"See Bethesda from a whole new perspective from Hip Flask, the penthouse-level bar atop the 12-story Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ. Declared as the “first and only high-rise rooftop bar” in Bethesda, floor-to-ceiling windows offer direct views of the suburban skyline, and there’s a large terrace for outdoor drinking and dining in the sky. Spacious interiors are drenched in a deep blue meant to evoke the Potomac River, and French 75s also take on a watery hue. Non-hotel guests can zip right up to Hip Flask in a separate elevator in the lobby." - Tierney Plumb

Highly recommended sitting at the bar!! We chatted with the bartender Nick most of the night and he made us some of the best cocktails (N/A ones too). Lots of great options and phenomenal service. Definitely want to come back.

First impression upon walking in on a late Tuesday night - this place smells like a locker room. Yes, really. That alone puts it in the “will not return” category. On to cocktails… do you enjoy very pretty syrupy mixes that taste of nothing but sugar,? Then you will like it. For anyone else the positive reviews of this bar would be a complete mystery. So many great choices for cocktails to be found in Bethesda, but this is not one of them. Service is lackluster, if not unwelcoming. On to the vibe…where do I begin. Imagine a college “club” bar but with overpriced offerings and a soundtrack to match. The rooftop space has a very odd flow to it that is not inviting. It may have a nice sunset view (I was there after sunset), but the experience didn’t at all live up to the social media hype. Honestly, I thought I was in the wrong place at first. With all the positive reviews here one would expect better.

Service: I have been wanting to visit hip flask for months now and I finally got to visit to celebrate my birthday! We visited on a Friday night around 10pm (I was worried there would be no seats because the rooftop bar doesn't take any reservations). They allowed us to bring in a cake and the service was phenomenal. Alfredo, the manager was super kind enough to check on us and bring us champagne on the house. In all my experience with managers I've never had a manager who went above and beyond like Alfredo! He went above and beyond to even provide us plates and take our pictures after his shift was over. Ambiance: The ambiance of the bar is absolutely gorgeous, the outdoor area is spacious and they actually provided us blankets! It would be nice if they provided fire pits (similar to how urban roast in DC has theirs). I'm not sure if as it gets closer to winter if they provide outdoor heaters, but that would be very much needed! The indoor bar area was pretty dark and provided a intimate aesthetic. The bathroom was beautiful as well! Parking was readily available, there are several garages in the area within walking distance and street parking also available. Parking was free when we arrived at 10pm on a Friday night. Food/drinks: I got a few shots and the Nikiwi, the nikiwi was delicious! My friends got other cocktails on the menu (i forgot which ones they got) but we all pretty much stayed the same thing that the cocktails were not as strong and pretty sweet! We got the crab cakes and wings. Most of my friends didn't like the wings (4/10) and everyone said the crab cakes were pretty good (7/10). Overall I will definitely return again because of the service we received from Alfredo and other staff members and the overall aesthetic of the place.

Lovely view and great service from our bartender Rafael. Excellent spot for drinks!!! 10/10

Google
Absolutely fantastic venue for an evening night out with light food options. Tapas style food & fantastic drink options. The venue is decorated with an amazing aesthetic. Low light, great energy & beautiful views from the top floor of the Marriott. The bruschetta was absolutely phenomenal with fresh ingredients. The edamame was also a great compliment to our dish. Cocktails are well proportioned with varied styles & flavors to choose from. My only recommendation would have to be to have more than one choice of dessert. Unfortunately the only pastry they offer is a donut crafted sweetener. If they decide to open up another slot for a dessert I can see myself visiting again sooner than anticipated. None the less, still a great and amazing experience at the venue. Will definitely be back soon!

Hip flask is a great place to go and meet a friend. The food and drink are excellent for casual dining and drinking.

Google
My first time and my first rooftop bar in Bethesda. I very much enjoyed my Old Fashioned. The deviled eggs and burrata were well prepared - the flare of bacon on the deviled eggs was a nice touch. Like others I enjoyed the atmosphere but there was an air that service while polite and helpful was still learning the trade. This didn’t bother me - I still had a great time.

Google
Everything you need to know! - Parking is walking distance to the Marriott and the hotel also offers valet parking. Once in, go to the front desk and you will escorted to the elevator. Food: They have a restaurant downstairs with a full menu but the rooftop only offers appetizers which includes between 5-6 items. I ordered the wings and they were the best wings I ever had. They were SOO GOOD. Drinks: I basically had the bartender freestyle on my drink as I always do. They were soo good but you can always order from the menu list. I will also recommend sitting outside so get there early to secure a seat. There are no reservation!

Yelp
This is a cute after hours place! I visited here with a friend for an after work meet up. The staff was really friendly. The cocktail list was very unique. I had the Nikiwi and it was so refreshing and delicious! The view from the rooftop was gorgeous. There is inside and outside seating. There is a parking garage across the street from the hotel. Parking was free at the time I went. (After 5 on a Friday). I def plan to return!

Arielle H.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting HIL and I will say I love the parking garage directly across the street. The ambience once you get off of the elevator is amazing. I will say, the view on the rooftop is best as the sun is setting and or at night time as a surrounding areas are mainly parking garages and or apartment complexes. The food was delicious. I definitely recommend the crabcakes and the duck and the cocktails were definitely specialty! I would also like to give a special shout out of appreciation to our server Rosenica. she made us feel like family and made sure that our time here was enjoyable. I would literally come back just for her!

Nessa R.

Yelp
This city girl loves herself a rooftop! If I'm in Bethesda it's probably because I'm at Woodmont grill and if I'm at Woodmont, I'm coming to Hip Flask Rooftop Bar! Located in the Marriott on the top floor you exit the elevator and typically you'll see a doorman. Sometimes there are waits but I've never actually had to wait, larger parties seem to have to hang out before they will let you in. Drink prices are your normal standard prices. Bartenders stay busy but tend to you quickly. I love to sit outside when weather permits. Always my end game when doing dinner in Bethesda. Can't go wrong coming here! Definitely a live spot. Fun fun fun!

Carley M.

Yelp
This place was such a vibe. I had a great time. I wish the rooftop outside area had more spaces to sit but next time we will show up earlier. The food was good, the drinks were good, the service was amazing! The menu we had was a special menu i was told for that night and that they often change, it was pretty cool! We ended up going there on the way back from happy hour down the street and realized we had been missing out!

Tetiana E.

Yelp
Rooftop is a gem! My favorite place to go. The city views are breathtaking, and the ambiance is perfect for a relaxing evening. The food and drinks are always excellent. A must-visit for a memorable night out. Highly recommend!

Niranjana S.

Yelp
Hip Flask is part of the Marriott hotel and has a separate side entrance for those not staying at the hotel. As suggested in the name it's located on a rooftop and there's both indoor and outdoor seating. There wasn't too much space and it was quite crowded but service was fast and the drink was good!

Davita C.

Yelp
I love the vibe here. I went for drinks with friends. The drinks are normal DC prices so prepare. Some of my friends had some of the menu cocktails and said they were good. There isn't a huge food selection but I didn't pick the place for the food. Seating on the exterior is first come first serve. I would definitely go back. It looks like a date night spot as well.

David B.

Yelp
The ambience, smell and drinks are out of this world! Amazing views from the roof. Bar staff was helping select drinks and guide the experience.

Nathalie M.

Yelp
Hip flask brings city chic to Bethesda. We popped in for drinks and enjoyed the beautiful, but that's the rooftop scenery. The drinks were refreshing, the service was friendly and everyone seemed to be having an amazing time. Hip Flask is great for pre-dinner or post dinner cocktails and light fare.

Spencer H.

Yelp
Another cool rooftop and this one is a bit off the beaten path. Located on top of the newish Bethesda Marriott, it's the perfect place to hang out at after dining at Woodmont Grill or even Black's which are just a few steps away! If you're not starving, Hip Flask offers a nice appetizer menu that will fill your belly when a full meal isn't needed. Of course you want to do a rooftop for the outside vide but if it's a litrle too warm or maybe too cold, Hip offers ample inside seating as well. The times I've come, service has been ON POINT and I especially like the craft original drinks with the HIP names attached.. Pun intended. Lol!

Erin A.

Yelp
Came here for the first time last weekend, and it's honestly the cutest place. The service was good, and it was pretty empty for a Saturday when we arrived, so we could get good seating. I got an espresso martini, which was good, and a mocktail as well. My only feedback would be that it would be great if there were more options on the appetizer menu - specifically, the sliders from downstairs or chicken wings, but that would be it. Definitely, a great place to come if you are going on a date or want a mellow evening out.

Yelp
This rooftop bar is a great experience . It is mostly sit yourself seating but it has both indoor and outdoor areas. The service is pretty great , the bartenders are pretty funny , and the drinks are good. This is one of the only bars that is open late ( in terms of Maryland ) , modern, and plays alright music . It goes get busy on the weekends but it is a pretty great bar

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop bar in the center of Bethesda! Has an amazing decorated interior and a nice spacious exterior! You'll be surrounded by the tall city buildings of Bethesda. Check it out soon as they have 2 cozy igloos available for rent!! (Outside) Drinks were on the boozy side to me (not my cuppa tea!) but if you like booze, check out their bar menu! Tried a few appetizers on their menu and thought they were tasty!

Katie N.

Yelp
We were looking for a rooftop bar to hang out at and decided to venture to Bethesda. The weather had other plans as it started raining on our route out that way, but honestly rainy weather doesn't ruin the experience at Hip Flask. The windows are wide so you can still see the view on a cloudy day and there are more than enough chairs to get a good seat. It is first come first serve so I imagine later in the evening might be more of a challenge. They do not have entrees, more small plate appetizers, so don't go too hungry or have plans for after some drinks. Their cocktails were so fun and definitely strong. We have the Empress and Melon Head. If you are looking for a spot to relax and throw back a couple drinks highly recommend. Can't wait to go back as the Spring and Summer weather kick in.

Alexis B.

Yelp
This place definitely had a great ambience and views from the rooftop. Unfortunately it rained so we could not use the rooftop but definitely will be back with good weather to catch the sunset and enjoy the rooftop. We caught the sunset hour and I got the "smoking beauty" Mezcal drink and the "Nikiwi" but a less sweet version. Raphael, one of the bartenders made the Nikiwi's perfectly the way we wanted them! The food definitely hit! We had a little of everything but the fav was the crab dip! We had the deviled eggs, charcuterie, crab dip, crab cakes, and the tomato + burrata. I would forego the eggs and burrata next time. Would recommend based on drinks, good food options to snack, and the views! If you want dinner this is not your place and as a bar know that it will get loud later in the night, especially when the patio area is not open .

Renee A.

Yelp
Beautiful view from the top floor of the Marriott Downtown Bethesda Hotel. Classy and cozy decor with a beautiful outdoor terrace with views. I enjoyed relaxing for a moment and taking in the sunset at the end of my workday. I didn't order anything this evening, but it had a beautiful well stocked bar. Folks were relaxed and enjoying cocktails and bar bites. Why four vs five stars? It wasn't because of the higher prices, I actually expected that here. It was because while they had several customers, they were not busy. There were four bartenders at the bar when I entered tidying up their stations but not one of them said hello, welcome or what can we do for you. I basically was ignored. Hmmmm -

Ryan K.

Yelp
Fun spot to get drinks! We visited Hip Flask on a Tuesday evening and it was busy, but we managed to find space for the 6 of us. Hip Flask has a nice view of the surrounding area from two different angles even though there is a taller building adjacent to it. Modern house music played over the speakers during our visit, but it was not so loud that we had trouble hearing each other. I ordered the Melon Head cocktail. It was served with a paper straw and was pretty tasty. Overall, I would recommend Hip Flask for sipping drinks outdoors and socializing in Bethesda.

Riley G.

Yelp
Went on a date with my boyfriend here and it was a great experience. The cocktails were delicious and the food was tasty. He absolutely loves this place and that is not very common for him. The staff are great. My bartender (i wish i remember his name) noticed I did not seem to really enjoy my Key Lime cocktail and offered to take it off the bill and give me something else I would prefer instead. It was very kind of him.

Alexis T.

Yelp
The venue is cute, on top of the Marriott hotel with nice ambiance for date night. It's a bit narrow but it wasn't crowded. I'm not sure how it'll be during the summer. The optimize their seating as best as possible but it's not ample. A cute spot for a cocktail after dinner in the restaurant downstairs to catch a breeze and maybe watch the colorful sunset.

Donyiel C.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for a good rooftop, and this one has amazing views! IG pics worthy!! Finally made it here. I've been missing out! They're located at the Matriott in downtown Bethesda. Convenient parking garage across the street. On a warm spring day, I met up with a friend. We sat outside and enjoyed the vibes! The drinks were good. I enjoyed the "Rose Gold" cocktail. It's vodka based. My friend requested a custom cocktail, and they honored it! There's no happy hour here, but the views and cocktails are worth it. This is perfect for a date night or solo or with friends. You already know I'll be back!

Peiling C.

Yelp
Been here twice now and good experiences both times. Lovely vibe on a brisk fall evening and the winter igloos are very cosy. They are booked out pretty far out for the igloos as there is limited space in the rooftop so there is only 2 available at 2 hour intervals. We saw a girl use the igloo for a bridesmaids proposal and it was a super cute idea. Our server was attentive as well. Only complaint is their drinks selection is pretty limited. I would recommend checking it out!

Peter R.

Yelp
It's one of only a few rooftop bars in the area. It's part of the hotel and has a strong visiting hotel clientele vibe. Servers were friendly and reasonably attentive given how busy it was on a Friday night. Cocktails were average and the snack food was tasty but ridiculously overpriced and I do realize you're paying for the location.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
I went during the Christmas season. I was upset that they didn't have any holiday cocktails. We reserved an igloo which was actually surprisingly warm. This place is a cocktail bar, with limited food options. The crab dip was good and the cocktails were good. The view is also so nice and reminds me that Bethesda is really beautiful. Our waitress was kind of rude, but it was a busy evening so we just assumed she had a lot going on and it didn't take away from the experience.

Magdalena S.

Yelp
Came here after a show because there was nothing else open in the area and as with many hotel bars, I found it disappointing. I like an upscale rooftop bar but these cocktails were not it. I don't mind putting down some money for a drink but it should taste better than something you'd get at a college bar in a plastic bar for $4. The employees were nice and the place is cute especially with the outdoor igloos but the view is pretty mediocre for a penthouse. The overall vibe was good, not too loud and I appreciated the fact that it was easy to get a seat.

Dinh N.

Yelp
The drinks were good and the food was ok. Definitely not worth the price tag. You are paying for the view which is decent. The drinks are dc prices.

Haniyyah B.

Yelp
I went on a Thursday evening with a group of 8 for an igloo reservation, and the host who grants entry to the rooftop was very dismissive. He immediately told me there's a wait, and I can scan a QR code because of capacity. I asked for further clarification, and he persisted to tell me I won't be able to go up. When I told him that I have a reservation, he immediately was more friendly and granted access. It was such an uncomfortable and unprofessional experience because he should've led with that. The rooftop is cute! Love the views and the servers are friendly. We ordered a round of apps, and cocktails. I liked that they had non-alcoholic options, but it could've come in a cocktail glass respectfully. The crab dip and edamame were the popular favs. No complaints there.

Nameeta M.

Yelp
We didn't have a reservation and we had a party of 6 so we were looking for a table and they were pretty busy as it was a Friday night. Eric, one of the managers, saw us waiting and offered for us to sit in their igloo outside. The igloo felt very cozy with the small heater, blankets, and multiple places to sit. The actual bar was also beautiful and the ambiance here was perfect We got around 2 drinks each and honestly every single drink was impressive. I got the sage drink and the vagabond rose, and their ooo berries drink was unlike anything I have had before and delicious. Eric and the other staff members were extremely attentive and nice, and it was all in all a wonderful night here. Everyone in our party had a great time, we will definitely come back!

Vivian J.

Yelp
The rooftop view is nice and the restaurant has a nice vibe. I did not appreciate the fact that you had to order your food at the bar, and come back and pick it up. This spot is upscale and they should have service outside. I had the chicken and it was good and my drink was amazing. Honestly, I did not stay long or order any additional drinks because I did not want to leave my seat to go inside to order. This evening, I was solo and celebrating my birthday. This spot would be nice for Happy Hour or meeting up with friends for dinner and cocktails.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
This rooftop is such a vibe and a great addition to MoCo. Loved the atmosphere and aesthetic - definitely a great place to hang out with a significant other or friend/group of friends. Had their clarified piña colada and honey habanero wings. Truly enjoyed the piña colada, perfect blend of sweetness and alcohol. I actually enjoyed the wings, it's a dry rub with a kick of both sweet and spicy. Shoutout to our phenomenal server, Erick, who was friendly and super attentive throughout the evening. Truthfully I would've rated Hip Flask 4 stars, but because of his amazing service, bumped it up to 5 stars. Definitely come around sunset, it's really beautiful.

Trevi B.

Yelp
Came here for "happy hour" gathering (they do not have a happy hour menu by the way). Nice decor and set up. We sat outside it was a beautiful spring day and the views are nice. Service was good although things did take a little while, it wasn't too bad. Food was not good, they have small plates meand they were just bleh. I recommend for the ambiance a nice after work cocktail or pre dinner cocktail with a view.

Eddie K.

Yelp
This is exactly what Bethesda needed! What a fun and happening place on a Thursday night while most other places around the hotel is pretty dead. It's such a modern and hip place- Marriott knew Bethesda needed a rooftop bar and boy did it deliver. Great views of the Mormon temple, Tysons Corner and Silver Spring. They had many bartenders so getting drinks was no issue. They were so friendly and attentive. I would come here after dinner as food menu is very limited. Thank you for opening Hip Flask in Bethesda!

Justin M.

Yelp
Aesthetically pleasing, good drinks, and good food....horrible service Quick shout out to the manager for basically being our server, since our actual server never came back. The story goes like this. I arrive at Hipflask and find a seat at the bar. My friend who arrived 20 minutes later could not get upstairs because there was now a waitlist. Ok cool, not a huge issue. The bartender however, tried to get her upstairs so she wouldn't have to wait (which didn't work even though he sent two people downstairs to get her) good initiative, bad judgement. Once she finally gets upstairs we find seating and our sever takes our orders for the spiced edamame and the beer and goat cheese bruschetta (appetizers) After about 25 - 30 minutes I asked someone (who happened to be the manager) to check on our food order. The server comes back apologizing and brings 2 plates, 2 forks and 1 table napkin. Another 10 minutes or so goes by and my friends food is brought out, but not mine. I flag the manager down again and pretty quickly mine is then brought out. After this point, the server never came back to check if we needed anything. We had been done with our food and drinks for about 40 minutes and we did actually want to order other things. Eventually saw the manager again and mentioned what was going on and what we had wanted. The manager offered 2 drinks free to make up for it. I can't remember his name, but the manager was respectful, helpful and apologetic. I would come again only because of how well we were treated by him. It's not a bad place at all and has great date night vibes. The food was good and the drinks were good. They just need to work on their customer service a bit.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I'm glad they have this rooftop bar in Bethesda. The views here are great. I enjoyed the espresso martini I had here. The only downside is that it can get really crowded so it might not be easy to find a seat or get your drink quickly.

China D.

Yelp
I would suggest only ordering wine or beer here. The cocktails are nowhere near quality. You will be mad after paying $20 for a watered down cocktail. I've never had cocktails at this grown age of mine this bad Lol. But fr! I came here last Friday night for my friend's surprise bday party. I ordered myself the Tiger Vogue and I ordered him vodka and tonic. He wanted Ciroc but they do not sell any of the Cirocs. His drink was just as watered as mine. A very faint taste of liquor. I'm not the one to try another bad cocktail so I just stuck to Chardonnay the rest of the night. I knew they couldn't water down wine straight from the bottle. Now the rooftop view on the other hand is spectacular at sunset!!!!! I'll come back just for the relaxing view overlooking Bethesda. Plenty of nice comfortable chairs and couches outside too.

Courtland M.

Yelp
The drinks were great but definitely overpriced. It is a beautiful bar but gets very loud. We stayed mainly inside but there is also a pretty outdoor space. The service was a bit lack luster and could be improved.

Isabelle L.

Yelp
The views and the vibe are amazing. It's giving mature luxury. It was a very subdued chill atmosphere. I really liked how the server was upfront on which drinks were good. I don't drink, but still got an espresso martini. Although it was strong (to me). I feel like it was watery. I was expecting more of a creamier drink. The view and the space and vibes made up for that.

AJ W.

Yelp
Overpriced and the menu kinda stinks...the food items are just Costco food either taken directly from a plastic bag to a plate, or (barely) heated up in a microwave. The drinks are a little pricey for what they are. It's a cool spot to checkout the rooftop view, but Marriott should step it up and make this place way better.

Fabiola S.

Yelp
This was my first time here, and I am so happy that I came. It was a very cold winter night, and I decided to meet my younger sister here for drinks. There were only about six items or so on the menu for food - we tried the edamame, deviled eggs, and wings. There were way more cocktails, which makes sense because it is a cocktail bar, every single drink we ordered was delicious. We also sat at the bar so we were able to see all the drinks going out and it was absolutely beautiful and fantastic. It was busy from the moment we got there to the moment we left but the service never faltered. I cannot wait to return with all my friends, and especially in warmer weather!

Isabel A.

Yelp
Very cute rooftop in the mix of the new Marriott headquarters in downtown Bethesda. It's winter so the outside area is a little off limits. There were 2 igloos outside though --perhaps you can't tent them out or it's first come, first serve. Drinks were absolutely delicious! Pricier end at $15-20 per drink. Be mindful that 20% tip is already included. Our bartender was very nice and told us this. I would def come back in the summer time or for a nice sunset.

Mila F.

Yelp
Beautiful upscale classy bar in Bethesda. I feel like it's the one place I can go in Bethesda that gives that upscale city bar night vibe! I love the decoration, the intimacy and the drinks are well done. The service is impeccable - I have been there a couple times and each time no matter who is serving the waiter has been both friendly and professional! The food is pretty good - I received a saltier version of the crab dip when I went two nights ago. I had ordered it previously and it was amazing so maybe the consistency of creating a 5 star bar bite is a little off. It's definitely on the pricier end but its a rooftop view, curated experience and beautiful ambience. Very social after work, professional crowd when you go here and I definitely plan to frequent this bar!

James H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a rooftop bar with a view and excellent hand-crafted cocktails, then Hip Flask is the place to be. From the moment you step foot in the door, you can tell that this bar takes their craft seriously. The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and adept at helping you navigate the menu with ease. The cocktails themselves are a work of art, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. From classics like the Old Fashioned and Negroni to more unique creations like the Lavender Sour and Ginger Margarita, there's something for every taste. The rooftop location adds an extra element of ambiance to the experience, with breathtaking views of the city skyline. Whether you're here for a romantic date or a night out with friends, Hip Flask has got you covered. Overall, I highly recommend Hip Flask for anyone looking for a top-notch craft cocktail experience. The attention to detail, friendly service, and stunning views make for a memorable night out.

Kenyetta C.

Yelp
I thought this was a cute trendy rooftop bar to visit. It is literally just a bar so there are only small plates and drinks. There are some signature cocktails but you can ask them to make anything. It's located inside of the Marriott Hotel, which is also beautiful by the way. I enjoyed myself. The bathrooms were clean. The vibe was good. The food was good. The drinks were good. No complaints!

Fred K.

Yelp
It's a good new addition to Bethesda. It's a more upscale bar that you would normally find in DC, not Bethesda. I would give this place 5 stars, except the person manning the elevator and entrance. He told us a large group just went in and we had to wait 15 minutes. We sat down at lobby bar and in those 15 minutes, we saw many groups of people go in. WTF! I liked the Seventh State bar scene and the friendliest bartenders. They also have a full food menu too. Going back to this review, Bethesda sorely needed a place like this - Tommy Joes it isn't! The inside is quite small and nicely decorated and the outdoor space is quite large. You can see the Mormon temple and Tyson's from the distance. But most of the space you see the Marriott HQ building. Drinks are around $16-$20 each. Fast service at the bar - with so many bartenders! I would however create a small dedicated area for people to order drinks at bar who cannot snag a seat at the bar. Us patrons would appreciate it especially when outdoor service wasn't being offered. Food wise, small snacks here. Go down to Seventh State, Blacks, Woodmont Grill to eat, or heck Tastee Diner after bars close to soak up the grease and food next door.

Yelp
Overpriced, pretentious, poor service and not worth the b.s. Extremely overpriced even for Bethesda. Bar food is absolutely awful. We ordered crab dip and chicken wings. The crab dip was soupy and the wings came slathered in sauce that you would expect from a low-end sports bar. The waiter had to be asked twice to clear the table and only cleared half of the dishes the first time. This place requires a 20% gratuity on all checks (regardless os the size of the party) for THAT kind of food and service? Marriott is fleecing bargoers. The food at Black's Bar and Kitchen across the street is 20x better, and I'm sure they can manage basic directions. 2 appetizers/very small plates and 5 drinks was $175.00. Never again.

Yelp
Hip Flask was everything I thought it would be. Came here with tha Booski, it's in the Marriott Hotel. When you walk in, go to your immediate right, take the elevator to the penthouse. If you want to sit outside- GO EARLY. We got there about 9:30 and only found seating at the bar. We went on a Friday night and it was packed with the Beautiful people. Service was awesome, the drinks were awesome. I had the Accidental Tourist and the Rose Gold. Booski had an IMP and the Perfect Blue. We also ordered the Charcuterie and Cheese board, which was ok, I wish there was more of a variety of cheese, but it was cool. The atmosphere was chill, we definitely would come back again

Yelp
My friends and I visited this establishment for happy hour last Tuesday. Be advised that, although the lobby bar at the Marriott is open during the afternoon, the rooftop is not open until 5 PM and they did not allow patrons to go up a moment sooner. Happy hour prices are available in the lobby bar only, no discounts on the rooftop. The ambience inside is lovely, they have a rather large bar and a decent amount of seating outside. However, the view could be better. Overall, the service was great, drinks were tasty and strong. We tried their buffalo wings, and they were pretty good. Although we noticed speakers outside, the music was so faint we could barely hear it. We sat at one of the high bar tables, however, they do have sofas that provide more of a lounge feel. I would say it is a decent rooftop bar for an after work drink or socializing with friends; maybe even a date night. If you are looking to party, however, this is not the place for you. Our end by saying it is the perfect place to watch the sunset!

Yelp
I visited Hip Flask on a Thursday evening. It's inside the hotel. You have to show ID to get upstairs. We were greeted once we got off the elevator. They advised they didn't have patio service so we had to order inside and take our things outdoors. The drinks were pretty good. The menu consist of small plates and is very limited. We ordered the wings and a cheese plate. I could have done without both. I would suggest you go here before or after dinner. The views are the the star of this place. The sunsets from the rooftop are stunning.

Yelp
Visited the rooftop bar and complained about the lack of tequila cocktails on the menu. Nick is a true mixologist and he proceeded to make me a couple of amazing tequila cocktails! He was named best in Bethesda for a reason and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Great stop for drinks! - quality drinks, aesthetic is beautiful and ideal for photos anywhere. Appetizer list is small but board we ordered was great and each piece was eaten. Workers are so kind! Attentive and helpful. Definitely recommend for casual drinks!!
