"The bacon-cheddar breakfast sandwich at Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen (with locations in Inglewood, View Park, Eagle Rock, and DTLA) keeps things simple, a lesson that whoever designed LA's freeway interchanges could stand to learn. The fried egg is picture-perfect, the drizzle of hot sauce is spicy but not overpowering, and the cheese has been baked right onto the glossy brioche bun. "The Hilltop Coffee crew has four locations in Inglewood, Eagle Rock, Downtown, and the original in View Park/Windsor Hills. It’s from the same crew that owns Somerville and partners with actor and producer Issa Rae at the cafe. The coffee is always great and pairs perfectly with the bangin’ breakfast sandwich with cheddar cheese, bacon, and spicy mayo. "With three locations across LA, Hilltop Coffee is a great spot to procrastinate on a laptop while sipping an iced latte. Issa Rae is a fan, too, which is why she helped open a location in her hometown right next to Inglewood City Hall. The massive split-level cafe is bright and airy, complete with lots of comfy booths, large communal tables, and motivational quotes on the wall. Hilltop is open from 8am to 3pm, serving espresso drinks, hearty bowls, and an especially good breakfast sandwich filled with bacon, cheddar cheese, a fried egg, and a nice drizzle of hot sauce all on a brioche bun.
