Yelp
My dad owns his own coffee roasting business and from him, I have learned a lot about what makes good coffee, well, good.
While my husband and I were in Asheville on our honeymoon, we looked around to find a local coffee place that knew what good coffee was and we found it at High Five Coffee.
We arrived a little bit later in the day, right around closing, and I usually get drip coffee at local places because I believe that's the best way to REALLY taste the quality of beans, but instead we got Americanos since the drip was out for the day.
Just a little tip for any other customer who possibly reads this review-- to avoid that "bitter" coffee taste, you need to let your coffee cool just a TINY bit. Once it cools for even like 1 minute, you will be able to taste the natural undertones.
If you're concerned about bad coffee places, please know that your cup of coffee is usually only bad if it either 1) tastes like charbucks-- I mean Starbucks-- or 2) has "vanilla bean" or "Carmel" flavor to the beans (because that means the place you're at is cheap and flavors their burnt beans). It is NOT a bad coffee place if you don't have the option to add flavored creamer to your cup or if your drink is too strong. Duuuhhhh.
HIGH FIVE COFFEE IS QUALITY COFFEE. If you don't like the taste, it may be because you are accustomed to drinking crap coffee :'(
From a coffee snob who prefers paying an extra buck or two for an AMAZING coffee versus less for char, High Five Coffee is grand and the best coffee we had in the area.
Also the staff seemed pretty freaking cool to me
We will be back in the morning for one last cup before we leave town but, we WILL be back when we return to AVL
