Excellent service here amazing staff great people very helpful. I recommend with most high regard, which I do not do about a lot of places, but I do not get tested approval. If you need help they will most definitely help you thank you to Chase Megan and Emily from Emily. I finally met and Chase. I shall be a loyal customer to this establishment and they will get future business from me for me, honor integrity is what matters and I have witnessed it from this store it is rare to see customer service to this degree know that Emily and Megan Chaseall need raises to their paycheck ASAP. If I could, I would physically make that a demand as a customer which I know it is not A reality so I hope the employer realizes they’re outstanding performance for I was a courtesy clerk for six years as well And recognizing good customer service when I see it

I love Hi-Lo liquor market which is why I am leaving this review. My partner and I live in the neighborhood and this is our go to market for drinks and snacks. However, this evening we had such an uncomfortable experience that I don't think we will be going back. We were followed around the store by the employee working there to the point we just walked out. Even though I asked him for help finding a pumpkin beer he kept following us around and staring at us like we were known shop lifters in this store. He made us feel extremely unwelcome. All we were doing was looking around because there are so many good selections. I hope this employee learns to do his job properly and does not profile customers in this way because all it accomplished was losing our business.

Took my sister here to check it out and she loved the vibe and bartender. Biked/Roller bladed here for a quick drink and then rolled home.

This shop is remarkable. They have so many cool snacks and the wine and beer selection is top notch! I am in LB only once a year and I always stop in to see what they have. The customer service is really great. Ben helped me out today and he went over and above. There are a lot of hotels around that area - if you are there, take a stroll and go check it out when you have some downtime. It's great to see a well run establishment with people who know what they are doing and they have a really unique selection of everything. It's a great find!

Amazing high end liquor store and tasting bar. My wife and I love to stop and taste the weekly selections when we signed up for email notifications. Jamal and everyone is very knowledgeable and helpful to find what your looking for and experience something new too. You can trust their expertise.

What a great little neighborhood gem. Popped in with my sister to meet my mom and a friend, had a great little wine tasting. The attendant was full of knowledge and fun facts what an enjoyable afternoon. If you're in downtown Long Beach it's lovely, because it's within walking distance.

Went here for a present . It was cute little place with a bar! The only thing is that there was no AC ! It was sooo hot . But it really had a whole lot of different selections. And the prices were bad. The restrooms were nice and clean. We did have a drink. Which was good as well. The server was nice.

We finally made it inside! What a great place to hang out and sip on beer and wine! We happened to come in when they were offering tastings of Wilde Irish Gin. It was very fragrant and smooth with a beautiful purple hue. The representative was knowledgeable and super friendly. We bought a bottle and she threw in a hat. Lucky me! My hubby and siblings were perusing the great selections of whiskey and bourbon. This is a great place to shop when you have a small impromptu gathering and want gourmet snacks. They have chocolate bars, nuts, chips, popcorn, mixers, even a frozen section! We had a little time to kill before our dinner reservation, so we ordered a beer to start off the evening. Cheers to great selections and welcoming staff!

Interesting options for liquor beyond the usual you'd see most places. Love that he lo siento tequila I got.

Unique selection of beers, wines and snacks. There's a small bar area where you can get drinks on tap and try their rotating variety of beverages. We were able to drink and have great conversations with the staff and other customers. Although they have a great selection, they don't have everything available but they do have a variety of craft beers. Great little gem for unique spirits and snacks. You'd never think to sit and chill at a market lol

Thank you to Lauren! She is the best! Called up looking for a very hard to find liquor (Green Chartreuse). Lauren went above and beyond by looking through the store to find the one and only bottle. (It could be the only bottle in Southern California) My wife is going to be so happy thanks to Hi-Lo and especially Lauren!

As we we're expecting miring Long Beach we walked by Hi-Lo and decided we needed to stop in. It's a super cute spot that has wine and beer options and well as other alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. You can purchase items to go or open them here ($4 for beer and $7 for wine corkage). They also have drinks available from a beer and wine list that they serve at the bar. The bartender was friendly and explained everything to us and we ended up grabbing a seat and ordering a drink each. I love trying local beer when I go to new cities, so I enjoyed a "Feels Like Home" Pilsner that was recommended by the bartender from Everywhere. My friend got their Hi-Lo Summer spritz and it was amazing- flavor forward, bright and perfect for summer. Prices where about what I expected $10 for a pint and $15 for the spritz. My friend also got an espresso martini in a can to try later. The seating is limited, but it's a really cute spot for a drink or to pick up drinks to enjoy later.

An extraordinarily well-curated selection - almost everything they have is at least fairly good and they have things nobody else does (eg, Pliny) - and it is a wonderful shopping experience, but prices are astonishingly over market. My go to if I have more money than time to shop, but not a regular stop.

Went for trivia night my boy nicholas gave serious wine recommendations had a great time!!! Highly recommend, trivia was difficult bring a group of smarties!

Needed to kill time and noticed this store had a seating area, so I figured getting some work done here. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking and metered parking. It gets pretty limited so it's moreover for the neighborly residents but still a good Long Beach gem if you're in the area. Seating: Inside seating for about 20 people. counter seating or table seating for pairs. Feels: The area is great! It's right off of Ocean and there are relatively great places a hop, skip, jump away so if you want to rent a scooter, great! The space itself is pretty spacious and bright. You're welcomed with a lot of selections of wine/beer, hot and cold snacks and other nonalcoholic drinks. It's your neighborly liquor store kicked up a notch. Great place to casually chill or hang out with a friend. FOOD: Nora Seaweed Snacks (Recommended) Great tempura flavor and texture. A great umami flavor with a good spicy kick to it. Tost - Ginger & Elderberry flavor (Recommended) Great bite from the sparkle, kick of ginger and sweetness of the elderberry. Subtle, sweet, and kept me alive in the afternoon. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Mia is dope! More than your usual employee. Every time I see her, she's either chatting up good convos with customers or tidying up the spot. As there are a million of items here she really knows her stuff. Super knowledgable and friendly. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Great selections, reasonable prices and a pleasant vibe. I can see myself coming here for a quick refreshment, catching up with a friend, or getting some work done. Stay classy, HiLo. A wine and liquor store with an uber trendy and hip aesthetic. Great selection of natural wines. However, the staff is a bit standoffish and the bottles are significantly marked up. You are better off buying directly from the winemaker or from an online store that carries the same items. The one reason I will probably come here every so often is for the occasional events/tastings. Not all are free but they do bring in some noteworthy wine makers and sought after labels.

Walked in to have a glass of wine and look at some stuff on my computer. Was blocked from sitting down by a gentleman who had been sitting at the bar working on paperwork while his dog lay on a dirty towel with a dish in the aisle. The guy asked my what I wanted and I said I was just tryna ng to figure out if I should sit at the bar or one of the small tables. He flat out looked me in my face and said "they have places you can sit next door at the coffee shop" I said, "well, I was looking for a glass of wine" at which point he blanched and said, "oh, I thought you were one of those people who were going to sit here, use my Internet and not buy anything". Did he think the freshly showered woman in heels and false eyelashes holding a MacBook was unhoused? For whatever reason he was absurdly rude. He then said it would be ok for me to have a glass of wine wh.

The wine bar has some decent selections and the staff were super personable. They also carry beer - Everwhere Brewery is a favorite and hard to find in a wine/beer bar. It's also fun to peruse the food section looking for hidden gems from around the world. Just wish the space was a bit more cozy , less bright. Just a personal preference.

Nobody loves a good charcuterie board than me. Seriously I have to stop at like 15 stores to get everything I need. Not anymore! One stop shop Hi-Lo liquor market is where it's at! Everything you need to make the best charcuterie ! Next thing you know your friends will be saying you're Martha Stewart. Listen gas prices are high I don't have time to be going all the stores. Next party I'm bringing the charcuterie board.

Not sure what's going on but this store is not keeping some of my favorite drinks in stock. They used to have adaptogen drinks an alcohol alternative. Now I have to buy them online. Change of ownership? Maybe... need to get with the program.

Having driven by this shop a number of times I was curious about them. It looks bright and welcoming in the evenings. I see that it is one of a few locations in various nearby cities. We were there early in the day but their website shows interesting events occur later in the day. Food is then also served at various hours. I'd check their site for times. It must be served refectory style at the slim tables, perhaps a reduced area affected by recent restrictions. This seems a perfect hangout and quick stop for the young professionals inhabiting the high rise towers surrounding the market. A specialized Mercado of sorts for snacks and cocktails, for dinner, or snacks and cocktails serving as both. The person working in the store was helpful and polite. I'm annoyed at myself for not asking if they carried the hard to come by, Le Grand Quinquina Aperitif from Swartland*. A reason to return. *Owner immediately answered my question in "Ask the Community" as I was writing this. I'm impressed!

This is a great addition for premium spirits, beer and wine in Long Beach. They also have a small grocery selection that allows you to pick up a few essentials, like cookies, ice cream, and chips... There is also a tasting bar that I hope re-opens following the Covid-19 lockdowns. In the meantime, you can just chance your selections. Well worth a stop by..

I really hate to give this review because the lady who was helping up with our drinks was very nice and helpful she was friendly and attentive. She made sure that we got great service while being in the store might I add this place is a STORE with a counter top bar. But she was amazing ams went out of her way to make our experience great. Where it all went wrong was when my friend came in and he aggressively came out her in the middle of our conversation while she didn't even try to order a drink asking for her ID. While she was willing to give it up, his demeanor and his unprofessionalism was incredibly rude and disrespectful, and made me never want to return back to this place again. Beware of mullet man with a mustache. Then when I said our girl will continue helping us since she was making us a special flight, he gave me attitude and told me I can go drink somewhere else. Therefore, I did not finish my flight. I closed out my tab and I left because that was absolutely horrible experience and rude. I highly suggest that if you ever want to attend this bar, if he's working, do not go or do not let him help you. It's really unfortunate that we did not get to continue our experience as we were having a great time and we were really enjoying our flight as it began but please fully support the brunette. She is amazing and she will make your flights extra special for you as she will help you pick out the best wines and or beers for your selection.

Love Hi-Lo and am so happy they are part of our neighborhood. We stopped in tonight to see what was going on and Ben gave us some tastings of some fun and unusual wines. We chatted it up with Mike, the pilot, and teased the guy who came in for another bottle of wine while his guests waited for his return. Ben stayed calm and attentive throughout. The labels they carry are fun to read and there is always something new to try.

Great wines and liquors that aren't your everyday brands. They also pour wine which makes it east to sit and relax while listening to Mos Def in the background

Alisha helped us for my nieces 21st birthday. Amazing little spot with all the wine you can think of and they even sell glasses all of the extras like the bitters the tonic water the shakers cherries you can sit and have a glass of wine have a flight and enjoy anything from their selection at the bar or after a little seating area. They're open till 9 o'clock 9 AM till 9 PM June weekdays. They also have some light Foods and snacks

Wow! Wow! Wow! I went in here with a very general idea of a cocktail I wanted to make. I was helped out by Sloan and not only were her suggestions ON POINT but she was incredibly knowledgeable about all the products to a very impressive degree. I am not a heavy alcohol drinker but my experience has me itching to go back to try something new! This is all the stuff I bought and my cocktail! (It was a "The Shining" inspired cocktail I came up with called REDRUM) **the OJ was purchased at the grocery store but everything else came from Hi-Lo

Cute liquor store right next to Starbucks. Walked here during my lunch hour with a friend so she can grab some pieces for her charcuterie tray. She grabbed some cheese and wine. I just perused their selection of wine and spirits, looking for one particular sparkling wine--Rosa Regale. It wasn't there, but they did have a good selection of others to choose from. They had a Makers Mark special that came with a wine glass with purchase. On the same display counter, there were also recipe cards so you can concoct your own drink at home. The wall shelf included jiggers, wine glasses, decanters, long stir spoons. Fancy... Will have to return post pandemic to try out this sit-down tasting area.

We drink wine and we know what we like. When it comes to purchasing wine, we are more Trader Joe's than Total Wine. We came to check out this fancy liquor store after receiving a generous HI LO gift card. Parking was a bit challenging on Thursday afternoon when we visited. The brightly-lit, clean inside felt welcoming. The curated selection of wines (besides liquor and beers) was nicely displayed on shelves. Looking for a specific type of wine, however, took some getting used to; so many unique, unfamiliar labels, all on the high-end pricey side. We asked Sven the bartender(not exactly a sommelier but probably well-acquainted with all forms of alcohol sold here) for his recommendations, after telling him our preferences. He was quite knowledgeable and helpful, explaining his suggestions well. With his guidance, we were able to pick several bottles of cab, including a 2017 Chroma, a couple of Pinot Noirs, including an interestingly named a vegan dry Obvious Wines No.03 Light & Lively, and a Château Grand Boise Cotes de Provence Sainte-Victorie Rose, intended as gifts for special occasions and for our own enjoyment. We can't wait to taste them. We imagine this beautiful store's setting would be ideal especially for big-budgeted, adventurous connoisseurs of wines, beer and liquor with deep discerning appreciation of the nuances of what they imbibe.

This is a really neat spot that just opened about a month ago. It's actually several different things, that are all great. First off, there's the standard liquor store aspect - they don't have a huge selection, so if you're coming in expecting a Total Wine... don't. They've got a seriously "curated" selection of maybe a dozen or two selections of each of the main types of spirits, a few dozen wines, and a few dozen beers. Prices seem generally *slightly* higher than Total Wine, as well (but totally within reasonable fluctuation of each other, so I don't fault them that). But what a curated place like this gets you is, they personally recommend everything in the store, and someone *in* the store probably knows a bit about all of them, so they could help recommend things, and that's useful sometimes. They've always got super friendly people there. Plus, a curated selection of snacks - including one of my favorite fancy potato chips, in "truffle" and "Iberico ham" flavors! Secondly, there's a little tasting bar, with about a dozen or so wines and the same for beer. Their wines for tasting, in my opinion, are a little pricey, but the beers are mostly very reasonably priced (and they do tasters as well as full pours), and I've tried a couple super cool obscure beers there. In addition to the wines and the beers on draft, you can also buy any beer or wine in the store, and drink it in the bar at no additional cost. So it's a great place to hang out for a bit, if you need a place you can drink with friends in the area. Finally, and this is the reason I've been here so many times already: *free* craft spirits tastings every Wednesday evening. It's brilliant of them - they get a brand representative pouring tasters (sometimes it's the owner!) that can speak knowledgeably and passionately about the spirit to interested customers, and then the spirit is for sale right behind them. (Interestingly, a couple of them so far, Hi-Lo was the *only* place in California selling their products. They have some pretty niche stuff.) I've tried a really cool vodka made from coconut flowers(!), a fantastic local whiskey (from downtown LA), an excellent (and pricey!) micro-batch mezcal, and last week, a full range of interesting absinthes (and an amaro!). They do also have weekly beer and wine tastings, but those are $12, so I haven't been to one yet - a much easier sell when it's free.

Poor service. My boyfriend and I walked in. A couple of white gentlemen and woman were already by the bar. A gentleman bartender did not even say hi or make us feel welcome as we approached the bar. It took five minutes until the cashier on the other side told us she would help us. By that time, we still did not feel welcome. We love a good hazy and glass of wine, but not from pretentious, pompous locations. Avoid at best.

This is a really cozy and convenient spot. The first time I came here was for a wine tasting, which they do weekly. It was a fun way to try some different bottles before buying one. Their draft list is always changing, and I am consistently impressed with what is on there. The front of the shop is like a very curated corner store. They seemed to have picked all my favorites (including Jeni's ice cream!). I'm a big fan of the beer selection, focusing almost exclusively on smaller craft breweries. The staff have been really friendly, knowledge, and helpful. This is a fantastic spot to enjoy a drink, and maybe discover something new.

This review is long overdue. Super friendly and helpful staff. I love the products that they sell in the shop as well as the wine. Love their Trivia Wednesdays and they are always having various vendor tastings. They always make you feel welcome and comfortable.

I stopped in here for a quick beer or two. Great selection of beers and just about everything else. I was greeted at the door and I was asked if I needed assistance. Great service. I had some trouble choosing something because everything looked great, ultimately picked up two great IPA's. Hi-Lo is great but its easy to miss it. It sits at a very busy intersection in Long Beach so you should definitely check them out if you are in the area. Next time I come here I want to sit down at the tasting bar and just hang out.

This is my favorite bar. The bar tenders are great so personal and easy going. Ariana is amazing!! Come check them out!! love the IPA they have there.

This place has amazing service! Jameel the person who was helping me went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. He recommended such wonderful wine and beer, and was so pleasant and kind, as well as passionate and knowledgeable about their selections. This is a one stop shop for all things fun. Pretty decent natural wine selection which is why I went in. All kinds of liquor, spirits, beer, wine, fun non-alcoholic drinks and snacks as well! I think I got lucky with parking and am not super familiar with the area but it was pretty easy to park, well-organized, and a very clean restroom as well, which is appreciated. Yay!

New in town and went to hi-lo for a girls night. Ari was so helpful and friendly in suggesting wines and snacks to try and kept us laughing throughout our time there. Also - best burger I've ever had.

Went here the other night for a chill date and had a good time, got great wine and snack recommendations from Ari, she was so nice and helpful, highly recommend picking her mind for a good wine or drink choice. Love the vibes and random selection of drinks available. I will be back soon.

What a great addition to the neighborhood. We stopped by to check it out and were pleased with what we found. A great selection of beer, spirits, and probably wine but I was distracted by the beer and whiskey. We plopped down at the small tasting bar and tried all the beer and wine they had available. Finding a beer I really enjoyed, I ordered a couple of those as we chatted with the friendly help and another couple the wandered up to the bar. Looking forward to going back, especially on a Wednesday when they do spirit samples. If you are looking for Budweiser, you are better off at the 7-Eleven down the block.

Hi-Lo is a dream liquor store, stocked with all the craft beers, whiskeys, and wines (etc.) I could ever want, plus a delicious selection of vegan friendly ice creams, frozen pizzas and other snacks! My only complaint is that they aren't open past 8, when I could go for a late night junk food run/re-up on drinks. Add to that (during non COVID times) a cool atmosphere to hang with a few taps?? Seriously, my dream liquor store with a great central location!

Great selection of whiskeys, and cocktail party food. They have non-dairy cheeses and chilled champagne. The staff is very knowledgeable about their stock, and the ambience is quite inviting

I used to live in Culver City and would stop here for good quality Gin or Rum - loved that they stocked smaller brands and that their staff was always knowledgable on the products. Since moving away, I've started using their delivery service to send gifts to friends. They offer some great add-on gift options in addition to the liquor and delivery has always quick and reliable!
