Hey Jack, Camas Restaurant with a Michelin-Starred Chef, Is Now Open - Eater Portland

"The new restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Peter Rudolph opened in Camas last night, and opening night, as quiet as it was, seems to have been a hit. After a year on the road with his family, the former Madera chef joined up with California industry alum Don Riedthaler to open a pseudo-casual restaurant on 4th Avenue. As promised, the menu features Pacific rock fish, salmon, and Reister Farms lamb, as well as a hearty number of vegetable plates like charred cucumber with trout roe and artichokes with eggplant puree. The menu will likely change often, but prices seem to range between $4 to $15 for appetizers and $25 to $29 for entrees. The restaurant hasn’t made a huge wave on social media yet, but those who hit Hey Jack opening night (or during the VIP dinner) are raving. Local Instagram name Daniel Barnett (@aboyandhiscity) said his dinner at the restaurant was “one of the most memorable meals I’ve had... possibly ever. Nothing was an afterthought. No component was there to just fill out a dish.” Hey Jack doesn’t have a Yelp page yet, but folks who tagged the restaurant on Instagram use words like “delicious,” “heaven,” and “creative.” Hey Jack now has a working OpenTable for reservations, as well as posted menus on the website. The restaurant is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, with a Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This place was yum. Had the quail with butternut squash appetizer, pork with polenta, side of cauliflower, and this yummy lemon dessert. I'm surprised they let me stay after catching the menu on fire!

The best restaurant in town! The owners are so nice and the food is AWESOME! Some people said the portions are too small but I think they are perfect for one or to share! I definitely recommend the flourless Chocolate cake! My family is friends with the chef! 100 stars!

I had the honor of attending the soft opening of Hey Jack last night. The restaurant small and cozy. The tables are hand crafted by the owners and are stunning to look at. Michelin Starred Chef Peter, created the menu to feature locally sourced Vegetables, Lamb and Salmon. The menu will change as the seasonal vegetables become ripe and ready for the restaurant. The grilled cucumber salad was beyond my expectations. It was loaded with layers of flavors. The same holds true with the lamb that was perfectly prepared and served with a variety of carefully crafted sauces to compliment the dish. The desert I ordered was an Almond cake that was accompanied by rhubarb and hand whipped cream that was light and airy. The combination was delicious. A trip to the restroom was a treat as it is beautifully appointed. For hand drying after washing. I was surprised to find cloth hand towels. This was yet another unexpected experience. Don and Peter have come up with a fantastic combination of simplicity and elegance. Make sure to put this fine restaurant you culinary bucket list. You won't be disappointed. Perry

Kaci did an incredible job! She is clearly well educated when it comes to the menu. Food was outstanding and full of flavor. They also have a great wine list! As someone who enjoys supporting and encouraging local businesses I am glad I got to check them out and that they exceeded expectations. Don’t go in expecting Izzy Buffet style portions, go in expecting a quality, good for you, full flavor, local, sustainable and perfect portioned meal. Great job! :)

Lovely restaurant in downtown Camas. We were headed elsewhere and stopped to glance at the menu. The owner came outside and charmed me with the promise of "Dutch babies" Dutch babies came with carmelized pears and were the best I've ever had. Nearly every menu item is made from scratch. From homemade ketchup and creative in-house dressing to delightful desserts. Most items are locally sourced. We will be back Sunday evening for the famous prime rib dinner!

Love this place. One test of a great restaurant is what they do to a pork chop. Sheer perfection. Everything is innovative or a classic at least one notch above everywhere I dine in Seattle. The lemon curd/meringue dessert is a piece of heaven. Service is excellent. Worth every penny and more.
