Best Chicken and Waffles at Austin Restaurants | Eater Austin

"Naturally, there are several buttermilk fried chicken and waffles options at the Texas comfort food restaurant within Ramada by Wyndham Austin South hotel. The sweet one comes with a sweet potato waffle, pecan bourbon syrup, and an orange slice. Then there’s the spicier one with chipotle honey butter and spicy candied bacon. Then there’s that sausage gravy one. For those looking for all three, yes, there’s a flight. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
1st time here. Could of been better according to the reviews i saw. Not a fan of QR service. It didn't specify the menu and the options. So, I think the price of the food vs the quality didn't add up. Food took about 30 mins. The best part was the Yellow Bird Sauce and the Dirty Fries. I think I would try it again just to give it a chance but, 1st impression wasn't a positive one. We had a BLT sandwich with dirty fries and a spicy chicken sandwich with a salad. Sweet tea and Cosmo.

Google
Everything we had here for breakfast was great. The chicken and waffles with gravy is a must! The flavor the chicken had was amazing. We sat in the red room, by the way, the vibe there was amazing. There was someone with a keyboard that did such an amazing job playing music. Truly gave it such a chill vibe as we waited for the table to be ready. Had the margarita. Also good and the fact that you can order ahead was a plus. The way we ordered the food through me off a bit but it made it easy when you have to split the bill. Def recommend coming here!

Staff were nice but the food wasn’t very good. Too salty, greasy and overfried. We just happened to be in the area and decided to give it a try. I assume they get many customers from the hotels. $50 for two plates and one waffle….

Google
Nice restaurant I’d like to thank our waitress for being so attentive to detail. Massive big point that they make cappuccinos, not to be given for granted in the US, although I would kindly suggest to change the coffee/milk ratio slightly in favour of the coffee, as it was very milky! Bravo to the chefs!

Google
I generally like this place but ... One time they pulled the slow down on us. I think it was because they offered us a high top table that had bar stool chairs. I asked if we could get a table instead. I don't like eating with my feet dangling and I wasn't feeling that good. I just wanted to sit at a normal table. We used the app to order. Then we watched as people came in, order, ate and left while we waited and waited for our food to come. I asked several times where our food was. The wait staff couldn't look me in the eyes as they told us it would be out soon . I explained that people who had come in after us had eaten and left already. I don't get it. We always tip well. We couldn't even just walk out because we had already paid. Like how petty is that? Just because I asked for a different table? I mean there were tables available, what's the problem? It was done purposely that we waited over 45 mins for our food. The manager came and said sorry but didn't offer a reason why we were given the slow down. We were offered a refund. I think that's ok but why did it get to that? Control your staff. I was about to walk into the kitchen and make my own breakfast. JK, but for reals. The staff needs training. Like if asking for for a different table triggered them I hate to see how they deal with a real problem. Food is good though. That's why we keep going back.

Google
Food with my syrup would’ve been nice. Atmosphere was great but $40 dollars for this syrup soup not it. There is no service here we got our own drinks no one checked on us after food was brought.

Google
Came here for brunch and it was absolutely delicious!!! The restaurant has a very chill vibe. We went Saturday afternoon and they had a pianist singing renditions. You will order and pay at your table, and the sever will bring out your food. Everything was prepared fresh and tasted natural. The sausage patties are handmade in house, a little spicy, but nothing overpowering. The waffles are delicious with the pecan bourbon syrup. Honestly everything that we ordered was good!!

Google
Great spot for any meal, anytime of day. Outdoor seating for better weather. Seat yourself anywhere and order from the QR code. Really good service compared to some places that have that set up. Serve yourself fountain drinks or order a cocktail from the bar..lots of great food options, including gluten free bread/buns. I really enjoyed the Burger, fries and onion rings. They even have a club in the back where they do comedy and music shows. Parking is plentiful since it's connected to the hotel nextdoor, easy to find but you can drive by it if you go too far.

Yelp
First time here for dinner. We didn't know it was connected to the Ramada. The outside decor was modern and chic. The inside was also clean with cool eclectic paintings. We self ordered via a QR code and the food came quickly. The food was above average, however it was a little too greasy for my taste and was a little overpriced.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Hideaway has HUGE portions, especially their French toast and Cornbread felt like we were served up an entire load of bread! Everything tasted good and the drinks were solid. Pretty expensive but I'd say well worth it if you're prepared to get a to go box. Service: 3/5 Friendly and quick staff, however the ordering system here is such a dealbreaker. If you want to order from your table you need to sign up for an account using your contact information. This process takes forever and is such a waste of time. Alternatively, we were told that we could order from the counter and then go back to our table. Seems like so many extra steps just to place an order dining in. Environment: 5/5 Right off of the Ramada hotel, there's tons of parking!

Yelp
Although due to my age ordering from a QR code and paying from my phone isn't fun. You do have the option of ordering at the counter. We drove about 45 min to get here and it was well worth every minute of that drive. This breakfast is by far the best one I have had since moving to Texas two years ago. The flavors pop in every bite! The French toast was light and fluffy and rich at the same time! We will be back

Yelp
Amazing service! Conveniently located next to I 35, this has got to be one of my new favorite brunch spots in South Austin. Most of the menu can be made vegan and gluten-free, so that's super cool. Brussels sprouts are to die for, I really enjoyed their eggs Benedict as well.

Yelp
A very cozy place to eat. I guess when I think of Austin this is what I imagine. People are super nice because you know Texas hospitality and then the atmosphere is very casual. The decor is very simple yet sophisticated. The food is the star here. Breakfast is decent but the sandwiches and sides that we had were just decadent the first taste of the Mac and cheese and I literally melted myself. From what I heard the BLT was great as well. My ghost pepper chicken sandwich was amazing as well. As a spice head, it wasn't spicy. It did have a good lingering heat. The onion rings, which were plenty were amazing as well. The batter uses was very herbal and just perfect. They're small and thin. The cappuccino and coffee were smooth as well and enjoyed that in a cold Austin morning. I look forward to going back!

Yelp
I'm so sad that I did not like this place. Especially because I really wanted to. The vibes are nice the inside and outside areas are cute. The pictures of the food looked so good I wanted to try it. There was even live music. But the service wasn't very good and almost non existent. There isn't a waiter. You order online through the QR code. And there's someone at the register if help is needed. My friend had a question and the lady was apparently rude to her. On Yelp I saw there was an avocado Benedict but on the Hideaway website they didn't have one. So I asked if I could customize the Benedict's they did have. I was told I can't and there's no point in doing so. So I ordered something else. And let's just say the items in the picture were really bad. I didn't enjoy any of it at all. Barely ate this and ended up throwing most of it away. The sticky biscuits were super plain and dry. The potatoes and taco shells had no flavor whatsoever. It was just overall not a good time. Three stars for the one server that gave me an extra drink though. Nicest part of my experience. And reason why the star review isn't any lower. Also, with parking, the parking lot gets full pretty fast. It's really small and on weekends they tend to get pretty busy.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite for dinner while staying at the springhill suites a short walk away. Cool little spot with a music venue on one side and the restaurant on the other. This review is only about the food, because the staff was super friendly and helpful, but the food was just a miss. I was hesitant to get a big meal as it was empty on the restaurant side. I ended up getting the chicken wings as a test to see if I'd want to get more, and was glad I didn't end up ordering anything else. I asked if they were like buffalo wings, and was told they were. However the sauce just wasn't for me. It wasn't a buffalo sauce, didn't have any heat, or really any flavor to speak of at all. It just made the wings soggy and lose any crispyness they could have had from cooking. The chicken wings were high quality nice sized wings, they were just completely unappetizing in the wet sauce that tasted like nothing. I don't know if I ordered the wrong thing or if I was right in assessing that they food just isn't worth it. I wouldn't be back if staying close by. Likely just order delivery from somewhere else if staying at the hotel next door again.

Yelp
Solid spot. For what it is, I'll gladly give it 5 stars. The food here is always consistent, the staff here is always friendly, and the location (for me) is great. Have come here a few times when friends/family come from out of town. For large-ish parties on short notice, this is a great place to eat. While some dislike the ordering approach, I appreciate the accuracy of ordering via the QR code on the table. I have ordered both ways (in person with the cashier) and via phone, and I appreciate having the option to stay seated while conversing. My parents and older relatives feel differently about the approach, haha, but it's not an issue to walk up to the counter and order. Everything I've had here is solid. It's not a hoity-toity gourmet experience, but it also doesn't pretend to be. For a solid, sit-down American fare spot, it's doing a good job and the service and location make it an easy choice for me.

Yelp
This place had good ratings, so we decided to check it out on our last day in Austin. It's located inside the Ramada and it was weird because it's set up is like if you were staying there. You can pay at the counter or order from the QR code. It did take a while for our food to arrive, so it made one of my friends anxious, since their flight was leaving soon. My friend and I agreed on the smoked salmon and the strawberry balsamic chicken and waffle. My other friend got the Hideaway breakfast. The Hideaway breakfast came with eggs, avocado, tortillas, and potatoes. It was very hearty and I got to try a little bit of it. It was pretty tasty! The smoked salmon came with black garlic cream cheese and jalapeno capers, which was unique and interesting. The chicken and waffles were nicely presented and had pickled strawberries, and maple balsamic syrup. It funny how they stuck and knife down the pieces of chicken. This dish was fantastic. The chicken wasn't dry and all the flavors complimented each other. I'm glad we were able to check this place out.

Yelp
Longtime fan of Hideaway, but this week's visit just wasn't it. I went Monday night to hear a friend play at The Hideaway Jam, which is always a good time. However, here are my complaints: 1. My sandwich was extremely dry. I ordered the Turkey BLT, subbed chicken. The toast was so dry I scraped not just the corners of my mouth eating it, but my cheeks. The inside of my mouth even stung the next morning from my mouthwash, it was that raw! I'd rather have a toasty sandwich than a limp one, but there's an art to getting it crispy on the outside without being solid and dry all the way through. The chicken was a little dry, and the bacon added to the crisp dryness. Then the aioli and avocado just made things slimy and the dry ingredients slid around as I tried to contain the fillings better the slices of unyielding bread. The Macaroni and Cheese was also dry, but the flavor was ok. The sauce was a little thin, and pooled in the bottom of the bowl. 2. The prices have gotten expensive! I know that's happening everywhere. Inflation is real. The prices are probably appropriate for the serving sizes, but the serving sizes are bigger than they need to be. You'd have to be really hungry to eat $22 worth of sandwich and mac and cheese. I hate to waste food, but I didn't finish this meal. I suppose their meals might be the right size to share, but it's rare two people really want to eat the same thing. Smaller portion sizes for lower prices might convince more people to order food. (Both my friends did not, and a majority of the event guests didn't appear to be eating.) A big order is a big commitment, and it's extra disappointing when it doesn't taste great.

Yelp
We had a mediocre experience here. The service situation was a little weird. We were informed we could have a seat in this back room area, where we ordered from a barcode. It took quite a while for anything to come out and we were kind of left alone. I like the idea of ordering from a barcode if it will increase efficiency; however, it didn't seem to and the entire experience felt really impersonal. The area we sat in was cool, which made the experience better. It looks like they have bands that come there. I liked the colors on the walls and the tables were roomy. The food was just okay. The pictures look awesome, but the taste didn't quite hit right.

Yelp
I stopped by with a friend for brunch and had high expectations based on previous reviews. Getting there was easy but parking is limited as the lot is a shared space with the Ramada. We were promptly greeted and seated, and the host informed us place is self-service. Scan the QR code to browse menu and order. No biggie until you check out to process payment - default tipping on app is set to 20% (options: 20, 22, 25) but there is a smaller button for the custom tip option. I opted for the chocolate chip waffle and a glass of mimosa. The waffle was delicious but overly dressed with whipped cream. I would have preferred the whipped cream on the side or opt to replace it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Anyhow, the ambiance was pretty simple and laid back - nothing to rave about. It's a decent spot for a quick fix meal.

Yelp
This is a counter service restaurant so you pay at the counter then find your own seats. There's no server coming around to check on you which is a bit odd. There's a separate bar area to get drinks. Other than that the food was fine (chicken was over seasoned and had no crisp) and I liked the live music. The food is very over priced for the area! The chicken and waffle was $24 not including sides or a non alcoholic drink. Probably wouldn't return.

Yelp
My friend was staying at the Ramada where Hideaway Kitchen is located, so we decided to eat here for breakfast before we started venturing out in Austin. We got there as soon as it opened at 8am and we were the only diners there for the time of our stay. Waffle Flight: Your choice of 3 different waffle toppings. They come in half portions and we chose Strawberry, Peach Cobbler, Mud Pie. The chocolate was a bit much, so we actually ended up saving that one for the end of our meal so it wouldn't overpower the rest of the waffles. Hideaway French Toast: This was not only aesthetically pleasing but the strawberry and blueberry coulis they pour on top, I could drink by the gallon. So so good and the highlight of our breakfast. Mimosa Flight: Strawberry Lemonade, Pina Colada, Pomegranate Blueberry, Hibiscus Honey. Pretty good. I like that they offer the classic mimosa flavors but also had their own specialty flavors to choose from. Breakfast here was fantastic! Everything we tried was delicious and the staff was super friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Strange place. Bar, no stools. Tables a couple of booths. Order via QR code or at counter. No way to get a drink and chill. Went back to the Marriott and ate there.
google avatar

Yelp
Self-served menu with a QR code, service was fast shortly after ordering, and the food was delicious. Brunch is a great time to go there is live music and must-try flight mimosas and chicken n' waffles.

Yelp
First impressions are everything and they do a good job here. The entryway with massive wood door is impressive and the design of building is cool to be in and around. We ordered just in time for the brunch menu that ends at 3pm and got the Migas and Huevos Rancheros. Both were in need of salt but after a sprinkling it was a delicious and filling meal made more nutritious with the house made salsas, fresh cut avocados, and bed of spring mix which we really appreciated.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast during #afrotech2023 and they did not disappoint! Everything was really good and our server was really sweet! To order your food you place everything online & pay online which was cool.
google avatar

Yelp
The restaurant has a lot of open space. You will seat yourself and order your food through the QR code. Ordering food through the QR code does not give you many options to customize and there is no option to input any additional requests. We wanted to request extra jalapeños, cheese on over medium eggs and the breakfast potatoes to be crunchy so I went to the front table to put in the request. I was told the potatoes were cooked in big batches and they couldn't make them crunchy. Chorizo Benedict Potatoes were kind of hard. Requested extra Jalapeños but only got the three you see. English muffin was barely toasted. 4/10. Food was edible. Waffle - dry, no flavor. Did not eat 98% Migas - 5.5/10. The ketchup was the hit SinceThe food was not the best. You

Yelp
Real hip spot, yummy food & friendly service! Modern eclectically funky vibe in a spot that has had various genres of food over the years. Definitely interested in coming back for more of the tasty eats! Service is a little weird-- you go in & self-seat. Order from QR scan menu at your table and they will bring your food to your table. But there's not really any "intermittent table service"... kinda European. You server your own drink refills at the soda machine, for example. But, great food & atmosphere here! Looks like there's a game room inside, too that I'll need to investigate further on a future visit!

Yelp

Yelp
Great lowkey and casual brunch place with high quality food that is well priced and huge portions. Google maps takes you to the back of the building and you have to go through an alley, but it's a lovely space with lots of outdoor seating and good interior as well. You order and pay via QR code at each table and the server will just bring out your food to the table. Brunch is everyday and ends at 3pm. We tried a variety of sweet items and some savory items, all were phenomenal so I think you probably can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Puffy pastries - light, airy, and crispy with a coating of chocolate and strawberry syrup. Plenty to share, comes with three pastries. Waffle Trio - highly recommend getting the trio to try a bunch of different flavors. There are two quarters of each flavor of the waffle, and the waffles are very fluffy and large. I tried the strawberry and cream, blueberry cheesecake, and the pecan pie, the last is my favorite. They are very decadent and topped with whipped cream and other toppings. Great to share as well since it's a large portion. Brussels sprouts - crispy and covered in a chili sauce, very tasty and a good option if you are a fan of brussels sprouts

Yelp
The service here needs some work as of recently. We love this place, it's one of our favorite spots to go get breakfast and very close by. The food is great, live music great, the atmosphere is great, but the service could use some work. I'll state the issues then offer some simple solutions. 1. First the back room could use some work, we have been directed there the last few times and it feels so disassociated with the rest of the restaurant. We have gone with a party of 5 and 6 which by no means is large. We have asked to push 2 tables together and we told no we need to go to the back. The solution to this would be to actually seat people then instead of letting them choose their space. I see plenty of groups with 2 or 3 people sitting at much larger tables that could have easily sat 6+ people. The back room also has lots of equipment such as a projector display and speakers. Live music is one of the main reasons we come here. Maybe there's a way to sync a camera and live stream the performance to the projector and speakers in the back that way it doesn't feel so disassociated with the rest of the restaurant and is more enjoyable. 2. On our last two visits servers didn't deliver everything both times. Usually this isn't a huge deal to me. The first time after waiting about 10 minutes after everyone in my party had their food. I walked up and asked them if they forgot my plate? They said they did, handed me my plate and I walked it back to our table in the back. No biggie. The second time we went the server brought almost all of our food, but missed a taco. I let her know I was missing a taco. She then proceeded to try and convince me I was wrong which was really weird and uncomfortable. I told her I would check my receipt just incase I missed it on accident. Sure enough it was there, right as I was showing it to her another waiter walked over with the taco to deliver it. I am amazed that she would rather be rude to us then just look at the order and simply count the amount of tacos that were ordered. It's not hard to say "oh ok, one sec, let me go check for you". 3. Lastly the tipping via QR code. We always tip the staff as well as the musicians. In retrospect, we are tipping them 20% to walk food over to us... they are not taking our order, boxing our food or serving our drinks, we do all that. The problem is when you order the app asks you for a tip right there. We have given good tips both times, but after issues with service both times, it makes me wonder what I am tipping for. The least they can do is be friendly to their customers. I've worked in the service industry in the past, so I feel for them. But I'm reality many austin restaurants are automating in house delivery via service robots. This place is already automated much of their other services already. Simply said, be kind to your guests and treat them with respect. Servers interact very little as is, there's no reason to treat guests as if they are an annoyance for being there. TLDR: we have visited 2 times recently and have had issues with service, such as seating arrangements, undelivered food and rude customer service. We love this place and would love for it to succeed. We think we will take a break for a bit and come back in 3 months to see if service has improved.

Yelp
A great place for brunch! The menu is extensive and everything looks amazing! The only downside is that there's not much of a view and the location is not ideal. It is also mostly self service so there's really no need to tip extra. I made the mistake of thinking it was full service and tipped more than 15% when I ordered my food via the QR code. But getting water and extra syrup myself wasn't too big of a deal. I'm totally fine with self service as long as the food is good which it was. I got the blueberry cream cheese waffles with a side of eggs and sausage. It was absolutely delicious!!! My friends food looked amazing as well. It is a bit out of the way for me but I wouldn't mind coming back to try some of their other items. It's a solid brunch place.

Debbie E.

Yelp
So I was disappointed out of the gate. It's a scan your menu and order place. The problem is , you pay up front... that means you tip upfront. I tip on SERVICE , so I didn't add a tip. Now before you get all upset -I figured I'd put cash on the table. ( I usually tip 20%). They obviously saw no tip and served accordingly. My gluten free flight was very well done. Good taste, great presentation. Wasn't a fan of the blueberry -too sweet. The chocolate chip and the strawberry cream were wonderful. My husband got the biscuits and gravy. They were good but the potatoes that came with it were hard- so hard they almost seemed raw. Location was cute. Restaurant was very clean.

Yelp
We came here after a long day at COTA. There was still a good amount of people at 8 pm here. The service was super nice. We ordered at the front, and our cashier/waitress was really friendly. My husband and I got the Cobb salad, pork belly sliders, a side of fries, the goat cheese cristoni, the corn bread, and the hot wings. My friend also got a patty melt with Mac and cheese and a side salad. She put it all on the same number, that we brought to an empty table and put the number in the middle. They brought out food to us but it was extremely slow. The food was okay. The salad was enjoyable (I needed something green after eating festival type food for 3 days straight). My husband said the wings were fine but they really weren't hot wings. The cornbread was dry. They were huge pieces, but I wouldn't get them again. My husband said the porkbelly sliders were fantastic. We didn't get our fries and goat cheese cristoni till I went up and asked about it. The fries were hot. The Goat cheese was fine. They were on these 4 thin crackers, so that was a little disappointing. Overall, it was a pretty decent place. It wouldn't be my first choice. It's not particularly fast either.

Yelp
Last day in Austin, so we decided to find a place for breakfast/brunch! Hideaway Kitchen was actually pretty close to our hotel we were checking out from, so I decided why not! Let me tell you, it was such a good idea coming here! The food was actually pretty good and I would definitely come again. When you drive up, it definitely is a discreet restaurant, the door just blends in with the surroundings. When entering, the place is actually not that big. You order at the front and bring the number to a table. I ordered the Benedict with potatoes and my bf got the salmon and rice. I actually really enjoyed the Benedict! The meat was a interesting taste, it actually gave off a very Asian taste, like a Korean bbq almost. I also got a side of Mac and cheese (which was HUGE). Mac and cheese was okay, it was too sharp for my taste. My bf's salmon and rice was pretty good, I like the pork belly that was tied into the rice! I will definitely be coming back to try out some of the other foods!

Yelp
This is a solid brunch option in Austin. Unbeknownst to me, I drive past this place daily, but have never noticed it due to the tucked away nature of the restaurant (is that why they named it Hideaway?) It is right next door to a hotel. There was a pretty long line to get in on Sunday early afternoon. The way it works is you wait in line to pay and order at the counter, and then you have to find a table and wait for them to bring you your food. I got the chicken and waffles. It was pretty good, but VERY dense. I found the sauce they placed over it to be too sweet. You can pull up their menu on their website while you are in line, but keep in mind that they also have daily specials, but you won't be able to see them until you get to the counter. There is a chalkboard next to the registers with the specials on it. There is something for everyone here. There were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try, so I will be back.

Yelp
I had never seen this restaurant before. It's located off the highway tucked into a hotel parking lot. When walking in you're immediately greeted with a sign to seat yourself and to order via the QR code. After finding the QR code hidden under the condiments carrier, I was finally able to scope out the menu. The prices were a little higher than most breakfast places I've been. I had questions about menu items but there was no one around to ask and no one ever comes to your table after seating yourself. It was odd. My friend and I decided to leave and we hopped on over to our tried and true breakfast spot.

Yelp
This place is super interesting I definitely recommend checking it out. When you first walk in it looks like the spot is a good size but as you keep walking down the long hallway you'll see that there are soooo many places to sit, it's huge! We went for brunch and the menu has a good variety. I knocked a star because their menu isn't very veg friendly. I would recommend some more vegetarian/vegan options and some more coffee options. The service was good everyone is friendly. They messed up my order but the gal that was serving us was super nice and fast about fixing it. She let me keep the other plate as well but it was too much food to finish.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing place for brunch. Found this place by searching for popular brunch places. Don't let the surrounding buildings detract from the curb appeal and character of this place. It's just perfect. Upon entering we noticed a line of folks, which you would think is a line of people waiting to be seated. Instead it's a line of folks waiting to place their order before finding a table in the open seating areas indoor and outdoor. Different concept and I must say I kind of like it better than traditional method. I ordered a Bloody Mary Cocktail along with a coffee. I also ordered up the avocado toast benedict as well as the short rib taco. We then got a number and found a nice table inside. Our cocktails arrived in a short time. The bloody mary was perfect. Complete with two strips of bacon and a celery stalk. The flavor was spot on. Perfect kick to it and good to the last drop. The food was truly the star of the show. While I wasn't a fan of the cherry tomatoes on the eggs benedict, they were easy to remove and didn't take away from the perfectly cooked eggs or the avocado toast. Hollandaise sauce was also spot on. The smashed red potatoes were also stars of their own. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Then came the short rib taco which was also a star by itself. Seasoned perfectly and flavor that will knock your socks off. Lucky for me I wasn't wearing socks. As if all that wasn't enough this place also has entertainment. We got to enjoy the warm sounds of a gentlemen playing keyboard and vocals. Again this place is it. It has top notch service, amazing food, and great atmosphere. I would definitely come back here again and again.

Yelp
Came to Hideaway at the recommendation of a friend while in town. When you first get there, you seat yourself and scan the QR code. I ordered a Mimosa flight and the Honey Butter Chicken biscuits with a side of egg. The mimosas were ok. Couldn't really tell the flavors apart after tasting the first one, but they were def good on champagne. Service wasn't really too present due to the whole QR code thing, but when I did interact with them they seemed pleasant. It's also a nice looking place, spacious both indoors and out, with a side room full of games and other activities.

Yelp
Everything was so good and we came in hangry so it was good to eat delicious food. Service was amazing, food tasted even better! I loved it, also best chips and queso I've ever had! The restaurant had great music and the seating was nice and open as well!

Yelp
The waffle flight is such a great concept. And it was mostly well done, the waffles themselves weren't. They were really lightly cooked and soft. Judging by the picture on the mandu website that you order from, I'd have expected them to be brown and crispy. I would have ordered them that way if I had any idea that they wouldn't be. Might be a nice addition to the menu if they offered a choice: Soft & Light, Golden Brown & Crispy or Dark & Crunchy. This place is otherwise a nice surprise nestled between two out-of-the-way hotels. Next time I'll go with the Chorizo Benedict.

Yelp
Hideaway Kitchen tries hard. But this dinner is hard to ignore. I ordered the fried chicken dinner. I subbed the potato salad for Mac and cheese. I also subbed the biscuit for corn bread. My chicken was undercooked. Still noticeably pink in the middle. I was hungry so I ate the Mac and cheese and cornbread. Both were kind of basic. But the manager only charged me for the Mac since the kitchen messed up.

Yelp
I don't care how good any restaurant is, the service and staff play a huge role in how I rate a restaraunt. The concept was cool, but if the quality and speed of the restaurant can't keep up it won't last. The atmosphere was grungy and felt dirty and it was connected to a cheapy radisson in. It took OVER AN HOUR to get a meal for two people and cost over $50. I won't be back. I had to ask the staff twice how much longer my food would take. I didn't recieve any type of notice that it would take so long or ANY empathy. Don't waste your time OR money.

Yelp
This place was definitely different from a experience standpoint! The food was fresh and bomb! No complaints there. However there are no servers. You have to go up and order your own food and drinks which I had never experienced before from a sit in restaurant!! But hey if that works. Food was good I had the chicken and waffles. My waffle was the specialty Pecan Pie waffle! Soooo good and definitely taste like a pecan pie.. The ambiance was cool. We went around lunch time there were a bunch of empty tables but no one cleaning them so we had to ask for a table to be cleaned which they were able to do within about 10 mins of arriving. Overall experience wasn't bad but definitely a first for me....

Yelp
A little late with my review but here it is . First off five stars for the food ! The food came out hot and it was delicious. This was probably my best banana waffle ever . It was the only thing I tried since I wasn't as hungry. But it was a good size portion . If I could give a separate smoking of stars for cleanliness and wait times it would be 3 stars. The restaurant was very dirty. The majority of the tables were covered with food left behind and sticky . I asked someone a few times to help Clean and was ignored so we cleaned up a table ourselves . The wait for food was about an hour and a half. The staff at the order station was nice and said it would be about 30 minutes . But it was much longer.

Yelp
The food options here are great. The quality of the food is even better you go and sit down, scan the barcode and order the service is really good as well. The ambience is actually pretty cool to be attached to a hotel, but has separate parking so it's worth a try.

Yelp
This place is next to a hotel which we were confused about at first but it was easily found if you keep driving in. Plenty of parking. They have seat-yourself style tables inside and outside where you take your number on a stick (after ordering) and wait at your table for your order to come out. Water and coffee was also self serve. There was live music inside which was rlly enjoyable but on that day it was kind of cold inside so we sat outdoors. We got prime rib Benedict, duck tacos, and waffle flight to share. Prime rib was probably the best - meat was tender; enjoyed it with some hot sauce. The potatoes were very large we didn't finish. Tacos were very unique with a lot of toppings and almost savory sweet in flavor. I rlly liked it with the orange sauce it came with. Waffle flight was okay. Very sweet and basic probs more for kids to enjoy - not a standout.

Yelp
We stopped in here our first morning in Austin for a quick bite. He got the waffle flight, which came with your choice of 3 waffles. So he picked the lemon poppyseed & raspberry (lemon curd, raspberry coulis, lemon poppyseed crumble), the blueberry cheesecake (cream cheese icing, fresh blueberries, blueberry coulis, shortbread crumble), & the peaches & cream (peach coulis, fresh peaches, vanilla cream icing, shortbread crumble). They all looked so delicious! I got the tofu taco (scrambled tofu with kale, avocado, roasted corn, & black bean salsa). Mine was small but definitely filling! We also got a carafe of mimosas which hit the spot!

Yelp
The drinks are really good however I'm rating it one star due to the chorizo being extra burnt and finding a hair in the dish. I would just come here for drinks.

Yelp
Thank you Yelp and thank you yelpers. You did not steer me wrong. There's a reason why there's a line wrapping around the entrance on Sundays: Brunch here is fantastic. Or you can have breakfast. Your choice (but go with the brunch). Our sons had the nutella waffle and chocolate cone waffles and they scarfed those down. I guess they Mmms were indication that the waffles were really something else. We both had the bacon jalapeno eggs bennies - the hollandaise sauce was so good. The jalanos were not stupid hot but they did provide some heat which balance out the dish. Oh and that thich bacon - sooo good. Our nepher ordered biscuit chicken sandwich and seemed to enjoy it as he didn't speak the entire time he was chowing down. He said it was out of this world (in flavor and portion as he ended up only finishing half). Loved that the coffee (drip) and water are all self serve and that you can't sit until you place your order. Ohhh and if you're in the mood, get the pink lemonade mimosa-superb! We left this place feeling happy and full. HIdeway made our Sunday much more enjoyable.

Yelp
It was a Hideaway indeed, sandwiched between hotels. Food was scrumptious with live music, wait time for food is 45 mins which was a little much but well worth it!

Yelp
Absolutely not what I was expecting it was AMAZING!! It was my second visit and it was even better this time than the last. The waffle flight is the best breakfast experience I've probably ever had. You get a hearty shareable serving of 3 waffle flavors to sample. All of the offering are to die for. You won't go wrong with selecting any of them! For those of us who enjoy drinking out breakfast calories as well... the mimosa flight is a must. Don't be discouraged by the mini mugs they are the perfect portions. The migas and hideaway breakfast were also super tasty but I would definitely go back for the waffles and mimosas. There was also live music while we were there which was a great touch. I'm not sure if they take reservations but you order everything via a QR code on your table so the service is pretty efficient. A must stop any time I return to Austin.

Yelp
Just here to say that the food is still wonderful and now I think my new love is the sweet potato hash!! I never would have thought to add Brussels to a hash?!?!

Yelp
Cute little find here! Seems like a great place to bring your dog on a nice morning for breakfast/lunch. Stopped by while we were in town and everything we had was fantastic! Love that you order at the table and a runner brings everything to you when it's ready. No need to be angry about bad service ever! Would definitely return.
