Great Places in Spokane to Eat and Drink

"At first glance, bagels and ice cream might seem like an awkward pairing, but chef and owner Jennifer Davis abides by one rule when it comes to opening restaurants: Do what you love. Davis has been at the helm of Spokane’s best creamery for years, crafting favorites like “cheese plate,” made with apricot jam, dried figs, salty cashews, and goat cheese. The recent addition of bagels brought in a new morning crowd, which gives way to a lunch line for the bagel sandwiches." - Kris Kilduff

My partner and I have been coming to this place since the beginning when you had to preorder everything. We loved it and have been coming regularly since then. However over the past six months I've noticed a gradual decline in quality and consistency. My Bacon cheddar bagel has been getting less and less bacon, when toasted I never know if it's gonna come out barely warm or burnt and the amount of cream cheese added varies drastically even in the same order. I've noticed sometimes I find scallions in my plain cream cheese. We'll be back because we love the owner and the place. I just hope they get back to being more consistent.

I had heard the best bagels in the area are at Hidden Bagels on the South Hill and apparently I heard correctly. I know bagels seem easy to make but then again, some of the best things in life are made to look easy by masters of the art. I understand the owner went to New York to learn how to make the perfect bagel before opening this shop. Is that true? Who knows. But it makes a great story and I’m sticking to it. I wish I wasn’t so full after lunch, otherwise I would have tried the ice cream at the attached parlor. Since we didn’t, I guess I have a great excuse to go back. You should too. Google
Quaint, neighborhood bagel shop with a variety of scratch made bagels and bagel sandwiches. Vegan options including V cream cheese smear and VegFast Sammy. Absolutely delicious! Welcoming, friendly staff and atmosphere. Great price for the portion size.

Google
By far the best bagel shop in the greater Spokane area! Tasty, fresh and always a friendly environment, their turkey pesto + egg is my breakfast dream sandwich! We will keep coming back no doubt!

Anna A.

Google
Love this bagel shop! The bagels are true sourdough bagels and are delicious. The schmears and sandwich combos are varied. I always get the vegfast sandwich. It has plenty of sprouts, pickled veggies, and avocado with schmear. Yum.

Google
So glad we stopped by here before the airport! The Lox on Rosemary bagel is perfect. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Loved it!

Google
My fiancé and I were very excited to try this place but were very disappointed when I paid $25 for 2 bagels and $1.50 extra for cream cheese and this was what my bagel looked like when opened up. Sadly will not be going back.

Erin W.

Google
Great bagels, friendly service, decent coffee. Nice selection of bagels and cream cheeses. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town.

Yelp
Great local bagel spot in Spokane. There were some inconsistencies on cream cheese, however everything was super tasty. Order early for best selection. We ordered online pick-up, which I recommend if the website is open, since the line can get long. Nice staff.

Yelp
So delicious Many options Scratch made I can eat here everyday Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yelp
Goes to the fricken moon. A great bagel sandwich is exactly what Spokane was missing. So good.

Yelp
The bagel shop Spokane needed! That perfect balance of crisp and crunchy on the outside but soft and buttery on the inside. These bagels have the approval of my favorite New Yorker too. Plus, the vibe and overall community of Hidden Bagel/The Scoop is what makes Spokane so great. Love that they have a north and south side location too so you can stock up for the week or swing by before work for a breakfast sandwich; don't sleep on this spot!

Yelp
THE BEST!!!!! Best bagels in town !!! They serve sandwiches on theyre yummy bagels , and of course bagels to go with.... The staff is excellent as well ....
google avatar

Yelp
I gave Hidden Bagel 5-stars as it is perhaps the best in Spokane and the closest to a 'New York' bagel that we have. I was told that these bagels, for the most part, are not cooked in water, as they are conserving water and not dumping out gallons and gallons of it. Instead, they are steamed, dried and baked. Somehow boiled and hand rolled bagels taste a little better. A friend of mine in Portland who has a bagel cart hand forms and water cooks his bagels. There is a difference. I need to go back to Hidden Bagel and have an everything bagel with egg, bacon and cheese. I highly recommend that you make the trip up to W 25th and try a few of there bagels with schmear or sandwiches or both.

Yelp
After establishing The Scoop as one of Spokane's go-to ice cream spots, Jennifer and her team shifted their focus to bringing east coast style bagels to Spokane with Hidden Bagel, and I'm so glad they did. These bagels reminded me of the ones from my childhood while growing up in Brooklyn. From the crunchy exterior to the fluffy interior, the first bite hit me felt like a wave of nostalgia. We had the chance to try their everything and plain bagels and I have to say, they were everything but plain. Even though I over-toasted our first batch, these bagels maintained their airy consistency. What impressed me most was that each bite was packed with that "bagel-y" flavor - you know, that hard to describe slightly sourdoughy and kind of yeasty taste... whatever that flavor is called, these bagels have it and I'm all about it. All in all, I highly recommend these bagels for anyone who likes an east coast style bagel and I'm certainly looking forward to trying everything else on the menu myself.

Yelp
My wife and I dropped by for a bagel fix and were not disappointed. A blueberry French toast bagel and a bacon/cheddar bagel were the choices of the day and both were fresh and excellent. There are many choices of bagel types and schmears to put on them. They also do bagel sandwiches that others purchased and looked really good from afar. The coffee options at the moment are pretty limited as latte style drinks aren't yet on the menu. I will say that the drip coffee was outstanding. It was strong with absolutely no bitter aftertaste that I often associate with the green and white mermaid logo. Whatever they use, its good quality. Milk, cream, sugar, etc is self deployed at the small island in the lobby. The place shares the space with 'The Scoop' ice cream shop as it's owned by the same person. Inside you'll find just a couple of small tables on the ice cream side of the joint. Outside there were several tables that were mostly covered in the morning shade of the trees. This was a fun stop and glad we made it. We'll definitely be back now that we know it exists (thanks Yelp community).

Yelp
Product is super tasty. Interior is poorly ventilated and dingy. Prices are off the rails at $3 for most plain bagels and $10 for a simple breakfast sandwich.

Yelp
Honestly, Spokane has needed a place like this! The owner is sunshine and bagel magic, the atmosphere is adorable, and the bagels are top-notch. The bagel shop is open from the morning to the early afternoon, and is attached to the famous Scoop ice cream shop on the south hill. Enter through the same door as the Scoop, and you can't miss the bagel counter and the smells coming from those ovens! The bagels have a beautiful chew, The crumb is bubbly and gorgeous, and the outside is somehow crispy and chewy at the same time. The owner even traveled to New Jersey to learn the bagel making process the right way. You can tell, as I bake myself, that the fermentation process is slow and it really shows in the product! The crew dances together beautifully filling orders and seem really happy, which makes for a really pleasant environment. There is an adorable little window so if you place your order and sit outside you can pick up when they call your name. After visiting with friends, I had to pick up some extra bagels to bring home because they were that good. Do yourself a favor, and stop by when you can. Next time friends are in town, I plan to pick up a dozen and some house made schmear so breakfast is ready to go.

Yelp
I love this quaint little bagel shop that is doing BIG things! The cream cheese game is strong here, do not expect a run of the mill Philadelphia cream cheese packet here friend! I'm a sucker for their cheddar bacon bagel that will fill you up without making you leave feeling heavy and lethargic. The staff always looks like they enjoy busy rushes and have fun in the back area. Families flock for their breakfast and return at night for an evening trip to The Scoop. The price is great for what you get in regards to a bagel and cream cheese, their breakfast sandos are delicious and amazing, some people may be uncomfortable with the starting $10 price point. All in all, a very fun bagel shop that Spokane should celebrate having in such a great neighborhood!

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood spot to grab a morning meal. Bagels are flavorful all the way through, chewy exterior but soft inside. None of those dense flavorless bagels here where the flavor is only on the outside of the top! Hearty bagel sandwiches or just a well-flavored bagel like blueberry French toast or pumpernickel with a schmear of your choice. It takes a bit of a wait on a Saturday morning, but is def worth it.
google avatar

Deanna B.

Yelp
Hidden bagel makes, hands down, the BEST bagels in Spokane area. They are crispy on the outside. Soft on the inside and taste amazing. Every flavor I've had is great. My favorites are Asiago, Cheddar Pickle Ranch, and Jalapeño Cheddar. My fav schmears (cream cheese) are roasted garlic and scallion. I thought I had eaten good bagels before but these are the BEST. I can't even eat other ones now. Trust me and grab a friend and RUN, don't walk, to get yourself some bagels. SO good!!! ‍ They even have a great staff that clearly enjoy being there and a wonderful owner, Jennifer.

Yelp
Awesome bagel and awesome customer service Great joke in the wall small business Love the breakfast sandwiches

Yelp
Delicious bagels! Can't wait to go back. Very friendly service as well. My avocado toast bagel was loaded with fresh ingredients.
google avatar

Max C.

Yelp
I got the Lox of Moxie on a jalapeño cheddar bagel with regular cream cheese and it was better than I imagined! I've been wanting to try this place for a little bit now and I am so glad I did. Service was nice and super fast! In and out no problem. The inside had a really good vibe and the location of the place is very fitting. I want to make this place a regular stop of mine and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Looking forward to returning to Hidden Bagel to taste more of their bagel flavors. Bestie and I went for bagelwiches on a Saturday morning. It was pretty busy, with a 20 minute wait to order at the counter and then nearly as long for our sandwiches. The sandwiches were tasty and we enjoyed them in their small outdoor seating area. In the same building as The Scoop!
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Would love to see more indoor seating, but overall a great hidden gem on the South Hill. Workers were kind and friendly & service was fast!
google avatar

Kyle L.

Yelp
Some places aren't worth waiting in line for...this is not the case at Hidden Bagel. The bagel sandwiches were on a whole other level. Best bagels in Spokane!

Kenzie A.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for breakfast one day and it was absolutely delicious. I got the rosemary bagel and I can't stop thinking about it. 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Lois B.

Yelp
This was the best veggie sandwich I've had in years! Also, the cinnamon-raisin bagel was the best I've ever had. This place is definitely worth seeking out!
google avatar

Natasha O.

Yelp
Yum, yum, yum! Just driving by, this would be easy to miss. It shares the same space as Scoops. So, easily a 2 stops in one if you come for lunch. I had the Loxi Moxi and my husband had the grinder. Both were fabulous. The staff is quite friendly and helpful. I would come here again! Lots of fresh bagel choices and schmears. Not an extensive menu of sandwiches, but neither of us were disappointed!
google avatar

Mackensie N.

Yelp
The bagels were for sure the best in town, super good. I have tried the loxie moxie and the BEC. The pickle cheddar bagel was interesting and wasn't too much, but I thought the jalapeno cheddar was better. It is always my go to. The bacon cheddar bagel was okay, just a bit too much with the BEC sandwich though. I probably wouldn't order it again on the sandwich. The reason why Hidden Bagel doesn't get 5 stars in my book....... is because the open at 8am.... People who have to get to work earlier than that could never go. I just can't comprehend how a bagel place wouldn't be open at 7am during the week. Also, all the night shift nurses and health care workers get off at 6/7am, so by not opening until 8am I am afraid that they are missing a big crowd. Also every single time I have gotten there at 7:45am, there's already like 2-3 customers waiting outside in the cold..... I definitely don't feel like money would be lost or hours would be wasted if they opened at 7am or 730am.

Yelp
Delicious! I got confused at first since it shares a home with The Scoop ice cream, but was glad I found my way. Plentiful choices of bagels and cream cheese, plus sandwiches and drinks. My little family of 3 shared the blueberry French toast bagel with sweet orange schmear and the Asiago bagel with pesto schmear. Perfect! And had my toddler calling the cream cheese "bagel frosting" (he's not wrong). A small parking lot but a lot of street parking. Will come again!
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
We really love this neighborhood bagel shop! So happy they've expanded from a tiny hallway for pick up only to having space inside and out to hang. You know it's good when there's always a line and your favorite flavor is sold out if you come too late! Despite the line, always friendly, always fast. Love the fun schmear flavors too, like pesto. Bagel sandwiches are delish and it makes me so happy there's a veggie sausage patty for them
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Absolutely love this area of town. I'm familiar with the Scoop and so it was so great to see them sharing the same space. I stopped up on a Saturday morning, Yelp Community Experience and on my way back to Missoula. Boyeeee, it was busy, line out the door and to the street. That's when you know it's good. I waited 45 minutes, and it didn't disappoint. They have a full list of fresh bagel flavors and smears, I tried the blueberry French toast bagel with plain smear, I have never had a bagel so fresh, so flavorful, so decedent and of course loaded with smear. I opted for a cold brew from RoastHouse, bold and strong coffee. Took another BFT bagel to go a rosemary and salt, super tasty. Order came up quick. Weather was great. I'll be back Spokane and definitely for more bagels..

Yelp
Hello authetic bagel! Legit and tasty bagels with texture and flavor. The right amount of gluten chewness married to a fluffy core. Forget sunday brunch this is your new hangover cure :). I tried the grinder which was basically an italian sub in between a bagel. The flavors and textures of the salty and tangy ingredients were absolutely mouthwatering. As far as im concerned there are no other bagel sandwitches in inland nw. I can't wait to try the other options.
google avatar

Lindsey Jo W.

Yelp
WOW WOW WOW. I'm so glad this one lived up to the hype and photos I saw because when we stopped by there was a line out the door! We were not in a hurry so we decided to wait it out and the line moved at a steady pace. I absolutely loved both bagels we got! We tried The Grinder and the open face Pizza Bagel. I love read wine vinegar so The Grinder was perfect for me and my fiance gobbled up the Pizza Bagel so fast - I still got a bite though and I was IMPRESSED. There isn't a ton of seating and some sandwiches are a little messy for a grab n go so plan accordingly! We visit family in Spokane often and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Amazing bagels and shmears. My favorite is the cheddar pickle ranch bagel with dill pickle cream cheese. Everyone is so sweet and the location is adorable.
google avatar

May K.

Yelp
Very energetic fun cute place!! Love the energy of staff members! It's a hidden jam in South hill.
google avatar

Alfredo C.

Yelp
What kind of bagel place closes at noon on a Saturday... prime brunch time? Bagels are decent. A bit on the pricey side for the quality but they're decent.
google avatar

Jessy I.

Yelp
I cannot contain my excitement about Hidden Bagel being open! Hubby surprised me by pre-ordering a couple of Everythings and a couple of Plains. These bagels were absolutely glorious! The crusty outside (but not too crusty) and the soft, chewy inside create the most delicious bagel. We made sandwiches out of ours, but all they really need is a shmear of cream cheese! Already awaiting the next time we can order!!
google avatar

Jon E.

Yelp
Bagels are awesome! Service is outstanding. I love supporting local. So happy I discovered them.

Jack R.

Yelp
My visit to Kendall on Wednesday, August 9th was VERY disappointing. On arrival at around 8:45 AM the two women were engaged in conversation that went on a bit longer than I felt was professional to greet the only customer in the store. One young lady became engaged in her I pad and curtly told me only 3 sesame bagels were available when I asked for 6. I left the store very unhappy with the whole $36.00 transaction. On arrival home I began bagging the individual bagels. I am used to some char on the "everything bagel but these were simply burned. I have enjoyed their product since opening but this experience has me reconsidering my options.

Yelp
We love this place. Great bagels and cream cheese. Tasty breakfast sandwiches. Friendly staff. Give them a try.
google avatar

Rich G.

Yelp
Tried this bagel place out via Yelp Elite invite. I've been to The Scoop before but did not know that Hidden Bagel is also within the Scoop store. I tried out their most expensive sandwich that is a open faced salmon smear along with a cold brew coffee. Having grown up in NYC I know what a good bagel tastes like and this bagel was no different than if I was back in Bayside, NY ordering from one of my favorite bagel places. Both the owner (Jennifer) and the staff was very friendly and it was a busy day there having to wait on line for 15+ minutes (but one can pre-order and pick up too). I'll check out this place again for sure!
google avatar

Larry S.

Yelp
I'm generally not a bagel person, as I tend to find them dense and flavorless....but The Hidden Bagel was so worth the visit. Bagels were very tasty and fresh. Makes me rethink what a bagel should be. Service was fantastic. Very friendly and they made awesome recommendations when asked. Cold brew coffee was a perfect addition to a bacon cheddar bagel.

Emily K.

Yelp
The food is spot on. Fresh, fast, filling. The staff lacks warmth towards their customers, but displays great teamwork with fellow associates. Having both their business and another business in the same room makes an awkward environment for patrons to navigate. There's usually no clear line, nor a good place to wait for your order.
google avatar

MaryBeth C.

Yelp
Simply amazing!!! The staff is fantastic and food is always out of this world. You can't go wrong stopping by for a bagel.

Chloe B.

Yelp
i'm the cutest little neighborhood. the bagels were perhaps some of the best i had. the cream cheese was delish. would recommend 10000 times over.
google avatar

Jocelynne M.

Yelp
Came in here today. Hidden bagel is located in the same building as The Scoop. To start the cashier was so friendly! They had their bagel flavors and cream cheese flavors on the side which made it easy for me to read. Vegans, they have vegan "schmear"They were starting their breakfast Sandwiches. I went for the rosemary garlic breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, tomato and scallion schmear. It was sooo good!!! I highly encourage you to try this place out!
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
OMG! This new hidden gem! Opened December 2021 and is still slowly introducing new menu and drink items. The best bagel I have ever had was rosemary and sea salt toasted with sundried tomato shmear. We had to buy more bagels to take home! Can't wait to try them all!
google avatar

Jack H.

Yelp
Wow. These bagels were great. We got a dozen, all different, and all the different types of cream cheese and it was so good. Definitely a place to go for bagels!
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
I am so excited about this new shop! Just got our first order from them this morning and the bagels are legit delicious! We tried every flavor they have and couldn't pick a favorite. So excited to have this little gem in our neighborhood!
google avatar

Cesia C.

Yelp
Great customer service but bagels were not great in my opinion. I expected a fluffy bagel you could break and dip into a schmear but I found them to be very dense and they turned staled within hours. Schmears we're great but I wouldn't come back a second time for the bagels.

IL B.

Yelp
Amazing! From the cleanliness to the customer service! What a gem. Wish hours were longer!! We had the grinder Sammie's and they were 10/10!!
google avatar

Alison T.

Yelp
Hidden Bagel is a fun new addition to the South Hill! The bagels are probably the best I've ever had. We tried the cheddar jalapeño (sweet & spicy - so good!), the everything, & a plain with strawberry cream cheese and Mama Lil's cream cheese. The texture of the bagels was perfect - chewy with a little bit of crunch. The cream cheese was full of flavor. I love being able to order the day ahead to make sure what you want is available. I'm excited for the additions to the menu (did I hear bagel sandwiches? And hopefully breakfast sandos!).

Krystle A.

Yelp
Best bagels in town! Chewy, soft with tons of flavors to choose from. They also have some delicious bagel sandwiches on the menu. Going durning the week is a little easier as the lines can get pretty long on the weekends but they are worth it.

Ed H.

Yelp
It's a bagel ! Being from NYC , I hope I know a good bagel . Spokane is kind of bagel deprived , till now. Hidden Bagel knows how to make a real east coast bagel . Crisp with the right amount of chew and taste. Nice flavor on the plain and plain pumpernickel. I haven't tried the everything pumpernickel, yet. Definitely worth the trip from anywhere in the area .

Sue R.

Yelp
I love bagels and I LOVE this new spot! I try when I can to support new start up's and have now ordered a couple times from this gem and spreading the word! Great bagels and cream cheese AND great people!
