"The upscale Downtown restaurant Fixe has opened a more casual sister spot in The Arboretum. The Southern menu offers an all-day breakfast, and the lunch and dinner options include crawfish mac and cheese, gumbo, a po'boy, and collard greens." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs
"Hissy Fit is the kind of place you want to have in your neighborhood. This casual Southern café in The Arboretum is from the team behind Fixe, the Downtown spot known for its biscuits and fancy Southern food. Here, things are more laid-back—counter service, a bright and airy space in a building formerly occupied by Corner Bakery, and a menu that leans heavy on breakfast and lunch comfort food. In a city stacked with great Southern eats, Hissy Fit is more of a “glad it’s here” than a reason to cross town. Still, parking is plentiful, dishes come out quickly, and the food is reliably good. The triple-fat buttermilk biscuits are a high point (and a tongue twister), and the shrimp po’boy makes for a satisfying entrée, especially when paired with a side of roasted sweet potatoes with pecan salsa macha. There’s also a duck confit melt if you want something a little richer, plus some lighter options like a grain bowl and a kale salad that make this a viable choice for a casual midday meetup. Food Rundown Biscuits These are rich and buttery, and they're served with a trio of dips—butter, honey, and fruit preserves. If you only get one thing here, it should be these. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Fried Green Tomatoes The breading is pretty thick on these. They’re not our favorite version of the dish, but they’ll do. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Spicy Crawfish Dip Our dip had a thick layer of solid cheese at the top and a pool of liquid below, making it difficult to eat. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Roasted Cabbage Salad This salad with Thai vinaigrette was a highlight of the meal. The texture on the cabbage is great, and the dressing adds a spicy punch, though we’re not entirely sure how it fits the restaurant’s theme. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Duck Confit Melt The duck confit is very rich—and the cheese makes it even richer—but it’s a pretty tasty sandwich. Just make sure you don’t have any important meetings after lunch. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Nicolai McCrary

The all-day menu features those biscuits as well as breakfast and lunch plates (think pancakes and crawfish mac and cheese), sandwiches, and drinks. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Brittany Britto Garley, Nadia Chaudhury
