"Hippin’ Hops is a Black-owned brewery with two locations, one in Kirkwood and the other here in EAV. A brewery and oyster bar isn’t a combination you hear too often 'round here, so we love Hippin’ Hops for giving us a place to slurp down great craft beer and awesome oysters. Try out their Collardfeller oysters, which is a Southern twist to the traditional Rockefeller with smoked turkey and collard greens. If oysters aren’t your thing, grab a Rolling Dank IPA, sit at the long cafeteria-style tables, and enjoy the party tunes thumping from the speakers. "The second location of Hippin Hops Brewery opens Friday, February 11, at the Hosea and 2nd complex in East Lake. Hippin Hops first opened on Glenwood Avenue in East Atlanta Village last year, becoming one of the first Black-owned breweries with a permanent location in the state of Georgia. Owned by Clarence and Donnica Boston, this second location expands upon the brewery’s beer offerings, focusing on sours, and sees grilled food options added to the menu, according to reporting by the AJC. Unlike the East Atlanta Village brewery, the East Lake location also distills whiskey, vodka, and agave-based spirits and serves cocktails. Look for eight beers on tap in East Lake from head brewer Kevin Blodger, including IPA Baby Mama Drama, a key lime pale ale called I Got the Keys, and sours like the Trapaholic and So Peachy. Two hard seltzers are also available. Led in the kitchen by Derricia Snow, who now serves as the company’s executive chef, expect lamb chops, grilled shrimp skewers, and blackened sea bass with Cajun rice as well as fried fish plates and gouda mac and cheese on the menu in East Lake. In addition to indoor seating, a wraparound deck and patio feature nine tables with lawn games, including cornhole, Jenga, and a putting green.
