Yelp
This is a long-time favorite for some Shreveporters. I've visited twice, maybe thrice. Decades ago, the high-school crowd loved it as a source of beer. (I was not among them.)
It's VERY old, which is (I suppose) part of the charm. As "Unkie Moe" might say, it has "a lot of crazy crap on the walls," at least in the enclosed patio. The patio floor was sticky.
Service was good and the servers pleasant, especially considering that our sizable group overwhelmed them at lunchtime (they were, of course, warned).
Food: meh. The famous Shrimp Buster sandwich doesn't deserve its fame--four large shrimp, butterflied, flattened significantly and with with great violence, battered without notable seasoning, then deep fried and placed on an opened, grilled bun--served with some almost-flavored sauce, one forkful of flavorless Cole slaw, and a hearty serving of decent French Fries. A "Baby Buster" version is available--two shrimp instead of four, for a few dollars less.
Crawfish etoufee: more of a thin gravy, no tomatoes. Not unpleasant, but not enticing.
The burgers looked good. A very large chef's salad looked good as well. Various fried shrimp items looked good.
In all: Herby K's food is more about the memories than the food. The beer is plentiful. But if it's your thing, bon appetit!
