This bright, brick-walled spot serves up creative, sharable dishes over a wood fire, making for a standout dining experience with great vibes and cocktails.
"We’re not entirely sure whether we’re more into Hicce’s huge arched windows or their great bit-of-this, bit-of-that boards. Either way, this restaurant in King’s Cross looks sort of like an industrial, modern church designed by some deity of minimalism, and it’s perfect for anyone who can’t decide whether they’re in the mood for grilled skate or a whole beef rump with shiitake and bok choy. Thanks to their ‘Hicce experience’ menu, you can try a bit of everything, all rounded off with a creme caramel. Open from morning to night, it’ll work just as well for a lunchtime catch-up as a lowkey birthday dinner, you can access the restaurant via their lift." - heidi lauth beasley

"An evening at Hicce in Coal Drops Yard was a great reminder of how restaurants bring us together in a state of communal celebration." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team
"Opened by Pip Lacey and Gordon McIntyre, Hicce offers a relaxed atmosphere with signature hot sticks and a variety of dishes cooked over hot coals. The restaurant is incorporated into the Wolf & Badger store and has a planned summer terrace and outdoor barbeque." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team
"Opening their own restaurant had been a long-held ambition for old friends Pip Lacey, ex-head chef of Murano, and her business partner Gordon McIntyre, and they considered many locations before deciding Coal Drops Yard was the perfect fit. The name, pronounced ee-chay, is Latin for "current" and "of the moment." It’s incorporated into the Wolf & Badger store—which resembles that of a New York City loft—and in the evening, when the music’s turned up, you feel like you’re a guest at a banging house party. Sip on a cocktail while you choose the dishes for your starter sharing board: something pickled, something cured; perhaps some rillettes and beer bread. Next, try some of their signature hot sticks—upmarket versions of kebabs, which come with an array of different tastes and textures and which, like many of their other dishes, are cooked over hot coals. There’s a relaxed and happy air at Hicce—something the bubbly service goes a long way towards creating—and which the planned summer terrace and outdoor barbecue can only add to." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team
