This place is amazing! It is so beautiful and peaceful! You should visit and buy some of their awesome things! Their meat is amazing and so tasty! I like to know where my food comes from, and eating their meat gives me peace of mind because I am confident they know what animal the beef actually came from.

I'm extremely disappointed. Whoever butchered these either had no idea what they were doing or were intentionally doing it incorrectly to boost the weight. As someone who was raised on a farm, and have professional cooking background, and worked in a 5star restaurant as an assistant chef, im no stranger to cuts of meat I bought the ribeye10oz steaks thinking they looked pretty good. While they seemed to look good in the vac sealed packs. Once I got them open, I found that the fat tail was never trimmed off and folded underneath! Basically hidden. The one was so bad that once trimmed off i was left with a 5oz ribeye. If it was just a little, no big deal.. a little xtra fat just adds some flavor.. but wow.. for what I paid... to only get a 5oz usable steak out of it.. I would not recommend

The staff is nice and friendly. Was there for the Faire. As Renaissance events go, this one rates about a 2. However, the $13 was worth it to see the visitors and their costumes and good cheer. Vendors were excellent as well.

We got two of the dried meat salamis: Soppressata and Salami Classico. These were for a charcuterie board. Both were outstanding... best ever.

Google
Great place all around. I have been taking my kids here for years and it’s always a win. I personally love the lack of supervision. The staff trusts you to follow rules so you feel more relaxed enjoying the animals

Google
A working farm with an event venue. Wing in the mountains the terrain is hilly and uneven. The event I attended was comfortable with tables and chairs. Food was by food truck on site. There was music that day. The store sells meats raised from the farm that are a little more than supermarket prices but you know where it came from locally.

Friendly staff, delicious food, and beautiful scenery made for a enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!

Google
Hickory Nut produces high quality meats that definitely taste better than store bought, without a doubt. This year I purchased a Thanksgiving turkey here, along with a few other items in the shop. My only suggestion is in regard to the Thanksgiving turkeys due to their size. I arrived to pick up my turkey at about 11am - only one hour after the pick up window started. By the time I was there, all the XS and S turkeys were gone. Every single person near me in line, as well as myself, asked for the smallest option they had left. Perhaps next year they should offer pre-cut half turkeys because most customers just didn’t want a turkey that big.

Yelp
Great meats, love visiting the farm store for many reasons. Fun atmosphere, nice staff, great selections. My only complaint is the customer service for pre-orders and CSA. Not the best, but if you are persistent it's worth it. Hard to get a hold of people and orders are often not at the market when they're supposed to be, or there's miscommunication. Some staff seemed confused on the CSA pick up protocols, but overall a great place.

Yelp
Great stop. Small grocery. Grounds fun to explore. Pick your own berries. Friendly staff. Clean facility. Family friendly

Yelp
Great selection of grass fed meats. Steaks are wonderful and service is amazing. Very clean and excellent customer service.

Yelp
I loved this place! A beautiful & friendly area, I stopped here for a fundraiser event benefitting farms & conservancy. Shopping in HNG for pumpkins, jam, drinks, and artisanol ice cream from Marion NC was a real treat. The bags to select a variety of apples and the seriously varied meat selection look amazing, unfortunately as I am traveling thru I could not purchase these. The private event area -- open barn style -- is one of the best I've seen. A huge area with stage & light strings, it has a big dance floor and a great kids play area full of tricycles. Outside there is a giant rope web and large "sliding ducts" for more play space. Get a pumpkin and book an event!!

Rick T.

Yelp
Another five star place offering as I can tell local 100% grass fed beef to its customers. Bone broth , chicken, pork, eggs, and many more items are available in several cases as you enter the store. Head cheese and the bologna I took to eat for second breakfast to eat in car was delicious. I also bought a frozen ribeye steak and 2 chicken quarters to eat at a later date. Cool spot outside of city to visit or eat lunch opens at 10am.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. Great food, great atmosphere, kind employees. Even though this is some what off the beaten path-it is most definitely a must visit!

Yelp
Hickory Nut Gap Farm is a working farm that surprising enough; is not in Hickory. It's in Fairview (take that Hickory), and has a ton of fun activities and a yum lunch restaurant/deli on site featuring sandwiches with pasture raised meats. It's really cute when you drive in; and has two large parking areas. I suggest parking at the large lot on your left that says "parking" (there's another one up closer to the store, but this ones much larger and lets you check out some of the scenery before lunch. Plus; it's a perfect place for the puppers to get out some energy out before you eat. Unless you and/or your dog gets hangry - then I highly suggest parking close to the store and eating first, before your adventures. So, after we parked - the doggo and I walked down to the stream and he splashed around for a bit. On the way up to the store and deli (after some light hearted shenanigans) we stopped so Mrs. Buttersworth* could sniff out the "Party Shed" that (presumably) is available for rentals (considering the large sign on the side of the barn said "Party Shed, Rentals Available". It seemed like a great place for an event because it was covered and shady - and had a built in stage so you can host that hilarious mime performer that no one else in your family thinks is funny; but always hits on your brothers girlfriend. Up the hill there's lots of darling pumpkins for sale out front and scattered around the store - or you can pick your own up at the vast pumpkin patch. Turns out - dogs are not allowed in the store itself (totally understandable) - so I suggest brining a friend to hang out with the pups while you order, pick up your food, and paruse the local yummies for sale. I had initially gone to HNG with the intent of ordering a pasture raised Chicken Salad Sandwich, but they were all out (which is a good sign because it means they don't scoop it out of a tub that's been hiding in the freezer for the past six years). Instead, I ordered a Cuban Sandwich, and a Strawberry Rhubarb Soda to drink. The Cuban was made from pastured pork and came with a side of nomz chips that tasted homemade and were very crunchy. The sammich itself was delish and filled with fresh tasting pork, pickles, and yummy cheese (the traditional Cuban stuff). The (also homemade tasting) mustard gave it a nice kick. To top it off - the bread it came on was crunchy and grilled to perfection. My Strawberry Rhubard Soda from Waynesville Soda Jerks was extremely yum, not too sweet - and had the just the right amount of Strawberry, as well as Rhubarb flavor. If you do decide to order something sweet to drink- I suggest not sitting by the "Bee Observatory". A highly intrusive bee kept landing on my soda; and hanging out on the bottle like he owned the place. (Ok; I'm not gonna lie - it was pretty charming.) Our favorite part of lunch (and the farm in general) was the adorbs Farm Dog that kept coming over to our table and brining Mrs. Buttersworth* a stick, which was completely adorable and very smooth. (I usually introduce myself to people I like by not making eye contact and mumbling something awkward under my breath as I trip on the ground, while walking right past them.) PS; he has has a total crush on her now. Anyway, after a fun lunch - lastly, we checked out the mini corn maze to make sure there wasn't a miniaturized Jack Nicholson hiding in there. (The coast was clear, just FYI; but there was a very pretty sky in the background to be seen.) Before we left Mrs. Buttersworth* & I took a much needed zen moment on the small bridge over the stream... staring out into the vast unknown; and pondered the meaning of life. Ok - to be fair; he was gazing and I was shouting at him to pose on his 'good side', while pasesbyers shot seething glances in my direction as I screamed "to the left Mrs. Buttersworth* - more to the left - that's your better side! We need more light!!" On that note - for all of you that have been following me (us) for a while, I'm proud to announce Mrs. Buttersworth* has been invited to walk in Paris Fashion week next year. *names have been changed for anonymity

Yelp
This is a not-to-miss side trip from Asheville! Seriously, every single time we go to Asheville, we're sure to stop at Hickory Nut to stock up. It's in a little town called Fairview (near Looking Glass Creamery, also worth a visit!), only 15-20 minutes from Asheville. If you're going back to Charlotte afterwards like we do, you can also take a pretty route home that winds you down 74 into Lake Lure/Chimney Rock without adding too much time to the trip. Throw a cooler in the back of your car and spend some time shopping their little market. They always give us ice for our cooler, btw. We usually take home skirt steak, ribs, ground beef and hot dogs. They have a wide selection, so I'm sure you'll find your favorites, too. The quality of their meat (especially the fresh/not frozen items) is unrivaled. They recently opened a deli counter that serves a great lunch. Along with lunch -- I had an amazing bowl of chili last time -- we've also picked up some amazing pastrami and bacon ends there. So, don't forget to browse up there when you're shopping, too. Before you leave, check the ice cream selection. If they have the bacon flavor, do yourself a favor and get 2-scoops!

Yelp
I happened upon this place while traveling between Lake Lure and Asheville, the small roadside signs scattered along the highway caught my eye as I maneuvered through the switchbacks. Once you turn into the drive it less than a quarter mile to the Farm Store on the right, once you exit your vehicle you'll see this is much more than a farm store it's a working kitchen and butchery filled with lots of farm to table options. There's quite the selection of organic products as well as grass-fed beef in a variety of cuts. The shelves are filled with salsa and jams as well as cheese, cured meats and sausages. The staff here is friendly and very helpful even though these types of stores seem to turn into roadside attractions and are filled with tourist making the staff at a lot of places somewhat lackadaisical but that's not the case here. The place is fill with lots of positive energy and the smokey aroma will have you drooling - now if once thing rings clear in all the farm stores I've had the chance to visit it's the pricing, don't expect deep discounts here the products are of very high quality although I'm sure there are times when they mark the perishable items down. Don't forget this is working farm so there's lots to explore and don't forget to grab your free meat stick with your YELP check-in...

Lynn T.

Yelp
Lots to see and do here as well as purchasing items at the farm store - Barn dances to baby chicks! They have special events for children. What s great way to see all the animals and enjoy some fun outdoors!

Jeff H.

Yelp
I'm a little reluctant to review this simply out of selfishness. You see I love this place and If the word gets out everyone else will too and I want to keep it all for myself. I already know this place is not a secret as many locals and tourist alike have discovered Hickory Nut Gap Farm. Even if you have never been chances are one of your favorite restaurants in town are probably using some of there choice meats in the kitchen. In fact they are known for some of the best meats in town. They are able to prove this, both in their shop at the farm as well as the deli, where you can get some delicious sandwiches and other bites. Each meal I've eaten has been fresh and delicious. To eat local is to support your community. They support all other local entities by selling other wares from local breweries, creameries, ciders and more. If you are fortunate enough make it out to one of the live music events in the barn, it's well worth they few dollars for the entrance fee. If you are bringing the whole family, let it be known there is plenty to do to keep the littles happy. Slides made out of drainage pipes, the tree houses by the creek, and animals to see(as this is a working farm), there will be plenty to keep everyone occupied. I Highly recommend a visit to Hickory Nut Gsp farm... just don't spread the word too much, selfishly...me.

Marcus L.

Yelp
Could not ask for better service and the meat share program is really stacking up every month. We like the large share. It leaves some for the stock pile.

CB S.

Yelp
This is a great local shop where you can get locally raised meats and awesome sandwiches. We love to come here when we are in need of some quality meat for a dinner with friends or family. The price is a little high but that can be expected from a smaller farm that really cares for their animals. Check out their deli. They always seem to have a good special that is going on and also have a great place to sit outside if the weather is nice.

Stacy N.

Yelp
Ahhhhhmazing! What a cool farm and loved the fact they had some fun stuff for the kids to do as well. Hay rides and a little slide, super cute. We got to watch them feed some of the baby animals... the goats were so cute. Now let's not forget what we came here for... the meats! We got some filets, a whole chicken, beef jerky and more. Everything was beyond delicious... and knowing where it was raised was even better. This place really takes pride in what they do and you can tell from the moment you get there. Staff was super friendly and helped us pick out the best stuff. Even had to come back by on our way out of town to grab more jerky, the best we've ever had (shhhh don't tell my dad he thinks his is the best). Will be back in Asheville in a month and plan to stop here as soon as we land. Great job guys!

Olga P.

Yelp
Great place with animals to see and great food and snacks. We arrived with our family and the ladies running the farm store were AMAZING!!! They gave us great suggestions on snacks and of places to go. They asked my kids if they wanted to see the baby goats and then told my children a story about one of the goats. We saw chicks and pigs and goats. We also met Tilly, the resident dog. There is a large barn they use for events and they also have a beautiful view. Overall a fabulous place run by lovely people.

Marcella D.

Yelp
Took a ride to HNG farm on Sunday. Great selection of meats, and their "deli" meats were just fabulous. I do NOT eat bologna, but my partner "snuck" a piece in my mouth without telling me what it was....I could have sworn it was high quality ham! OMG! The smoked ham was wonderful, as was the salami too. Got some andouille sausage which we had last night....oh so YUM We also had lunch there. I had their chili, really well made, lots of meat n veggies. Flavor was mild, but nice variety of hot sauces on tables allowed one to vary heat/flavor according to ones taste. I abhor chili with excessive green pepper, but HNG's was spot on. J had the hot dog which, like their bologna, was superb. Also discovered Smokin J's chipotle hot sauce, really nice flavor with medium heat, got a bottle for home. We'll be heading there again soon! And yes, HNG has both a deli counter and small cafe in the primary building, first one you come to on left of driveway.

Shauna L.

Yelp
Stopped here on a beautiful spring day to check it out. I decided to eat lunch and was happy I did. I had the Poutine (lard-fried french fries, smoked pulled pork, brown gravy, cheese curds & herbs). The pork was extremely tender. I do not remember the last time I had pork that tender before. I wish there were more cheese curds though. Especially for $12. I picked up some of their eggs, chorizo and breakfast sausage. They sell other local products as well. Everything is a bit pricey in my opinion but it's nice to splurge to support local artisans. They have picnic tables outside to eat at and slides for the kiddos. This is a great place to check out anytime and have a nice lunch and to pick up some yummy meats!

Christophe P.

Yelp
Located 20 min away from Asheville. Nothing crazy with a few pigs , chicken house and 3 goats. Berries field is cool for children. $9 a pound.

Julia B.

Yelp
Peach ice cream and chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream are yummy. Mini scoop $2 - great deal.

Ann T.

Yelp
Headed out here in search of ice cream and found an awesome farm store with loads of meats and animal products. The staff were super friendly. Always love an outfit who uses compostable disposables especially when you can see they are making and using their own compost.

Allison M.

Yelp
Beautiful place just far enough out there! The shop is simple and cute, and the festivals they do are adorable! I did go horseback riding here and I loved it! Such kind workers and great horses/trails. Lovely place to visit on good weather. I do wish I could come run these trails! There would probably be too many horses. Ha

Meagan H.

Yelp
I love when this place isn't packed! We went there kind of late in the day and expected them to be closed, happy to say they weren't. You never know in NC down unpopular roads if stores just decided they weren't busy enough so they close for the day. Not HNGF! Their selections on everything are great. So many local products to choose from. Meat, sodas, lotions, etc. I got a nice hat for $10 which will serve me well for a while in a hot kitchen. We went there specifically for the blueberry maple sausage for Mother's Day Brunch, it is so good. They also had chorizo and merguez! We tried the chorizo, not our favorite. It almost tasted like the meat needed to be used before it went back and they turned it into sausage. It also needed some clove, paprika, garlic and chili powder to really make it taste like chorizo. That's the only reason this isn't five stars. Either way, we will be back!

Carl S.

Yelp
The absolute best meat in the mountain ... great butchery and smokehouse. Anything you get here will be excellent and organic. The sandwiches for lunch are made with the homegrown and home cured meats. The smoked sausage is worth the trip to Fairview!!!! Awesome!

Chelsea M.

Yelp
This was a cool place to come. Despite the rain and the mud, this was awesome. You can see the baby cows, chicks, and goats. The cider produced on this farm is top notch. Sadly we arrived to late to have eaten at the Deli. From what we could see there was a birthday party for children going on with pony rides. If you want to support a local business, this a great way to do it.

Terri W.

Yelp
Love this farm. Their meats are the ultimate in quality and taste. Fun farm and farm store. They also make great sandwiches to order. Go play with the goats and piglets while you wait!

Mahisorn N.

Yelp
This is an awesome place. The HNG burger is the must!! Friendly staffs, lovely farm animals, spectacular hot sauces, delicious bacon ice cream and impeccable atmosphere.

Lindsey B.

Yelp
We were traveling back south after spending time in the mountains. We are from Florida so I was hoping for a local "fall experience" for our family. We have two toddlers and after reading reviews I was excited for a pumpkin patch, live animals, and slides. The pumpkin patch was nonexistent - there were about a dozen pumpkins just randomly strewn in the field and I guess they were setting up more. I appreciate the dark store and the wide variety of high quality meats- I was just very disappointed in the lack of activities for kids. We went on a Friday so I guess they only have some things on the weekends. We were hoping to see animals and we only found young chicks, bees, and two pigs. It was hard to figure out what was what and where to go. The tricycle track was very dark and many of the vehicles needed repair. I appreciate the local kitchen and store but this was not a great place to go with the kids to get the experience we were looking for.

Ryan H.

Yelp
We just came across this on a trip out in the country and wow were we glad we did What a fun place. I think it was after their big apple season but boy the meat selection was great. I got a little bit of smoked ham, s cider and sage sausage link and some pork pate'. My wife got a few other things but the pate and ham were partially eaten on the drive home and it was fantastic. I since have eaten the sausage and really loved it as well. What a great place and think really good for kids but us adults just loved it. The staff was super helpful and love the idea behind this business. Grass fed, hormone free stuff and an experience to boot.

Jordan S.

Yelp
Wow. This place definitely lived up to the hype. The fact that the majority of all the food is made onsite is ridiculous. High quality food and awesome environment. Totally worth the drive out of town.

Linnea P.

Yelp
Small grocer with expansive offerings of quality foods, including lots of meat and specialty drink options. They have both a meat counter and a fresh food counter and the night we were there they were holding a barn dance that seemed very well attended. It's a bit out of the way but well worth stopping by.

Scott S.

Yelp
Cool place to visit! I stopped in for the first time today to purchase some meat. They have the best bacon around and this was my main reason for finding the farm. I was surprised by the large selection of meats and other food items. They are a bit on the pricey side but worth it for quality meat products. Free range, antibiotic free etc...

Kelleigh M.

Yelp
Cute little "farm" to go in order for the kids to burn off some energy. While traveling with my family in Asheville, we stopped here to let our toddler burn off some energy and it was wonderful for that! They had baby chicks, pigs and cows. They had a silo filled with corn that the kids could enter and play with-great sensory fun. And the trikes and course that was set up was fun too. Afterwards, you can grab some lunch in their cafe or some cured meat to go. I would definitely recommend this little farm to families with small children.

Amanda G.

Yelp
Great place to buy local eggs, cheese, and all kinds of meats. Order your Thanksgiving turkey, your Christmas ham & your Easter lamb from here! Everything is delicious, and has been treated humanely. They also have great sandwiches & ice cream (the lavender lemon sorbet is incredible) in the little deli area.

Sydney W.

Yelp
Today my family and I decided to spend this sunny Monday over at Hickory Nut Gap Farm. It was our first time so we did not know what to expect. Once we arrived we went into the little cafe area where they serve all kinds of sandwiches and ice cream! We got there around 2:30ish and unfortunately they were out of the soup of the day already. That was a bit of a disappointment for my grandma but luckily the sandwiches and poutine made up for it! Hickory nut uses their own farm raised meats so everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! The poutine could of used a bit more gravy but it was still delicious! A bit over priced but I understand since it is their own farm raised meat they are using. We also got the Cuban sandwich that my mom loved (the mustard that comes on it is SUPER SPICY!!! So keep that in mind if you choose to order it.) My dad got the pastrami sandwich and it was amazing. There definitely needs to be more seating. It was pretty busy for 2:30 on a Monday. After lunch we decided to go visit the farm animals which was nice and what you would expect on a farm. The "pumpkin patch" is extremely small and basic. The corn maze is not attractive at all. Apparently it was even destroyed in some parts due to bad weather. We didn't even attempt it. Overall it's a cute little area but they have much more potential. If you're looking for a good corn maze I would recommend Eliada before Hickory Nut. Good food I would recommend Hickory Nut.

Angela P.

Yelp
We loved this place! The store offered fresh and cured meats, apple cider, little trinkets and jewelry, beer, and there's a restroom inside of the store. It was great to see some animals too, like chicks, goats, cows and baby cows. We also laid in a silo filled with corn feed, which was very comfortable! The corn maze was easy because the corn didn't grew tall.

Heather H.

Yelp
While visiting family for the thanksgiving weekend we happened upon this gem. I think it was all of the road signs promising goodies just around the bend. The people there were sooo helpful. We bought jewelry, honey, apple butter, ham, apples and sausage. If you have time make sure to step into the corn silo! This place is a must

Paula G.

Yelp
Make sure to stop at Hickory Nut Gap for the best meat you've ever tasted! We hear that the best local restaurants buy their meat here. Sunday was a farm tour day and the place was busy. We bought the bacon ends and plan to fry them up in batches and freeze them for salad toppings or over eggs for breakfast. And, best of all they had a Swedish fav of mine...Potato sausage. Can't wait to try it!

Yates J.

Yelp
Wish we had one of these by our home in Charleston! By one of these, I mean a well-rounded, doing-it-right farm that not only puts out amazing grassfed, hormone-free beef, but also has a culture that invites whole families to come and enjoy hayrides, pony rides, etc. on the weekend. Throw a corn maze in there and some educational spaces in the barn, they're doing it right! If you forget all of that and just open your mouth and taste their pork breakfast sausage, you'd be sold sold sold. That sausage crisps up and tastes amazing- best sausage my wife and I have ever eaten. They've got fresh chicken breasts, sausages like Gaelic Beer Brats and Kielbasas, and every cut of beef you could ever ask for. A great spot to grab lunch too with covered picnic tables setup adjacent to bin after bin of fresh picked apples: from Cortlands, to Arkansas Black, to Red & Golden Delicious. If you're local, you should be stocking up every week! If you're passing through, bring a cooler!

Allen H.

Yelp
I have been deceived. For 45 years, I thought I knew what bacon is. But, I was woefully disenfranchised by Big Bacon offering me and #merica for that matter, a pale imitation of the original. I recently picked up Hickory Nut's smoked #Bacon thinking "fresh bacon, finally!", but the next day when I opened the paper sheath in the early mountain morn' the bacon gods awoke, smoke filled the air, and enlightenment happened. This was bacon before me. Real bacon. The best damn bacon to befall mankind this side of Heaven. If you are in the Asheville area don't pass this hog laden gem by. #HogHeaven #Highlands #NC

Tina S.

Yelp
Wonderful place to bring the whole family! This was my choice for our family get together for Fall. They a fun corn maze, 2 huge slides, a rope Spider Web, other fun stuff as well plus lots of cute animals to see & pet. The made fresh Apple Cider was a big hit with everyone. They have a great selection of delicious meats & sandwiches at their farm fresh deli. All 12 of us agree we need to go back this fall we loved it.

Joan W.

Yelp
Enjoyed our afternoon at the farm. Lunch, roaming to meet the goats and buying meat / pasture raised eggs to take home! Service was friendly and we enjoyed the small cafe friendships we made with the other patrons!

Laura C.

Yelp
If you live or our visiting the Asheville area make the trip out to HNGF. You can see how a small local farm is managed and get some of the finest cut meats in town. Meat right from the farm plus lots of other goodies from the farm. The out door barn has activities for all ages. Don't miss the goats, they are funny and such a hoot to watch jump and play around. A must visit!!!

Brett C.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We find ourselves going there all the time, you can't go wrong with anything that you order. Not only is the food delicious, the farm itself is beautiful. We liked it so much we had our wedding picnic in the Big Barn this spring. When picking the menu, all the meats, cheeses, and accouterments are made on site or locally sourced. We are so impressed by the food and any employee we have been in contact with. It was a great laid back place to have a large event. Highly recommended!

Craig S.

Yelp
Surprised by their amazing burger. Awesome grass fed beef, spicy pickles and spicy house sauce. Totally exceeded my expectations. Lots of good local beers too.

Nancy F.

Yelp
Great little farm to table place to get something to eat after a hike. Wished i lived closer to buy their meats. It all looked wonderful

Eric H.

Yelp
Lydia is right, Hickory Nut Gap Farm does it right, if you are an omnivore, like most of us. In September/October, they have an active program, catering to kids & families. Otherwise, just a small store. The refrigerated and frozen meat is excellent, and tasty, I can big-time tell the difference between their meat and grocery store feed-lot beef. The staff is friendly and helpful, to boot, and they ship!

Erin H.

Yelp
I hesitate to write a review for Hickory Nut Gap Farm because I don't want too many people to find it! But as an astute Yelper I must do my duty and tell you that this place is the best. We took a beautiful drive through the rolling hills between Hendersonville and Asheville a few Sundays ago to spend the day at the farm during their fall festival which took place every day during September and October. There was an admission fee but the experience was well worth the price. The farm's location is beautiful. There are a number of areas to view all types of animals - cows, horses, pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, and baby chicks. The barn is filled with activities - a super cool bike riding area, a rope swing, a tire swing, and an elevated goat walk. During September and October, there were pony rides for the kids, a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and food trucks selling delicious BBQ made from the farm's meat. Finally, you must bring your cooler and some ice so you can stock up on delicious grass-fed and pastured beef, pork and chicken for great prices from the farm's store. My husband, myself, and our two year old all had a blast and we would highly recommend a visit to the farm any time of year. They have an excellent website you can check out to find out what is happening on any given day. And most of the year there is no admission cost. For those times when you can't make the trip to the farm, their beef is available at Whole Foods in Greenville as well as a number of locations around Asheville. Support local, pastured animals, and support our local farms with a trip to Hickory Nut Gap!

Yelp
We love this farm! We are CSA members and frequent the farm store monthly, if not more. They continue to expand the items they sell, and now have the absolute best milk ever! I just wish they always had it in stock! If you're looking for a snack while at the farm, try the sweet beef sticks... OMG delicious! There is always something fun going on at the farm, even if it's just a quick walk around to see the horses, piggies, and baby chicks. In the Fall, they have more activities, like a corn maze and nature walk. An awesome farm in WNC! Thankful for the organic foods they provide!

Yelp
This is a nice farm nestled in the country outside Asheville. You will find many of the local restaurants use locally sourced meats from Hickory Nut. There is something for all ages at Hickory Nut. You can visit with the animals in the barn, make friends with the ones roaming the grounds or wander the farms maze and pick some produce. My favorite was the market area where you can buy your own fresh meat.
