As part of an anniversary trip my wife and I were lucky enough to stay at this beautiful location. Managed by the owner and attended by a very amiable and experienced staff, the attention to every detail is their norm. We stayed with friends at a chalet with two bedrooms, full equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace and a balcony which gives you the most beautiful view of the town and the alps. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny weather that allowed us to enjoy the open temperated pool in the location. All is set for guests to relax and enjoy how comfortable the site is. We had a typical Austrian breakfast served in the pantry everyday by the hotel team and the experience to come down from your room to the chalet pantry with everything served and ready for you was using my friends words “sort of magical” The mountain air, the views and the warm setting of the Monte Styria facility and its team, would make any trip unforgettable.

A Perfect Escape at Montestyria, Marizell, Austria Last year, my wife and I had the pleasure of spending an incredibly relaxing vacation at Montestyria in Marizell, Austria, and it was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Helga Lindmoser, the host, whose attention to detail and genuine warmth made us feel incredibly special. Her dedication to ensuring each guest feels personally cared for is truly remarkable, and it's clear that she takes immense pride in making every stay memorable. The chalets at Montestyria are nothing short of spectacular. They are thoughtfully designed and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay – including a private sauna, rental e-bikes, and more. Our stay at Montestyria Mariazell over the holidays was nothing short of perfect. The chalet was warm and cozy, but what made the experience truly memorable was the thoughtful hospitality. Helga, Peter, and their team have a way of making you feel cared for in all the right ways—always present yet never intrusive. Everything about our stay felt effortless, from the welcoming atmosphere to the little touches that made each day special. It was clear that every detail had been carefully considered to create an unforgettable holiday experience. We left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to our next visit.

This place truly lives up to its 5 star rating. Located in the hills above the town, it’s a quick walk down a steep hill to the town square. The small house that is your room is furnished with everything you could ever need. While there is no restaurant, the main house is stocked with food and drink and that you can take whenever you want and pay a modest fee later. On the day of our arrival we were too tired to go into town so we chose some fancy pasta and homemade sauce which we made in our room. Breakfast is delivered each morning to your room by quiet magical elves - I don’t know how they did it. But the fresh breads, meats, cheeses, yogurts, juice and more waited for us each morning and were amazing! And your room is equipped with a fully automatic espresso machine - and the refrigerator is stocked with milk (they think of everything).||Helga and Lucas are there to provide advice and cater to your every need. Lucas picked us up at the train station on our arrival and he and Helga both gave us amazing tips for restaurants and things to do. And when we arrived back at the hotel each day, there was freshly made pastries. This is truly next level service.||Mariazel is lovely. We came in winter to enjoy the Xmas market. We also took the ski lift to the top of the mountain where we had amazing food at the Edleweisshutte and then took some sleds down (which was terrifyingly fun). There’s easy hikes right outside the hotel, too.||This hotel is an easy trip from Vienna or Salzburg and truly made our trip extra special. They have made a hotel feel both luxurious and homey at the same time. Truly a special place!!

We had a fantastic two-night stay during Easter. From the moment we drove up the small road from Mariazell center we felt very much at home. Helga, the owner, greeted us by the car, served cake accompanied by their own sparkling wine, and gave us a great introduction and welcome to our stay. ||The chalets are beautifully placed with all ameneties. You have your own sauna on the ground floor of the Chalet and access to a wonderful pool with splendid views of the Basilica. ||Breakfast is served every morning in the your chalet kitchen and should you miss anything there are to fully stocked refrigerators with food, snacks and drinks open in the reception 24/7. ||Mariazell it self is a nice little town situated around the magnificent Basilica. We attended late night mass as part of the Easter celebration. A fantastic experience with candle lights carried by the entire congregation. A truly remarkable (and cold) experience!||We will definitely be back next time we visit Styria!

The chalet hotel far exceeded our high expectations. Impeccable design and high quality furnishings, from the comfortable beds to the well-appointed kitchen to many comfortable places to lounge. Our favorite was the front porch overlooking the lovely village of Mariazell. Very quiet location. Excellent breakfast delivered at your chosen time, including gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options as needed. Quality espresso maker and coffee beans. Very helpful owner Helga and manager Lukas, who provided excellent restaurant and hiking recommendations. This region of Austria is mainly forest and not very populated so excellent hiking and biking with few people. Lovely hikes in “Austria’s Grand Canyon” just 20 minutes away by car. We very much hope to return, perhaps in the winter. This place is just waiting to be discovered but for my selfish reasons, I hope it is not! (One note -it’s on the side of the mountain, with a steep road to it. Walking to the village is quite steep but you can drive or get a ride if that is better for you. The chalets also have 3 levels so steps.). Last note - the e bikes we rented from the hotel were top quality with strong batteries - we rode a lot of vertical and didn’t come close to the end of the battery. Great trails are available from the hotel’s property.

I stayed last weekend again with some of my old friends here to relax ! The chalets are really superb with two rooms with their own baths and there is an extra sauna in each chalets ! The chalets are completely new and very comfortable ! There is a living area with an open fire place and two terraces ! In the living area , although outside there is a big table where the hosts set a perfect breakfast up for you on the requested time ! Especially in summer Mariazell has a perfect temperature for a good sleep ! Nice pool ! We got four e bikes an went one day 45km , including swimming on the Erlauflake , where the hotel has a swimming area ! Perfect staff !
