The Best New Restaurants in Austin, March 2025

"Downtown Southern finer-dining restaurant Fixe opened this casual sibling cafe up in the Arboretum in early October. The all-day menu features those biscuits as well as breakfast and lunch plates (think pancakes and crawfish mac and cheese), sandwiches, and drinks. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Brittany Britto Garley, Nadia Chaudhury

If you like southern comfort food with a unique twist, this is the place for you. We went for the first time last Sunday. Everything from the wedge salad to the Mac and Cheese to the cinnamon roll and more were each unique and delicious. We went back yesterday. My wife had the Roasted Cabbage (with shrimp) while I tried the burger with fries. It was all delicious. I couldn’t help myself so I also ordered the wedge salad (which is sprinkled with crispy fried rice) and the cinnamon roll again.

I recently visited Hissy Fit in Austin, and I had a great experience! It's a place I'd recommend. The food was excellent, and the biscuits were especially memorable—they were truly outstanding. Our lattes were also quite flavorful and enjoyable. Beyond the delicious food and drinks, the service was notably quick, and every member of the staff was exceptionally friendly. It was a really pleasant atmosphere. If you're in Austin and looking for a fantastic meal with great service, Hissy Fit is certainly worth a visit.

I'm writing this review whilst still sat at the table outside having just finished my Breakfast Bowl with Bacon. The Breakfast Bowl was very tasty with a good mix of ingredients and was the perfect size for a person with a normal body mass index. I cleaned my plate without feeling bloated or wanting more. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, they even dried the chairs outside for me when I wanted to sit there after a night of rain because it was a little bit warmer than inside with the air-conditioning. I won't hesitate to come back and eat here again.

Fried oysters and coleslaw were phenomenal! Crispy chicken sandwich and sweet potatoes were delicious. And “The Lunchbox” drink was outstanding. Best whiskey concoction I’ve had. Food came quickly and staff were attentive (sat at the bar). Will definitely be back. Thanks for the great dinner and service!

We will not be returning. It is a nice looking place but the food is just okay and the service is non-existant. Did not feel like I got my money's worth here. I ordered an app, 2 sandwiches, 2 sides, and a dessert. My total with tip was, embarrassingly, more than if I had gone to the nearby Brazilian steakhouse. I had the grouper sandwich, which was a bit over cooked (chewy) and messy but mostly tasty. My wife had the Cuban which was overly grilled so the ham was hard in some places. We had the smoked fish dip app, which is a southern favorite of ours in other places. Here it was made with smoked salmon, not really appealing. The brussels were good if a bit on the oily side. The mac and cheese had a runny sauce but was sorely lacking in cheese. It did have some raw veggies in it for a nice crunch but they cooled the dish off so it felt more like a pasta salad than a warm mac and cheese. The crayfish in it were well cooked. We were divided on the biscuits but we both agreed they were a bit over done. I liked them (but then I love all biscuits, really) they reminded my wife a little too much of freezer biscuits. The service was the worst fail of the evening. Apparently you can only get your drinks refilled if you go to the bar. Most of the staff refused to even acknowledge my presence and the person I was told was the manager decidedly avoided me. Note that they only had three tables seated. We ate our app with no drinks. I had to find some kitchen staff to get drinks. Even then no one returned to refill our drinks. To be fair they may be having staffing issues. The one staff member who would talk to me (not the person I was told was the manager) said that two people had called out and that they were mostly a counter service place with limited bar service. Rather crummy given how elegantly the place is decorated and the cost of the meal.

Google
It was a nice quiet lunch experience, I thought the music playing was a little odd for the setting of the restaurant, it was very clean and neat inside. Food was ok the Mac & cheese was kinda runny and not as cheesy as I expected from a “southern” restaurant. The fish sandwich I had was ok but lacked a lot of flavor most of the food was pretty bland in my opinion. The drinks were really good. I was excited to know they serve breakfast all day but then i saw they only had grits as a dinner option which was pretty disappointing since it’s somewhat a breakfast staple, would’ve been nice if I could order grits as a side. Paying over $80 and not leaving full from “southern food” was also a bit odd to me. I would probably go back to try their dinner & see if it’s better or just for drinks & not so much to eat. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Google
My sister and I found this place while going to Trader Joe’s and decided to try it out! Let me tell you guys they did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and packed with flavor! The biscuits are AMAZING!!! The only thing is I loved the remoulade but I probably will just ask for straight mayo on the poboy next visit. If you’ve been thinking about trying this place definitely give them a go!!!!

I live close by and often eat here. Usually I get my breakfast orders to go on my way into work. I have also stayed to eat a few times as well. Every single time I’ve engaged with the staff they have been so kind and personable. It’s really nice to see genuine people here. The food is absolutely incredible. My favorite is the shrimp and grits special they have sometimes. For breakfast I have an obsessed on with the Bukowski sandwhich. Y’all, I’m telling you it’s the best breakfast sandwhich I’ve ever had. And the cinnamon rolls are absolutely killing it. I had to buy a dozen to share with my work associates. They are a little crispy on the outside, soft and dense on the inside. I stopped in to order cinnamon rolls to go and met with Oscar at the counter. He was so kind and genuine and very helpful. I appreciated the short chat we had while I waited for my order. These folks are all so fantastic. I hope to eventually make it in for more dinners when my schedule allows it! Thank you all for making the atmosphere so welcoming for a solo gal to eat alone sometimes!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, decor, friendly staff. Location is perfect especially if you want to have great food and avoid Domaine. The food was very delicious and thought out. The cocktails were also perfectly yummy! Everything screamed southern!

Yelp
I just discovered Hissy Fit in north Austin! It's wonderful! Best biscuits ever. And their fruit preserves are amazing. I also sampled the Brussel sprouts. They are so yummy. I will be back. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I will be back!!!

Yelp
Hissy Fit is in the Arboretum shopping center. It's southern comfort food. You place your order at a counter as you walk in and they then bring the food to your table. We were greeted by Mary who took our order. She is very friendly and knows the menu well. We ordered the deviled eggs, fried oysters, Mac and Cheese, quinoa salad with shrimp, a wedge salad, a biscuit and a cinnamon roll. Nothing I just mentioned gives you any reason to wonder. The dishes are all names you recognize. And yet, each and everyone turned out to be delightfully unexpected. The deviled eggs had dab of Chinese chili sauce that gave them a little kick. The Mac and Cheese was warm, soft wand gooey just as you'd expect but then was covered in bread crumbs making it slightly crunchy. The quinoa salad was delicious. The wedge salad had a tangy ranch dressing and was sprinkled with fried and thus crunchy rice. We left stuffed and will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
So much charm! I love short and thoughtful menus! There is so much Southern charm packed into this menu. The restaurant was really clean. I enjoyed the kitchen being somewhat open. The wait staff was so kind. The bathroom was clean as well. I came on a very rainy day and didn't have to wait super long for my food. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Breakfast bowl(brown rice, sweet potato, egg, sausage, avocado, kale, and pimento aioli)- I loved how I could choose between sausage and bacon. The sausage was well done, fresh, and can tell it was made by hand. I love a good country sausage. The aioli was a nice touch. This bowl was filling and packed with flavor , yet it made me feel like I mad a healthier choice. Pancake - the pancake was fluffy and huge. I enjoyed it! I can definitely see myself visiting again with friends

Yelp
Y'all gotta go here! I kept seeing this pop up in my Instagram and I'm a lover of biscuits so I had to try it. And breakfast all day? HELL YA! The biscuits are incredible. Light, flaky, buttery, and oh so delicious. Plan ahead and get extras to go. The Old Fashioned sandwich has thick delicious maple sausage that complement the egg and cheese... I want to go back and try them all! The cinnamon roll was incredible. They bake it hot to order and you're gonna burn your mouth because you can't stop eating. I'm a huge fan of bear claws and you just don't see them much anymore. And never have I ever seen one baked hot to order. LORD that was so amazing! The right amount of flavor and flakiness... worth it for sure. The table next to us got the pancakes and I legit almost asked for a bite. We're for sure going back to try them! Overall a cute restaurant, very well done decor. For counter service they really spent the money on making it pretty. Oh and the service, OUTSTANDING! Everyone checking on you, friendly hellos, refilling drinks... felt like a friendly neighborhood spot run by a family everyone knows and loves. Well done. A new favorite spot for us for sure!

Yelp
HISSY FIT - A Hidden Gem Worth Every Crumb Quality of Food From the very first bite, Hissy Fit delivers. We tried the Standard Biscuit, the Bukowski Sandwich, and the Cinnamon Roll--and each one earned its spot on the must-try list. The bacon was cooked to crispy perfection, eggs were fresh and masterfully prepared, and the texture of each item hit that sweet spot between comforting and craveable. The biscuits? Buttery, flaky, and hands-down delicious. And let's talk about the aioli on the Bukowski: rich, flavorful, and the kind of condiment that makes you want to lick the wrapper. The cinnamon roll was a standout--perfectly balanced with just enough crunch on the outside and a delicate glaze that didn't overpower. Not too bready, not too sweet--just right. Execution like this is rare. Priice: What you get is appropriate portion size, high-quality ingredients, and a level of culinary care that makes every dollar feel well-spent. In a world of overpriced mediocrity, this place is priced just right and the quality amazing. Service Although not a full-service restaurant, the team at Hissy Fit went above and beyond. They checked on us multiple times, ensured we had everything we needed, and even brought out a water bowl for our pup without being asked--major points. The manager personally checked in as well, which shows a level of care and culture you can't fake. Friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. This is hospitality done right. Environment Whether you're catching up with friends, sneaking in a casual date, or grabbing brunch with the family, Hissy Fit's vibe works. It's relaxed but not lazy. Music at the right volume. Not overly crowded or chaotic. Bonus: they have two outdoor tables, perfect if you're dining with a dog. It's cozy, clean, and feels intentional--welcoming without trying too hard. Final Verdict: Hissy Fit is the kind of place you find once and return to often. Flavors that stay with you, service that feels like home, and a price point that respects your wallet. Whether you're a biscuit loyalist or a cinnamon roll romantic, you'll leave satisfied--and planning your next visit. Must try.

Yelp
This is definitely a hidden gem! The inside is clean and gives modern southern vibes. The staff is incredibly attentive and kind. The manager went out of their way to check in on us and show my friend tea options. Went for brunch and got the breakfast bowl with sausage, biscuit, and honey lavender latte. All tasted freshly made and so flavorful. The biscuit with the whipped butter and lemon blueberry preserves was beyond amazing! Can't wait to return for dinner!

Yelp
No reservation needed, as you walk up to the counter to order and then you are seated. Tip: review the menu before you get to the counter so that way ordering is smoother and quicker. They have $10 burger Fridays so I gave it a try. The burger was good but I did not like the taste of the pickles. The fries were delicious, The brussel sprouts were yummy, The deviled eggs were really good and the star of the show was the house made lemonade. I cannot wait to go back for the breakfast menu and try those homemade biscuits. They look delicious.

Yelp
After working to 2 am yesterday, I had a late breakfast. When you're working from home sometimes you lose track of time. Hissy Fit's butter biscuit danced in my head this morning. I opted for an Old Fashioned Breakfast Biscuit and Chai latte. The biscuit sandwich was substantial with a large piece sausage and large serving of eggs complemented by homemade blueberry preserves. As I side note, I am not to fund of blueberries, however, the blueberry preserves were the bomb diggity. I initially ordered a chai latte, but it was too chai laden, so I reordered the honey lavender latte. It was quite soothing to drink...enjoyed it very much. I was one of few people in the restaurant. It gave me time to collect my thoughts and mentally plan my day. I sat at the bar with another patron and ironically, we ordered the same item. Hissy Fit has ample indoor and limited outdoor seating. Another great experience at Hissy Fit.

Yelp
If you've been to Fixe Southern House, then you already know how incredible their biscuits are and their sister restaurant, Hissy Fit absolutely delivers the same delicious biscuits with all the fixins and so much more! The vibe is a bit more casual here, with easy parking and counter service for both food and drinks before you grab a seat. The menu is divided between breakfast and lunch, and since we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon we did a little of both! Of course we had to start with an order of biscuits, and we also tried a few sandwiches both the Cajun Po'boy and the Cubano were fantastic. Everything was packed with flavor and paired perfectly with our cocktails the Frozen Hurricane and the Delta Blues. And I can't forget the Sticky Banana Date Cake as it was rich, gooey, and honestly pushed me over the edge in the best way possible. They also offer a full coffee menu along with salads and grain bowls for those looking for lighter options. But honestly, do yourself a favor and come here on a day when you're not counting calories as it's absolutely worth it!

Yelp
I loved everything about my first visit to Hissy Fit! The decor is incredibly pretty, and there's a ton of seating. Orders are taken up at the counter, but the service afterwards was definitely more than I expected without traditional table service. The guy who brought our food out checked in on how things were and then came back again later on to ask if we needed any boxes. I ordered the duck confit sandwich, and--to be honest--when it came out, I was slightly disappointed by how it looked. It had a plain looking bun, a big square of wilted cheese, lots of jalapenos, a thick tomato slice, and the duck looked like it might be dry. I was 100% wrong to doubt it. Incredibly juicy, delicious, perfect balance of all the flavors, and the jalapenos were pickled (my favorite!!) The bread bun was so soft and airy too, and had a little crunch inside from being grilled so it didn't get soggy. I seriously couldn't get enough of it. I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner, then wished I had the second half to eat for lunch the next day. My first visit will definitely not be my last, but I don't know how I'll choose between getting the duck sandwich again or exploring the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Dropped in for a weeknight happy hour/dinner with some friends and was surprised at how casual this spot is. Don't let that fool you, though - they cook up some good comfort food! You order at the counter and then seat yourself anywhere and they'll bring out waters and your food and drinks. The only downside to this laidback service style is you have to flag someone down to get you water refills (there's no self-serve station) or if you need anything. The menu offers breakfast all day along with the regular lunch/dinner options. I really enjoy that you have both options! Overall everything we ordered was pretty tasty and I look forward to revisiting. The biscuits, cinnamon roll, and po boy are their popular items. Well worth trying! QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, plenty of parking! - Reservations? No, just walk in! - Happy hour? Yes, weekdays from 2-6pm - $10 apps, cocktails, and glasses of wine! FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - Strawberry rhubarb matcha (4/5): They must have forgotten the strawberry rhubarb because I didn't taste anything other than matcha, but it was really good matcha! - Fried green tomatoes (5/5): This was delicious! I looove the pimiento cheese with it. So good! - Crawfish mac and cheese (4/5): Pretty solid, has a nice little kick to it. Sauce was good. - Bean and cheese biscuit empanada (3/5): My least favorite thing but it wasn't bad. Just not for me. - Shrimp po boy (4/5): Pretty tasty! They source their bread from Louisiana. Shrimp were giant and well-fried. - Buttermilk biscuits (5/5): Delish!!! Flaky, buttery, warm, and so good. Classic and perfect.

Yelp
Hissy Fit has a welcoming vibe, with large front windows and a fresh, modern-meets-stylish aesthetic that seamlessly blends different design elements. The restaurant was playing lively, upbeat jazz music, adding to the inviting atmosphere. I love that upon entering, there are menus available for you to pick up and browse before heading to the hostess stand to order. While you place your order upfront, there's plenty of seating, and they bring your food to your table. I ordered a biscuit and an espresso macchiato to go. The coffee came out quickly--strong and hot, exactly what I was hoping for. All biscuits are fresh and made to order which is unique and great to see! Now let's get into the biscuit -From my first bite, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. This is what i'm looking for when i say I want a fresh, made to order biscuit - it had the perfect level of crispy outer and soft inner with a delicious taste. It also comes with butter, honey, and fruit preserves on the side. The butter was whipped and had a flavor and i loved it. I personally enjoyed combining the butter and honey on my biscuit as i ate. And I must say the staff and service were friendly. I recommend giving Hissy Fit a visit.

Yelp
Decided to stop in for an early lite dinner! Took advantage of their happy hour prices as well. Ordered their Cajun Cubano Specialty Sandwich. Thin crispy bread, extremely flavorful bringing out all the Cuban flavors you want in this type of sandwich. My favorite was the thin bread. I ordered as a side the Sweet Roasted Potatoes. They were cooked to perfection but a bit too oily for me. Ordered a nice Rose Wine to pair with. The service was great! Glad I arrived early as it got busy quick.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely delicious!! My friends and I enjoyed every single bite. Not pictured but we also ordered the bread pudding and a cinnamon roll which were also spot on and tasty! Service was friendly and quick. The restaurant is nicely decorated with lots of seating! I cannot wait to be back to try some of the breakfast foods.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar even though I've never been to it's fancier restaurant sibling. Also, it's an hour from my ranch in Driftwood. That's right, Rancho Del Rooster established (at least in name 2007). We happened to be staying north in between family events. GF and I decided to seek other food instead of the not so great looking complimentary hotel breakfast. We headed towards The Arboretum to give them a shot. Here's the "Country Bumpkin" take on Hissy Fit. It unfortunately screams "WE'RE NOT FAST CASUAL" but in truth I don't think HF knows what it is yet. Felt FC to me even with the fancy bar. Order at the counter, FC. No soda machine is an attempt at not FC. Ice machine...FC..just call Coke or Pepsi already. Moving onto the experience the order taker completely missed part of my order. The made to order biscuit with preserves for $4. We've gotten our SEC delivered by the kitchen. GF has gotten her drink from the bar. We dive into the soft biscuit with advertised maple sausage, egg, and cheese. Egg did look suspiciously FC not gonna lie. I will stress this was great food. Didn't try the provided hot sauce on this visit so next time. And, now we're waiting for the other biscuit. We're trying to decide how long this biscuit is gonna take because made to order. FINALLY, ask the order taker who admitted missing it. We waited for nothing. Didn't miss my GF's $15 cocktail! Seems just like FC because they got the order wrong; didn't offer to fix the situation either. Final rant and it's a big one...GRAVY. You call yourself a "Southern Restaurant" and it's not an option? Hey Hissy Fit peeps, I could have saved $20 today by skipping you and going to Whataburger because gravy.

Yelp
This place serves delicious Southern breakfast food, and they have their breakfast menu available all day! I'm not normally a biscuit fan, but the Bukowski biscuit sandwich I got was so flavorful! I love the pickles they added in there. The size was just right for me and I didn't feel like I was overeating carbs. Each deviled egg is $3. I got two of them and they tasted amazing. The dishes are really pretty-I feel like I'm at a fancy restaurant, but it is definitely a casual restaurant. Fried green tomatoes and crawfish Mac and cheese are yummy. If you love cheese, then these dishes are the ones to get! Utensils, napkins, and water/tea are self serve in the corner. Service is great. Our server took initiative on giving us extra plates to share our food. They checked up on us a few times to ask if the food was good. The restaurant is hugeee-there are so many tables and chairs. I can really see it being nice breakfast place, although I came during dinner hours. They don't take reservations. Plenty of parking spaces. My friend got the Po Boy and it looks great too. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Finally seeing the doors open to Hissy Fit after reading about them. Went over for breakfast-feel like the options are pretty scant. I was going to get their breakfast burrito but saw it had sweet potatoes so decided to get their Old Fashioned and the Bukowski biscuit sandwiches and got a side of just their biscuits, and since it was breakfast, a cortado. The space was nice-far more spacious than it looks like from the outside and they put a lot of thought into creating a lot of space. I had my dog with me so I had to sit outside but they found us easily. Olivia took my order offered to watch my dog if I wanted to sit inside, but I couldn't do that to my pup. The Old Fashioned and the Bukowski came out first. The Old Fashioned has a maple sausage and you could actually taste the sweetness without being overpowered by it; a good sign, usually that means the flavor didn't come from some lab injection. Another good sign? It came with a little ramekin of hot sauce. Perfection. I'm know sure the connection between underground LA writers but that mustard aioli went really well with the ham. Our biscuits arrived last but were great-and tasted better than our sandwich biscuits. Keith, one of the owners came around and explained that the biscuits are cooked to order-thus the long wait but the sandwich biscuits are par-baked to get that fluffiness. Mystery solved, and it was nice to have someone come and check on us.

Yelp
A pretty cool brunch spot but I was not overly impressed. It was my first time visiting and I wish I would've gotten a bit more direction on how to order and the seating arrangements. The food was decent, but nothing to call home about.

Yelp
Hissy fit has a menu that sounds amazing. Unfortunately the food and the service missed the mark. Firstly the prices are pretty steep for bare minimum items. I don't mind paying premiums if the food is premium, but this was not our experience. I ordered the pancakes and was hoping for excellent flavors. They were nothing special at all. They were fluffy but bland. My husband had a biscuit sandwich and he said it was ok at best. He's had much better biscuits in Austin for the same and lower costs. I wanted a side of the deviled eggs and was told I couldn't order them because they were a lunch item. Ok fine, that's a bummer but whatever, I got a side of eggs over medium instead. When we sat down the table next to me had the deviled eggs!! What! I went back to the counter and was told oh, yeah you can't order them my manager said no. Kind of ridiculous. The restaurant is very cute. I love the wall paper and decor. It's definitely very instagramy.
google avatar

Brandon K.

Yelp
I seem to be saying this a lot lately, but as long as you are comfortable and able to pay a premium for quality food, you will be quite happy. Hissy Fit falls directly into this category with their breakfast and lunch assortment. We came in around brunch time on a Sunday and were able to get a table without a wait. The space is nice and bright, and has a really nice atmosphere all around. We ordered the breakfast bowl, breakfast burrito, and two biscuits. All were spectacular, the bowl was the highlight. The sausage tasted like it was freshly ground that morning. My only minor negative was that I wish the burrito had more to it. It was pretty thin and if I didn't have the biscuits, I would probably still be hungry. As always, the biscuits are incredible, and I would highly recommend getting them as a side to your meal. Overall, the food tasted fresh, the staff were friendly, and the place is very inviting.

Yelp
Hissy Fit was so good we went twice this week!! The coffee, matcha, and chai are all great! The bear claw is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Hubby had the breakfast burrito and the brown butter pancakes. We loved it all! The staff is always so nice, efficient, and accommodating! The space itself is beautifully decorated and clean! Fun place for a drink or a meal!!

Yelp
Cute new find! You walk in and order at the counter and then go have a seat. Plenty of seating inside with benches and tables. The gentleman taking our order was very knowledgeable and gave us a whole rundown on the menu and how things worked. Not your traditional service. They have a really cool Drink station and they do have a bar. Lots of drink options. They do not have regular soda machine like Dr Pepper but they do offer bottle drinks like Mexican cola, etc.. The food was great! Kind of a combination of southern and Cajun. Their biscuits are so good! Their syrup was delicious to dip the biscuit in. Fried green tomatoes were good. The fish sandwich smelled a little fishy, but it did not taste fishy at all it was very fresh tasting. Staff was great, inside was very clean and very cutely decorated, even the bathrooms were super and very cute. Over all very good food for any time of the day!

Yelp
Great spot with great eats at all times! Sandwiches are not too salty with great balance between the protein and veggies/sauce. Appetizers very flavorful but lean towards stronger salt/fat/acid sensation. Overall had a great experience here. Service was fast and the restaurant's theme is very clearly Southern influenced, which was cool to see. Had the filet o fish and fried chicken sandwich which were both well balanced - loved the veggie spread that went into both of them too. Fish was light and flaky with a nice fresh flavor, and the chicken was wonderfully fried without much extra oil or greasy texture. I also had a strawberry rhubarb matcha - but it was overall just a light matcha (not much strawberry or rhubarb flavor) but it wasn't bad. Would prefer maybe 15% stronger? Overall looking forward to coming back here to try more items!!

Yelp
New place in Arboretum. We stopped in because, well it's new, with New Orleans flair, and that cannot stand! Super nice staff, and well appointed. I can see this is going to be a neighborhood restaurant/bar. Lots of tables, a few booths, and nice counter. It' has a Busicut theme. Breakfast bacon egg and dinner fried chicken biscuit. I had the pork chop special which did not have a biscuit, but had a delicious sauce and cooked to perfection. The chicken biscuit slammed. I'll be back. As a matter of fact, I'm back again for the breakfast biscuit today. Sat at counter and had the bacon egg biscuit. Also had fun chatting with Taylor's and Curren. It's a fun place.

Yelp
Appetizers and sides are all amazing. The deviled eggs are divine. Mm. The adult drinks and coffee are also good. The ambiance and service are phenomenal. The entrees leave a little to be desired, but we'll most likely be back (for the vibes).

Yelp
4.5 stars The breakfast bowl was pretty good but I probably could've used less oil at the bottom of the bowl. The eggs and avocado plus the sweet potatoes were delicious. The matcha latte here is quite good as well without any syrups. We also got the fried oysters that were nicely doused in some mustard and very crispy.

Yelp
I've been looking forward to trying this place since I saw the new sign go up. Popped in to grab a coffee on Sunday. The interior is cute. Menu looks really good, I think I will go back for brunch, probably not for a coffee on the go. The Nutella latte was ok, I feel overpriced for what it was, but tasted ok. If you're in a hurry, this is not your spot, they were not in a rush, slow service. But friendly.

Yelp
Hissy fit was such a cute place to have breakfast on our quick trip to Texas in November. Found it on yelp because it was close to Trader Joes! They are set up for efficiency, walk in, order food, take a number and sit down. Then your food comes out fairly quickly! All the food looked amazing but I decided on a cinnamon roll, my friends ordered a deviled egg, bacon, and a biscuit which came with 3 amazing sauces, and my other friend ordered a biscuit sandwich. Everything was good, we had a wonderful breakfast and ended up staying longer than we anticipated.

Yelp
It's worth the wait. The place is very cute. Perfect for a cozy dinner or lunch. We had dinner with our little one and the place was so nice. The service was great and the food was so warm and fresh. The drinks tasted a little off but everything tasted great that we didn't even care. It did take longer than I expected to get the food but it was super good.

Yelp
Come for the bear claw, stay for the charming interior and friendly service. Seriously, the bear claw is the best pastry I've consumed in years. Made-to-order with the incredible biscuit dough Fixe is known for plus homemade almond paste, this is the stuff of carb loading dreams. It's massive, so you might consider sharing with a few friends. I've only been for a coffee date and brunch, so I can't speak to the lunch/dinner menu. I didn't love the breakfast bowl - the flavors felt like they were competing in a not so tasty way. My dining mates were happy with their picks though, so I may have made an ordering misfire. I'm glad that Hissy Fit joined the Arboretum dining landscape - the former Corner Bakery has had a glow-up!

Yelp
A friend invited me here for their wine tasting event. I have never been before. This place is kind of far but it's worth the trip. The wine tasting was $10 and we got to try 4 different types of wine. I only tried 2 because 4 was too much. The event also includes cute little appetizers like fried green tomatoes, biscuits, deviled eggs, etc. the food tasted really great and I love that you were allowed to get as much as you want. The actual restaurant is very cute inside. It's perfect for a date night or a girls night out. All the servers were so nice. I do think I want to go here again to try some of their actual food. This is definitely worth a try if you've never been.

Yelp
Hissy Fit is a great blend between southern comfort and healthy eats. The place is cute and cosy. It's self serve where you order in the front and they delivered food to your table. Service was adequate. The cabbage salad was delicious and the signature biscuit was amazing must-try. I'm usually not big on biscuits but this one was crispy and not too doughy. It also came with 3 condiments. Will be back to try all the other dishes.

Yelp
My green bowl was very good, if not a little underwhelming on flavor. However, the hot sauce made up for that. The biscuits are tasty, but again, not much going on with flavor. The fresh made jam was amazing and brought everything up a level. I understand Austin pricing, especially with hand crafted items, but $4 for a small Topo Chico bottle is ridiculous.

Yelp
Love, love, love Hissy Fit. Out of this world biscuits & breakfast sandwiches! Everything we've tried on the menu we love. The staff is also super attentive & friendly, can't recommend this spot enough.

Yelp
I have found my favorite NW restaurant. Hissy Fit is amazing. The fried green tomatoes are the best in town (and I order them everywhere I go). The pimento cheese is the classic Olamaies,' recipe - delish! There are some nice vegetable sides. The green beans are gigantic and taste fresh from the garden. The mustard dressing was not too tart or sweet. The cocktail menu is quite fun and creative. The frozen drink was not too sugary. Service is polite and very friendly. We enjoyed visiting with the staff! I also think the decor is cute. I will be dining here frequently. They also have breakfast all day.

Yelp
This is a quick-service restaurant, so you order at the counter and they tell you where to sit to get your food and drinks delivered. The decor is cute and I appreciated the fresh flowers on each table. Here's our review of the food: Cappuccino with extra shot $8- husband said it was good. Solid Cap. Pecan Chai $7- mostly milk, very little chai flavor and I don't know what pecan orgeat is supposed to taste like but I'm pretty sure I didn't taste it. I was underwhelmed. Cinnamon roll $6- it's made with biscuit dough, which is unique. It's really soft and sweet and we enjoyed the novelty. If you love the insides of cinnamon rolls like I do, I suggest you try it. Old fashioned and Standard biscuit sandwiches- $10 each- the eggs were fresh and actually tasty on their own, which is more than most restaurants can accomplish. The maple sausage was very tender and flavorful, and my husband appreciated the crispy, abundant bacon. The biscuits were good. A little smaller than I expected for $10, but they were tasty. The American cheese, however, was definitely a fail on a $10 breakfast biscuit. I hate how American cheese sticks to the back of my teeth, and the flavor added nothing to the other elements. Cheddar or a smoked Gouda would have been a better choice. Service was good, though a little slow for the number of guests and the number of cooks in the kitchen. Everyone was really nice though, and the working atmosphere appeared positive and constructive. I'm not sure we'll be back for breakfast unless someone wants to have $15 cocktails (not likely). It was ok, but nothing spectacular for the price. I was definitely underwhelmed overall. It would be good for a coffee date, though. They have a bear claw I want to try sometime.

Yelp
What an amazing place. The owner talked us through the menu. Seriously I cannot say enough good about this place. We just happened on to it near arboretum. We got oyster poboys with I think a horseradish mayo type sauce and crawfish mac n cheese with a nice little spicy bite of course the famous crunchy but softer inside biscuits yum. Then although pretty full we finished off with the bear claws. Okay the best I think I've ever had. Five stars for clean, friendly , delish and even the perfect day out too.

Yelp
I saw this place advertised on IG. Had to visit. They advertised it from a southern cooking perspective. When I initially walked in, I saw more of a southern café. I was wondering where the southern cooking would come from. The menu does have items that suggest southern home cooking. However, you have to walk up to a person at a register to order food. This is a negative thing for me since the place is actually a sit down restaurant. A line formed as I was ordering food at the register. I am happy that I walked in and went immediately to the register. I believe seeing the line as you walk in the door caused some people to walk back out. Hopefully this practice is temporary because they need to hire additional staff. The place was not packed so the serving staff was sufficient. They were very nice. The food was pretty good. I had a breakfast bowl that included beans and chopped yams. Would have to try them for dinner.

Yelp
Best avocado burrito, creamy and yummy. A bit overpriced but super good. Service was ok and the restaurant is nice with open seating. Lovely but very pricey.

Yelp
I enjoyed the ambiance of this cute little restaurant. It's an order and sit down style place. My friend and I came around 11-1130am during the weekend and shortly thereafter there was a long line so I recommend coming a bit earlier to avoid a wait. I had the brown sugar pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were a bit on the sweet side for me and the bacon was a little chewy. We also got a bottle of champagne for mimosas. It was $40, well worth it instead of paying $10 per mimosa. I would return and try the biscuit sandwich next time. My friend said it was really good!

Yelp
This is going to be a "hissy fit" of a review, because I was underwhelmed by the food Ordered the old fashioned biscuit with the egg and sausage. For $10, I was expecting a real fresh egg, but it was folded liquid egg product, the kind they serve at Comfort Inn for breakfast. Need to add salt and pepper, that way you don't have to give a free cup of hot sauce with this biscuit.

Yelp
The biscuit sandwich and cinnamon roll were delicious and our waitress was really sweet. There wasn't a wait and the space was clean and nice, especially for brunch. Definitely will return.

Yelp
This place is new and the food was tasty and fresh. I ordered the breakfast bowl. The pimento aioli was the best. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. They brought out a water bowl for the dogs. We sat on the patio, which was small but nice. French fries were crispy, warm, and delicious. There's plenty of seating inside. I will definitely be coming back. Great location too!

Yelp
I ordered the Catfish Po Boy and Fries, carry out. Total was $24. Portion size not worth the cost. If you're a hungry fella, it's not gonna fill you up. The fish filet was on the smaller side and thin. It had a strong dijon taste to it too. Fries were pretty good but very salty. Cashier was friendly. Nice looking place, but probably won't go back. If I'm paying that much for a sandwich and fries, hook it up.

Yelp
We were looking forward to trying out this place, since we've enjoyed Fixe in the past. Three of us ate here, and none of us could really put our finger on what they're trying to achieve. The food was all prepared well, but most of it was pretty pedestrian, especially for the price. I'm OK with paying higher prices, but you have to justify why you're charging it. The grilled green beans ($6) and red beans and rice ($8) were very run of the mill and not large portions for being kind of plain. The fried chicken sandwich was $16 and very good, but it didn't come with anything else and was on the small side for that much. For comparison, Shake Shack has an awesome $8 fried chicken sandwich, and you can add a heaping side of crinkle fries for $4. Probably the best value was the biscuit for $4/each. They come fresh baked to order with a side of honey, blueberry jam, and butter. I would've given them 3.5 stars but rounded up because the staff were all so nice and professional. We just don't get what they're trying to do there. The interior and ambiance is very nice, and the pricing says it wants to be high-end. But, you order at the counter with a backlit electric menu sign. Over half the menu is literally small plates (apps, sides) of meh dishes, but they have a nice bar with average $15 alcoholic drinks. If a friend asked me to meet them here for a bite, I would, but I wouldn't choose to come back on my own. Too bad. It's a good idea.

Yelp
The old fashion biscuit sandwich was great and the greens. This time around I tried th Delta Blues cocktail! Thumbs up !
