Hiya Wine Bar - Review - Roma - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"Hiya falls in line with the Japanese bar trend that’s taken over Mexico City, and we’re here for it. It’s not a speakeasy, but still tricky to find—walk past the well-known sushi spot (Yoru) until you see the expats and people who look like they moonlight as creative directors out front: a sake party awaits. They specialize in small plates, robata, and temakis, but the vongole ramen with salty, seafood-packed clam broth and homemade noodles is next level. The robatas are on the smaller side, but at the price, you can order a bunch and still not blow your budget. As for drinks, they’ve got an essential lineup: sake by the carafe or bottle, wines, and a solid cocktail lineup. The Kikumasamune sake carafe is a steal at $11 and perfect for sharing with someone special. For something more refreshing, get their yuzu lemonade that’s light, tangy, and perfectly tart." - Guillaume Guevara

Hiya Wine Bar was unassumingly amazing! Tucked away with a trendy chic vibe, this spot delivered on all fronts. The Japanese-style hand rolls and grilled skewers were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly executed. We loved the eclectic mix of natural wines, mezcals, and craft beers—everything felt thoughtfully curated. Service was warm and attentive. While it’s definitely best to have a reservation, we walked in just before the evening rush and were graciously seated. The music selection was on point, adding to the cool, cozy ambiance. Seating is a bit tight, but it just adds to the charm. Absolutely loved it here. Can’t wait to come back!

Fancy little speakeasy. The wife and I made reservations and went with some friends. The seating area is tiny so be advised if you are sensitive to small places. It's intimate due to the lack of space but the bites were delicious and we had a great time.

Food was great but did not warrant the expensive price at all. Drinks were solid but confusingly they didn't have a wine list, you just have to ask them and see what they give you. Skip.

I wasn’t sure about going to this place because of all negative reviews but honestly me and my girlfriend loved it, everything we ordered was delicious from the food to the drinks. We had a reservation so we walked right in and yes the space is small but there weren’t a lot of people that day so it seemed cozy and the ambience/music was perfect, also the waiter was very polite and attentive. It’s definitely not cheap but I think the taste and Quality of the food reflected the price so I don’t really understand the reviews saying it’s overpriced. Overall 5/5 I will definitely be back!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place was a real letdown. The atmosphere was chaotic and uncomfortable from the moment we arrived. It was so loud that we could barely hear each other talk, and the space was incredibly cramped. I was bumped and pushed multiple times while trying to eat, which made the whole experience frustrating and unpleasant. It felt like the tables were packed in with no consideration for comfort or space. The crowding took away any chance of enjoying the evening. Even if the food had been amazing, the environment alone would be reason enough not to return.

Very expensive, very very small (7 mini tables of 4 people) and with a waiting time of 1.5 hours without a reservation.Service level “nothing special”, Very good service from the waiters. The attention of host service is not at all friendly. Not comfortable, very loudly. The smoke and smells from kitchen invade the entire room. Toilets are not comfortable. Main dishes poor portions. Not recommended. 👎🏼

I’d say you just need to know what to order to enjoy this place, some items were truly delicious. Of course, taste is subjective, but about half the dishes we tried weren’t great, the negroni didn’t impress either. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
