu lemon-y combo of flavors with pickled onions and pickles ... i was a fan of this for sure i truly enjoyed the ambiance here and everyone was so sweet i recommend 100% even the washrooms are so nice
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I are still raving about this place. Literally the best happy hour we have EVER been to in our lives, and if we weren't on vacation wanting to try other spots, we were tempted to be here every night for dinner. The drinks were unique and delicious, the sushi was fantastic, the ramen was incredible. The service was amazing all evening, and super helpful for figuring out what we wanted to do in the area. Seriously, such a cool spot. It was the perfect start to our trip in Banff and would recommend everyone visiting to check it out.

Yelp
Decent sushi in the downtown area of Banff. The inside is has a nice atmosphere and good vibe. They have a good bar area and you can also dine at the sushi bar as well. We made a reservation and realized we had barely missed their happy hour! Happy hour is from 4-5 everyday with very select cocktails and a few sushi items but not the complete menu. It can be pricy to dine here so happy hour could be the way to go. I did try the expresso martini which was good but small for the price point and it is not on happy hour. Crispy avocado roll tasted really fresh and hit the spot after a long hiking day. I personally loved the Karaage served over type of cabbage green with sauce on top. It's a chicken thigh so the chicken is really juicy, with a fresh squeeze of lemon on top, this dish pops! The dragon roll included tempura shrimp, avocado, BBQ eel, cucumber, tobiko, and sansho pepper and it was a really filling roll. Service here is kind of weird, you can get a really friendly person or a really off putting server or hostess, we experienced both. Also the people working near the sushi bar area hangout and have really inappropriate conversations and it seems like they are drinking so it's probably just hit or miss depending on the day.

Yelp
I loved this place so much. I'm going to say, my expectations were low going to a national park in Canada and finding yummy food. The atmosphere of this place is amazing, a great date night. The food was great but I would say the star of the show was the atmosphere and cocktails. Me and my fiancé went multiple times during our trip. I loved it so much I messaged them to open up a location in San Diego bahaha. I wish! Apparently there is also a karaoke room, we did not try this but would love to next time we visit Banff.

Yelp
Fantastic food! We had a wonderful time at the restaurant, our server was very attentive and provided excellent service. The food came out promptly and was absolutely phenomenal.
google avatar

Yelp
Went for a late dinner reservation with karaoke in a private room for 8. Service was FANTASTIC and food was even better. We had a private waiter and own room just for our party. They are free to book, just book ahead!

Yelp
I didn't think to take pics of the food in time but I ordered the Toro Salmon sashimi and the Steak and Sushi for my entree with a side of Tokyo fries (sweet potato fries w/ kewpie mayo). The Toro Salmon (2 pieces in each order) sashimi were thick and probably the best sashimi I've ever had in my life. SO delicious! Incredible! Steak came in about 6 cut slices in what tastes like Japanese salad dressing. I always order my steak medium and it was perfect, very juicy. My wife ordered the salmon poke bowl and it looked amazing and the ingredients were nice and fresh. I can't get over the Toro Salmon. The host greeted us and said he had us in a booth for our reservation but could put us in a bench table with street view. Awesome. The restaurant was modern and the design was very appealing and attractive. The front wall opened up to the street and the ambiance was great with the beautiful Banff sun nearly setting.

Yelp
Visited a few times in the past 2 years and it's always average. We ordered 4 rolls during happy hour and they don't taste very different from one another except for the spicy one. We got a mango roll and barely tasted the mango. It's too bad because the decor and vibes are so nice and fun.

Yelp
Food is the best we've had!!! Super quick service. Lovely atmosphere ! We came here two days in a row. Sushi and sashimi both amazing !

Yelp
This was a really fun food and karaoke spot. Shoutout to Teagan who was great to our party! My friends and I ordered our plates family style to share everything. We ordered: -the build your own bahn mi's. The pork belly was SO good! Easily the best dish of the night and some of the best pork belly I've ever had. 9.5/10 -the shrimp and chicken skewers. These were also very flavorful. I preferred the shrimp, but both were very solid options. Shrimp- 8.5/10 Chicken 8/10 -dragon roll -Maui wowi -chefs roll - bbq salmon roll -dynamite roll -lobster roll All of the rolls were really great. They were fresh, great flavor combinations. My favorite was the dragon roll and chefs roll but they were all really delicious. I had several glasses of sake, and of course we did sake bombs. Unfortunately the karaoke kept having glitches, so we had to ask for help several times, but they were always very quick to help us. There was also a little sliding wooden door/window in the wall that we shared with another room. The large group in the other room kept sliding open the window to see what we were doing/join in with our singing, which was awkward at times. Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Good value during happy hour. We sat at the bar and our server was so friendly. We ordered some sushi rolls and cocktails. The decor was really nice and can imagine it can get pretty packed. Comparing sushi quality to California, we felt the sushi quality wasn't as good.
google avatar

Alika N.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour to celebrate our last evening in Banff. Sushi was 50% off and cocktails were $10 for happy hour. The sushi left a lot to be desired but the drinks made up for the experience. I highly recommend the Shaft Sake Bomb! I don't like sake bombs because I'm not a fan of the taste of beer, however I enjoyed this one! They used chocolate sake and the drink tasted sweet like chocolate milk. The service was nice. Our waitress was a gem and checked in on us frequently. I'd come back for happy hour drinks!
google avatar

Jina P.

Yelp
The service was great. We were a group of 7 who walked in and they were able to seat us fairly quickly. The theme/ ambiance was beautiful. They had a variety of mocktails and cocktails that really incorporated Asian flavors which was refreshing. I had the matcha colada which was tasty but a bit grainy. Everyone else liked their drinks as well. The food overall was good. We loved the chicken karaage and boa buns and the Maui Wowie rolls were great. The ramen was not as flavorful especially the vegetarian one. It is tapas style so the portions are accordingly. It was a nice place and we were not disappointed with the food or service.
google avatar

Somya L.

Yelp
Hello Sunshine is a hidden gem in Banff! One of the cutest sushi places I have ever been to, it is extremely groovy and vibey. Harry Styles needs to come here and shoot the music video for "Music for a Sushi Restaurant". Service is amazing, ambiance was extremely lively (since their hours are fantastic - it was packed around 4pm), and they even have karaoke in separate rooms. Food was amazing! The mango sushi (salmon & tuna) was unreal, the pork bao was delicious, and the chicken ramen was very fresh but also light. I would come back to Banff just for this place!

Yelp
If you want a great vibe in a chic environment with delicious food and superb service then look no more! Our party of 6 wanted to try something different after 5 nights in town. We wound up getting the Omakase experience with the Kobe beef supplement and wine pairing and were oh so glad we did. It's obvious the chef put a a lot of effort into the meal. The environment was super casual and Jack our server was on top of every aspect of the evening. I think the price point was extremely fair for the quality and quantity of food we received. I would come back in a heartbeat and anyone with an open mind and sense of good-taste will feel the same way. Check it out. Go for the omakase and get ready for one of the best meals you'll have while in town.

Alexandra S.

Yelp
The coolest ambiance, the kindest staff, and deliciously fresh sushi served quickly! Start off with the refreshing Lychee Martini and Scallop Carpaccio to cool off. Staff highly recommended the: Spicy Miso King Salmon Press- it's phenomenal and so flavorful! We were so impressed at how quickly the food was served once we ordered! They also were able to squeeze us in on a busy night with no reservations made. We were told it's the best sushi in town and we couldn't agree more!
google avatar

Yelp
LA foodie here so I feel like it's kinda hard to please my taste buds. And when my husband said he made reservations for dinner in Banff I honestly did not have much expectations. But I have to tell you, I was really impressed with Hello Sunshine. Everything we ate tasted soooo GOOD. Our little family got to sit by the sushi bar so we were able to see the sushi chefs in action. Ordered: Scallop Carpaccio Chef's Roll Chicken Ramen Prime Alberta Ribeye Scallop Nigiri Toro Salmon Nigiri Yellowtail Nigiri Bluefin Nigiri King Salmon Nigiri If you are visiting Banff, I highly recommend visiting Hello Sunshine. Your taste buds will thank me for recommending them. It is a great place for a date night, for sushi lovers, or even getting your steak fix on. You can clearly tell that all staff work hard and provide great service. Tips: *Street Parking *Credit Card and cash accepted. *Reservation accepted *Restroom available. *Kids menu available. *Alcohol served. *50% off sushi everyday Sunday-Friday 4:30-5:30pm; Saturday 4-5pm *Free wifi

Yelp
Great service Go for happy hour only, very expensive otherwise. No need to get the spicy tuna again. Overall would go again but not exactly top of list

Yelp
Hands down my favorite meal in the Canadian Rockies! I generally have reservations WRT ethnic food in nature-y touristy towns like Banff but I was VERY pleasantly surprised with Hello Sunshine! Upon entering the restaurant, your nostrils will be met with a delicious woodsy smoky yet sweet charcoal scent. We were seated at a communal table around an unlit fireplace with two other parties. Cute. Communal was not our preference but we were starving from all the hiking we did. It was initially a little awkward but we ended up having good conversation with the rest of the table. Everyone was on vacation mode and in good spirits! I started with the sparkling sake, which I'd never had before, and really liked because it was fizzy but not quite as sweet as champagne. My friend had a mocktail and she liked it. We also ordered the following noms: - scallop carpaccio... very light, refreshing, and clean flavor - gourmet california roll (with snow crab)... i'm a huge fans of cali rolls and this was an exceptional one - yakitori skewers... nicely grilled and charred but some overcooked parts. Friend didn't get any overcooked bits. - prime alberta ribeye... very well executed and the best ribeye I had in Banff - grilled asparagus... smokey and flavorful, tempura crunchies were a nice touch - chicken ramen... friend really liked it but i was not a fan of the overly-fishy-to-me broth Server came by to check on us frequently. Our area around the communal table fireplace was rather small so they were very prompt in clearing our plates in order to make space for the rest of the food. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Holy moly was not expecting this place to be as good as it was. Came with family including two toddlers. Cocktails were excellent. Ordered the ramen which was a huge hit with my kids and the spicy tuna and wowie Maui roll. Ambiance looks like it would serve a younger child free crowd but all the waitstaff was so accommodating of our kiddos and we were super grateful. Will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

Yelp
We made a yelp reservation for 5pm on Saturday under happy hour. We ordered everything under the happy hour menu besides the lychee cucumber martini and when our waitress brought our drinks after placing the order she said "you know not everything you got is on the happy hour menu." We thought she meant the martini and said yes. We got the check and it was all full priced items. The sign outside said in small writing Saturday happy hour is 4-5pm. So the yelp reservation was wrong and our waitress wasn't fully transparent, but we also should have looked at the small text. Would have been a great deal for happy hour prices but not $115 USD for 4 sushi rolls (one being an avocado cucumber roll) and 2 drinks.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Delicious and affordable sushi if you come during Happy Hour! Our favorites are the Chef's roll and BBQ salmon. Their ramen is also solid especially after a long day of hiking. We also tried the poke and sailfish with eggplant ragu. Both were great options as well!

Yelp
I never thought that I would find such a tasty Japanese spot in Banff but I couldn't be more wrong! These dishes were all pretty tasty. Not your traditional Japanese foods, but honestly pretty good for what you can find in the mountains. Favorites: - Scallop Carpaccio: so refreshing and umami! - Tofu and spinach: surprisingly good yet simple - King Salmon Sashimi: super thick cuts that just melts in your mouth - Ribeye: loved the subtle smokiness of this cook. Loved the vibes and service in here, super friendly and prompt! Plus, they even have karaoke! That would be perfect if you had a larger group here to eat and drink to meet the minimum.

Yelp
10/10!!! I am a big sushi lover and was excited to see sushi in Banff. The place is so cute! I loved it. The rolls... SO YUMMY. We started with the cheeseburger gyoza (very good, flavorful) and the spicy tartare (yum and fresh!!!) We ordered a wide variety of sushi: Spicy tuna roll, different nigiri, both of the oshi press rolls, the gourmet California roll, Shichimi shrimp roll, and the Chef's roll. All were so good! I personally really enjoyed the spicy tuna (actually some spice, loved that.) and the Gourmet California roll!!! Everything was so fresh and so yummy. Service was great as well!! All across the board, a great place.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the Spicy miso king salmon, Maui wowie, Chefs roll Spicy tuna. Spicy miso king salmon was delicious. The other 3 had no flavor. Disappointing. I would have been upset, but we were here for Happy Hour and those rolls were half off. Kids got bao buns. Pork bao buns were amazing.

Yelp
This was our first dinner stop when we arrived in Banff and had it on our mind the entire trip. The vibe of the restaurant is cool and since it was our first hours there in Banff, we wanted to enjoy to cold, crisp air and do some people watching. The waitress was fabulous and brought us blankets to put over our laps. The food overall was okay but I will rate each dish and drinks below. Maui Wowie- 4.5/5 the mango mayo on it set it off! Delicious and fresh! Spicy Pork Ramen- 4/5 Wasn't as spicy as I had hoped and the taste was okay. Lobster Fried Rice - 3/5 Was a bit bland but I added soy sauce which helped. Cucumber Lychee Martini - 4/5 It was nice and refreshing. The happy hour offered 1/2 off the menu. We weren't able to go but would recommend going during Happy Hour!!

Yelp
Happy hour 4-5pm. Fresh food. Amazing fast service. Nice ambience. This place just opened up in 2023 and it is another great establishment to add to banff. The restaurant is run like a machine and you can dine in and out within 30 min if you want. Once seated, they take your order and your food is ready in less than 10 min! I loved it because there's no time to waste while in banff bc there's so much to do. The place itself is huge, so there's plenty of seating. And they even have 2 firepits going inside. My food was good. I loved the scallop carpaccio with a hint of yuzu which was very refreshing. The ramen had different noodles which was odd but came with the biggest slab of pork belly which made it very much worth it. The egg was also cooked perfectly and there were so many toppings. I had some in every bite until I finished the bowl. Service is spectacular and spot on. The restaurant is staffed well so they are not running on their feet busy taking forever for your food or bill. I took my time eating and was still done in 45 minutes! They have online reservations via OpenTable. Which is very nice. And I even was late and they still were able to accomadate me. They currently have happy hour from 4-5 pm which has 50% off all sushi rolls. I'll have to be back to try that for sure!

Yelp
Located in the heart of downtown Bannf, this little restaurant is tucked away in the corner and can be easy to miss. Really does not look like much from the outside, but when you step in, its a very cute place. The fire table with community seating on a rainy or cold day looks very cozy. They also have a projector wall with different videos playing - what an unique concept. Now, coming to the food we ordered a bunch and it was all top notch. We got the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries for the kids. They came out quick - which is always a blessing. For the adults, we got the matcha margarita, smoked old fashioned and an expresso wine shot. The matcha marg was my favorite - so creamy. For apps, we had the tuna tartare and seaweed crisps. Tun tartare was so fresh and the seaweed crisps were well balanced. We got the happy hour sushi (4 sushi rolls were on happy hour) and a couple of pork belly ramen bowls. The sushi was fresh and ramen was hot- hit the right spots. Our server was super attentive and her suggestions were on point. Would I go back - yes! For sure.

Yelp
Great happy hour and was a recommends from a local. They didn't stir us wrong. This sushi and ramen restaurant is a must when visiting Banff. Happy hour is 50% off select sushi rolls and $16 ramen bowls. Also, select drinks are discounted. I am a lover of matcha so when I heard they have a Matcha-colada I had to try it. I had 2 because it tasted so good! It really tasted like a pina colada with a hint of matcha. I could have drank those all day on a beach. We also had a couple sushi rolls that were good but weren't anything special. I wished we would have been able to stay for dinner but we already had reservations elsewhere.

Yelp
We came during happy hour on a saturday (crazy right) from 4-5pm. The service was great super sweet girlies and very fast service. We were in and out within 20 ish minutes which was perfect because we were on time crunch. The interior is beautiful, definitely top tier. The corner that we were in was a little dark but it still was really nice. The watermelon sake slushy had a very artificial watermelon taste but you couldn't taste the sake at all which was good. We got the chef's roll and the spicy tuna rolls. Almost all the fish was grounded which was really disappointing because I don't really care for it/wasn't expecting it to be grounded. The chef's roll was a yellowtail and I have never had grounded yellow tail before, and I hope to never have it again. My friend got the ramen and she said it had no flavor so she had to add soy sauce. This is a nice place to go for dinner during the happy hour and for the cute vibes.

Yelp
Recently dined here for dinner with 11 people at one of the round tables. Reservations were easy and service was friendly. The food was very overpriced and did not live up to the hype. The chirashi-like bowl had an off-putting yuzu vinaigrette that just didn't work, it was barely edible. The ramen was serviceable, but nothing to write home about. Overall, a place to come to for ambiance alone. I would not return based on food alone.

Yelp
We decided to visit here based on the Yelp reviews. We came for an early dinner and hit the happy hour time. Service was great, friendly and professional. I will note the tables in the back are pretty dark so try to get ones by windows if you want more light. Food: All the happy hour sushi rolls seem to be made in a similar manner. The base roll is cucumber, avocado wrapped in rice and seaweed. Spicy tuna roll - the tuna is pretty fresh and lean which is nice and the sauce has decent spiciness to it. Bbq salmon roll - there's torched salmon on top with a nice sweet bbq. Maui wowie - the tuna is meaty and lean but the mango Mayo gives it a nice sweet to balance it out. Chef's roll - the yellowtail has a nice flavor and the yuzu flavor gives it a hit of citrus and freshness. Chicken ramen - a decent sized ramen bowl with chicken and various other toppings. Broth is pretty good as well. Price: Happy hour is decently priced for what you can find in town and pretty good flavor.
