A 2025 finalist in local best-of lists, this mushroom-centric truck flips expectations with lion’s mane “burgers,” melty mushroom melts, and veggie-forward sides. It partners with local growers and leans into inventive, plant-powered comfort food.

I went to my cousin’s food truck the first day I got into Missouri and am still thinking about it two days later lol wow! When I tell you that I ate this bacon cheeseburger deluxe at 1:30pm and at 10:30pm I was wondering what I’d eaten that day cause not only was I not hungry, I was full!! Fattest, tastiest burger I’d ever eaten and he makes all his burgers like that and juicy. Lol mmm mm good and I’m not talking about Cambell’s! Follow Hero's New York Griddle and check them out for yourselves! He is super funny very real and down to Earth. But that delicious food that has a homemade feel to it is unmatched.

Just grabbed a burger and fries first time from Hero’s food truck at work and it was great . The burger tasted like a grill burger the patty was thick and the fries were potato fries. The guy was also very cool who did the ordering.

Yelp
Love this food truck! I've had just about everything on the menu. Service is always fun. This is my go to guy/ place for a BLT. You can usually call ahead for less wait time.

Yelp
I really hate leaving negative reviews but there's just too much wrong here that's happened more than once. My burger was literally raw in the middle, coworkers noticed the same as well. Photo in indoor light doesn't do it justice. Some of my coworkers waited up to 90 minutes for their food. This is after scheduling him ahead of time, so he wasn't surprised by a sudden crowd. If you're not able to accommodate a group without undercooking the food to a dangerous degree, don't commit to cater a lunch. If you don't know what a medium-cooked burger looks like, invest in a meat thermometer. Also, on a personal level, calling women cutesy pet names in such a contrived manner is super off-putting. I really couldn't tell if he was hitting on me or if he heard a New Yorker call a woman "Beautiful" one time and he was trying to stay on brand.

Yelp
Where do I begin? I highly suspect these empanadas were not hand made and instead were frozen. The filling of ground beef was lacking in flavor in big ways. Oh gosh and that 'special' mayo and ketchup sauce he threw in did nothing to compliment the empanada( Cains sauce is much better). Appreciate the two slimy pieces of unappetizing lettuce to try and give a gourmet feel to the dish, but it did quite the opposite. Just an all around overpriced garbage meal from a garbage food truck. I'll throw in this picture I found of the empanada on the web. So to all readers, let this review serve as a reminder to you so that you can avoid a huge food disappointment.

Yelp
I'm really happy I didn't read the prior reviews before coming here, because if I had, I likely would've skipped it. Food too maybe 10 minutes, with one other person in front of me. Got the bacon, egg, and cheese hero combo 2. Good amount of food for the price. Don't think I'll come back on this trip, but would in the future!

Yelp
Saw these guys at a First Friday and saw that they offered cubano sandwiches. I thought they were over priced. but the sandwich was good, we did have to wait a while to get our food. But overall, the staff was friendly.

Yelp
Randomly picked this truck for a quick bite. I'm originally from the NYC area so I was excited to give it a try. The owner struck up a conversation with me and guided me and my partner to try the beef empanadas as well as the twin towers burger. I was expecting ground beef but was pleasantly surprised to find the filling to consist of diced veg and diced beef. The shell was perfectly flaky and crispy, the filling was piping hot and delicious. I couldn't get a picture because I wolfed them down so fast. It came with a standard pink sauce (ketchup/mayo) that went well on the fries. The twin tower burger is a behemoth. I'll let the picture speak for itself. It looks big, even in my partner's giant hands (he's nearly 7 feet tall and built like a bull). All in all I'll be returning.

Yelp
You're doing this to yourself. Stop blaming others for your actions. Take the responsibility acknowledging your wrong doings and apologize. I don't know if you're from kansas city or not, but we like to treat other people with respect and try to own up to our mistakes and learn from them. We are kind and decent human beings. Is it at all possible that your food just wasn't that good that night, and you gave bad service? Probably. No one's perfect. You handled this situation extremely poorly.

Yelp
These guys were at the Lenexa Food Truck fair on 6/10/2016. Reader beware of a negative review. The line was backed up at the Lenexa Food Truck fair, so I anticipated that it would be a good experience dining at Hero's New York Griddle. Unfortunately, the delay was due to some major lag in the cooking line. Talking to a few of the patrons waiting, I learned that the average wait time was approximately 40 minutes (one dude was going on 50 minutes for a Cubano). I pressed on due to the claim of "NY style" food & assorted items, the Dominican cuisine claim was what kept my interest peaked. I was feeding my kids, and was wanting to keep it simple. I ordered two hot dogs, two empinadas, and one order of French fries. Simple... Quick... Easy... Boy, was I wrong! We waited, and waited, and waited... for 35 minutes! Once the food came, I realized that it was not worth the wait. The fries were the frozen sort that you buy in bulk at a restaurant supply company, and were exactly what you would expect. While they were hot, they forgot to season them. The hot dogs were nuked, and totally burnt which made my kids refuse to eat them. Still, I held out hope for the glorious empinadas. They came piping hot, and served with a side of some kind of creamy, and spicy orange colored diping sauce. While the meat and veggie combo was flavorful inside the empinadas, it was a bit on the high sodium side. The dipping sauce was watered down, and had a little kick but it wasn't anything memorable. Overall, I felt like I could have had a better $16 dining experience elsewhere.

Yelp
All I can say is disgusting! Raisins mixed in some form of beef mystery meat in burnt shells??? I will never again eat from this food truck! Long wait and even if it was good, food was overpriced small portions

Yelp
Called on Saturday and arranged for Hero's New York Griddle to do an event at my sons fraternity in Lawrence the next day. He was able to help me set up a menu and 50 cubano paninis were devoured! Owner was super easy to work with and the food was AMAZING!

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches! We've eaten here twice. Had the Cubano and Bacon Cheeseburger. Both times they were delicious! Love food trucks.

Yelp
I am really glad I read the 1 and 2 star reviews before trying our this food truck! It is clear that the snowflakes really don't like this guy! Get over yourselves people, and stop being insulted by literally everything! Good grief! The poor reviews are ridiculous, and I am not sure those people even tried the food. I had both the chicken and beef empanadas, and both were excellent, but especially the beef! The beef one was one of the best I have ever had in KC! I also had the Cubano sandwich, which was messy (I was warned!), but well worth it! Great flavor, and I look forward to coming back and trying the Westport Pig Melt next! You gotta try this place!

Yelp
Way too expensive for way too little food, and way too slow. 15 bucks won't even fill you up and you'll have to wait close to half an hour.

Nobuo F.

Yelp
The food is great. And portion size is huge especially for the quality and price. This is my go to food truck when it comes by my work.
