The Spots Of The Summer, LA Edition - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The most refreshing splurge on Rodeo Drive isn’t a cryo-facial—it’s a fruit tea from Heytea. This flashy Chinese boba chain does colorful drinks with grapes floating like Orbeez, swirls of mango chunks, or sweet-salty cheese foam. Waits can get long, but accessorizing with a cup is a summer flex that costs way less than a Hermès bag." - brant cox, cathy park, sylvio martins, jess basser sanders

Good simple made tea. You can taste the tea and other ingredients. Staff is friendly and order came out at a good pace. Going to come again.

Google
The staff were friendly and the store was clean and stylish — great for a quick break or catching up with friends. You can tell they really care about quality, from the ingredients to the packaging. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something refreshing and high quality. Will definitely be coming back to try more!

Google
Really excited this place is open, super yummy drinks and can't wait to try what they have to offer! My only criticism is that it would be good if online ordering is closed for the first 15-30 minutes from when they open because I lined up before they opened and it felt pretty bad to see them prioritize online orders over people who had been physically waiting in line prior to opening.

LoveSisley Co

Google
The good thing is they have an app for ordering in advance, though I’ve had times when it was down. I finally managed to place an order today—just wish the cup size were a bit bigger.

Google
We had a wonderful experience trying HEYTEA for the first time! The team was so kind and accommodating, making it a pleasant experience. The drinks are the perfect sweetness, very high quality, and you can tell that they take pride in the quality and precision of their drinks. We can’t wait to come again soon!

It’s pretty amazing to see the No.1 Chinese Milk Tea brand right now in San Diego! I’ve had a grape drink one time in China, it was very delicious. This time, I tried 3 flavors, a light ice classic supreme matcha, a hot jasmine cheese tea and an iced mango coconut drink. All these are yummy! I can tell their ingredients are very fresh. You might expect long line since it’s just opened, but I believe it will be better. Their matcha series is always recommended and you should also try the mango one if you like mango.

Once you order they fill the order pretty fast. Drink looks nice

Yelp
The hype is real. At least for now. People are waiting over an hour in the heat to try their luck with Heytea. I'm smart and bought someone else's drink to skip the line lol. The place is cool and doesn't look anything like the old Happy Lemon. Their drinks are good but nothing really unique if you ask me. With so many other boba spots throughout San Diego, I'd wait until the hype dies down to come back again.

Yelp
This place was busy with a long line when I came here. I've heard good things about heytea and was excited to try it for the first time. The line was probably 20 minutes long, so we went ahead and ordered online on the app. On the app, our drinks were 15% off with the welcome coupon code! I ordered the triple matcha drink, and my friends ordered the jasmine tea with sugar feee sweetener and the grapefruit tea with sugar free sweetener. I heard the matcha here is great, so I had to try the triple matcha with less sugar (recommended). The triple matcha (4/5) - I enjoyed the strong matcha flavor of this drink with a balanced level of sweetness. This drink came with matcha jelly, matcha mochi, and matcha cloud toppings. The cloud and mochi components make this drink pretty thick. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the texture change of the jelly the most. The mochi was felt harder to distinguish from the drink as a whole, so I feel like it didn't really make the drink much better. Also, my friends commented how you can taste the powder texture of matcha powder in this drink. I tried sips of the jasmine and grapefruit tea. The grapefruit tea stood out to me, and was a delicious and refreshing combination of sweetness and fresh fruit. I'd happily come back here to order and try more fruit teas. When we went to grab our drinks, the inside was decorated cute, and was perfect for casual and on-the-go drinks. I'd recommend trying this place at least once!

Yelp
we got the coconut blue matcha drink, mango coconut drink, and jasmine matcha drink. overall, the quality of the drinks are very good! i was impressed by how yummy the drinks were and they weren't that sweet! 3cat has similar drinks but they are much sweeter in comparison. i would definitely come back if i was in the area. i'd say its more for a dessert and not really for a tea craving. the jasmine flavor wasn't that strong in my drink we ordered on the app because we feared there would be a long line. when we picked up, the wait didn't look too bad!

Yelp
Probably my favorite boba spot in SD! They were doing a promo where you can get a San Diego magnet with purchase! I got their most popular drinks, which were: Cloud crisp Grape Coconut Mango Boom Triple supreme Matcha Latte Surpreme Brown Sugar Boba tea The tea was so good and since I adjusted the sweetness, it was perfect. The staff is friendly and so efficient too. Unfortunately there is no seating inside though. I can't wait to try more flavors when they open a new shop in UTC!

Yelp
Came here opening weekend and I'm impressed by their efficiency! My NorCal friends rave about this place so I'm glad I get to experience it myself and I was not disappointed! We tried their mango grapefruit boom and the kale boost tea. Both were delicious. The mango grapefruit boom was like a dessert in a cup and reminds me of HK style mango sago desserts. It's very refreshing on a hot day. I got it with no sugar and it was perfect. The Kale boost tea is also a great drink! Very refreshing as well and comes in a cute jar. Can't wait to try their cloud drinks next! Service was friendly, quick and efficient. Parking isn't hard to fine as there is ample parking at that center.

Yelp
Having had Heytea in the Bay Area numerous times, I was pleasantly surprised to find the grand opening for the first San Diego Heytea was happening this weekend. They are running a BOGO deal the first three days of the opening and as expected the line was out the door and down the block. It took 2 hours to reach the cashier from the back of the line! I expect the line to die down in the coming days. I also received a free limited edition San Diego magnet as part of the grand opening. I ordered the Triple Supreme Maatcha Latte ($7.99) which is a seasonal drink, and the Cloud Crisp Grape ($7.99) which is a purple grape drink. Unfortunately, they ran out of ingredients for the Cloud Crisp Grape while I was waiting for my order. I was very disappointed as this is one of their top drinks and my go to order. However, to my surprise, I was offered a free drink, in addition to a replacement drink. I ordered two cloud green grapes for my replacement drink and free drink, meaning I got 3 drinks for $7.99! The cloud green grape was delicious, and had a very similar flavor profile to the crisp grape. Amazing customer service! The store itself is quite small with a tiny standing area and two tables outside. One suggestion would be for the shop to display the order numbers that are ready on a screen as I noticed some customers missed hearing their order from the workers. I will be back!

Yelp
The drinks are delicious! Nothing would slap harder than their mango grapefruit bloom on a hot sunny day. I got their matcha and much preferred their mango drink. The matcha was good but just a bit heavier and earthier. The service was quick and the staffs were friendly were helpful! Came for the promotion weekend and only took about 30 mins from end of line to having the drinks in my hands. It's such a cute little quaint coffee place. Nice to stand in.

Yelp
I've been to Heytea twice, and the drinks are good but really not for me. If you like fruit drinks, this is the place for you, because they're known for high quality fruit drinks with no artificial flavoring. I generally don't go for fruit drinks so hence why this place is not for me. mango coconut 8/10 -- this is good, and I think my mom would love it because she loves mango drinks! Brown sugar bobo milk tea 8/10 -- I asked for 25% sugar and the sweetness was a good amount of sweetness but still on the sweet side for me. I prefer tea-forward drinks where the tea flavor is strong. This drink is on the lighter side in terms of the tea flavor, and even with the reduced sugar, it's still on the sweeter side. I did enjoy it, but I prefer other boba places, such as Chi Cha San Chen. Matcha Supreme 5/10 -- I asked the staff what's the difference between the Matcha Cloud and the Matcha Supreme and the Triple Matcha. The matcha cloud is a matcha latte with a cheese foam. The Matcha Supreme is a matcha latte with a matcha foam. The Triple matcha is a matcha supreme with additional matcha toppings. I went with the Matcha Supreme less sugar/25% sweet. When I saw the color of someone else's matcha drink, I could already tell that I wasn't going to like it. But I wanted to give it a try anyway, for science! I can now confirm that I did in fact not enjoy it.

Yelp
I ordered the mango/grapefruit and it's like a dessert drink. It has sago, pudding, little flakes of grapefruit and blended chunks of mango. I had it at 70% sweet and it was perfect. If you're looking for a drink to sip I wouldn't choose this because again, it had a lot of elements which was like a cup of dessert. My best friend ordered the matcha cloud and it was good. You cannot go wrong with matcha. Not bad! All in all, the service was great and we want to come back to try more drinks!

Yelp
To my delight, SD's very first HeyTea opened today at Del Mar Highlands Town Center with a 2nd one landing soon at Westfield UTC !! Woooo. Aroma of fresh teas welcome guests to the lovely minimal modern decor of HeyTea. Service was super good as well. My fav was Triple Supreme Matcha Latte - perfect for anyone who loves pure matcha :)) Matcha Cloud + Matcha Mochi + Matcha Jelly Also tried Mango Grapefruit Boom (lovely fresh fruit flavors) Cloud Yumberry (very unique tart and fruity flavor) Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk Tea (this was standard milk tea flavor) Clip of the Experience below: https://www.instagram.com/urbancell_gastronomy/reel/DMjmdbGOHNv/

Yelp
We went to HeyTea on the first day of opening, and they have a BOGO free deal from today until this Sunday (7/27). We got there at noon, and there was already such a massive line. It was thoughtful that they gave us samples of their tea while we were in line. Reagan was my cashier, and she had such amazing and positive energy. I'm impressed by how cheerful she was even though there were so many customers. I ordered the mango grapefruit boom ($7.99), which was so refreshing. It had a good balance of mango and grapefruit. I also ordered the matcha cloud jasmine latte ($7.49). The matcha really helped to wake me up, and I love the cloud on top. They recommend that you twist the lid, and drink it to get all the flavors in one sip. They plan to have online order pick up, but right now they only take orders in person since they've just opened. They don't have any seating inside, but there are tables with seats outside. I'm glad that HeyTea is now in San Diego, and I highly recommend you to check it out!

Yelp
I came around 5 mins before opening on a weekday and there were a few people waiting outside already. I was among the first 5 people to order after opening and it took a few mins to place my order and another 10 mins to get my drinks. Service was nice and efficient. I ordered a supreme matcha latte at regular sugar (100%) and a triple supreme matcha latte at the recommended sugar of 70%. Both drinks were rich and had a strong matcha taste. I like my drinks to be on the sweeter side so 100% sugar is good for me. I wasn't a fan of the slightly soft and mushy matcha mochi and jelly so I would ask for none next time. Also, it comes by default with dairy milk so I wish they offer milk alternatives. I wouldn't go out of my way for this but would try again when their UTC location opens.
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
My sister got me the triple supreme matcha latte so I can't say how the store or service was, but the viral triple matcha supreme drink was rich and delicious! I got the recommended sugar which was 70%, but personally I like sweeter drinks so I would get it at regular sugar next time. The matcha is pretty strong. Can't wait for the UTC location to open up!

Yelp
We finally have our very own Hey Tea in San Diego!!! Stopped by on their first day around 8:40pm...they close at 9pm but they were able to serve you as long as you were in line before 9pm. I didn't realize they were having a BOGO free promo which was worth it. I've been to multiple Hey Tea locations (Irvine, Singapore, Hong Kong). FYI - a new location is opening in Southcoast Plaza soon. I had the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte with 50% sugar - loved every last sip. I didn't know what was inside but there was a weird texture which I thought was matcha pudding - I heard it's some kind of mochi - it was delicious. My partner had the usual - Mango Grapefruit Boom with 70% sugar - can't go wrong with this one. Our friends had the Yumberry Boom and Brown Sugar Boba - they loved it. The reason I love Hey Tea is because it's natural - none of this powder crap like the other tea shops. Hey Tea is all about natural ingredients and quality. Can't wait to come back for more drinks. PS - the owner/manager was nice. For being their first day, I was amazed how fast the line moved. Yes the line was super long but the employees were fast and efficient. They worked hard all day - they even got pizza at the end of the night. It was a very lively place. Now I gotta toss a coin between Hey Tea or Omomo...but Hey Tea has it all so it's gonna be hard to go elsewhere.

Yelp
I really didn't want to like this place, because I wanted to avoid another addiction but the drink I got was freaking good. I got the Mango Grapefruit and OMG it's worth the addiction. We also grabbed the supreme brown sugar boba and that one I will not be having again. Cute place and super friendly staff, so I will definitely be back, FYI because it's new the lines can get long.

Yelp
It was a grand opening and the line was super long. We spent about 1 hr to get our drink. The service was great through and it was quick to get the drinks made. Inside was not crowded and the tea smell was pleasant. The price was okay. It might be on the high end for milk tea but it's comparable to many places. I recommend the fruit tea drink. I ordered supreme matcha latte which was good but I found it too creamy and less matcha.

Yelp
HEYTEA is one of my favorite drink/boba places. I've been to the Rowland Heights location in the past but I think they recently closed that one so I was so happy to see a location open up here in San Diego! I'm still exploring some of the menu options but I love the Grapefruit Mango Boom and the regular Coconut Mango Boom as well! For matcha I like the Jasmine Matcha Latte, for more tea taste or the Cloud Coconut Blue for more coconut taste. While I wouldn't say the drinks are much more superior than other boba places, I like that they have a variety of drinks that they make very well (boba milk tea, fruity, matcha). AND they have a 0 cal sweetener option which means it won't feel so bad getting a sweet treat after dinner/ late at night! I'll be back once the crowd dies down a bit more.

Yelp
- made it out to the new opening! i've always been a big fan of heytea so im glad they opened up in sd :) - the line was extended pass several stores but the wait didn't feel long at all, it moved pretty quickly - i'm so impressed with the kind staff and their efficiency - our drinks came out so quickly too drinks: loved the new triple matcha - it has matcha mochi, matcha jelly, the matcha latte itself and a match cloud :0 it already comes less sweet which is perfect for letting the matcha shine

Yelp
I stopped by on a Thursday around 1PM. This location is fairly new and the lines have been quite long. Today there was about 15 people in front of me, but HeyTea does have an app where you can order ahead for pickup. I ordered while in line and the wait was minimal. The staff moves so fast but the quality of the drinks were still good! The price is comparable to other boba shops. Bonus: This location has so many restaurants and shops to visit for both adults and children. There's even a luxury cinema nearby!
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
Simple menu, can taste the tea, and friendly staff. Cool grand opening weekend promotion for SD magnet. I enjoyed the cloud jasmine tea and cloud mulberry strawberry. Matcha jelly as good matcha flavor and the sago was cooked nicely. Interior has that sleek modern style boba shop feel.

Yelp
Came on day 3 (Sunday) of grand opening. There was already a line half an hour before opening. Line was organized very well with staff handing out menus and free water/tea while we waited. Most of the line was under shade, which was very nice considering it is currently summer. Line moved at a reasonable speed considering it is grand opening and there being only 1 register. Disregarding the 30 minutes I waited before opening, it took about 45 minutes to order. Took about 10 minutes for my order to come out after ordering. Had some issue due to the BOGO free not applying. Part of it was my bad - I should've checked before paying but they were able to fix that for me after so it was all good. I've had HeyTea once (at the Irvine location) and really enjoyed it. I had the Coconut Mango Boom then which I would highly recommend. Today, I wanted to try a different drink (also there was a BOGO free promo for grand opening) so I decided to get the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte. I also ordered the Matcha Cloud Jasmine Latte for a friend. The triple supreme matcha latte was perfect at less sugar. Light bitter aftertaste but a good option for matcha lovers. It had a matcha jelly at the bottom which had a texture that's kind of like the pudding add-ons at boba shop but firmer. The matcha mochi was very fun to drink - it's not as firm so if you're not into slimy textures, this might not be for you. All in all, I'd recommend trying this place out if you've got some time to wait in line!

Yelp
Super good had to come back a second time! I recommend their mango drinks and matcha 10/10. Still have a little bit of line but service is fast.
google avatar

Andre A.

Yelp
Went for the grand opening and was impressed at how efficient the whole team there was. The line was quite long but the service was great and the ordering process was easy and streamlined. We got the mango grapefruit bloom and the mango coconut bloom. Both were excellent and not too sweet. The textures all worked well with the sago and pieces of fruit. Would definitely come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
I had the Jasmine Latte. I think it's pretty average, but would have been worth it if it wasn't nearly $8 for a smaller cup. Matcha is the attraction for here but their jasmine latte is just meh. Doable. I can enjoy it but I will not go out of my way to get it. It also takes a long time to get the drink but that's to be expected, the line is long and the workers are doing their best and clearly work efficiently.

Wu K.

Yelp
HEYTEA never disappoints! The drinks are super refreshing, with rich tea flavors and just the right level of sweetness. Everything tastes high-quality and thoughtfully made. I was especially excited to try HEYTEA because BLACKPINK's Lisa has had their drinks too -- if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me! Now I totally get the hype -- it's not just a pretty cup, the taste really delivers. Highly recommend for anyone who loves milk tea or fruit tea. Great flavors, great vibe, and definitely worth a try!

TS L.

Yelp
Excited to have this first Hey Tea in San Diego but first impression not great. First day of the grand opening and we are standing in line that has not moved in 30 mins, it feels like they are unprepared or understaffed. The online order was disabled so no short cut there. I wish they will limit how cups each customer can place (like omomo did when they first opened), so the line can move faster. As it is, we'd be lucky if it is a 1.5-2 hour wait. Update-- it was actually 2 hours and 10 mins before we got our drinks. We started lining up in front of lolo boutique. There is no purchase limit but the BOGO offer (July 25-27 is limited to 1 per customer. We ordered the popular mango coconut bloom. Overall very delicious after standing in the sun in queue. There were some lumps of coconut milk. Still have to ding them on behalf of everyone in line, the neighbor businesses who were annoyed with the long lines in front of their store. Where is the Asian efficiency? This is an Asian 2 star rating.
google avatar

Christina V.

Yelp
We checked out HEYTEA's grand opening in Del Mar this past weekend and took advantage of their BOGO deal (went both Saturday and Sunday!). The mango cloud drink was our favorite, thick, tropical, and so refreshing, while the mulberry strawberry cloud was a miss because of the frozen berry texture. Surprisingly, the Kale Boost Tea tasted more like a pineapple kiwi refresher with chia seeds than anything "kale," and the Supreme Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea stole the show with its chewy, fresh boba. The line was long, but the staff, especially Reagan, made the wait feel easy with their kindness and efficiency. Drinks are on the pricier side, but for a treat yourself splurge, HEYTEA in Del Mar is worth it, and I'm already planning my next visit to try more of their milk teas!

dylan m.

Yelp
After having HeyTea multiple times in LA and New York and becoming a loyal fan, I was super excited to find out they were finally opening in San Diego! I ordered the Coconut Mango Boom. I love the combination of the sago, mango slushie, coconut milk, and coconut jelly. It was good overall, but I only have two minor complaints-- the slushie part isn't as icy as I'm used to at other locations and there was just a little too much coconut milk compared to mango. This led to the drink being more liquidy than I'm used to. The location just opened so I'm sure quality will improve over time.
google avatar

Zoe B.

Yelp
Yasssss finally a boba shop in our area! So excited to drive by that will give Omomo so competition! Oh and they have online ordering- hooray! The open at 11 but online ordering doesn't seem to work until noon most days. According to the worker she says it is controlled by headquarters?! I walked up and was happy to see the line moving quickly and tons of staff working to get orders out. This place checks all the boxes!

Kelly Y.

Yelp
I love their cloud crisp bloom! It's so good and they use real grapes as well. Their cheese foam literally my fav!! Would def recommend :)

Zixi L.

Yelp
Love the triple supreme matcha latte! Highly recommend! Staff are very nice too, helped us order in advance!

Yelp
Excited to have heytea in San Diego. Convenient location. Reasonable prices. Ordered triple supreme matcha and mango grapefruit boom. Both taste good!

Wendy K.

Yelp
Drinks were fantastic and customer service was the best! I was pregnant waiting in line and the manager saw me and graciously let me go to the front so I didn't have to stand for a long time. Their staff let me order first and got my drinks right away! I was so pleasantly surprised by their kindness and could not be any happier. Thank you Heytea! I will be back.

Robert L.

Yelp
heytea is so fire like i would sacrifice my first born child if i get a free cloud coconut blue. so excited that they opened a location in del mar and another coming soon in utc. top 2 boba ever
