I was excited to try this place, as someone who eats very clean. I was somewhat disappointed after seeing the preparation of my tofu dish, and sweet chili Brussel sprout side dish.
First of all, the tofu was not prepared well. It was just grilled in both sides, just for the sake of showing grill marks. It was not cooked through, neither was it seasoned. It was so bland. I cook tofu all the time. It's never like this. Additionally; the slices are cut too thick, and so, it cannot get cooked through properly, for the time that it is put on the grill. Season the tofu with a good amount of salt & black pepper, and natural seasoning, then put it to grill a bit longer. The only good thing about it was that it wasn't fried. Which bring me to my next point.
Why would you mess up a perfectly good dish, like Brussel sprouts, by deep frying it in unhealthy oil, then adding some additional chili sauce to it? This dish SWIMS in oil... literally!! I had to throw mine in the garbage... because that's what it was: garbage. You don't "DEEP FRY" excellent Brussel sprouts. Season them with salt & black pepper, then bake them, steam them, grill them, air fry them, toast them. Just don't DEEP FRY THEM IN OIL... EVER!! You can't advertise the store to have "healthy" options; then do that to the vegetables. Everything doesn't need to be fried. Clogged arteries, people.
Fix these 2 dishes mentioned, and then those options can save the "healthy" label of this place. I had to go next door to Nekter Juice Bar, and buy a Toxin Flush natural drink, to ensure that nothing was going to harm me from that l this meal. Their juices were PHENOMENAL. ALL NATURAL.
In closing: Master the tofu in that tofu dish (cook it.... especially better. Get it seasoned); stop frying your Brussel sprouts. You're defeating the purpose of this powerful vegetable, canceling its effects. You're losing customers by doing this. You lost me. Just grill the thing, or toast/roast it. Get the char on it, but not by frying it in oil. Sprinkle salt & pepper on it, too.
