"After eight years in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village, chefs Guy and Tif Meikle built an unstuffy caviar bar and restaurant that celebrated their Eastern European roots and welcomed the diverse identities of staff and neighborhood patrons. They helped make sturgeon eggs approachable and fun, incorporated staff memories into the concept, and served oysters, cocktails, classic Eastern European entrees, paczki and other European staples alongside international dishes like ramen and Korean fried chicken nuggets. The operation weathered a fire and the pandemic, hosted regular summer events (including an August 1 block party and a Father’s Day lamb roast), and kept a basement available for private parties.
