Hot San Diego Restaurant Openings You May Have Missed, July 2025 | Eater San Diego

"Carmel Valley — Hey Tea , the trendy tea chain that originated as a tiny tea shop tucked away in an alley in Guangdong Province, China, opened its first San Diego location in Del Mar Highlands Town Center in Carmel Valley on July 25. Known as the creator of cheese tea — beverages with a layer of slightly salty cheese foam — the tea chain is also popular for its fruit tea blends. The popular Crisp Grape Boom is a green jasmine tea slushie with grape-flavored jelly and hand-peeled grapes. The Coconut Mango Boom gets made with coconut milk, fresh mango, and cooked with sago for 30 minutes. Founder Neo Nie, then 19 years old, began creating drinks with cheese foam topping and fruit blends in 2012." - Helen I. Hwang

The Spots Of The Summer, LA Edition - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The most refreshing splurge on Rodeo Drive isn’t a cryo-facial—it’s a fruit tea from Heytea. This flashy Chinese boba chain does colorful drinks with grapes floating like Orbeez, swirls of mango chunks, or sweet-salty cheese foam. Waits can get long, but accessorizing with a cup is a summer flex that costs way less than a Hermès bag." - brant cox, cathy park, sylvio martins, jess basser sanders

Google
Mango Coconut Blue: 4.5/5 Very not sweet and tastes like a more drink-ified Vietnamese che. It’s very refreshing and balanced. I love all the textures and they work together well. Compared to a more traditional boba shop, this drink tastes and feels very intentional, a cultural shift I see with boba and tea shops happening. Ambiance: Cool and casual. Enjoy the vibe, the smells, the drink, and get out because it’s small. Service: Fast but they have a lot of volume of drinks. Be kind to them, they’re going through it. Parking: Big plaza but not a lot of parking. Be brave because the other people will actively try to hit you.

Google
The store smells soo good! I love the white tea scent. The app is always useful to order ahead and is very nicely designed. Drinks are delicious and the tea is pretty premium, BUT my only gripe for this location is that they are super stingy on the amount of boba given. Why am I paying one whole dollar for such a small amount? I’ve been to Heytea in Singapore, NYC, Boston, and Irvine, and Singapore and NYC are by far the most generous with their boba, which is how it should be. Staff is very friendly though. I love that they are still open after dinner, compared to other places in SD. Highly recommend their different grape and matcha drinks! Their seasonal cloud magnolia latte was great!

Google
It’s pretty amazing to see the No.1 Chinese Milk Tea brand right now in San Diego! I’ve had a grape drink one time in China, it was very delicious. This time, I tried 3 flavors, a light ice classic supreme matcha, a hot jasmine cheese tea and an iced mango coconut drink. All these are yummy! I can tell their ingredients are very fresh. You might expect long line since it’s just opened, but I believe it will be better. Their matcha series is always recommended and you should also try the mango one if you like mango.

Google
tried Crisp Grape Boom, Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo, Triple Supreme Matcha Latte, Mango grapefruit boom. I love the grape, fresh and taste good. Mango also great. The matcha i prefer another store. the brown sugar bobo, it filled stomach like having a big meal. requested less sugar. my rating: 1. grape 2. coconut mango 3. mulberry strawberry / yumberry 4. mango grapefruit 5. supreme matcha 6. brown sugar boba

Google
Tried Heytea for the first time and it was such a pleasant surprise. The drinks are refreshing with just the right level of sweetness, never overwhelming. The store is very clean, the service is quick, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. You can really feel the quality and attention to detail. Highly recommend for anyone who loves milk tea.

Google
We recently visited Heytea and had an amazing experience! My husband and I ordered the Supreme Matcha and Coconut Mango Cloud, and both drinks exceeded our expectations. The quality of the tea was excellent, and the flavors were spot on. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Google
We had a wonderful experience trying HEYTEA for the first time! The team was so kind and accommodating, making it a pleasant experience. The drinks are the perfect sweetness, very high quality, and you can tell that they take pride in the quality and precision of their drinks. We can’t wait to come again soon!

Google
I loved my visit to this milk tea shop. The Jasmine Latte was incredibly fragrant—smooth, floral, and not overly sweet. The Brown Sugar Milk Tea had a deep, toasty flavor with just the right hint of caramel. You can really taste the quality of the tea. I’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
I stopped by at HeyTea on a whim and left with a new go-to boba spot. I ordered the Triple Matcha and it's easily one of the best matcha drinks I've had in San Diego. It's rich, creamy, and layered perfectly so you can actually taste the depth of the matcha rather than just sugar. I could honestly drink this every day. The staff was super friendly and patient while I took forever deciding between their creative drinks (everything on the menu sounds tempting). The space itself is sleek and calming with that soft, minimal aesthetic that makes you want to linger a bit longer. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Came here with a friend and I saw that they were promoting a Wicked themed drink, which I was really intrigued about. Unsolicited advice, but I feel like their promo signage should have indicated what was in the drink because the store was barely open, and the workers were SWAMPED with another promo that was taking place that day. I can tell the customer service would have been good, had they not been so overwhelmed, but they were definitely operating under a just be efficient kind of service, which is fine. The Wicked matcha: A pink pomelo aroma cloud is naturally tinted with dragon fruit, no artificial color is used. 1000+ mesh matcha is blended with pomelo aroma juice. Black specks in the cloud are dragon fruit seeds This description was taken from their site, and I may be wrong, but I don't recall any dragon fruit seeds in my drink. Not that I minded either way. Overall, the drink was good, but nothing spectacular.

Yelp
We decided to stop by here instead of omomo since we were in the area. We got the coconut mango blue and the crisp grape boom. I'd say they're probably not known for their fruit drinks as it was kind of mid. I got 50% less sweetness for the coconut mango blue and it was kind of left bland. Next time I would probably try their matcha, but knowing omomo is just around the corner it would be hard to come back to heytea. The store had an aromatic tea scent that hit you as soon as you entered. The worker was helpful too in giving us more information about the drinks.

Yelp
I've been to Heytea several times, but haven't wrote a review since the first time I think. Overall, I enjoy their drink options as they differ from the other spots. What I think they can improve on is the area for pick up online orders. It's confusing because the sign is under the register, but most people come up from the left side of the sign. So maybe separating the in person ordering and pickup area/line would be best. Especially during busy times! Other than that, I think they are great at making the drinks in a timely manner especially during a rush! I love that they also accept cash payment. I feel Heytea is best for their $6.99, Coconut Mango Boom! (It's lactose free btw). It has fresh blended mango with sago and coconut milk jelly. It is refreshing when it's cold and is a great drink to get and put into the fridge. As nothing in it gets overly hard-- unlike your regular tapioca boba that is only good when it's warm/not in the fridge. & I did get the chance to try their Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Boba. I saw it on the counter and it looked so delicious so I ordered one for myself! I have tried only one other drink besides these two, it was good but not for me. It was the Mulberry Cloud Boom I think. I usually get less sugar or minimal sugar!

Yelp
Solid new boba shop that gets busy on weekends, strongly recommend leveraging their app to order ahead! Their milk teas are alright and we've heard better things about their fruit teas. They also have alternative sugar options (sugar free sweetener) that might be preferable to some but we prefer real cane sugar. This shop mostly focuses on tea and every drink we've had was good didn't feel particularly unique or special. They do offer "boba" but it's not their forte and it's just alright. Overall, we'd prefer a boba shop that has solid milk teas AND boba toppings but our friends love HeyTea so we end up coming a lot just for the tea

Yelp
We recently visited Heytea and had an amazing experience! I ordered the Kale Boost Tea and Mango Cloud. Both drinks were very flavorful, but the Mango exceeded our expectations. The quality of the tea was excellent, and the flavors were spot on. The staff were friendly and attentive. It's popular and always busy, so be prepared to wait. It's worth it though. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Ever since I tried Hey Tea for the first time, I've been hooked- I've already gone back 3-4 times in just 2 weeks because it's that good! So far, I've tried the Mango. Grapefruit Boom, Matcha Cloud Jasmine, Kale Boost Tea, Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk Tea, and the Cloud Coconut Blue - and honestly, every single one has been a hit. Each drink is bursting with flavor and perfectly refreshing, with a combination of different toppings depending on the drink that you get. Whether you're running errands, treating yourself after dinner, or unwinding after a long day at work, this place is the perfect spot for a drink/boba. The lines can be very long depending on the time/day you go as it is located in the Del Mar Highlands Town center, which is usually pretty crowded. The drinks do not take that long to come out, and they also have a pick up order option if you don't want to wait in line to order and for them to make your drink.

Yelp
Delicious drinks. It's not crazy sweet so I can taste the tea. I love the tea creations that set them apart from other boba places near here :)

Yelp
It looks like we have a NorCal vs SoCal bubble tea shop battle brewing at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Heytea has opened in a suite just down the slope from an uber popular competitor that migrated south from Orange County a little over two years ago. This Del Mar location is the first one that has opened with another Heytea shop set to debut by the end of this year at the Westfield UTC Mall. From what I heard through a relative, this chain is quite popular up in the Bay Area. Based on the soft opening weekend a couple of months ago, what I saw was an unbelievably long line to cash in on their BOGO free drink promotion. The wait was at least two hours so I turned around and headed home because it was not worth the time. I returned on a weekday afternoon a few days later, and there was still a queue of about a dozen people when I arrived. The inside was small with no seating. The menu screen was only available at the service counter in front of the register. I think many customers ordered online to save time and to be able to view the selections more easily. Fruit teas made up over half of the choices which included categories like Matcha, Superfood Boost Tea, Tea Latte, and Bobo Milk Tea. The terms Boom and Cloud were used extensively. They referred to the slushy fruit base and cheese foam, respectively. Not being a fan of foam in my drinks, I chose the Mulberry Strawberry Boom and the Green Grape Boom for my order. About ten minutes later, the two cups were placed inside a takeout bag with a cardboard tray on the bottom as a holder. I found the flavors of both choices to be quite intense which was good. What was less impressive was how the tea flavor was overwhelmed by the fruitiness. If you are more of a tea purist, then maybe go with one of the jasmine tea varieties. There was only one cup size which I believe was 24 oz. The prices of the fruit teas were expensive as nearly all of them cost either $7.49 or $7.99. Add boba for $0.99, tax, and gratuity and the total for one drink was over $11. The staff was pretty proficient at assembling the drinks despite the high volume of business. My initial experience at Heytea was between a three and four star level.

Yelp
Heytea is a great spot for fruit based drinks that taste relatively natural, but I wouldn't wait in one of their infamous lines. On the average day, there's basically no line but the drinks are definitely made to order so you do have to wait for that (reasonable time). They do have online ordering now (which turns off sometimes, rightfully so). Parking here is super easy in the massive lot.

Yelp
Solid 4. Its like apple store of boba. Trendy and cool gadgets they use to make boba. It can be a long wait but u can order online but they are super efficient. Its kinda koo to see how efficient they are. Now lets talk about flavor. Its good. More of top tier list of boba shops. U can taste that quality is there but I still think its not worth the wait for long line. Just come here on slow hrs. I like to come at late night

Yelp
I absolutely love Heytea! They have a wide variety of drinks and endless customization options, so there's always something you'll find that you enjoy. My favorite drink is the triple matcha supreme! I've brought all my friends here and they also love it too. The aroma in the store is a strong pleasant jasmine scent that heightens your senses. I hope they open up more stores in San Diego!

Yelp
Always busy and crazy, good for HeyTea's business. But my drinks are never ready on time and on the pricier side here. The workers are always slammed and saying sorry it's taking so long. Parking is free at Del Mar but I often have to park much further away and walk since the spots are always full or people are double parked by the curb. The black tea latte is my favorite along with the kale boost tea. The tea is the black tea latte is a red tea and you have to add in boba "bobo" but they give you a tiny scoop as a topping when you add it in your drink sadly. Wish it didn't always take forever to get my drinks here because I like Hey Tea but the Del Mar location needs a better flow or something. Went recently for a Wicked Matcha, the special seasonal drink with dragonfruit and pomelo with matcha and it was gross for me, the matcha was way too floral and I couldn't taste the other flavors. On top of that it was $8.

Yelp
HEYTEA @ DEL MAR Parking is free in their lot, and the shop is tucked inside a large plaza. It's definitely a place where you could spend the day since there are plenty of food spots, stores, and places to wander. My boyfriend brought me here after hearing it was a new competitor to OMOMO, another incredible boba spot located in the same plaza. I was excited to try it, especially after reading so many positive reviews. Walking in, though, I immediately noticed the space looked almost identical to OMOMO! It was clean, beige interiors, but no seating, just a trash can in the corner. There was also no greeting or acknowledgment from staff, and no visible menu. Customers had to wait in line and look at the menu only when they got to the cashier, which slowed the process down. When it was finally our turn, I asked the cashier for a recommendation. He suggested the Mango Coconut Drink, saying it was popular. Since I usually prefer fruit teas, I pointed out a tea option I saw on the menu, but he immediately said it wasn't available. Confusing, since it was clearly listed. I went with the mango drink anyway. The menu here is very different from a traditional boba shop, don't expect classics like black milk tea or mango green tea. Instead, the drinks lean more toward colorful, dessert-like creations that are beautiful but pricey. My boyfriend ordered the matcha drink, and we were surprised to see boba was an extra $0.99. I've always paid around $0.50, so the upcharge felt steep. For two drinks, we spent about $17. The drinks themselves were disappointing. My mango drink was more like a sugary dessert in a cup, heavy on jellies and toppings, but not refreshing like a typical fruit tea. My boyfriend's matcha drink was very thick, closer to a smoothie, and the flavor was overwhelmingly strong, likely because the matcha powder wasn't whisked properly. Overall, I wouldn't come back. This doesn't feel like a true boba spot. it's expensive, the drinks are more like desserts than tea, and the service lacked warmth or helpfulness. Even small things, like offering samples, highlighting popular drinks with a flavor description, or providing physical menus, would've made the experience better.

Yelp
My brother works at a Heytea location in the Bay Area so I wanted to give this spot a try after getting his recommendations! As one of the better matcha/boba shops on this side of town, I thought their drinks were good but it's probably a spot where I'd order ahead for pickup. When I entered the boba shop, I immediately thought it smelled so good! There isn't any seating inside but there are plenty of tables and chairs outside, so you can wait for your drinks while standing in the shop or sitting outside. Something to keep in mind is that if you order your drink for pickup on the Heytea app, you can see your estimated wait time. During my visit, I tried the supreme matcha latte and the cloud magnolia latte. I liked the velvety texture of their matcha, but wasn't the biggest fan of the matcha jelly. Would order again just without matcha jelly! As for the cloud magnolia latte, I probably would not order this again. I didn't think the flavors meshed well together so I did not really enjoy this one. However, I will be back to this Heytea since I would like to try any of the fruit boom drinks!

Yelp
Heytea is definitely giving OMOMO a run for their money in this Del Mar shopping center. We arrived 15 minutes after opening, and there were already about 20 online orders ready to go. These guys are trained well and super quick. As a self proclaimed matcha enthusiast, this is definitely some of the best you can get in SD. The matcha was deliciously smooth and the oat milk was probably the best i've ever had - it tasted so fresh. The boba was cooked nicely however I prefer OMOMO boba. The store itself is tiny and not meant for loitering. Definitely order your drink and opt for the outside seating.

Yelp
Ever since I went to the Rowland Heights location and the Milpitas location, I kept dreaming about this tea shop. So when I realized it was now in Del Mar, I was oh so happy. Let's just say that crisp green drink is excellent and oh so refreshing. I also love love the mulberry and mulberry & strawberry drink. Don't ask me which one I've gotten because you know what, they are all so good and refreshing. Btw, all I've done is order online because there's no way that I am about to stand in line and wait for a long time for it. Though I've gone to the Del Mar location during off hours and got my drink in like five minutes. The staff is friendly when they give me my drink and they are quite efficient. The decor is simple and there's a fruity or floral scent when you enter. It's also pretty bright in there. But anyhow, the drinks are awesome and I think I'll slowly work through the menu and try to order one drink a week. If I say a day, that's just too much sugar. Though I appreciate that you can adjust the sugar level, ice level and if you want caffeinated tea or not. It might just be for certain drinks. Would definitely come back again and again and again.

Adeline S.

Yelp
The drinks are super refreshing, especially for summer! I've gotten the grape drinks and I really like those as well as the mulberry! I wish they used in season fruits as the mulberry was sooo sour haha! I felt healthy drinking these drinks since there was real actual fruit in it haha also wished that the drinks were much colder than what they are, but totally get that more ice meant a diluted flavor. Def want to come back and try their matcha drinks! Service is so quick, despite the long lines, I was never really kept waiting long and the ambiance is def pick up and go! I loved HEYTEA in Asia, so here's to hoping they bring back all those fun flavors that I remember! Maybe some day they'll also have cool store fronts that they're known for with seating!

Yelp
REFRESHING (4 stars) Hot sticky August heat calls for a refreshing drink. 1) expect a line 2) no you do not have to to order thru the app although the QR code posted all over the store prompts to the signup of the app immediately 3) expect about 15m wait for your drink CRISP GRAPE BLOOM ($7.49) - fresh grapes, gently crushed to release their juices, are paired with jasmine green tea base. I love grapes and grape flavor and ordered it because it looked popular. The grape flavor is light, reminds me of pealed frozen grapes. There were some cut pieces of grapes in the drink and some were more tart than others. I drank this so fast and felt it should come in large cups. With the help of the boba straw without having any boba this was more of a gulping drink than a sipping drink. Tea strength wasn't bad, I was able to sleep just fine in the evening and had this drink in the early afternoon. RECOMMEND Looking forward to trying many other drinks in the menu. Until the next gulp...

Yelp
Heytea! This Chinese based tea shop opened in Del Mar about a month ago and every time I pass by, there's a line out the door...hey it's that popular! I learned about this brand when I received an invite to the shop they opened on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but wasn't able to go. This shop is on the ground level and is easy access with plenty of free parking on the lot. This tea shop uses high quality ingredients to make tea drinks and they've popularized innovative tea creations like the cheese tea, which I haven't tried. I hate waiting in line for anything, so when I saw the option to order on their app and pick up when it's ready, I did that and didn't wait too long before my drinks were ready and even got a discount for doing that. The shop was clean and you can smell the tea scent in the air, very fragrant. There were lots of staffers behind the counter with specific duties and they seemed to fulfill orders within a reasonable timely manner. The female staffer who called my order was pleasant, helpful and diligently packed my drinks in nice togo bags. Sat outside the Adirondacks chairs and sipped each drink to savor individual differences. I liked both the mango and the matcha drinks, but preferred the later matcha with less contents. The mango grapefruit boom had too much boba, jelly and pulp to sip through the straw because it would get stuck. I sipped that while I had a spa mani pedi nearby and I felt too full to eat anything, so it's like a meal replacement smoothie. While it was filling, I was super thirsty afterwards and just wanted H20 :( I enjoyed the matcha bobo coconut for the stronger taste of the matcha was nice after the first sip, it didn't have too much content and made easier to sip through the straw. The menu had interesting other selections which I'm curious and interested in trying in the near future. But Hey, this tea shop had me the first sip, Heytea!! Recommend

Yelp
This is one of the newer Boba shops that opened up in the Del Mar, Highlands Sky Deck area. I ordered the Kale Boost Tea and my daughter got the Mango Grapefruit Boom. My drink was supposed to be less sweet, but it was too sweet for me. I expected something healthier, but it was too sugary for my taste. I barely tasted kale. Supposedly there were fresh kale juice, but I didn't taste it. My daughter had actually ordered the Grapefruit Boom but the guy who took our order put down Mango Grapefruit Boom. The receipt was with me so we didn't realize that it was the wrong drink until we circled back 25 minutes later to pick it up. That's how long it took for them to prepare our drinks. She didn't care for her drink either since she's not a mango fan. This is one of the places where I check of "been there tried it" but would not want to come back. Aside from the drinks being too sweet, I thought they were rather small in comparison to other boba shops. Smaller in size and higher in price. Definitely not worth it!....
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here twice and really enjoyed the wicked matcha. I liked the floral jasmine tea and matcha and the hint of citrus from the pomelo essence and dragon fruit foam. Plus it's so pretty! Their supreme matcha latte is ok and not worth the price.
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
Yummy drinks. My favorare triple supreme matcha, cloud matcha, and mango coconut boom. I have only had Heytea in China where this company was founded, and this tastes similar to what I experienced there. There is a drink on the China menu that doesn't appear to be available here: fire quenching slimming bottle (去火*纤体瓶). I hope they add to their USA menu soon. Employees are friendly, service is fast, parking is plentiful. No indoor seating but there are some spaces outside.
google avatar

Simon S.

Yelp
Heytea has become my go to spot for matcha. I usually order the Supreme Matcha Latte, which is smooth, balanced, and not too sweet, perfect if you prefer drinks that highlight the flavor of the tea itself. Their matcha jelly is a standout topping and adds great texture without being overpowering. I tried the Triple Supreme Matcha with mochi, but the mochi texture was not really to my liking, it was too soft with no bite/chewiness to it. Ordering online is super convenient too, their pickup times are accurate and reliable which makes the whole experience even better. I've been using the app for my orders. Parking can be a bit annoying in this plaza, but they do have a parking garage which helps. The shop itself is more of a grab and go spot, since there really is not a space for customers to hang out inside. They also use a strong perfume indoors, which makes it difficult for me to stay inside for long.
google avatar

Ethan P.

Yelp
Great spot! First time trying Heytea and was surprised with the welcoming tea smell the moment you walk in! Service here was fast and the decor here was minimal but aesthetic. My only wish is that it was bigger for a space to study. THIS IS A GRAB AND GO LOCATION. Out of two drinks I got, I definitely would get the Mango grapefruit boom again! Very refreshing and asked for 50% sweet was perfect for me. A great summer drink during the hot days. The matcha supreme was good but I didn't like the pudding texture at the bottom. I think it was too much so the balance from the 3 items were off plus it took a while for it to get cold bc of the jelly I think.
google avatar

Karen P.

Yelp
Beyond excited that they are now in San Diego! First had them back in Singapore and was obsessed. I tried their new Coconut Mango Blue drink and loved their variety of toppings. I love the texture of the coconut jelly pieces and sago. Very refreshing overall. Order through their app to avoid the wait. Can't wait for their UTC location.
google avatar

Yelp
So happy that Heytea finally opened a location in San Diego! It's hard to find a good boba spot here and Heytea is one of my favorites. My go to is the coconut mango boom, and this time I tried the new blue version with blue spirulina. I ordered on the app and the service was quick and drink was great!
google avatar

Kysa T.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly busy. However they get through the line quickly and drinks are ready before you know it. I ordered the triple supreme matcha latte. Very bold but delicious matcha flavor. Though personally, I could've done without the mochi and jelly. I didn't get a good taste of the cloud coconut blue but the colors were beautiful. Overall I would definitely recommend a try here. Service is quick and drinks are of quality. Not much area to hangout inside the shop but plenty of area outside in the plaza.
google avatar

Jake T.

Yelp
It was my first time having HEYTEA and I enjoyed it! I got it two times and I was able to try both of the mango booms, the triple matcha, and the strawberry mulberry drink For the mango booms, I wish they had more mango in the drinks because sometimes the coconut flavor can be a little overpowering. The mango flavor was super good though For the matcha, I thought it was alright. For the mulberry drink, I thought it was pretty good. It was a good amount of sweetness as well. The service was nice. I ordered using the appthe first time and the second time I went in person. I would recommend using the app as opposed to going in person. Parking is also okay to find but it might be a walk going to the store Overall, I would recommend going here!

Yelp
Stopped by Heytea when it was super busy, they had a bogo deal with their new mochi longji tea and I think his name was Randy? the manager, was a huge help. Even with the line out the door, he was extremely nice and patient, and made sure everyone was being taken care of. He answered questions, was doing everything he could checking on customers, helping the staff, and keeping things organized so the line kept moving. It took about 25 minutes to get my drink, it was understandable with how busy it was. He made the wait feel a lot less stressful, and the drink still came out great. Really appreciate his professionalism during the rush! Will definitely be coming back! :)

Yelp
I heard and saw that there was a new boba chain opening up in Del Mar via Instagram, so my friends and I made our way up to their opening weekend with their BOGO free drinks. I've always heard amazing things about this chain but never got to try it. So happy to hear that they have one in the San Diego county now! It's located in between Iceskimo and Pokewan in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center on Rl Camino Real in Del Mar. There's ample free open parking spaces around the area that won't ever be an issue. As it was opening weekend, the lines were LONG. It took us about 45 mins to an hour to get our drink which is a good sign as it shows that they advertised their grand opening really well! My boyfriend and I got their Triple Supreme Matcha Latte with 50% sweetness and their Cloud Mango with 50% sweetness. Wow - both drinks lived up to the expectations! Both drinks did not disappoint at all! There was a nice strong traditional matcha flavor that did not have that artificial sweetness that I dislike. The three matcha toppings (matcha cheese cloud, matcha mochi and matcha jelly) in the latte were really good as well! Definitely really enjoyed the mochi and jelly. The cheese cloud was overshadowed by these two toppings. The mango drink was also very good. I'm a sucker for mango drinks, and this was delicious! I did wish I ordered the Mango Grapefruit Boom instead as the aesthetic of the drink looked a lot better than the regular Cloud Mango LOL. Definitely something I would love to try next time! Overall, a really good shop to stop for boba! Especially for the matcha and fruit teas for those located in North County. They don't have much milk tea varieties but gives a reason to try their fruit teas and matcha! Definitely will be back in the future as my workplace is "relatively" close by.

Yelp
Probably my favorite boba spot in SD! They were doing a promo where you can get a San Diego magnet with purchase! I got their most popular drinks, which were: Cloud crisp Grape Coconut Mango Boom Triple supreme Matcha Latte Surpreme Brown Sugar Boba tea The tea was so good and since I adjusted the sweetness, it was perfect. The staff is friendly and so efficient too. Unfortunately there is no seating inside though. I can't wait to try more flavors when they open a new shop in UTC!

Yelp
This location is almost never busy, which makes it such a nice spot to grab a drink without the wait! The workers here are always super friendly, and the drinks are consistently delicious every time. I especially love all their mango variations -- the Mango Grapefruit Boom, Coconut Mango Boom, and Coconut Mango Blue are all amazing! Definitely one of my favorite Hey Tea locations.

Yelp
Came here opening weekend and I'm impressed by their efficiency! My NorCal friends rave about this place so I'm glad I get to experience it myself and I was not disappointed! We tried their mango grapefruit boom and the kale boost tea. Both were delicious. The mango grapefruit boom was like a dessert in a cup and reminds me of HK style mango sago desserts. It's very refreshing on a hot day. I got it with no sugar and it was perfect. The Kale boost tea is also a great drink! Very refreshing as well and comes in a cute jar. Can't wait to try their cloud drinks next! Service was friendly, quick and efficient. Parking isn't hard to fine as there is ample parking at that center.

Yelp
Great place! It used to be Happy Lemon, but HeyTea is better. Love it! Usually I order Triple Matcha (so good!) but this time tried seasonal - Wicked Matcha and loved it too :-*

Yelp
The beverages are delicious. My favorite drink of the summer is actually the Kale Boost Tea (not pictured here), and the bobo pops (which are seldom in stock). Honestly, this is my dream tea shop in that there are many caffeine free options (you can remove the tea from nearly any drink), and they "nail" the less sugar. It's perfect for my taste. They use high quality ingredients and the store is clean and the staff is friendly. The only reason for the stat deduction is due to the inconsistency. I know they are a relatively new shop but I've ordered about 8 times already and so far, the app has been down and there's no way to get the points from your in-store purchase into the app. Super disappointing. Also, they give you the option to use a custom sticker on your beverage but so far they have only actually done it twice for me. I'm not sure if it's inattention to detail or some other glitch, but if I go through the steps of selecting it and then it's not there, I guess it's no big deal in the scheme of things but it was something I was looking forward to. Finally, a friend and I went last weekend and they didn't tell us until they finished making the drink that they were out of cloud topping for it. I feel like they should have told us before they made it and gave us a choice to get something different. Hopefully they'll work it all out soon because the drinks are so yummy and the quality is so good, I'll keep coming back for now!

Yelp
Having had Heytea in the Bay Area numerous times, I was pleasantly surprised to find the grand opening for the first San Diego Heytea was happening this weekend. They are running a BOGO deal the first three days of the opening and as expected the line was out the door and down the block. It took 2 hours to reach the cashier from the back of the line! I expect the line to die down in the coming days. I also received a free limited edition San Diego magnet as part of the grand opening. I ordered the Triple Supreme Maatcha Latte ($7.99) which is a seasonal drink, and the Cloud Crisp Grape ($7.99) which is a purple grape drink. Unfortunately, they ran out of ingredients for the Cloud Crisp Grape while I was waiting for my order. I was very disappointed as this is one of their top drinks and my go to order. However, to my surprise, I was offered a free drink, in addition to a replacement drink. I ordered two cloud green grapes for my replacement drink and free drink, meaning I got 3 drinks for $7.99! The cloud green grape was delicious, and had a very similar flavor profile to the crisp grape. Amazing customer service! The store itself is quite small with a tiny standing area and two tables outside. One suggestion would be for the shop to display the order numbers that are ready on a screen as I noticed some customers missed hearing their order from the workers. I will be back!

Yelp
I'll be in so much trouble if I live closer to this place. The place is nice and clean. I went when they first open. I've been eyeing the triple matcha so I got that and the gigantor size mango sago!! My daughter and I finished that triple matcha so fast. The matcha mochi was warm and gooey. It was perfect!! The mango sago has the perfect amount of sugar!! We got both with regular sugar and it was perfect!! Customer service is excellent. Looks like they are ready for a big crowd, . I don't blame them. They are delicious!! Would definitely come back to try more drinks!! We both enjoyed our drinks!

Yelp
We came during opening weekend and waited about two hours in line for the buy one get one and free magnet. This is what happens when a new boba shop opens its doors in SD. The inside is small, but there are plenty of tables outside to enjoy your drink. All the drinks we got were very good. Glad we have another boba option!

Yelp
Did a group order and the app let us know what drinks weren't available. The app was a little cumbersome to use as it didn't accept my credit card and I needed to use Google pay for it to work. I got the kale drink with as little sugar available and it was nice and refreshing. Love that I can order ahead.

Yelp
This place was busy with a long line when I came here. I've heard good things about heytea and was excited to try it for the first time. The line was probably 20 minutes long, so we went ahead and ordered online on the app. On the app, our drinks were 15% off with the welcome coupon code! I ordered the triple matcha drink, and my friends ordered the jasmine tea with sugar feee sweetener and the grapefruit tea with sugar free sweetener. I heard the matcha here is great, so I had to try the triple matcha with less sugar (recommended). The triple matcha (4/5) - I enjoyed the strong matcha flavor of this drink with a balanced level of sweetness. This drink came with matcha jelly, matcha mochi, and matcha cloud toppings. The cloud and mochi components make this drink pretty thick. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the texture change of the jelly the most. The mochi was felt harder to distinguish from the drink as a whole, so I feel like it didn't really make the drink much better. Also, my friends commented how you can taste the powder texture of matcha powder in this drink. I tried sips of the jasmine and grapefruit tea. The grapefruit tea stood out to me, and was a delicious and refreshing combination of sweetness and fresh fruit. I'd happily come back here to order and try more fruit teas. When we went to grab our drinks, the inside was decorated cute, and was perfect for casual and on-the-go drinks. I'd recommend trying this place at least once!

Yelp
HeyTea in Del Mar is a solid spot for creative fruit and tea drinks. I recently tried the Cloud Coconut Blue and Cloud Coconut Aqua and both were refreshing with a nice coconut flavor. Though, the coconut jelly did kind of lack that satisfying textural chew. From past visits, I've liked the Mango Grapefruit Boom, Coconut Mango Boom, Grape Boom, Magnolia Tea, and Wicked Matcha more. The shop is always busy, but ordering ahead makes things much easier. It's in a beautiful plaza with plenty of other places to browse, though seating is limited, so it's more of a grab-and-go stop. Overall, a great addition to San Diego's boba scene and definitely holds its own against Omomo next door.

Yelp
Heytea is a newer tea shop selling various drink options for those who like matcha teas, boba style drinks, and all those drinks that are similar. Pros: the location is in the heart of a Del Mar shopping center/ plaza and the front of the store has a nice little water fountain and plenty of outdoor seating. Price is average for tea shops, ranging above $7+ per drink. Parking is abundant on slow days. This plaza they're located in can get busy but you'll be able to find a spot fairly close and quickly. Note that there is no bathroom on site. Cons: there are no physical menus or QR code menus. This can be difficult for those older folks who don't use online menus prior to arriving. The screens on the back wall only show 1-2 of their most popular drinks with no menu until you reach the cash register. If you're looking to be spontaneous and order what speaks to you on the menu, you will have an awkward experience with the cashier trying to decide what to order while they stare you down. I ordered the triple matcha supreme latte and my girlfriend ordered the mango coconut bloom. The taste was too sweet, it had a unique consistency where it felt like you were drinking half cooked egg which was unappealing to me. Almost like eating a matcha flavored egg drop soup. My girlfriend's drink had the same consistency. We could not finish it due to the weird texture. Not our cup of tea. Service was not very welcoming and answered our question unenthusiastically. Verdict: I'm personally not a fan of their drinks. Might be worth a try to those who want to try something different but there are far better tea shops nearby this location that I'd rather go to. I usually finish my drinks but I was not interested in finishing this one and threw it out.

Yelp
The hype is real. At least for now. People are waiting over an hour in the heat to try their luck with Heytea. I'm smart and bought someone else's drink to skip the line lol. The place is cool and doesn't look anything like the old Happy Lemon. Their drinks are good but nothing really unique if you ask me. With so many other boba spots throughout San Diego, I'd wait until the hype dies down to come back again.

Yelp
The menu doesn't tell you what's in each drink so you either hold up the line asking staff or take a gamble with what you order. I'm not a fan of their fruit tea drinks like the Yumberry Cloud, but their milk teas are good! I especially like the Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk (Original) and the Mango Coconut Boom (ask for no sugar added).

Yelp
Heytea is finally in San Diego! I tried the bogo for the magnolia latte and it was really refreshing and a nice twist with the matcha cream too. I also hear great things about the mango coconut boom and tried some of my friend's drink and it was so refreshing. If you like mango and sago then you'll love it. Line can be long depending on the day and especially when there's a bogo deal. But the staff was super friendly & nice! Definitely recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Stopped by this boba shop and got the Mango Grapefruit Boom. Definitely refreshing on a hot day! You can tell this place is popular because the employees were constantly pumping out drinks. The menu has tons of options, so there's definitely something for everyone. Bit pricey though. There aren't any tables or seating inside, but there's plenty of space outside along with a nice play area for kids. Overall, great vibes and tasty drinks. I'd definitely come back to try more!

Yelp
I stopped by on a Thursday around 1PM. This location is fairly new and the lines have been quite long. Today there was about 15 people in front of me, but HeyTea does have an app where you can order ahead for pickup. I ordered while in line and the wait was minimal. The staff moves so fast but the quality of the drinks were still good! The price is comparable to other boba shops. Bonus: This location has so many restaurants and shops to visit for both adults and children. There's even a luxury cinema nearby!
