Hideaway, an upmarket café from the people behind exceptional fine dining spot Hide, just so happen to do one of the best rolls in London. It’s sweet, rich, and for top-tier lobster its £18 price tag is kind-of reasonable. "Hideaway is the equally bougie little sister of Hide, a glorious Mayfair restaurant that runs like clockwork. It’s also one of the best fine dining experiences we’ve ever had, so to say we were a bit excited to try this lobster roll would be like saying a dog is a bit excited when you shout WALK-IES! We were hyped, very hyped, and it did not disappoint. The roll is perfect - soft but with a good tear, and it’s just a hint sweet to really let the sweetness of the lobster take center stage. And that lobster is top-tier. "Hideaway is, much like its glorious fine dining big sister Hide, pricey. But importantly it’s also worth it. The specialty coffee is hand roasted. The éclairs are rich, the croque madame is a soft, crispy cheese fest, and the pizzas come topped with quality things like truffle and wild thyme. The £22 lobster roll is the real star of the show at this Mayfair cafe though. "Located away from the high street view in Streatham, the name is truly fitting as many locals have passed by it for years without knowing what’s going on inside. Open for nearly a decade now, the venue showcases live jazz, soul and funk while also serving great food. Hideaway has an extremely varied monthly lineup, including the regular Monday night jam session and a Sunday comedy club, besides anything from David Bowie tribute evenings and Cuban salsa evenings to reggae nights. Laughter and dancing aside, the kitchen also serves up an array of simple meals such as pan-fried salmon, rainbow vegetable skewers and chargrilled jerk chicken." - Riaz Phillips
