Went during lunch time, only one person was helping guests so it took longer to help me. But the gentleman was friendly. Ordered 2 rolls and nigiri. I’d say the sushi is good but not great, maybe other rolls are better? I will definitely try again. The nigiri was my fav thing from the order. I’d say give this a go if you want Reno sushi. Ordered: gold California, caterpillar and unagi.

Hiroba Sushi may be tucked away in a strip mall, but don’t let its unassuming exterior fool you. While the décor and ambiance might not immediately catch your eye, what awaits you inside is nothing short of culinary excellence. This is a place where taste and quality take center stage, and the experience is far beyond what you might expect from its location.Taste and Quality: A Culinary DelightThe real star of Hiroba Sushi is, without a doubt, the food. From the moment the first dish arrives at your table, it's clear that the chefs here take immense pride in their craft. The sushi is consistently fresh, bursting with flavor, and presented with an attention to detail that rivals some of the more high-end sushi restaurants. Each piece of sushi is a testament to the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. The menu offers a wide variety of options, catering to both traditionalists who love the classics and adventurous eaters looking for something new. Whether you opt for a simple tuna roll or one of their more inventive specialty rolls, you can expect a symphony of flavors that delight your taste buds. The balance of textures and flavors in each dish is masterful, making it clear that the team behind the sushi bar has honed their craft to perfection.Service: Warm and AttentiveThe service at Hiroba Sushi is another highlight of the dining experience. The staff is not only knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely friendly and eager to ensure that your meal is enjoyable. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, you’ll be treated with the same level of care and attention. The servers are prompt, courteous, and always willing to offer recommendations if you’re unsure about what to order.Ambiance: Simple, Yet ComfortableWhile the ambiance might not be the most luxurious, it is comfortable and clean, providing a pleasant setting to enjoy your meal. The simplicity of the décor allows the food to shine and the warm atmosphere created by the staff makes you feel right at home. It's a reminder that sometimes the best dining experiences are found in the most unexpected places. Conclusion: A Must-Visit for Sushi LoversIn a world where so much emphasis is placed on flashy interiors and trendy locations, Hiroba Sushi stands out as a restaurant that lets its food do the talking. It may not have the most ingenious design, but what it lacks in aesthetics, it more than makes up for in taste and quality. If you’re a sushi lover, this is one place you simply must try. The high-quality ingredients, exceptional taste, and warm, attentive service make Hiroba Sushi a hidden gem worth discovering. Don’t let the strip mall location deter you—once you taste the sushi here, you’ll be planning your next visit before you even leave the restaurant.

Google
The sushi was delicious! Little sushi rolls with less rice too. All of them teasted fresh. The service was good also.

Came on a Tuesday night and it was surprisingly busy! Got seated right away and overall served very quickly. Did the all you can eat and everything came out quick and tasted great. Our server was super friendly- so shout out to Nick, you’re great. Overall made for a nice hassle free date night with great food!

If Woo Jun is my server, then it's smooth sailing. If he isn't there; I'll sit at the bar. We've grown fond of this place over the years. Sushi is always up to par, and their staff takes great care of my family. We always order AYCE and never wait too long for our orders. The Philadelphia and the Golden Gate are a few of my favorite rolls. Uzura is a must! I've had a mishap with a female server taking cash and giving me the wrong change. I was rushing back to work since I was on my lunch and noticed she shorted me on top of being rude. I still tipped her, although it was against my better judgment. As a woman, it pains me to say that the service I've received from the woman here is not acceptable nor deserving of a tip. Here's a tip: if you're paying with cash, check your change if your server isn't Woo Jun. Beware of the not so happy older Hispanic lady if she happens to serve you. Despite these few mishaps, the rest of the crew is great. We come back for the sushi and them.

Google
All the chefs were great and the food was amazing. I never had to wait for anything and everyone was really friendly. This is by far one of my favorite places in the Reno/Sparks area to get sushi.

Bradley Nakaji

Google
Most definitely a gaijin place. Okay for the area. The food caters to the American palate. The servers almost expect you to order the AYCE option and are quite rude if you want to order a la carte. Since we wanted a la carte, we were stuck in a corner and ignored. The interior is clean and pleasant smelling. No fishy odors. It is cramped with tables and a little dark. Might not be returning.

Yelp
Went for all you can eat lunch. Server was great and we got our order pretty quick! You need to ask for wasabi and pickled ginger if that's your jam. Love that the nigiri pieces are small (as they should be). Hand rolls were decently sized and the nori was crispy! Not many sushi places in sparks but will definitely come back!

Yelp
To preface, i come to Hiroba pretty often with my family, and it has always been pretty good. maybe today was just a bad day? Today, after my good performance at my wrestling tournament I came for AYCE lunch with my girlfriend to celebrate. Unfortunately, the food was very bland. my sushi rolls didn't taste like anything at all, and were kind of mushy. the hand rolls also did not taste like much. overall they just didn't taste very good. even the appetizers were not as good as usual. we didn't get any ginger or wasabi either. nothing tasted fresh, which it usually does. I am not going to blame anybody or bash the restaurant because in previous experiences i've had pretty good food and service. my service was not bad today either. To be honest, i am just so dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience today because it cost me $70 ($10 charge for unfinished food) which is a lot for me! i just wanted to treat my girlfriend and myself, to something a little more special than usual, and we were both left disappointed (and still hungry!) again, hopefully it was just a bad day, but after this, i'm not sure i can look at Hiroba the same.

Yelp
I just wanted to leave a tip for you to check your tickets before you add additional gratuity. We had an automatic 18% gratuity added for a party of 3. That didn't leave a good taste in my mouth; Especially when I was coming back around to dining here regularly again. I almost added another 21% tip on top of the 18% added to my bill. I thought my total was a little high and went back to my original receipt. It's dishonest and let them have the 18%. I always tip on service. Who knows how many other times this has happened. Super bummed, I'll skip this place next time I crave sushi.

Yelp
Perfect small sushi spot, the rice to fish ratio was even and nice. The servers were great and the food came out quick.

Yelp
First time going. My husband and I went right when it opened for lunch. We immediately got seated. We had the seaweed salad and muscles for an appetizer. The muscles were prepared differently than I'm used to but were amazing. The seaweed salad was perfectly balanced with the sesame oil and salt. For nigiri, we had surf clams, octopus, Donald duck, Mickey mouse, upside down shrimp, quail egg shooters, hibachi, gravlax, smoked salmon and mackerel. All the pieces were properly portioned between rice and fish. All of it tasted amazing and also was incredibly fresh. For rolls, I had the snow mountain and crunch roll. My husband had the challenge and the spider roll. Once again, everything was exactly as described. The rolls weren't rice heavy and definitely were balanced. Since we didn't have much room, we split a piece of the green tea cheesecake, which really blew our minds. I can't say enough about this place. It was clean. The artwork was really pretty. It is a smaller establishment so I imagine it could get a little hard to find seating during peak hours but that's really a small price to pay for the experience!

Yelp
Everything is great, fresh and comes out quick. My favorite place in all of Reno/Sparks!

Yelp
Quality of fish and atmosphere is not the greatest, definitely better places around for sure. The service and people were really nice though!

Yelp
We moved to Sparks/Reno in 2020. We kinda gave up on decent AYCE in Reno until we found Hiroba early this year. Fight me. JK ;) The staff has great customer service skills, menu has a wide variety, and everything seems really fresh. Their take on baked green mussels is so good! ‍

Yelp
I absolutely love this sushi restaurant. They are always friendly. It's always clean. As someone that appreciates sashimi and the fresh fish rolls I appreciate the quality too here.

Yelp
I love this place! It's been a while since I've been here and what was I thinking. Forgot how good it was. Typical sushi ambiance and service was quick and very attentive. Weekend special roll was awesome.

Paulina G.

Yelp
I always go for the lunch special which I found out is only offered during the week. I always get the same server, he is really attentive! Only once did he bring me a really spicy roll. I probably wouldn't have noticed if it was any other roll but he accidentally gave the challenge roll. SUPER SPICY! He quickly fixed his mistake even though I ate the whole roll today I did the AYCE sushi and it was amazing. I really enjoyed the Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck nigiri! I have a newborn in a stroller and they always accommodate us by putting us in a comfortable space where we won't get in anyone's way.

Yelp
Small unfamiliar location to me Convenient parking right up front I wasn't familiar with Men making the sushi were great The woman servers were okay Was not super impressed by the sushi rolls tho

Yelp
Went to Hiroba and was hoping to use my filled punch card to save some money on a lunch. The server was nice enough but he insisted that I couldn't redeem the punch card because there was a lunch "special" where they had reduced the price of AYCE from $26.95 to $24.95. I pressed the issue and the server said there was nothing he could do about it. The food was okay. Given the difficulty in redeeming the punch card, I'd rather take my business elsewhere.
google avatar

Trina P.

Yelp
I had a chance to go here for Friday dinner. When I am seated at the bar and ordering nigiri, the chefs always give me more than I asked. For example, if I asked for two salmon pieces, they'll give me four (which you see in the photo). The rice to fish ratio is optimal. Many of the rolls are rice heavy so I'd suggest avoiding those.

Yelp
Always great tasting sushi and great service from staff. Tried the new cold sake and it was good. It's right near my place so I eat here often. Both dine in and pick up.

Yelp
PUNCH CARD IS A SCAM! I've been there and tried to use my punch card 3 times now. It has all it is full and has 10 stamped from previous purchases. They have given me a different reason for not honoring it every time I go. We will not return. The punch card, after trying to use it 3 times now, is clearly a scam. The waiter told me it can't be used because they were offering $2 off AYCE. I said go ahead and charge me the full price then. He would not. Also, the card does NOT say it cannot be used with any other offers. Spend your money somewhere that's not pulling shady business. Even more concerning was that our waiter was eating in between serving us and not washing his hands in between. Yuck!!! I saw him walk to the front to greet people while finishing a bite. Maybe take your business somewhere sanitary. I asked for the manager's info. The waiter told me they don't give out that info. So I guess if you have a legitimate complaint, go kick sand because they have no one for you to take your complaint to.

Yelp
Still never disappoints every time we come here! Love that the nigiri is still smaller than a lot of the sushi places in town. Always get the mussels, miso soup, cucumber salad, and calamari for appetizers, a variety of nigiri, and one hand roll each or share a long roll! This time we got a Sparks roll but added japlapeno on top! Yum!

Yelp
Hiroba Sushi presents an exceptional deal with free unlimited hot sake pairings available from Tuesday to Friday, between 3 PM and 5 PM. This offers an excellent opportunity for sake enthusiasts to indulge in unlimited hot sake during these hours. I would love to enjoy a sake bomb shot, combining sake with beer, such as an Asake (Asahi + Sake).

Yelp
I love this place!!! Not what you'd expect for a small 10 table all you can eat sushi restaurant. Except for the bathrooms, the establishment is reasonably clean. The service is superb; the staff works as a team; they ask you lots of clarifying questions. The food quality is high and the order to table time is low (down right fast actually). Expect to pay $35/pp after tax but before tip ($42/pp after tip). Pro tips: - everything is a la carte (no buffet) so you will be charged for uneaten food including rice - only one dessert order per person - very close to exit 20 off highway 80 if you are passing through My favorite items: 1. Snow mountain hand roll 2. Uzuru (quail egg & tobiko) nigiri 3. Calamari rings 4. Mickey Mouse nigiri 5. Green tea cheesecake
google avatar

Yelp
Best sushi in town! Wide variety of raw and cooked long rolls and hand rolls. Best miskey mouse and Donald Duck nigiri! Friendly staff and clean building!

Yelp
Service is pretty fast. Food was good. I wish they served the miso soup in a cup. It would've been good to have maybe some veggies with the chicken teriyaki. It was pretty good though. The unagi and caterpillar roll were pretty good as well. My friend enjoyed her rolls and nigiri. She didn't love the miso soup.

Yelp
TLDR: Good Cucumber Salad. Lots of options for Dessert! Small portions. I want to say that their dessert options are pretty extensive for an AYCE place! They have various mochi, fried banana, even a cheesecake. Compare this with many other places that don't even have dessert or just 1 choice. I was really really impressed with that! Yeah, I have a low bar... I also really like the cucumber salad, which is a bit strange, because it's just an appetizer. But it isn't just pickled vinegary, but also sweet. It's like eating a vegetable candy, which sounds disgusting, but it actually helps get your fiber going. It was refreshing, and I really couldn't stop eating it. Even though I don't really care for cucumbers at all! With the highlights out of the way, the rest of the sushi was.... average. There were some highs, there were some plains, there weren't any lows though. I really like the fact that the portions are small. I know it sounds strange, but for AYCE, it's great! It allows you to try many different things, without getting stuck with a "loser" sushi. And they don't intentionally try to "fill you up" with rice. Even the nigiri rice was small. As a result, we ordered (and FINISHED) wayyy more sushi rolls than normal. The standouts were the nigiri and the crunch roll. The salmon was fresh, but not the freshest I've had. It wasn't tough or chewy, but still not as smooth and buttery as some of the best I've had. I also had a strange "sushi" that was remarkably tasty... the Monster roll. It has a hotdog in it! So it's a kinda good introduction to sushi for people who don't like to eat raw fish. My wife thinks it would taste so much better if the hotdog was grilled instead of boiled. But the overall taste wasn't bad. And that is the review in a nutshell. Taste wasn't bad. But it's not AMAZING sushi either, that I would want to rave and tell my family. Oh btw, don't circle the items in your checklist. Apparently that means "a la carte". Also the service/ordering system was hit n miss. Some items we ordered, we never got. We had to order them again or remind the servers about it. It might be because the ordering system is on 3 sheets of paper, double-sided. Not a very efficient system, IMO.

Yelp
Another stellar take-out experience here! I like to treat my kids to a special sushi after-school snack once in awhile, and Hiroba is close to my home, and easy to access the freeway when I'm ready to go. I missed the major lunch rush, so that worked in my favor, but they had the order done so fast, and made my head spin! It was very reasonably priced, beautifully plated, and and made exactly how I asked, no bubbles, no troubles! It was so fresh, and delicious, my kids loved it! Hiroba made me look like a hero mom, so I wouldn't hesitate to go back next time I'm craving full all you can eat sushi.

Yelp
Back again and still as good as always! I tried som of there new roles and they are so good. The place is still as good as always. The painted wall still looks as good as new! The service is nice as always and super caring to your needs. I am allergic to many od things and the mad sure to tell me if any of the roles u wanted had any of them! Will be back once again !

Yelp
The fish was fresh and everything was well made. The service was so good I'm convinced the guy owner the place because I've never seen a waiter do such an amazing job and take that much pride in their work. It was very clean. I've been here many times before but not for a couple years but I will be back again!

Yelp
Go-to sushi spot. Super fast service and super reliable rolls. So many place in town are hit and miss or lacking. This place has yet to give me a bad experience.

Yelp
Impressive sushi spot! This is by far the quickest sushi bar we've been to. They have friendly and attentive staff! Awesome music that kept me dancing in my seat. The taste of the mussels, nigiri and sushi was impressive. The mussels have a unique taste! It makes me drool just thinking about them again! The rolls themselves were small in size, but in a good way. I feel like a lot of sushi places pack their rolls with rice and lack flavor. Not here. There is plenty of the roll, so although they are smaller in size there's plenty to taste the flavor. It all tastes fresh too! Absolutely delicious! We were IMPRESSED by how quickly they came out. I don't think we waited more than 5 minutes for a roll after ordering. It was lunch hour and it was decently packed, but was seriously shocked at how quickly our rolls came out. If you're a parent and your kiddos are into sushi mucho, they have an option for appetizers, our daughter loved the miso soup and bulgogi with rice! I had a bite and it sip of the soup, both were so good! We live about 30 minutes away, but anytime we're up for sushi again, this will be our go to spot. No doubt about it!

Yelp
As a 72 y/o long-term customer who began coming here when it first opened up, I'm very saddened to see a very unexpected decline at Hiroba. I used to brag about Hiroba to people all the time for it's fresh tasty food (REPEATEDLY so), pleasant employees and quaintness. I got to know the owners Sue and Yung (far more so, Sue) as well as Mauricio, the Chef. I (*we*) ALWAYS looked forward to going to Hiroba - without exception. As of Sept 6 2024 I/we can no longer do that. My wife and I hadn't been for about 6 months due to her operation, so this was going to be a late luncheon reward for her healing as well as (we 'thought',) the grand satisfaction of our palates - because Hiroba is the ONLY place we have gone to for years for sashimi, sushi, etc - we'd literally gone nowhere else. It was THAT good. OMG, what happened to this place?? The server, pleasant enough, didn't understand nor speak much English, making discussions *extremely* difficult. No wasabi was served (we later had to ask for it), the glass dipping dishes were now small kind of ugly plastic things, on our order: the staff made wrong items, forgot multiple items and worst of all, the dishes served were simply terrible... although the volcanoes were (not customary, but) "acceptable". Even the table soy sauces were odd tasting... especially the reduced salt one. I think maybe they were faux soys in real kikkoman bottles, because we use kikkoman at home and we're very accustom to their flavors. The tuna (all orders, every piece) was nearly inedible due to each bite being full of sinew - a fibrous interwoven tendon. Like chewing thin plastic yarn. Akami, it wasn't... very sure it was seshimo - from the lower back, which the cccc-cheapest quality one could buy as a restaurant. We always eat tuna and salmon at Hiroba and had NEVER had a fibrous bite of tuna - ever! Not one. The rice used in the long rolls was tasteless and dry, like it had sat out for days... literally no flavor - contrary to all our past experiences there. The spices/sauces/seeds were VERY ( *V* *E* *R* *Y* ) sparingly used and not one thing we ordered tasted like it "should" - In all our past experiences, the food quality and taste was !extremely tasty! and repeatable - THAT's why we always came back! That's why we never went anywhere else! Pfft. This time it was so bad we didn't order anything more and left hungry after (very quietly) speaking to a young lady about (in our opinion) the dramatic downfall of things, who then took our personal info and said she'd pass it on to Sue. I don't believe she did, or we would have heard from Sue, as Sue knows us by facial recognition. So quite unfortunately for US, we report the truth of the SAD new experience herein, as well as have made the decision to never go back. $60 for lunch (we had water drinks) which tasted that bad, is completely unacceptable. Our hope is Sue reads this review and reaches out - Depending on what she has to say, it might help.

Yelp
When they first opened and I tried them, I had nothing bad to say about the food or the service. 2nd time I tried them, about 2 weeks ago.. the food tasted okay but the rolls were a bit skimpy. Not really worth the price anymore. And the service not so great. Although it was a pretty quiet atmosphere. So overall I think I would give 1/2 star for the food and 1/2 for the service. Chances are I won't be returning to this place any time soon.

Yelp
Great sushi spot for lunch and dinner. The sushi menu is the same every sushi place in Reno. Service is always quick and nice. Love their mountain roll and King Kong. Overall a great visit.

Yelp
We decided to give Hiroba Sushi a try for the first since they moved locations. I guess its been a few years, the food and the service were both very bland. Before the staff was very loud as you entered and excited to greet you with a HUGE HELLLOO. (NO literally they would practically scream) The food was inconsistent. While I did enjoy the appetizer, they weren't the best. The potsticker were good, the muscles were very disappointing. There was barley any sauces, and rather dry and the calamari was very chewy. The sushi itself was not good. I didn't enjoy the way it was seasoned, I'm not sure what it was but it just was not my favorite. Honestly the only good thing was the green tea ice cream. I don't think I will be coming back, I wouldn't even recommend.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Hubby and I decided on sushi tonight, because it was the only thing that sounded remotely good during such a hot day. We had been to their previous location off skyline a while back, and it was really good. They've moved to sparks, and have a much smaller restaurant. We got there before the dinner crowds, which was nice, but it was pretty warm inside, so I'm not sure if it's typically like that or if they were just having some issues with the weather being so hot today. Ordered edamame, King Kong, Border, and the Kwon. The King Kong wasn't the best I've had, but hubby said the border was really good. Both were fried rolls, so for our shared roll, we went with something lighter. The Kwon was a great finish, and both of us enjoyed it. This wouldn't be my first choice for sushi if I wanted a nice date night place, but for a quick bite to eat on a hot day, it was a solid choice.
google avatar

Philicia S.

Yelp
Enjoyed my dinner tonight. I love traditional rolls and sushi so my review is based on the nigiri and 2 rolls I ordered. I used to go to hiroba back at their original location over 10 years ago, the menu is slightly condensed from what I remember, but its straight forward AYCE sushi. I really enjoyed the sake nigiri, ikura, ika, and Cajun tuna. The quality of fish is not going to be your fine dining sushi spot, but its definitely am AYCE quality kind of place. They make their sushi with effort so I didn't feel like I got any bad rolls or pieces. Quality could be better but for the price it's worth the quick sushi craving hit. Pablo was the sushi chef that helped me today, he's friendly and did a great job with the special request I had for the albacore (ceviche style) roll I asked him to make. It was my favorite for sure. Their habanero sauce is deliciously spicy and comparable to sushimis, they share the same recipe I assume since sushimis took over the original location. Overall it's a great AyCE sushi spot and I enjoyed my visit. It was just myself, quiet and a little empty on a Sunday night. But they're ready to feed you if you're ready to eat. Will be back if I'm visiting in the area again

Yelp
Whilst my wife is getting her nails done next door at Sparks Nail Spa,, I jumped into Hiroba Sushi. Located in the middle of a strip mall is usually where I find hidden gems, not today. I walked into a small, empty, dark restaurant and was greeted immediately by a friendly hostess. There were 4 sushi makers behind the bar, I suppose in case they got busy. The smell of fish was ever present, not a good sign but not strong enough to deter this reviewer. The bar has the obligatory qual eggs, crab legs and salmon peering through the small glass encasement. I ask for a tuna wrap and a piece of salmon sashimi. The tuna was stringy and chewy, the salmon was quite frankly most disappointing, limp with no flavor as something I could get at Raley's in their seafood case. Nice enough staff but a fish fail :(

Yelp
Pretty good food like how they don't over stuff you with rice good music and desert I'm pretty satisfied but not sure we will be back

Yelp
Hiroba's Crystal shrimp roll is unmatched! Simple, I know, but it's amazing! I also frequent the King Kong roll, and it never disappoints. I recently brought my kids for the first time, and they loved it. The ambiance was pleasant, and the food was great as always. Will definitely remain a customer.

Yelp
so light and refreshing. i love the salmon here it's a huge piece of salmon. they don't try to stuff you with rice . The chefs are so kind and they always make sure my plate it full . I love the service here . The bar is my fav because i can peek over and see what they are cooking up !

Yelp
I brought my 11-year-old daughter in here because I saw online that there was a discounted price for children with the all you can eat sushi. We came in here and looked at the menu and the menu also reflected that there was a lower price for children. After we ate, I got the bill and I was charged the adult price for both myself and daughter. Online it shows that Children up to 11 years old get the discounted price. The menu has been since updated and does not have an age limit specified for the children's price. When I confronted the server about it, she told me that it is for nine and under. How many 9-year-olds do you know that order all you can eat sushi? It's like she just made a number up looking at my child and guessed that she was older than nine. Honestly, not the best sushi either, but that was not my complaint. The customer service was lousy. They did not even offer to make things right. If you are going to charge a child full price for all you can eat sushi than please don't advertise on the menu that you have a discount for children. I never write bad reviews. But at this point I am simply appalled. I will not eat here again.

Yelp
10/10 every----single---time! There is no sushi spot in Reno/Sparks that comes close to Hiroba! Each roll is very different from the last. The fish is super fresh! Must try the ceviche roll, Casanova, odd future, and the yakiton appetizer is . We always get great service, too! The ambiance is nice. It's clean and open.

Yelp
I haven't gone to Hiroba ever since the big move and change, but so glad we finally got the chance to! We were originally going to another sushi joint, but that place closed early and I had a craving for sushi. So I wanted to try something different. This place was just as good as I remember! Smaller place, but we got here for dinner fairly early (around 4:30) so we were seated right away. I don't even have a favorite roll from that evening, because everything we ordered was so tasty! They were also friendly with my one year old, who's just walking everywhere now. I asked for an order of gyoza (a la carte) for him, and they didn't even charge us (*cough Kei Sushi can take a lesson from them cough*). We'll definitely be returning!

Yelp
Yummy! Great service! Will definitely be back! Mussels were so fresh and the sushi was to die for! Tried tons of new things and all were so fresh with distinguishing tastes to each roll! The place was super packed but with the way service was going you couldn't tell unless you looked around! She was running around and making sure all was taken care of! THANK YOU!

Yelp
The food is decent, but the tiniest of portions! The staff is friendly, and the place is close to home, but still, it would be nice not to have miniature portions:)

Yelp
I really miss the old spot. I saw the name, got excited to try it after being a big fan of the old one. I heard the partners split, one kept the name, the other kept the location. I tried the same location after the rename and it was decent, but not the same. Now it was time to try the one that did keep the name to see if it held up. Unfortunately I left disappointed. Service was good and quick, but the rolls were not the same and the flavor wasn't either. The rolls itself were tiny, which is good because you can try a lot of them, but it also means there is also very little filling in it. They are calling them maki rolls which is probably why they are so small, which is traditionally very minimal and small, but I didn't know that going in. For instance you may have a roll where the only thing inside is one tempura shrimp, that's it inside, with maybe a little crab on top. It made the rolls just seem so sad. I don't mind traditional maki rolls, but the whole roll menu was that. The nigiri was a better option to go with as its more fish and decent flavor, but not amazing. The hand rolls much like the maki rolls were really thin and barely had anything inside. My spicy scallop hand roll was cooked scallops too which I did not expect. It gets the job done in a pinch, but I don't think i'll be back.

Yelp
For #thankfulthursday I decided to post a review of one of our favorite sushi places in town. It's been hard staying up with reviews due to the state of the world and I should have reviewed sooner but here we are. About 2 weeks ago, we decided to order take out - sushi was the menu. Everywhere we called (close to us in Spanish Springs) was closed. Just when we thought all hope was lost, we remembered Hiroba is now in Sparks so we called, placed an order and less than an hour later, were enjoying some much needed sushi. We couldn't believe how delicious and fresh every single piece was. Our faves (which we ordered of course) include tempura upside down shrimp, the Guapo, Godzilla, Lulu and more! Their service like always, impeccable. We can't wait to return for all you can eat so we can have some green tea ice cream.

Yelp
The last two times have just been a complete fail. Absolutely not worth your money. Try any other sushi place & save yourself the trouble.

Yelp
Hey everybody the Reno Reviewer putting my two cents in on Hiroba sushi's let's get started. Off the bat came here for dinner the atmosphere was very nice the staff was super amazing super friendly whoever put the playlist had some great music throughout my whole meal. The food was amazing the mussels where cooked very well juicy not dry or to chewy, the rolls where the perfect size not to big like other restaurants you can definitely eat more then four rolls to yourself the hand rolls were amazing as well. The miso soup could have used a little more flavor tasted really bland. For dessert I ordered a green tea cheesecake first time ever having a cheesecake that flavor, it was so delicious a must try for sure when you come in, I really wanted a second slice next time though lol. Overall a great experience and great food 5 stars most definitely

Yelp
Decided to try another sushi place. Probably not a good idea to drag a person that really didn't want sushi...across town...(it wasn't me)...I only ate a half sandwich for lunch so I could enjoy a new place. Arrived just before dinner time 5 p.m., and a few people were eating. The service was attentive and friendly. The music was good, The sushi brought out was probably the fastest we've ever had, along with the appetizers. At first they said they were al out of the hamachi Kama, so I asked for the salmon cheek. A few minutes later they were able to find the last one? Probably the tiniest in the ocean.. Rolls were decent, but could not even detect any sushi vinegar taste or smell, which is crucial to one who was wanting sushi.... I think next time we will just stay closer to our house.

Yelp
The paradise rolls were 100/10. The service here was absolutely incredible. Especially the servers. They were super nice to my non English speaking family. I love the bilingual servers. I licked the plate top to bottom. No rice or rolls were found on the plate. Would totally recommend. Love how there was no limit. Felt like I could eat forever. If you want to spend some time with your family, this the place to do it!!

Yelp
We figure we should give this place a try. You walk in and right away THEY (All employees) greed you with a loud and funny "HELLO"!!!! Got our seat right away (at the bar). The food looks fresh and yummy. The server is ready for you right away as well. Environment is friendly, nice decor. The menu is pretty straight forward. Right away I notice the menu is pretty similar to everywhere else... Except for a few house special rolls such as the TUNDRA, SNOW MOUNTAIN, SUN FLOWER, CHALLENGE, SPARKS, etc. Worth to get right to it! By the way, if you like mussels like I do, you will love it because it is UNLIMITED appetizers. Only reason why I gave 4 stars was because the person making our food, he seemed very professional and fast, but he must been having a bad day or something. He had a little attitude. Even when I asked for a suggestion of substitute for spicy tuna on one of the rolls, he answer was "you choose"... So not much help there. Other than that, great experience.
