This is literally my favorite sushi spot in Elk Grove. I have not had one thing I didn’t like. I usually come on Mondays because they have all day happy hour. You can’t do wrong with the mushroom tempura handroll, green beans, or any of the sashimi.

A little nervous about writing this review because I’m afraid it’ll create a crowd and a wait time for me. Elk Grove’s untapped treasure for sushi. On point pricing and the quality is superb. Never a bad dish. A must try for anyone considering a sushi date night. And honestly, the music always hits if you’re into 2000s hip hop - that alone should be enough to try this place. Monday is ALL DAY happy hour. 8/19 - Updated with new photo of dine-in happy hour specials. They’ve got something every day of the week!

Our go to sushi place in Elk Grove. I absolutely hated sushi and this place has converted me! The lady in red is our go to roll. Hamachi Kama is definitely also a must. Not only is the food amazing but it's worth every penny! Very affordable compared to other places. The service is outstanding. We normally go on Mondays since our favorite is there- Denise! She treats us so well and is so attentive. Great service and great food? Hard to find nowadays.

It is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the U.S. with reasonable prices. In Seattle, I have to pay at least double to get quality Japanese food like this. Fish is fresh and the flavor is unique however not overpowering the fish. All the rolls are made fresh in front of the customers. The service is very good too. I will stop by every time when I come to Sacramento. If you are looking for a place with big portion mediocre food, this is not the one for you.

This place is amazing! Quiet little spot to enjoy some dinner, especially now that the weather is warm. The husband and I sat outside and got to listen to the fountain. We had the Lemon Wave Roll and the Beef Teriyaki! both are out of this world! We really loved the teriyaki though. The steak cuts are dreamy and the sauce isn't overly heavy. I don't usually write reviews but I'm still sitting here at the restaurant writing this. I couldn't wait to sing their praises!

Google
The food presentations are very nice. I ordered 6 varieties of Temaki, and all of them are delicious, and the ingredients are fresh. Deep fried oyster is really good, and the sauce that comes with it is really delicious. The serving of calamari is very generous. The service is fast and staff are all friendly and attentive . The place is clean, and the style is classy. The entrance door somehow is in need of welcoming vibe. Overall, this place is a gem!

Google
Honestly the food is decent but the prices are outrageous. 9 dollars for a salmon temaki in my opinion makes it hard to justify going here over other japanese restaurants especially for the size. The interior decoration is very nice and you can see the sushi chef working in the center and all the staff were great. ---------- Hokkaido Uni Toast Grade: B+ The best thing here. Super rich and flavorful with uni, toro, and truffle oil on a nicely toasted baguette. Uni was mildly fishy but that's practically unavoidable in the US. Very rich and probably wouldn't be able to eat more than 2 pieces ---------- Salmon Hand Roll Grade: D+ Overall tasted not bad but it's just so ridiculously expensive for such a small temaki (literally 3 small squares of salmon) ---------- Tsubugai Grade: C+ Usually don't see whelk (sea snail) in temaki so was more of a unique one that is more worth the price. ---------- Spicy Tuna Grade: D+ I can't really find justification for paying these prices for essentially scrap fish, cucumbers, and cilantro. Should be at least a few dollars cheaper than the whole cut pieces of fish ---------- Yuzu Negihama Grade: D- See above but with yellowtail and scallions. ---------- Escolar Grade: C My favorite out of the 5 set. Flavors were balanced nicely but grade is still lowered for tiny portion size

Yelp
Such a beautiful restaurant.. the openness of the place makes it such a nice place to have lunch and a convo with friends over delicious hand rolls and more. Service was wonderful. Our waitress was very attentive.. she took our order and brought them out timely so we weren't over whelmed or bombarded. We had the truffle hamachi and fried green beans as our appetizer and they were both delicious! The hamachi melted in your mouth. The flavors were outstanding. Our shared entree was the lady in red roll and a veggie yaki udon. Both were great. I love udon so there was no complaints with this dish. We also had 2 hand rolls each.. the salmon, the Hokkaido scallop and mushroom&avocado hand roll. Salmon was good .. Hokkaido was my favorite! The masago mixed with it gave it a nice texture with the crunch. Definately recommend it! The mushroom and avocado is a refreshing roll to have light and delicious.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend because we were craving sushi. We wanted to sit at the bar, and luckily a couple of seats opened up right as we arrived. Just a heads up--since they offer omakase, I believe bar seating is prioritized for those guests, so spots can be limited. For starters, we ordered the deep-fried oysters ($13). They tasted fresh, and the breading was perfectly crispy. For our mains, my boyfriend got the Lady in Red roll ($17) while I ordered the three-set hand roll for $22. My boyfriend loved the Lady in Red roll--he said it was one of the best rolls he's ever had, and considering how many sushi places we visit (just look through my reviews), that says a lot. I tried it too, and I agree: the combination of ingredients was spot-on. My hand roll set came with salmon, spicy tuna, and yuzu negihama. They serve each roll one at a time, so everything is freshly made. Out of the three, the salmon was my favorite--probably because I naturally prefer salmon--but the yuzu negihama was excellent as well. As for the ambiance, I loved the minimal, clean aesthetic. The space is essentially one large open room, and it feels modern and inviting. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place to friends and would happily come back.

Yelp
OMAKASE REVIEW. This is my third time here, but my first for the Omakase. If you're coming for hand rolls and a couple of beers or a cocktail, this is a great place. But if you're coming for Omakase, I would look elsewhere. Service: If I'm going out for sushi, I'm not expecting five-star service, but if I'm coming for Omakase, I want you to know everything and describe everything to me. I also want to be served correctly. Don't put drinks on my left-hand side, and don't just throw all my food at me in the middle of me and my wife. Serve it properly to me the way it's supposed to. If I'm paying $125 per person from the start, I expect quality service. Food: don't get me wrong. This place had some delicious food, but some very odd choices. The restaurant is a hand roll place, and the only hand roll we received was absolutely disgusting. It was a dry, shredded beef hand roll. The worst bite of the entire meal. There were some standouts like the fatty tuna dishes, but overall, the food felt flat. The couple next to us did not eat several dishes that were not Omakase-worthy. Overall, the whole night just felt flat from the service to the food to the nearly $400 price tag. I've been here many times and could've eaten better for $200--too many mediocre dishes and mediocre service. I'm a long-time service industry worker, and I don't like leaving these reviews, but the service was utterly lacking, which I put entirely on the restaurant. The restaurant should be training its servers to serve proper Omakase, not some $19.99 all-you-can-eat sushi-style service. COME FOR THE HANDROLLS, and not the Omakase.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday during lunch to try out their happy hour deals. I ordered the garlic tempura green beans, the fried oysters, and a couple of hand rolls. I also got a beer. I got there right when it opened and there was only one other person dining, but it started filling up as I was finishing up eating. Everything was super fresh. The green beans were a huge serving size, so I took some to go. The restaurant was clean and service was good. Everything was great, would come back to try other things.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar and we were able to try it the other night. It's in a small strip mall and there is a good sized parking lot. It's a good sized place with a lot of different seating. It was busy on the night we came. No reservation and they sat us right away. The sushi bar is right in the middle of the place and two chefs were there making food that night. It was clean looking but very cold in the place. Winter was coming and they still had the AC blasting. A little uncomfortable especially for my wife. It was pretty busy and I only saw one waitress working so the service was a little slow but we didn't mind. It gave us time to look over everything. I started out with the raw oysters, They were Kumamoto's which I like. They said there was some sort of jelly with them. I didn't see that at all. Pretty much just the oyster with nothing on it. Still fresh and I enjoyed them. They are supposed to be famous for their hand rolls. The waitress recommended the Tuna Zuke and the Spicy Hokkaido Scallops. I don't like spicy so I just went with the 3 set hand rolls. They were nice and yummy. Plus a bargain at 22 bucks. I also got the 5 piece Nigiris which was fresh and also yummy. As my wife figured that I would be still hungry when I eat hand rolls and she was right They just don't fill you up. I had to get more, so I got the beef Teriyaki . I asked it to be medium rare. It was really good and I loved it but it could of been cooked a little less. The wife got a Bento box with the pork Katsu, shrimp tempura hand roll. It came with a salad and rice. The portion was a little small but it was good and she liked it. Ok place and we got out of there for around 100 bucks.

Yelp
I'm so happy Elk Grove finally has its very own hand roll bar! I came here when they first opened and have been back several times since. They offer a great variety of hand rolls, sushi rolls, and several non-roll dishes, so there's something for everyone. What I recommend: If you're not sure what to get, start with the 3 or 5 piece hand roll set. It's a great way to sample a few options and decide if you want to order more. Honestly, the portion size is already pretty satisfying for the price. You can always add on as you go! Some of our favorites beyond what's already included in the set are: Spicy Hokaaido Scallop, Ocean Trout, Blue Aged Toro & Uni hand rolls, Sashimi selections, Hokkaido Uni Toast, Uni Pasta, and the Chicken Skewers -- the chimichurri sauce on those is incredibly flavorful. Every hand roll and dish we've tried has been excellent -- fresh, high quality, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The dishes aren't overly heavy either, so you can enjoy a good amount without feeling stuffed... just be prepared when the bill comes! It's definitely worth every bite, but it can add up quickly. They're also able to accommodate large parties with a separate private dining area -- just make sure to call ahead for a reservation. We got lucky snagging a spot for our group when we called last minute. The only small downside (just a personal preference) is having to unwrap the seaweed from the plastic film before eating. I understand it's meant to keep the seaweed crisp and fresh, but it can feel a bit inconvenient. Overall, this spot is a fantastic addition to Elk Grove's dining scene -- fresh, flavorful, and a great experience every time!

Yelp
We went for Omakase and left so full! Chef Yoshi gave us a wonderful experience with his curated omakase menu. We love the staff, they were so friendly! We will cannot wait to come back and try his new menu.

Yelp
Had a great time sharing the delicious and fresh sushi with my friend. It was a quiet Sunday night, so it was nice. We ordered 2 sets of the 3 hand roll (I called it taco sushi) and a Crunch time house roll to share. It was the perfect amount. The staff were attentive and respectful of us, since we talked more than we ate lol. We love the Japan adaption of the seaweed disposable wrappers for the handrolls. It's nice to know that the seaweed wont be soggy by the time you eat it. Love that you had a choice of 3 or 5 handrolls and all of them were different. I like the variety of trying different ones - Salmon, spicy tuna, and yuzu negihama. The house roll felt like there was a lot going on, but it truly wasn't. You can taste the freshness of the fish and it wasn't over powered by any sauce. It was good amount of food for us two, but would love to come back to try more!
google avatar

Grace A.

Yelp
The food was very good, it was simple and honestly, the hand rolls were hard to eat and not anything special but still seemed fresh and clean which i enjoyed. We got two orders of the 3 set hand rolls which are already selected for you, it's salmon, spicy tuna, and yuzu negihama. We also got the ocean trout hand roll and Uncle John Roll which was good and scallop shooters which I enjoyed but my boyfriend didn't like his. Our server seemed new but the other one who started to help out was very kind. The place was very clean and had a good ambiance. Overall, it was nice to finally try this place out! I may go again but probably order a lot less- we spent $100 not including tip.

Yelp
This made my sushi night. I tried the new omakase menu at Hello Temaki in Elk Grove and wow... 10/10 would recommend. Hospitality out of this world. Food amazing. True chef experience from the one and only Yoshi. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Hello Temaki is 5 stars from top to bottom. The staff is amazing and friendly. They're greeting you the second you walk in. They offering recommendations If it's your first time in. They're just all over the experience and vibe. The food is a whole other level of amazing. Perfect hints of something here and there in each hand roll or even nigiri. Their selection of fish for anything is amazing. The lead chef is amazing and creative. We literally can't get enough Hello Temaki. It's a weekly one hour drive we don't miss in Order to have an evening here

Yelp
Hello Tamaki is such a great find here in Elk Grove! Found this place from social media and ended up going during happy hour and must I say it's very much worth it! Was able to try so many dishes off the happy hour menu at almost half the original price while also trying some of the regular menu items. Our favorites were the uni cream pasta, seared salmon hand roll, unagi hand roll, and fried garlic string beans. The service was also amazing and the workers were very kind! Would definitely be back!

Yelp
We visited on a Monday when they had their All Day Happy Hour. Since we arrived a little after 5PM (when they re-open for dinner), it was empty except for one other group. The two of us ordered a total of 3 dishes: Truffle Hamachi, the 3 Set Hand Roll of salmon, spicy tuna, and yuzu negihama, and the Dreamer house roll. This definitely was not enough to fill us up. The Truffle Hamachi was only slightly discounted from the Happy Hour menu (originally $22 for 9 slices, now $12 for 5 slices). However, the flavors exceeded my expectations. I'm not even a fan of microgreens, but I shoveled them into my mouth. The hand rolls came wrapped in plastic that you pull apart. The size of the hand rolls were smaller than I expected (and now I know why the waitress asked if we wanted to keep one menu at the table after we ordered). I wasn't too impressed with the salmon or spicy tuna, but I really liked the yuzu negihama. I might just go for the basic roll version of that next time instead of a hand roll. The Dreamer house roll contained spicy tuna, torched escolar, shiso, and a healthy heaping of kimchi mayo and thai chili sauce. I normally prefer simple rolls where the focus is on the quality of the fish, but I enjoyed this combination of flavors with that slight kick of heat. Overall, the portion sizes are pretty small here compared to the price point, but the fish tastes fresh, so I can't complain too much.

Yelp
The happy hour and food is great!! First time at the place and it's super cute. The sushi chefs are super nice. The servers could work on their smiles more. Also they should clarify the hand roll from the happy hour and the other one because I paid more than I thought because it wasn't clarified and I specifically wanted the happy hour one and pointed at the happy hour one. But other than that I recommend.

Yelp
Growing up in Elk Grove, it was nice to come back and see a hand roll bar had opened up in recent years! It's located in a quieter business complex in the middle of Elk Grove. I love that they offer a happy hour daily, even on the weekends. We started with a 3-handroll set with salmon, spicy tuna, and negihama. I enjoyed the salmon the most because it let the fish shine. This is my 3rd time visiting and I noticed their sauces are often quite citrusy, which may be good for some people's taste but personally a bit too much for me. I also got the fresh oysters another topped with yuzu jelly & definitely could have skipped the lemon squeeze. Nori was also not the crispiest (though I am comparing to Socal standards). Friendly staff and overall good service.
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
Came here to eat on a random Thursday night and they had $3 Sake bombs! Our server was amazing and very attentive as always. I noticed they expanded their indoor seating a bit which is amazing because business here is usually booming. Music is always great and the Uni toast is always on my order. I would say during this visit that the salmon was different quality than other times i've gone. It wasn't terrible though my daughter loves their salmon. As always they updated and rotated the menu items.

Yelp
As a sushi fan, I was excited to try this establishment for the first time last night. Hello Temaki did not disappoint! It is very spacious inside and I love how the sushi bar is situated - central to the whole restaurant with tables placed around the perimeter of the building. The service was friendly and attentive from first contact with the hostess to all throughout the night with our waitress. She was helpful in suggesting items off the menu and promptly tended to our asks. As a party of 4, we opted to share a lot of the food items in order to get a sampling of many things. We ordered grilled oysters, tempura green beans, salmon hand rolls, and a few sushi rolls (lemon wave, lady in red, and uncle John). Collectively we enjoyed the lemon wave roll most. It was so balanced and had a refreshing bite. The other rolls were also tasty and unique and flavor. No complaints from me. As a downside, we all thought the oysters were just too huge to enjoy. As people who would rather slurp oysters as opposed to bite and chew through their gross texture, the size made it impossible to do this. But, oysters are good for you, so we ate them anyway, trying not to gag. It felt a little like trying to compete for a million dollars on Fear Factor, if you remember that show haha. If I'm in the area again, I will make sure to keep Hello Temaki in mind for another visit. There is plenty to explore on the menu that will leave you eager to come again.

Yelp
Went to for the happy hour menu and it was worth it! We wanted to order one of everything but we did show some restraint . The choices we made were all delicious! Presentation all on point! Service thumbs up We ordered the furikake fries and the garlic string beans portions was very generous and great crunch to both and taste so good. We tried a couple of their hand rolls fish was fresh and good ratio to the rice. Fun eating the katsu skewers was like a big lollipop pork wasn't dry but juicy. Also tried the pepperfin which was good but would have preferred the sauce not to be so acidic. Now the deserts that was another level of goodness! Had the ube cheese cake and the crème brûlée. Just look at the picture I posted and you'll understand why hahaha Overall very happy and satisfied!

Yelp
I love temaki. My one true love is Kazunori. IYKYK. So I was extremely excited for this inclusion to the EG neighborhood. Now I've been here many times since it's opening - must be a year plus. The menu really grew over time and now I don't even see something from the past. Like bring back the chrysanthemum tempura. That one was so good! But now we have a lot more hand roll and a really affordable Happy Hours menu that can save me a couple of bucks. Yay. Previously gotten the hr combo. The 5 piece is just right. I think it's decently priced and I like the variety. Taste was pretty on point. Have been venturing out with trying different type of hand rolls as well so I'm still trying different things. Yesterday the tempura unagi was a favorite from the happy hour menu. I also liked the tsubugai. I didn't love the ika mentai but it could just be me. We try table side this time but usually the bar is the better hand roll experience. It took them some extra time to get our food out so I'm glad it was a Saturday where I could just chill in the restaurant a bit. I wanted to try the sawagani on the special board but they didn't have it so I would recommend looking at the board and ask ahead to save some time. Our last thing that came out was the kisu tempura. I think I would prefer it to have a stronger tartar sauce - their egg tartar sauce is a bit mild so it didn't give a good kick to the tempura. However I'm impressed by the service. Since it took extra time to come out they gave us extra pieces. They also were super kind and keep check up on us. I am very appreciative of the exceptional service. If we ever read my other reviews - there was some other sushi spot I will not name that didn't care that it took forever for their subpar sushi to come out. But I appreciate how Hello Temaki take care of their customers. I am going to visit them more.

Yelp
Popped in on a Friday for a lunch date with my mom. Was seated immediately. Service was good. Restaurant was clean and the vibes were minimalistic. Hot tea was good! I ordered various items from the Happy Hour menu. Prices ranged from $5, $7 and $12 per item from that menu. Gyoza, fried oysters, truffle hamachi, katsu skewers. My mom ordered a sushi roll. We shared everything and it was filling. Ingredients were high quality and fresh. I would return again. I am interested in trying their $15 bottomless mimosas on Sundays

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday here tonight (Sunday 3/2/25) and the dinner was amazing! Everything we ordered was super flavorful and fresh! The service (Denise) was exceptional and she gave some great recommendations and was so sweet! The sushi chefs were great too, the food came out at a great pace... The vibes, the decor, and their stone entree plates are gorgeous, and the great portions and fresh seafood will keep us coming back! Don't change your menu- everything here was on point! I loved the look of this sushi spot! P.s. They even played some awesome music that made our meal even more enjoyable! Was it the "Usher" playlist? If so, let's gooooooo!!!!

Yelp
After coming a handful of times now, I really love Hello Temaki. It's the spot I'll take friends from out of town to try and it has even become a spot where I'll come to during lunch on weekdays. They have a weekday happy hour menu that I tend to order the gyozas and spicy tuna hand roll off of as a starter, and depending on how hungry I am, I either order a few more hand rolls for a lighter lunch or I'll opt for the bento box if I want something to fill me up more. My favorite hand roll is the Aburi Salmon hand roll. It's seared salmon with a sweet soy sauce that makes it really good. I also like the classic salmon hand roll and spicy tuna hr. Their Udon Noodle Soup is good and comforting for when it's cold out--the broth is slightly sweet and not too sweet in a good way. For drinks, my favorite cocktail is the lychee sojutini. It is so refreshing and better than most lychee martinis that I've had. They also have beer and sake I believe on their happy hour menu which is nice to have as an option. The servers and chefs have all been very friendly and attentive. I certainly will be returning for the good food here.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday night around 6:45 and was seated right away. Service is great here and the place is cute and clean. Got the nigiri and hand rolls which were both so yummy! My favorite was the yuzu negihama and omg it was so so yummy, definitely coming back to eat this again! Only downside is the plastic they put on the seaweed which i get to keep the shape and seaweed fresh but it was such a inconvenience and parts of the hand roll just fall off when you need to take it off
google avatar

KC C.

Yelp
Loved it! We checked out Hello Temaki for the first time with a group of four, and it was such a great experience! We all went with the lunch bento boxes, and everyone picked two different options, so we got to try a good variety. The food was beautifully presented, super fresh and tasted great. The vibe inside is really nice. The wood interior and big open windows give it a warm, airy feel, and the space is pretty big. Parking was also super easy, which is always a bonus, plenty of parking. Service was good, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. For dessert, we ordered the Ube cheesecake with the green tea ice cream and wow. They also had lychee ice cream but were out. It was almost too pretty to eat, but we're so glad we did! The balance of flavors was perfect, not too sweet, with just the right amount of Ube and cheesecake. We'll have to come back and just try the different hand rolls.

Yelp
Just wanted to start by saying the quality of fish here is exceptional. The escolar sashimi and scallops were fresh and extremely tender. The 5-set handroll was great as well. My favorite of the five were the tuna and escolar. Quality here is one of the better spots in the Elk Grove area. The staff here is extremely friendly and welcoming. However, at times they weren't as attentive to my table and didn't bring the water until we sat down for around 15-20 minutes. Plastic wraps were a surprise that I had here. I think the plastic wrap that comes with each handroll was somewhat tedious. It made the experience really messy and somewhat awkward to eat, especially in quite an intimate dine-in experience. Otherwise, I think they could forego the plastic sheets and keep the handroll easier to eat!
google avatar

Clarissa F.

Yelp
Really like the vibe here. Pretty modern-chill sushi restaurant. The first time I visited, they specialized in hand rolls. And if I'm not mistaken, its their sushi which is eaten, what I like to reference, a taco. Taco being the seaweed. Interesting concept but since then, they offer a sushi menu which is really good with everything else. Especially the appetizers. They have counter sitting by the sushi chefs. Staff is friendly and I enjoy going here. But I haven't made it my "go-to" place when other sushi places offer half-off on their menu. I'll support this sushi restaurant as best as I can. So I'll tell everyone , if you haven't tried it, go and try it. Its delicious.
google avatar

Krystal W.

Yelp
3.75/5 in total. I got the hand roll set menu 7/10. For the price the options were not amazing compared to other restaurants. The escolar was the best one. I also ordered the oysters which were fresh and tasty. 10/10. It was aesthetically pleasing. All in all, I rather go to a different restaurant with more options. The staff were very friendly.

Yelp
Been a while but I'm back. What a better way to get back to reviewing than to go to a place that serves seafood. And you what is the most important thing about the sea?? You guessed it! It's the water. And the water here at Hello Temaki does not disappoint. Chilled with just a few thin cubes of ice and a lemon slice. It was perfectly refreshing as a I noticed the decor murals of black and grey tones with touches of blue/teal for... You guessed it the water! The focus on the water was greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Yelp
Wonderful welcoming kind service, attentive chefs, and delightful selection of food to choose from! I tried the lady in red sushi roll and it was delicious, and crafted beautifully. Inside is so beautiful as you can view the chefs preparing the sushi if you sit at the bar / counter area. I enjoyed my time here. During lunch time, they have their happy hour menu but on Mondays it's all day, and you can enjoy some appetizers, small plates, and hand rolls. I look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Awesome spot in Elk Grove! Very unique - a lot of sushi spots, but not many hand rolls places. The decor is modern, with open concept kitchen. Tables are spaced out nicely. The service was impeccable - we came with a 10wk old and she was fussy, the waitress asked if she could help walk the stroller around the restaurant and ended up putting us in the private room in case our baby cried! We got 5 hand rolls and the uni pasta! Every was delicious with good texture, flavors, and freshness. The spicy scallop was so good! Uni was fresh and silky smooth. Overall, great experience but definitely on the more pricey side!

Yelp
We decided to try this place since they're participating in Elk Grove restaurant week. Service was great, with fast and friendly service. The three-piece hand roll set was a good sampler-the salmon hand roll was my favorite. We were really impressed with the rolls. The lemon wave was our favorite, though the lady in red was also very good too. The fish was fresh and they weren't overwhelmed with sauce like a lot of places like Sushi-q. We only wish there had maybe a handful more roll selections to pick from! While it's on the pricey side, it's well worth it for a special occasion. We definitely plan on returning here in the future!

Yelp
This is our first time to Hello Temaki. We've heard about the store from coworkers before and we finally tried it today. The staff is very nice. Polite and friendly and speedy. The ambience is nice. We went after lunch hour rush on a Saturday around 2pm and the store is almost empty. Only 1 table with 2 girls as customers. I definitely will love to come to this place for ladies lunch and chit chat! Very nice ambiance! We got to-go and they prepare it very fast. It is located next to Pokemon gym so I just place the order, beat that gym before picking up again. The food is good. We've heard all about their rolls/fresh ingredients, and we were very surprised we actually liked their bento boxes way more than their rolls! They have rolls set, but they didn't allow substitutions. Unfortunately almost all the sets have that specific fish we are sensitive except one, so we just picked that 3 hand rolls set. The specific fish was Escolar, which is not a popular fish especially Asia, and sometimes people tummy cannot handle this fish well. While we have not tried this specific fish from Hello Temaki, we don't want to chance it. It would be nice to allow elimination of certain ingredients from a set or have more set options. No biggie though. The teriyaki dishes, both Salmon and Chicken, is probably the best in EG! It is very good. The tonkatsu is good too, a bit too thin which is typical style in America. Crispy, fresh, and not oily. I was surprised I love their salad. Very fresh with the sweet grated onion sauce. Ok so now if everything was so good, why 4 stars? The problem is there is comparison. There is another Japanese restaurant down the road, food comparable and much better priced. That other restaurant has cheaper bento with additional appetizers (fried dumplings, korokke, with choice of tempura/California rolls). So for sit down dine-in experience with a friend/coworker, I will prefer Hello Temaki. For family or big gathering or take out, from a long run price point of view, I might pick the other one (especially when my wallet is empty). I will definitely return and highly recommend this restaurant. P.S. I am not a fan of the plastic sheet in a sushi bar. If you are at a convenience store, mass production at low cost while trying to keep ingredients crisp/fresh, that might make sense. If you are at a wannabe high end sushi bar, it is just messy, non-environmental friendly, and defeat the purpose. It seems a good idea for take out but true high end sushi restaurant don't do takeout and to-go... this in-between gimmick just increase the cost of operation. And if you really need a sheet of plastic for a 5-minute bite, then it is too much sauce.

Yelp
Hello Temaki is the first hand roll bar in Elk Grove! Here's what we ordered: Note: I came in during soft opening so some of the items and pricing may have been altered since my visit. * Garlic Salmon Carpaccio ($16): You could SEE the fatty marbling in it, melt in your mouth good! * Pork Katsu Skewers ($7): Cute little katsu lollipops. The panko was nice and crunchy with the pork still being juicy inside * 3 Hand Roll Set ($22): My ranking of these go 1) Yuzu Negihama 2) Salmon 3) Spicy Tuna * Ocean Trout ($9): Suuuper savory! I think I would've liked it more if I didn't already have so many other garlic-flavored dishes * 5 Hand Roll Set ($38): The Kanpachi Hand Roll is TOP TIER!! I love refreshing sushi and this hit all the right marks for me * King Crab ($12): This NEEDS the little juicer. Don't be shy, use it all hehe Hello Temaki has perfected the mouth-sized roll! My usual issue with "open" temaki is that when you take a bite, everything comes spilling out the back and into your hand. Nooo issue with that here! If you're not at the bar, they serve your temaki with plastic covering to keep the nori fresh and crispy, but I don't think that works completely as the warm rice will still soften the nori if you take a while to eat your rolls. I'd still recommend sitting at the bar for the best experience.

Yelp
Every single one of you who lives within driving distance of Hello Temaki should be eating here routinely. This is absolutely superb nigiri sushi in the best of contemporary Tokyo style. It also helps that the Agedashi Tofu, salad, oyster shooters, and drinks are first class. The ambiance in this space is fantastic. Yes, it's sitting in a strip mall, but so is Hanada Sushi down in Port Hueneme, and it is also a sublime experience. Could it be that this is the future for sushi in our state? Maybe. City locations may just be too expensive for true sushi restaurants. The interior is beautiful. It is. The team is so capable, skillful, energized. If you live around Elk Grove, Hello Temaki should be a point of pride for you. Bring your NYC and LA and SF guests here. Truly, this is an amazing value.

Yelp
This was a pretty disappointing experience unfortunately. In a nutshell, they are trying to copy Kazunori in LA, at double the cost, and without the deftness and expertise of proportions and preparations that make Kazunori a success. It was definitely not worth the money to eat here - this meal was a complete disaster. The beautiful photos of the perfectly crafted hand rolls you see on social media will not be what you get here - what you will get are hand rolls made by those who don't understand the balance between the crisp seaweed, the amount of perfectly cooked warm sushi rice, the pleasure of holding a freshly prepared crisp piece of seaweed with a dollop of freshly hot seasoned sushi rice with the right amount of fresh sashimi prepared with the right proportion of seasoning, etc. This was the case with all six hand rolls I ordered. They had all the right elements but the chefs didn't understand how to pair, prepare, or serve them to make the ingredients sing. Kind of like serving a hamburger with more cheese than meat, too much ketchup, soggy buns, etc. The sushi rice preparation tells you everything you need to know regarding the chef - if the sushi rice is prepared knowledgeably then everything else will be prepared well too. Unfortunately here the sushi rice was cold and stuck together to begin with; and did not have enough of the mildly sweet lightly salted mirin (rice vinegar). The plastic sleeves covering the seaweed were atrocious and definitely defeated the purpose of keeping the seaweed crisp because it caused the sauce to pool for some rolls causing the seaweed to be soggy and limp in the middle while also scattering the rice and filling everywhere - forcing me to eat the "hand rolls" with chopsticks because of how messy it was. The hamachi was grey and unappetizing, definitely marinated at least one night before; and they were made from the odds and ends and not the high quality pieces you'd get from other establishments, including the aforementioned Kazunori. All of the dabs of premade frozen wasabi sauces, chilis, etc. were way out of proportion. If they had used 1/10th the amount of the frozen wasabi sauce the taste would have been much better but instead they glopped on so much it was an explosion of saltiness that detracted from the flavor of the salmon for example. The amount used was the equivalent of drowning a hamburger in a cup of ketchup. The total cost of the meal with a 20% tip was $57 for six hand rolls. I don't mind paying that for expertly executed hand rolls with delicately balanced flavors and textures but these were ham-handed, throw-more-spice-and-seasonings-on in the hopes that it'll turn out well. I don't think they tasted their own creations but instead believed the hype they generated online. I added back one star for the very nice waitress who patiently donned gloves and demonstrated how to pull the plastic sleeves off ("if the rice comes off on the plastic then use a finger to push the rice back onto the seaweed") - this entire exchange should have given the owners pause - these are hand rolls and part of the pleasure of eating them is touching the food. The entire experience was just wrong, lol. The food was definitely a one-star, unfortunately. They are making a wide profit because they are charging more than what Kazunori does but serving inferior quality fish, covering up the lower quality by using excess amounts of spice.

Yelp
Love this place! Their hand rolls are absolutely my favorite. I usually order the 3 roll set and it never disappoints, always fresh and delicious. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming with great vibes all around. Definitely one of favorite spots when I crave sushi/hand rolls, and I'll keep coming back!

Yelp
I had the best experience at Hello Temaki! Everything from start to finish was absolutely amazing the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every roll we tried was packed with so much taste and you can really tell they put care into every detail. What made the visit even more special was the service. Our server, Melicity, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She was warm, attentive, and so knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made the whole dining experience feel welcoming and fun. If you're looking for great sushi with even better vibes, Hello Temaki is definitely the place to go. Thank you Melicity and the team for making our visit memorable I'll 100% be back!

Yelp
had an incredible experience at Hello Temaki! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and modern -- the perfect setting for fresh, high-quality sushi and hand rolls. Chef Vu is truly a master at his craft. Every roll was beautifully prepared with the freshest ingredients, bursting with flavor in every bite. The hand rolls were the highlight -- crisp seaweed, perfectly seasoned rice, and fish that melted in my mouth. You can really taste the care and attention that goes into each piece. The service was just as outstanding as the food. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff made the whole experience feel personal and memorable. If you're looking for the best sushi and hand rolls in town, Hello Temaki with Chef Vu is the spot. I'll definitely be coming back again and again!

Yelp
I took my grandma to Hello Temaki in the afternoon for her birthday. I must say the atmosphere and aesthetic is top notch. A great place for an intimate meal with friends and family. We ordered the salmon, spicy tuna, ika mentai, aburi salmon, spicy hokkaido scallop, & soft shell crab hand roll. I will say the seaweed didn't come off the wrapper in one piece. It constantly broke even though we followed the directions. It's the only downside, but the food was great. You can tell the fish and rice are fresh. Definitely would recommend if you love seafood/sushi/Japanese food! The service also was good for the most part. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in the beginning. We didn't have anyone check on us when our food came out, so that was the only issue with the service.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite things we ordered had to have been the Uni pasta. It was savory, creamy, and the Uni was perfectly oceany. It's very rich, so I suggest sharing it so you aren't overwhelmed with the richness of it all. Everything we ordered was delicious. Each of the hand rolls came with a generous amount of filling. And every dish had its own unique flavor. My favorite hand roll had to have been the yuzu negihama. I'm a fan of the citrus flavor permeating every piece of fish. .

Yelp
Nice location. From a distance, it looks close but it's not. Parking is ok, can be busy depending on when you're there. Food is delicious, on point. I ordered online for pickup but next time I'll dine in.

Yelp
Ambiance: Long counter so that customers can see the chef craft each of the handrolls. An intimate yet lively atmosphere. Service: You can tell that the chef put in lots of time and work to get the handrolls out to us looking perfect as ever! Food: This was my first time trying a hand roll sushi bar and it was honestly an amazing first experience. Food was spectacular and all the seafood was so fresh. Some standout dishes in our opinion was Uni Toast, Tempura Garlic String Beans, and Yuzu Negihama Handroll. First off, uni toast, it was sooo soo buttery and rich, and the toast was nice and toasty, I thought it might be soggy with all the toppings but not at all. I'm not usually a big fan of tempura but I might just be now. I love how flavorful the tempura was, you don't even need sauce or anything, just so good as it. Finally the handroll was very umaand I loved the selection of sauces that it came with.

Yelp
Thank God for some variety in Elk Grove. The food scene may just be getting started. Hello Temaki in Elk Grove recently opened (this is a late review) and we had to visit. They specialize in hand rolls and with this massive wooden bar seating arrangement it sets up the perfect atmosphere for a lively and engaging experience. We started with the Wagyu sliders, not exactly what you'd expect at a sushi bar, but surprisingly tasty. They were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked with a slight pink in the middle, quite satisfying. We also had some oysters and scallop shooters as appetizers. The King Crab hand roll was a standout. The crab was fresh and sweet, enhanced by crispy, fried garlic. My favorite was the Toro and Uni hand roll. It was rich and indulgent, a real treat for any seafood lover. We also shared a soju mule, which was well-mixed and complemented our meal nicely. Cheers! Overall, I'd say Hello Temaki is worth a try, especially for its more unique offerings. It's a solid addition to the growing local dining scene, and I can see myself coming back to try more dishes.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to try something new than the usual sushi spot and found Hello Temaki specializing in their different variety of Handrolls. We tried so many of them but our favorite was definitely the spicy scallop HR it was so buttery melt in your mouth good. I have to say all the handrolls have really good flavor profiles and the quality of the fish is really fresh. You can tell that they really care about their craft here. The customer service was wonderful our waiter was very attentive and helped me figure out some of the items on the menu. We came in for lunch so we got to have some of the happy hour items to try and we enjoyed watching to see how the wonderful chef Yoshi made everything. We definitely will come back!

Yelp
It's a nice place for sushi and it's more toward the expensive side but it's worth it for the experience. It's took a little longer for the food to come out. The Crème Brûlée is the by far my favorite. The plastic on the hand roll can be a little struggle to get it out. The uni toast is pretty yummy. The staff are friendly.

Yelp
Hand rolls are their specialty and it definitely delivered on that. Eat them ASAP before the seaweed is soggy. Only one of the hand-rolls I wasn't a fan of but that's more of a preference not them being bad. Uni Toast was INCREDIBLE. Raw oysters were amazing as well. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.
