The Food is “not made with love and care”. It is pretty much “below average” in terms of Freshness and Taste. I picked up couple of items for Lunch and I was truly disappointed. The ”Chilly Paneer” (Cheese Cubes cooked in Himalayan Sauce) was stale and it seems they threw some fried Cheese cubes on already made Sauce. The portions were also really small ( please see pictures of the actual Quantity provided). It is barely enough for 1 person. I do not recommend this Restaurant for authentic Indian/Himalayan Cuisine. I have been a Customer but the Quality and Care of the Restaurant has deteriorated so much since it’s opening that “ I will never be going back to this Restaurant ever again.

Google
Ok Gringos… this place ROCKS! It’s super casual, very friendly, reasonably priced and the food is DELICIOUS! Each entree you order you tell them how hot you want the dish on a scale of 1 to 10. I like spicy, and we got level six on everything. It was perfect go higher if you dare. Bottom line, check this place out, it’s family run. The three guys in the picture run the show and I love this place.

Tried Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine in Carlsbad recently and overall had a great experience! The **lassi** was excellent—refreshing, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. The **choila** really stood out with its bold, smoky flavors and tender meat—definitely a highlight of the meal, however a spice level 7, it was intensely hot! If you're not used to that level of heat, I highly recommend asking for a 3 or 4 instead. The **chicken tikka**, on the other hand, was decent but lacked that extra punch or char you’d expect. We also tried the momo (dumplings)-they were juicy and well-cooked, but the flavor felt like it was missing a layer, maybe a more robust dipping sauce or spiced filling could have elevated it. Service was friendly and the atmosphere cozy. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving authentic Nepali flavors, just be mindful of the spice scale!

Google
Best Himalayan food I’ve had in a while. This joint knows how to spice things up and add lots of flavors . Their cilantro garlic naan was amazeballs. The soups were incredible. We tried the a little bit of everything and nothing disappointed .

Google
Small place, it was busy, food took 20 minutes to come, and only 1 guy was taking care of everything. At least 3 employees in front should be there to cover. Anyways, the guy was doing his best, but the food was at par. Palak paneer was good. Mushroom masala was like boiled mushrooms in tomato cream gravy. Chutney with veg momos was not even close to Nepali momos Chutney. I would say if they can hire more staff in front and kitchen, then it would be better.

Google
I placed a pick-up order from this restaurant and was really disappointed with the food. I got samosas, paneer tikka masala, butter chicken, and a couple of garlic naans. The naan and paneer tikka masala were just okay. The samosas were undercooked, and the butter chicken was dry, overcooked, and the curry itself was unappetizing. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend getting food from here to anyone.

Google
Well spiced Himilaian and Indian food. Sauces were a bit runny. Momo was bland even with the sauce. Naan were delicious but unfortunately burnt on the bottoms. One server for the whole restaurant managed to get our food out quickly.

Google
Ordered the lamb tikka masala, number 5 in hotness (1 to 10) was prefect. Not too spicy, perfectly flavored. Garlic cilantro naan was really good with it. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Best chicken tiki masala I've had in years! Their garlic naan bread was so crisp and perfectly made

Yelp
I have seen this shop many times on Sundays when I visit the church nearby. They were open on Christmas Eve, and served an amazing Lamb Tandoori Curry with Basmati Rice. I recommend their curries if Indian food is new to you, as it is yogurt sauce based. I also recommend the mango lassi, which is a blended mango yogurt drink. The place is rich with artistry found in the Himalayan region, or in other words, the place has good vibes. Looking forwards to coming again.

Yelp
Only great things to say here! I was so happy to find this place in Carlsbad after eating at their other restaurant in Encinitas many times (Everest Himalayan Cuisine). This location is closer to me and just as decisions. The vegetable coconut curry is my absolute FAVORITE! I can't get enough! My boyfriend loves the Saag Paneer. I've only gotten takeout from this location, but I'm sure the service and ambiance are just as wonderful as their Encinitas location.
google avatar

Kris Q.

Yelp
Probably the best Indian food in the Village! We've had chicken and lamb dishes, samosas, and naan...all of which were cooked perfectly. The chicken in Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken was moist; the lamb in the Saag just melted in your mouth! I haven't dined in yet, but the to-go service is timely and the people are very nice!

Yelp
A delicious spot for Indian cuisine located near the village in Carlsbad. Tried a delicious chicken soup- fresh, flavorful and will definitely keep me coming back for more. Also enjoyed Tikka masala, garlic naan and rice. It wasn't busy on a cold Friday night so the service was fast and attentive. Love this within walking distance to my new home.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious there is a huge selection to choose from and it will fill you up.

Yelp
We came here prior to a glass blowing class so that we could be nice and ready for what was to come. Our server recommended chicken korma, a dish we had never tried before. We also got vegetable samosas, butter chicken, garlic naan, and the herbal naan. Everything was scrumptious! They were served in large portions for sharing, too. My girlfriend had the mango lassi and she said it was a 4/5. I tasted it and it reminded me of yakult lolol. There's plenty of searing and the decor is fun. I would def recommend!

Yelp
Discovered this local gem and everything was so delicious. The moment we walked in, it smelled so good and we knew we were in for a flavorful meal. We enjoyed paneer tikka masala, butter chicken, chicken mono, and matcha ko takari (salmon). If you haven't tried it, GO!
google avatar

Shane W.

Yelp
Wow, so delicious. The flavors coming out of this kitchen is beyond expectation. We order vegetable samosas, Butter chicken, vegetable biryani and garlic herbal naan. Everything was amazing and enough for leftovers the next day. This will be our go to place from now on!!! Himalayan Sherpa, Don't change a thing!!!!

Yelp
Came as a party of 2 on Saturday at 2 PM. The food was incredible!! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. There was no wait and there was a parking lot behind the restaurant. Vegetable Samosa 8.5/10; Crispy exterior and the seasoning was delicious! Paired with the chutney was amazing. Himalayan Balti 8/10; This dish is packed with a medley of fresh vegetables cooked in a flavorful, aromatic sauce. Portion size is great for sharing! The garlic naan paired with this was spectacular. Lamb Tikka Masala 8/10; lamb was tender and the sauce was perfect with the rice

Yelp
This is a hidden gem of a restaurant a couple of blocks off the main area of Carlsbad Village Drive with easy street parking--the perfect place for a delicious meal after a day at the beach. Wasn't super crowded for dinner on a Saturday night, so a good alternative to the sunset crowd. They also have takeout available. The ambiance is casual, with booth and table seating, very clean. It's clearly a family run business which takes pride in its food. Service is a bit slow, but friendly. We had the chicken tikki masala, the salmon masala and the plain and garlic herb naan with basmati rice--came out hot and so flavorful with a 4/10 spicy just as we requested. They have a fairly large menu, so there is something for everyone. Next time I will try the sizzling tandoori chicken the next table ordered--smelled and looked delicious! Definitely give this place a try!

Yelp
Soooo delicious! We are very picky and this is the best Indian food in North County! We had butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, and Palek paneer. All dishes were delicious!
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Excellent food. Each dish was exquisite. Tried the palak paneer and chicken tikka masala with a side of roti. Surprisingly the basmati rice was a bit dry, but everything else was full of flavor. Easy street parking and friendly service. The place was relatively empty on a Saturday eve, which was good news for us, but hopefully doesn't mean this restaurant is at any risk of survival. Prices are also fair.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the Salmon Tandoori. It was awesome. It was clean and convenient. I'll be back to explore the menu.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
I wish I could rate the food separate from the service. Five stars for the food. We've eaten at many Indian restaurants over the years and I'd have to say that our food was one of the best we've ever had. Portion sizes were perfect and shrimp was tender and tasted fresh. Plenty of meat in both dishes. Six extra large shrimp in mine. The place was very clean, including the bathrooms. Prices were good. Our dishes were in the $15-16 range (as of June 2024).
google avatar

Lai M.

Yelp
The food is one of the best we have tried. The ambience would benefit from major improvements. The overall service is average I would like to see more beverage and drink options, but it does cater to must of my needs I will come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
What a find. Easy parking as it was located just beyond the main downtown hub of action. Skilled and friendly staff. Ordered the tandoori salmon. It came on a sizzling, steaming platter, with four large and beautifully seared pieces of salmon, along with carrots, cabbage, onion and peppers. Was hands-down the best we've ever had. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Aloo Gobi was also absolutely delicious (cauliflower and potatoes curry). Finally, the plain naan was cooked to perfection. We can't wait to return.

Yelp
Amazing food in a place you wouldn't expect. Made us a lover of this type of food. Great people

Yelp
TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... I've dined here several times now. It's becoming more and more popular at prime times, but shockingly slow otherwise. Get it to go or dine-in... you can't go wrong. The Onion Naan is always first, I really struggle to avoid the mushroom Tikka Masala (it's that good), vegetable soup, momos... the list goes on and on. A HUGE menu, a good wine selection, and super service. Prices are very good, and there are no parking issues at this end of Carlsbad Village. Recommended!

Yelp
Decided to try this spot based on the reviews. We were seated right away but they got pretty busy as the night progressed. Service was really slow bc it seemed there were only 2 servers covering the whole restaurant. Food is just ok. Samosa and chutneys are bland, vegetable momos are decent. Paneer tikka was average. It was odd to get malai kofta where the kofta was cut up already into pieces. Garlic naan was good, but again nothing amazing. Overall the food was not at the level the reviews made it seem.

Jessica O.

Yelp
It was delicious. Good sized portions and spicy authentic. I would order everything again!

Yelp
Great service and of course the food and drinks. Prices were reasonable, location and weather was beautiful

Yelp
Chicken and shrimp masala were outrageous. The naan out of this world. This is a gem. Please visit! It will blow your mind.
google avatar

Christina G.

Yelp
Wow. Best Mushroom Masala I've ever had. It's so hard to find good Indian food. But this place went above on beyond on flavor. Definitely would come back in a heartbeat. So delicious!

Lauren J.

Yelp
Way good. Ate there on Thanksgiving. Ambrosial onion nan and excellent butter chicken. Also had the mango lassi. Mom had shrimp saag. We got it to go. Was hard to tell if the restaurant was open as one of the signs said "closed" and one wasn't working, but fortunately I called. Lots of parking. Young man at the counter was really nice. Cute inside, but we had one person in the party that doesn't like Himalayan food so we didn't get to sit and eat. Definitely recommend, still dreaming of that buttery spongey moist Nan and that delicious sauce. Best version I've ever had!
google avatar

Kris S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! MUST TRY! my family is Pakistani and I've had quite a bit of south East Asian food, this is definitely by far some of the best I have ever had. Absolute must try

Mark R.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of enjoying this great restaurant today. Everything we ordered was exceptional including the salmon tikka marsala and garlic cilantro naan! Wow!! Great combination! Recommend this restaurant to anyone who is seeking exceptional Indian cuisine* Enjoy!
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Fantastic and exceeded expectations! We had the cherry/almond/fennel naan and it was lovely.

R R.

Yelp
Really great tasting food at reasonable prices. The vegetable Pakora, Lamb Vindaloo, Saag Paneer and the Fish Tikka Masala were excellent. The kitchen was very good about making the dishes to the spice level we requested. And the one person in our group who wanted "extremely spicy" was super happy with his dish.
google avatar

Sheila S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots. The food is simply amazing and the restaurant is so cozy and comforting! I don't know his name, but the guy that often times runs the food out is good vibes -- super big and genuine smile!
google avatar

Sean H.

Yelp
Miss Al's but this place is bomb good portions and good flavor kids love it! Recommend the salmon tandoori
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
Love this food! They make it at the level of spice requested and their dishes are delicious!
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
All the flavors here are authentic and just perfect. They have varying levels of spicy for the American palette. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. So happy the village has something this unique as far as restaurants go.

Yelp
This Himalayan Sherpa cuisine has great food but slow service. It is in a funky location that looks like it may have been a diner, with booths and tables. They decorated the walls with fabric wall hanging that are also for sale. We ate Lamb! This is not the place to come for steak.lol. Lamb! Veges! Naan bread! Delicious food. Just be patient. Slow service and every table was filled. Busy! We enjoyed a vege dish, Nawaeratan Korma, which proved tastier than expected. Veges, including tofu in the most delicious coconut curry sauce. The two lamb dishes we got: Lamb Saag and Lamb Tikka Masala were delightful. Now, we love curry, so we have an appreciation of the flavors. The food is consistently delicious. We have come twice. No issues with the food. The servers run around, taking orders, clearing tables, bringing food, taking payments. There are plenty of people who come in to pick up their TO GO Orders; so that seems to slow down the process for those people dining in. But it is worth it!
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
I never knew was a momo was until coming here. Now I need more of them in my life. I also had no idea was Himalayan Biryani was, it's amazing. If you don't know, try it! They also had great standard Indian cuisine as well, but when in Nepal...

Yelp
Updating my review- it's been almost a year now and I can safely say my family of 4 goes in here for dinner about once a week!! My kids literally never get sick of it and when you have 2 picky eaters asking for Chicken tikka masala every week you oblige! Lol Every dish is absolutely delicious and if you like things extra spicy order a side of the 911 sauce and be very careful! So spicy, but so good!!! The chicken choila is still my favorite!'its an appetizer but I get it every time! I ask for extra cilantro on top and it is so fresh and wonderful tasting!!! Try it. The service is great and everyone is friendly and welcoming. Must try in the village.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Thursday night. There were only a few tables full, so we got a booth. Service was great. We were greeted right away, food came within 15 mins of ordering, water was refilled without asking, and to go boxes were offered. Parking on the street was easy. Food was phenomenal for a neighborhood place. Loved the veggie korma. We also enjoyed #22 (potato in the same sauce used for butter chicken) and the chicken eggplant dish. Naan was light and great (both plain and garlic/cilantro).

Yelp
Amazing discovery in Carlsbad village. Great ambiance and no wait to be seated on a weekday. I just came here on a whim and got the lunch special: choice of two curries and naan, rice, and lentil soup for $10.99. what a deal!!! The portions are huge, the food came out perfectly hot and richly seasoned without being too salty. You can customize the spiciness level to your liking. I got a combo of vegetable coconut curry + chicken Tikka masala. Can't go wrong with any of them, I was so satisfied and full by the end of my meal that I didn't end up ordering dessert even though I was eyeing both the kheer and the mango lassi. Next time I'll come back with more people so I can try more of their signature Himalayan dishes!

Yelp
Long long ago, there were zero Indian/Nepalese restaurants in my hood. ZERO. The only time I could get some was either at the Sunset Market on Thursdays (the one Indian booth is gone now) and Taste of the Himalayas in Carlsbad. Thankfully both were good options. A few years ago, thankfully some started to pop up here and there. Last night I decided to do a Door Dash order for Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine, which is one I haven't tried before. We ordered samosas, garlic naan, lamb biryani, and butter chicken. The Samosas were slightly salty, but still very good. My husband loved the lamb biryani. I had the butter chicken. I have to be honest, there isn't a place I've gotten butter chicken or chicken tikka masala where the chicken wasn't dry. It's because they all have chicken breast chunks, which we all know breast can very easily get dry as hell. I don't know if there is a reason that chicken thighs or a juicier meat cut couldn't be used, but they are all like this. The butter chicken sauce though? Ahhhmaaaaazzzziiing! I was soaking the naan with the sauce eating it even when I was stuffed just because I just couldn't stop. I even grabbed some regular bread I had when I ran out of naan. Thankfully I still had some left and just finished it up for breakfast. Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine is solid and definitely worth your time.

Yelp
The authenticity of the place reminded me of a similar eatery in Bengali. Sharp flavors, humble staff accurate orders and tantalizing flavors on the food. This place deserves a spot on the Mt Rushmore of places to eat.

Steve K.

Yelp
This is an unpretentious little Indian/Nepalese restaurant. Nothing fancy, just wonderful food served as it should be.
google avatar

Evan H.

Yelp
Delicious! We get Indian food all the time and this had a unique and wonderful flavor. We ordered 3 vegetarian dishes - korma, mixed vegetables, and dal.
google avatar

Jacquelyn S.

Yelp
This location was formerly Al's, a breakfast/lunch place that I loved. I was originally very sad when Al's closed, as it was frequented with my now deceased dad. When I saw an Indian cuisine place going in, I felt like it was the perfect change (my dad would have smiled at that). I was even more excited to eat there, and it turns out the food is so good! We often get the butter chicken and Tikka masala chicken with the cilantro garlic naan. I love the naan, the cilantro takes some of the bite from just regular garlic naan. The butter chicken is my favorite. We always pick up or use door dash. Personally I love picking up. Street parking isn't usually a problem (the only parking available is on the street). The staff is always friendly, but busy. I have noticed more and more people eating inside the establishment. I would highly recommend the butter chicken and cilantro/garlic naan. Sorry no pix, we are too focused on enjoying, and demolishing, the meal.
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
Wow! This place is simply just amazing! My new number go spot for Indian food. The food is fresh and the taste is just clean and perfect! I can't explain how or why it taste clean but it just does lol We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic nann, and rice pudding and every dish was 5 stars in taste, freshness. The customer service is superb and I hope this place stays this way forever lol My number go to place I recommend for Indian food hands down. The reviews are legit lol took me an awhile to try this place but so glad I finally did.
google avatar

Yelp
Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine has best Indian food in town . I had lamb tarkari , chicken korma , salmon tandoori and badami naan everything has nice flavor . Service is quite good . I feel I am eating in Mount Everest with Sherpa . I definitely recommend to all the people and must try this location .

Mathew R.

Yelp
This place is so good. I usually eat here most nights when I'm in the area for work. I'm a white dude so Indian food is somewhat new to me. It's really good people serving really good food. Hard to find places like this these days.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
So flavorful!! Service is perfect.. whatever you need they will get it we wanted hot sauce and it was there so quickly. The food melts in your mouth. The servers are so sweet and attentive. If only I could make salmon tandoori like that!! Thank you HSC!!

Yelp
Stopped in after some time watching the sunset at Carlsbad Beach. I came in late and was worried if I could get seated, but they were very accommodating and even helped with my gluten-free request. It was a fantastic meal with tons of flavor and the service was fantastic. Also, very reasonable for being dinner

Lincoln K.

Yelp
Our family of four enjoyed a delicious lunch at Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine. Every dish was wonderful, flavorful, and satisfying. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We can recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves authentic Indian style cuisine, or who would like to try something new and exotic. We will be back again someday soon!
