"Both the laksa and prawn mee are made to order and come in three sizes. Their hallmark laksa is doused in a rich aromatic broth and topped with prawns, fried fish cake, fried tofu and cockles." - Michelin Inspector

Heng Heng Cooked Food Stall has rightfully earned its Michelin recommendation in 2024, standing out as a noteworthy destination for Singaporean street food enthusiasts. Their laksa is deeply aromatic and bursting with rich, flavourful broth, complemented by generously portioned fresh ham and prawns. While the dish excels in quality and generosity, diners who seek the nostalgic taste of traditional laksa might notice a subtle difference from the original essence. However, one unique touch is the availability of laksa leaves, allowing customers to enhance their bowls according to personal preference—an appreciated gesture that elevates the experience. Equally impressive is their prawn mee, which strikes a perfect balance between a robust, umami-rich broth and well-cooked noodles, harmonizing beautifully with the freshness of the prawns. It’s a dish that resonates well with all ages, particularly children, making it a fantastic option for families. Overall, Heng Heng Cooked Food Stall is undoubtedly worth a visit. The food is well-executed, portions are generous, and the pricing remains reasonable, making it an accessible spot to enjoy high-quality local flavours. Whether you're craving a comforting bowl of laksa or a delightful serving of prawn mee, this stall promises a satisfying culinary experience.

Tried their laksa after reading many good reviews … and it didn’t disappoint 😋 The thick beehoon noodle is cooked nicely, not over/ under cooked, giving it good bounciness 👍🏼 The prawn & cockles are pretty fresh too. The star of the dish is the broth ⭐️⭐️⭐️ the amazing flavours combined with the nice balance of umami with santan (coconut milk) and a tinge of spiciness. The lady owner is really nice & friendly but be warned that the service is a bit slow, resulting in a pretty long queue … but then again, why rush? It’s worthwhile to wait some time for something good 😊

The prawn noodles exhibit a delightful balance. The dry version, when combined with the stall’s distinctive chili paste, creates a harmonious flavor profile. The broth, meanwhile, achieves the perfect consistency—neither overly thick nor opaque, showcasing a refined culinary technique.

Not sure how they got their Michelin. Not sure why is high rating as there’s no prawn broth taste. I ordered the medium size for 2 bowls of laksa and 1 prawn soup noodle. Laksa gravy just plain sweetness, fish cake, cockles, tau pok. Laksa leaves also cannot save this dish. As for the prawn noodle, same sweetness and just thin prawn n fish cakes. No prawn broth whatsoever. Total disappointment and I still cannot comprehend the long queue. Why would they need to add so much sugar?

The prawn noodle soup with sweetness from prawns. Missing usual slices of pork meat in serving and slightly pricier than my usual stalls. Overall, a delicious prawn noodle, but perhaps could be improved with the addition of pork meat in it.

Strong prawn taste laksa if you like prawn taste. The soup is tasty but not thick enough for my liking. A lot of cockles though the size is small

Chanced upon this stall inside Yuhua market and food centre that sells laksa and prawn noodle. there was already a long queue when I was there, probably there are about 8pax ahead of me. Laksa and prawn noodle starts from SGD$4 onward. Queue moved pretty fast to be honest, it took less around 10mins before it was my turn to order. wanted to order the small portion but due to some miscommunication, end up having the SGD$5 portion instead. The bowl of laksa came with cockles, sliced prawns, fishcake and taupok. Gravy's consistency wasn't too thick and tasted very lemak. Seems like this is one of the popular stalls over at this food centre. Wouldn't mind trying their prawn noodle next time.

Google
Laksa and prawn noodle available at this stall, value price for good food. Laksa maybe a better option to choose unless can take both at same seating. Good price portion ratio, friendly and cheerful staff. Expect queue at this stall.

Yelp
The heartlands hawker struggles with a particular conundrum; the need to satisfy the demands of an increasingly sophisticated Singaporean palate whilst keeping costs within the affordability of a heartlands diner's budget. The answer as it so often is these days is the middle ground of solid mediocrity. The offerings are still traditionally prepared, but come off as somewhat 2 dimensional and simple when compared to more robust offerings readily available in Singapore. At the same time, one has to realize that these are solid workaday classics that Heng Heng is churning out inexpensively. This is food that people count on and get by on daily. These quotidian classics are not luxury items. The originals were never created to be luxury items in the first place, but the result of progressive sophistication and a slow gentrification and up-scaling of humble street classics has resulted in permanently elevated expectations of a bowl of laksa or prawn mee. The laksa is well-represented. The broth holds its own and has enough depth to be described as creamy. I personally think that the addition of cockles (an optional item) fills a gap nicely in this particular rendition of Singapore laksa. All I have to say about the prawn noodles are that it'll fill you up. If I want a bowl of prawn noodles, I will take the trouble to hoof it all the way to Blanco in Jalan Kayu. Heng Heng is A-OK. Well worth your while to stop by and have a bowl of whatever's cooking that day and looks good.
