Hiba Express

I have been coming to Hiba on and off since 2017. The main constant has been the quality of the food which has remained delicious the whole time. Prices are also very reasonable for its location in Zone 1. The lunch deal remains competitive and a student favourite. When I have come for dinner in a large the service has been a bit so-so, with a dish or two not brought out without a reminder. But overall, I'm a happy customer and recommend this place to everyone who wants some delicious Levantine cuisine. The toum (garlic sauce) is well above the average for what you usually get offered in London and keeps me coming back.

What a delightful place. You really feel at home here with a real sense and closeness to Palestine itself. The food, the staff and of course the layout were all amazing. Thank you to our waitress who was so friendly and kind. Can’t wait to come back!

I came here for the Palestinian support ofc, but it turns out that's not the only perk of the place. The staff is all Palestinian, and so the owner and the food. I had a Kafta Meshwi, which came with 3 lamb skewers, for just £17. I think it's great value for money. And the quality was really good. It's not the typical London restaurant, bringing you food after 2 minutes. Here you have to wait, as they prepare everything from scratch, even the drinks or the sauces. Talking about drinks, I had a nice Jellab, which reminded me a bit of a rose lemonade. Definitely a great place to go if you're in Holborn and hungry. You'll make your stomach feel good, and so your heart.

Hiba Express was recommended by a close family member. It did not disappoint. It was more than I expected in terms of food, service and atmosphere. Mixed grill was perfectly made and served. Will certainly go back .

Had the loveliest lunch here today. The food was incredible and some of the best shawarma I have tasted in London. The workers were hospitable and generous. Will definitely return.

Ordered catering for a work event - so generously portioned and good value for money. Beautifully presented and very friendly staff. Catered to all dietary preferences and Sayeda was flexible to my requests and last min changes. Would highly recommend!

TLDR - came at 5, ordered food at 5:45/6 food came at 7 with many missing items, missing drinks, warm/cold food. Cancelled a few items as everyone was overwhelmed. Overcharged us with a few drinks but also over made a wrap 3 times so just gave to us. Don’t go as a big group and on a Saturday. Wanted to go here to support a Palestine restaurant so went as a group on 9 on a Saturday. We understand that it is busy and a group of 9 is pretty big so we were very understanding but I’m sorry we had a terrible experience. We came around 5 (we booked in for 5) and got sat downstairs as we were a bigger group and it was almost like they forgot about us. We sat for almost an hour until we were able to order anything. No one came to check on us and we had to keep going upstairs to get their attention. Finally near to 6 we got to order. Ordered the food and drinks. I had 2 friends that came later on and ordered upstairs, their food platter came before everyone else did. It took an hour to finally get everyone’s food but still there were missing items and missing drinks. Most of the food was warm/cold by the time it got to us. Some food we even ended up cancelling because we were already there for almost 3 hours we were just getting overstimulated. We were all so hungry so we just ate, we were also told someone would come down with the bill but no one did. They did end up giving us randomly 2 chicken wraps because I think there was no communication between anyone. (They didn’t charge us for this). We then just decided after 20 mins to go upstairs to pay. They tried to charge us for extra drinks we didn’t order as two of us ordered the platter for 2 and it came with drinks but they added it as a separate item. I also don’t want to make it about anything but the service but there was a small family of 5 who got sat down and left within an hour and a half while we were still waiting for our food. There was also a bigger group of people who got sat down and within 10 minutes got theirs order taken and within 20/30 minute majority of their food came out. There was a clear distinction between them and us with languages…. Take that as you will. I’m sorry but I really wanted to enjoy my experience here but it just ended up being an overstimulating, cold and stressful evening. It was meant to be for my birthday but I’m just extremely upset. Like I mentioned we all tried to be understanding, the food would have been good if it was hot or warm but it was warm closer to cold. They meat was kind of dry, the chips and rice was unseasoned. Hummus was amazing, salad was great and fresh but overall experience 2/5 sorry.

I came here for dinner, I had excellent Palestinian/Lebanese food, good and cheap! A special mention for the dessert, the knafeh! Delicious, I could have eaten 10 more! The staff is super welcoming and ready to exchange a few cheerful and welcoming words! Highly recommended!

The best vibes with delicious food! We stopped in here and had hummus, battata harra sandwich, falafel sandwich, and chai and all were so delicious! The staff is so inviting and welcoming and really makes you feel like family. The Arabic music playing was a list of bangers - so much so that people started to get up and dance! The owner joined in and made it a point to go to each table and personally ask about them. We had some baklava compliments of the house as well :) overall highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

A decent Mediterranean place. Probably the best thing about this place is its convenient location. The service is fine. The seats are basic. And I could smell the smoke coming from the few outside seats just outside the doors. (Read; smoking seats) The food was ok. The mezze selection was great. The rice and moussaka were both meh. Rice wasn't seasoned much; I expected it would be cooked with some kind of stock. Similar story for the moussaka. It was under-salted and didn't have much taste. I ta basically the taste of tinned tomato.

Stopped in here and dined solo while on vacation. Small place, with a few seats indoor and outside. Lots of takeout orders. Food is extremely fresh and fairly priced. Authentic Lebanese flavors. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good Lebanese fix!

Ordered, and they were over hour and half late. Order time kept increasing. When I tried to cancel order, I was charged full amount. No communication from restaurant as to why food was not in transit yet. I want a refund. Would not order again.

The best restaurant we ate at during our week in London. We are making this review a little late so, for the life of us, we can't remember what we ordered. My wife and I came here with my cousin and my parents and we ordered a couple of appetizers and a main dish for each of us. Needless to say we were pretty hungry. The restaurant was a little busy. But despite this, the service was incredibly attentive and friendly, the decor and photos were fascinating and the food was delicious. Even if you're in London for the traditional British cuisine, this restaurant is a must.

Holy cow this was good!!!! This was my first time eating Lebanese food, but if you're into Mediterranean dishes you will love this place. Service was quick and the food is made fresh. We were limited in some of the things we could choose because we came close to their closing hours. The spread was just what we needed after being on the train for the last 6 hours. If you're in this area of London definitely go here! It's worth the time.

Wow! This small restaurant does a huge takeaway business and we were happy to find a table in the back. Pleased to see they offered a multi course tasting menu and we were SOLD! Everything was tasty and fantastic! Salads, hummus, falafel, shawarma, kabobs... THE BREAD! Mouth watering. Finished with baklava and we were stuffed! Lots of leftovers to take home too! The best part - 4 of us ate for under $100!! Delicious deal for authentic Lebanese/Palestinian food. Bathroom facilities were outside, next door behind a locked door, They were happy to let us keep pestering for access. Enjoy!

We have had Lebanese before, but in addition to quality food - the service was wonderful. My wife had expectations of what a Lebanese restaurant should have, and the milk tea and other things weren't on the menu. After a quick chat with our server, all was provided forthwith. And yes the food was wonderful, and served quickly. I enjoyed the Chicken Shwarma, dolmas, and rice. It was disappointing we didn't have a refrigerator in our hotel... the portion sizes were large and we would have loved to bring leftovers back to enjoy for breakfast. It's super convenient for those on foot - the tube station is literally across the street.

Really delicious wraps! I was in a rush so I got a takeaway, ordering quickly from their lunch menu. The potato wrap was really filling and stuffed with contrasting pickles and a yummy sauce. Would go back in a heartbeat!

I enjoyed a takeaway wrap here for a casual, on-the-go dinner. It's more of a dine-in place, though. It took maybe 10 minutes of waiting to get my food, so not as convenient as the shawarma stands around.

The food including the shawarma me and my wife received was excellent. The reason this establishment fell short is it took 30 minutes to receive our food while we waited in the restaurant. I believe I heard the manager tell the cooks they forgot our chips which is why the delay. Also I received no condiments with my chips which were take away. Got to give people ketchup or Mayo. It's these little things that get you the extra stars otherwise it's average. Manager I believe or the person taking our order who ran the front, seemed nice also. I would go there again, but request a condiment when you order or you may not receive any when you get to where your going. And be sad.

Hiba, true to its name, is a pleasant surprise right next to Holborn station. I noticed this place a while ago but I didn't have the chance to try it until my parents came to visit me. We love Mediterranean cuisine and we have been wanting to try Lebanese cuisine for a while now. We shared a platter of mixed mezzes and other plates suggested to us (we completely trusted the personnel) and half a roasted chicken. Everything was very flavorful and each dish was given particular attention. I must say a particularly enjoyed the falafel, baba ghanoush, and their lemonade with mint. It was a great experience and we all loved the food here. The use of mint was very interesting and shined through every dish. Great service as well, all the people that work there are very attentive and you see how much they care. Keep up the good job!

We just arrived in London today and our first meal has set the bar high in both flavor and customer service. It was a hard choice between stopping for highly rated fish & chips and visiting Hiba. VISIT HIBA! First off, the ratings on this place do it justice. Cozy little atmosphere, very friendly staff, excellent food. Zaid made us feel like family from the moment we walked through the door. When we asked what we should try and gave him the idea of what we were interested in, he curated our entire meal from appetizer to dessert. The shawarma wrap was tender and tasty. Literally, my boyfriend teared up. The mixed grill was excellent. The hummus was perfect. The desserts were very tasty without being overly sweet. 10/10! Definitely hoping to stop in again before we leave.

Made a stop here before going to the Hoborn tube station. Got the wrap and chips which was good and served fast.

I've eaten in. I've had take-away. I just am...underwhelmed. Nothing bad, I suppose, but totally dry falafel, smokey with-an-aftertaste baba ghanoush, and a poorly chopped tabbouleh. Again, not terrible crimes all told, but certainly not something that has me rushing for a three-peat. That said, I was really impressed with how quickly the food was prepared, and how well the chicken was grilled. Yelp note: they do lunch deals, which seem popular.

I had the mixed shawarma and it was truly delicious. Big portions for good prices and open late. Really friendly service too. I hope to be back if I'm in London again.

Oh my gosh ... such, such good food. Vegetarians can feel comfortable here as there are many, many options. I got the halloumi sammie - the only thing that was lacking was the lettuce - it was weak and kinda ruined the taste of the entire meal. But WOW it was delicious. If I lived in London, I'd be here regularly. Lots of items on the menu to choose from and it's all authentic Middle Eastern food. MMMMM

Lunch deal for £6.50 = wrap+chips+soft drink. I had the lamb shawarma. The lamb was not spicy enough. They were generous with the sauces. I added chili sauce to my wrap. The chilli sauce was hot but did not have much flavours. Try dipping the chips in the garlic mayo sauce. Yummy... The restaurant was very busy during lunch time. It is located opposite Holborn tube station and close to colleges. We sat downstairs. They had a waitress coming down to serve every now and then. So try to order everything in a go. Overall the service was good.

Found this restaurant through yelp and I cannot express how great it is!! It was my first time trying Lebanese food and it's delicious! From the food to the friendly staff to the great ambiance! I will definitely be coming back again before I leave London! It is a must to try the food here!!

Went to Hiba for the first time last night on my way back home from an evening in Southwark. I had half-expected to settle for a subpar sandwich at the Tesco Express, since most places near Holborn close by 11pm. I was happy to find Hiba, which is open until 12am. As a big fan of Lebanese cuisine, I had very high expectations, which Hiba had definitely met. I chose the daily platter, which consisted of 4 salads, dolmas, chicken shawarma, and a lot of delicious pita. The food was fresh and delicious. Not to mention the staff are very friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and the restaurant has a warm and classy atmosphere. I will definitely be back to Hiba, and will also take advantage of their free delivery!

Came back late from a trip to Oxford and was starving. Unfortunately, most places around were closed and I thought I would have to settle for a sub-par falafel plate from the usual creepy guy at Kings Kebab across the street from Holborn tube....thank goodness I found Hiba!! I ordered the takeaway "meal deal", which included a chicken/lamb shawarma wrap, chips (or as we say fries in the US), and a soda. Total: 5.45 HELL YES. The chips were thick and hot, fresh out of the fryer. The shawarma wrap had a delicious garlic sauce, and the chicken wasn't overly greasy. This was the first time I've ever tasted lamb, and to my surprise, I enjoyed it! My food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The only downside is that the cashier tried to charge me 7 pounds for the meal, until I showed him the menu with the pricing. Not sure if he was trying to scam me...but whatever.

Love this place! Delicious food with great vegan options. All natural ingredients and super kind staff (thanks again for the great service Murad). Planning on coming here again for sure! :)

Visited this restaurant yesterday and I was really disappointed. The waiter got our orders wrong, after confirming twice and pointing to it on the menu. When I told him he got it wrong he got defensive and argued with me. I decided to keep what I got as I'm paranoid about sending food back. The food itself, chicken shawarma and rice...was very dry and not very flavoursome. Service was slow too. My friend who had been to this place before told me that it was normally pretty good, so maybe I just went on a bad night. All in all, I can't really recommend this place!

Express is the right word. I think I was only in the restaurant for 20 minutes at the most! I was having a small meal though. I had the wrap, fries and drink for £4.95 offer. It is not huge, but then you wouldn't expect it to be at that price. I had a spicy sausage wrap which tasted great. The fries were Mcdonaldsesque. I will definitely be coming back here, probably to try out their Shawarmacertainly to get a proper meal next time. This venue has changed hands a few times over the years.I hope this incarnation lasts as it was not just good food, but something a bit different too

This Palestinian and Libyan restaurant serves both eat-in and take-away, and is worth knowing because it is the only thing reasonable in the vicinity that is open until midnight. The food is very fresh, the ingredients are good quality and portion sizes are good. The meals for around a tenner are large and good value. They will give you a really hot chilli sauce if you ask. Their mezze is delicious no matter what you go for. Everything is cooked and served quickly here in my experience, though the service while friendly is a little too relaxed.

Really loved this place! It was spotlessly clean, we had good service, the music was beautiful and the food was delicious! I had the Hommous Beiruty and lentil soup - the hummus was amazing. It was super creamy and tasted like it was mixed w/ tahini or garlic sauce. The soup was also really good and they gave some pita chips to mix in (YUM!). My 3 year old kid had the Sambousek Cheese (deep fried feta cheese phyllo) and it was also super delicious and a good size (more than enough for a toddler). Husband had some lamb wrap and said it was really good. We got complimentary olives at the beginning of the meal and baklava at the end. I don't even like baklava normally but this baklava was really, really good. I ate two pieces! I'm so happy we found this place! Side note - the bathrooms (in the basement) are teeny tiny but it was fine. In fact the sink was the perfect size for my little guy!

Found this place randomly as I was walking back to my hotel. Food: Everything was well-seasoned and well-prepared. If you haven't been here before, just go for one of the combo-plate style dishes so you can get a taste of a lot of things. I ended up ordering multiple times since everything was great. Service: Friendly staff, helpful in making menu selections if you are not familiar with the type of food.

If you want some good Lebanese food in central London and don't want to pay ££££ Then you got to head here. It's great food, great price and you have To get the set menu for 2. Defiantly come here

Possibly the best Lebanese food I've ever had (aside from my Lebanese mother in law!). Staff was very friendly. Even gave us free herbal tea and baklava after our meal. The aroma and flavor of the tea was amazing. Tabouleh was very fresh and not too soggy and lemony like other places. Kidbeh was spot on and babaganoush was excellent! Not bitter like most experiences I've had. A must if near the Covent Garden area!

just opposite the station, the little lebanese destination is great for a quick bite or full blown meal. I had the lamb swarma wrap with chips and a drink for an eat in price of £6.50. The taste was lovely but i found some large chewy bits (gristle) which couldnt be eaten. The place seems to be very popular with the lunch time crowd and there are plenty of staff on hand. Its clean and bright inside. The menu is full of usual lebanese fair and I would love to go back and try a meze/platter but based on the lunch i had though very tasty the amount of gristle put me off as at least 1/5 was inedible.

Great option late in the evening. Staff is very friendly and the food is good. The price is fair and order ahead from their web site if you want to pick up and it will be ready.

I had the vegetarian platter, which had 5 different starters on it. Everything was cold and we didn't even receive any pitta with our hummus. The best thing on this platter was the hummus. Everything else was like it was prepared the day before and had just been sitting around. If you order a wrap to eat in, they give it to you as if you were taking away. Apparently some of the other options were good. Very casual atmosphere, so don't expect fine dining.

The food is pretty good especially for the amount of money you spend for it. The mixed shawarma is probably my favorite thing they serve. As far as London goes, good food for the money.

Unexpected find in London. Hospitable, restaurant serving Tasty food prepared just like a grandmother would make and beautifully presented. Good service. We returned for a second meal which we equally enjoyed. Tender lamb, wonderful hummus and tasty aubergine were our favorites. Highly recommended for a great dinner at a reasonable cost.

Family-owned. Great service. Interesting variation on hummus, Beirut-style...spicier than standard hummus. Huge portions. High quality. The grilled lamb kabobs were excellent.

The Foul Madamas and grilled halloumi hit the spot. I haven't had anything this authentic in awhile. The place stays busy but not overwhelmingly so. Dining in is fairly relaxed. Service was quick but not overbearing.

Excellent food - fresh, well-balanced fattoush, great shwarma, delicious juicies. I've been to Middle East and this restaurant recreates the brilliance of the food - fresh, elegantly spiced, varied, hearty. Lovely waiter too - good recommendations and friendly. Whole place was clean & smart - good photos of Baalbek on the wall. All round a great place in central London given that there are so many bland chain eateries it's a huge bonus.

So tasty! Really great food for a decent price. Get there early it going in your lunch break as there is always a line - and for good reason! Tasty food!!

I ordered a mixed Shawarma wrap to take-away. Fresh ingredients and fast service. Can't complain for less than £5.

This is my second favourite restaurant. I went there recently as a result of a reccomendation from my sister andI was not dissapointed. Sited opposite Holborn station wiith a small shop front, I expected a poky little dirty restaruant inside. Quite the contrary. The interior was well designed, clean and quite spacious. When seated there is a clear view of the chefs and it is exciting to be able to watch them preparing the food for you! I ordered a starter of moutabal baba ganoush to chare between myself and three others and the meal deal (a falafel wrap which comes with fries and a bottle of water) for £5.95. The moutabal baba ganoush was the WONDERFUL WONDERFUL roasted aubergine dish. Unlike other restaurants which "claim" to roast the aubergine, this place really did. The smoky flavour was delicious and mixed with yoghurt and tahini it was an absolutely amazing dish. Not only that, but it comes with a whole basket of soft thin light lebanese bread!!! For such a cheap price I had expected fast food standard meal, but this was not the case. The wrap came enclosed in a paper bag so that the wrap stayed hot. Inside it was was stuffed with the perfect amount of falafels with tomatoes and salad. The wrap was not a chewy doughy tortilla wrap, but a soft light one made from lebanese bread. The wrap contained parsely and although I HATE parsley I still give this restaurant 5 stars since the rest of it was perfect! The wrap was the perfect size leaving you comfortably full. The bowl of fries accompanying the falafel was massive!! And although the fries were fries, not home made chips, they were surprisingly nice! They were not fried in hydrogenated fat and they did not leave you with the horrible after taste that mcdonalds chips leave. Service was good and I can't fault the experience!! Excellent!

By far the best spicy hummus in London. Their food is fresh and service is excellent. I only wish they had a minced chicken kofta but everything we got was absolutely delicious The cherry on top is the little pieces of baklava (they've mastered the level of sweetness!) they offer on the house with your bill. Definitely worth trying this place out.

This place is fabulous. Quick service and even faster takeaway. The mixed or chicken shawarma are my go to. Hiba also offers a great lunch special for a shawarma with either salad or chips. The juices are also good but a little too basic for the prices.

I ordered take-away, it took well over an hour, food was cold and the delivery man verbally assaulted the doorman of my building. When I called to complain I was stuck on the phone for 20 mins being handed off to person to person explaining my situation over and over and refused any compensation for what happened. I was eventually told to stop complaining and was hung up on. Horrible service and just very mediocre food that was far too expensive. Don't go here!

Walking down High Holborn I was concerned that I was going to struggle to find a restaurant with some personality. Sandwiched between Macdonalds and another forgettable 'restaurant' with equal levels of sterility, I stumbled across Hiba Express. The welcome I had as I walked through the door as a lone diner cannot be found in Michelin star fine dining service. I felt like a guest at someone's house. I had a melon juice to drink- my first ever. Unadulterated pure juiced melon on ice- delicious. As I was waiting for my food, I was brought delicious zingy olives. The houmous ( a staple part of my normal diet) was the best I've ever tasted. The tabbouleh, fresh and invigorating. My main course, a platter of meats and traditional stews served with freshly made flat bread and smokey babaganoush was a delight to the tongue and the eyes, radiating taste, colour and attention to detail. The waiters were charming (and gorgeous) and the refreshing mint tea and complimentary Baklava rounded off the meal perfectly. Dining at Hiba Express, took me back to the year I spent in Palestine. I miss the food so much and here is the closest you will come to a culinary adventure to the middle east. A heart warming experience.

Ok, there are plenty of more or less shabby takeaways that serve Asien food. Most of them are worth just as much as stuffing your tummy with something. This place proves the difference. It serves class A fresh, authentic Lebanese food. Friendly service, neutral decor and calm atmosphere. Value for the money. Very recommended.
