The 22 Best Restaurants in Richmond, BC - Eater

"HK BBQ Master is masterful indeed in its preparation of barbecued meats. Sample everything if you can: The barbecue duck is delicious and tends to sell out early; the barbecue pork is seductively sweet; the soy sauce chicken is incredibly moist. But the roast pork is the most irresistible, boasting three delicious layers: the meat close to the bone, a layer of succulent fat, and a crisp shield of crackly fried skin. There’s room to dine in, though most get their goods to go. [$$]" - Jay Friedman

We loved HK B.B.Q. Master so much, we went back twice during our Vancouver holiday—that’s how good it was. Tucked under a parking structure, it might not look fancy from the outside, but once you taste the food, you'll understand the hype. The roasts are absolutely legit—classic Hong Kong–style BBQ, full of flavor and expertly done. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but if I had to rank: 1. Roast Duck – crispy skin, juicy meat, and perfectly seasoned. 2. Char Siu – sweet, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. 3. Soy Chicken – beautifully poached, silky, and fragrant. 4. Deep-Fried Pork – crunchy outside, juicy inside, with a great bite. The place gets busy, and for good reason—this is one of the best Cantonese roast spots you’ll find in North America. Definitely a must-visit when in Vancouver, especially if you love Chinese comfort food done the right way.

This review is a sad one because the food here is delicious. In fact it is phenomenal. As with most reviews nowadays, price is a huge issue and this is no exception. I have been eating at this cash only joint (although I saw them pull out a debit machine for a dude the other day) since the early 2000's and have enjoyed dining in and taking out. Used to be able to get about 2.5 pounds of 3 different kinds of meat (no rice) and tons of extra sauces for under 20 bucks for a take out vibe and they even give you a piece of broccoli or two. Now, the exact same thing costs me over 75 bucks and I am not entirely certain the price breakdown. My eyes rolled back into my head, down my back and into my bum when it hit 50 bucks but now over 70? Each time I have gone in the last few years, the price has jumped. Their weighing system is a little sketchy at best...I asked for One pound of bbq pork belly and she asked if I would take 2 pounds. Maybe a half a pound more at most but double what I asked for? Nope. The thing is, is it worth it for me still because it is delicious? I don't know . Seth Rogen and Chang did this place a disservice by putting it on the map because the prices here have skyrocketed since then. I am torn. On the plus side, they give you a greasy paper bag with handle which is appreciated.

Google
Incredible HK style bbq meats. We tried the BBQ pork, roast pork, roast duck, soy chicken. As a lover of BBQ pork. This was definitely top 3 all time for me. Incredibly juicy and flavorful with the right mix of fat. The roast pork skin was very crispy and you could taste the spices which is often times forgotten at other joints. The chicken and duck were moist but overall standard. I think the duck was a tad oily but nothing to complain about. The ginger scallion sauce was a delight The milk tea, rice, vegetables were also good. This is a hole in the wall Chinese place so the raucous noise, service, etc was par and met expectations.

Google
Always a line. Got here before opening. Wrote my name on the list and got on line. Was seated at the first round. We love the fatty tender roast pork and crispy pig. They do it the best in Vancouver! Also don’t forget the daily soup! So good.

Google
We heard the hype and decided to visit while in town. It was good but not spectacular. This was average quality compared to Toronto. We had ordered the roasted pork, bbq pork and bbq duck. The service was great as the waitress was very friendly and helpful. They only accept cash.

Google
The store is very small and expects to lineup for a table. Cash only. They may take other payment but no credit card. BBQ is pretty good. Service is so so. We have to try very hard to get their attention to put an order or refill the water.

Google
The servers here are really friendly with an attitude of “have your order ready but if you really need help we are here” like an old diner that likes its regulars but won’t yell at you if you’re a newbie. Would definitely recommend the duck and if you want char siu i would get mix of fatty and lean not one or the other. Feels silly to say but my lean was too lean and so it was dry but the fatty portion I took home was mostly fat. Mixed is best imo

Google
The dine-in quality was decent. A few pieces of the BBQ meats were slightly overcooked, but overall it was delicious. The value is reasonable.

Yelp
Amazing comfort food and meat here! This is a popular to-go spot and there's often a long line outside the door for their to-go orders, but dining in is definitely the way to go. The inside of the restaurant is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but there's plenty of seating. Service is very kind, and super quick. When my friends and I went, we ordered their BBQ pork, Char Siu, Roasted duck, soya chicken, veggies, and milk tea. Everything was beyond delicious. The meats were juicy, so flavorful, and a generous portion (with delicious sauces). The veggies were light and good. And, the milk tea wasn't too sweet. Overall, I would definitely come back here (or even order their to-go!).

Yelp
The legend of this place had been something I'd been hearing about for years so I finally went. This place is no frills and I think that adds to it in this case. Hand written signs and awkward outdoor waiting area in a Superstore garage all makes it seem like a dirty secret only local Richmond citizens should know about (and under the radar of us Vancouverites). The meat was tasty, we had the 3 meat dish and shared it, all were good. I don't want to say mind blowing but what they do, they do well. I've gone to a few places like this in the lower mainland and this was the best so far but I did go a 1-sar Michelen place in Hong Kong that was similarly no frills (but had goose!) that was a shade better, but I would have thought the gap in satisfaction would be higher!

Yelp
We had Roast Duck, Roast Pig, BBQ pork, daily soup, and rice. The daily soup was excellent. Definitely worth a repeat. Next best was the roast pig. Skin was crispy and meat was tasty. Both Roast Duck and BBQ pork was good but not great. Roast Duck was meaty and moist. Reason for not great is due to the flavor was mild and can benefit with more spices. The cut of BBQ pork we got was fine and flavor is as expected. Hence the 4 stars.

Yelp
HK BBQ Master is probably one of the best spots for roast pork, BBQ pork, duck, and chicken. What really stands out here is how juicy the meats are, complemented by the side soy sauce and green ginger scallion oil. These additions add depth to the simple yet satisfying dishes of meat and rice. The dining area is rather small, so if you're lucky, you won't have to wait long. They also offer a quick takeout option, which is super convenient.

Yelp
Famous place! We came from Seattle area to try and we're not disappointed! There was a long line to order but the food came out fast for takeout. There are some crammed seats inside but very busy and long wait for a table. I can see what the hype is about. Nom nom! We got a combo of crispy duck, bbq pork and pork belly! All the meats cooked perfectly and great price! It comes arranged on a bed of rice and a few pieces of broccoli. Would love to come back when im the area again.

Yelp
Worth the wait, and lives up to the hype. This place was awesome and so consistently good before the Netflix exposure and all the press. Since their expansion, they've still managed to keep the quality and increase their volume. They really take their time to ensure each dish is up to par, the bbq pork, roast pork, soy chicken, and bbq duck are all consistently good. We usually have take out and they make sure that the takeout quality matches the in store sit down experience. It's cash only service, so be prepared.

Yelp
One of the best place to Get HK style BBQ. Always a line. Small space for eat in. Staff are always in a rush, probably due to the crowd but we still go every time we visit Richmond

Yelp
This was another restaurant we've eaten at that was located inside a parking garage. Initially we planned to order takeout but saw that there were a lot of open tables so we dined in. Seating was quick and hot tea was dropped off soon after. No charge for tea. Service was quite good with fast food delivery and frequent tea refills. We picked the honey BBQ pork which was sliced and had a good ratio between lean and fat. It was sweet, juicy and quite good. The crispy roast pork was delicious as well with its very crunchy skin. The rice bowl side was much larger than expected and good for two people. This place was cash only. A nice surprise for us and a definite return on our next visit to Vancouver.

Yelp
My bf's friend recommended that we try HK B.B.Q. Master when we visited Vancouver, so we stopped by around noontime on the day we were flying out. Judging from the long line and crowds, you could tell this place was a hit. Luckily we were able to get seated pretty quickly since most people were standing in line for takeout. The place is pretty small and compact, and even I had trouble scooching in between the tables. Generally my bf and I are able to eat one restaurant dish between the two of us, so we ordered 3 items on rice: BBQ pork, soya chicken, and BBQ duck. Everything was absolutely delicious. The BBQ pork especially was very crispy and smoky. This was my bf's favorite. It was hard for me to choose a favorite, but BBQ pork is generally the easiest to eat since there are no small bones. I am a sucker for classic duck though. The food was so good that my bf decided to order another half pound of BBQ pork. He asked if he was able to do so beforehand and the server told us it was no problem. They came around with our half pound of BBQ pork in a takeout box, so I thought they had misunderstood us when we asked for the order. My bf opened the takeout box and started eating when a worker coming by with our check yelled "Sir! You can't eat that in here!" and quickly snatched the box from him and closed it up. My goodness that really shocked us, and I felt a little embarrassed afterwards. When she came around to collect payment, she apologized for overreacting and explained that there was a difference between the sit-in menu and the takeout menu and what we ordered was from the takeout menu, so we weren't allowed to eat it inside the restaurant. I'm glad she provided an explanation, but we still felt a little shocked from being scolded like that. Asides from that incident, food was fantastic. It is a cash only place so don't forget that. Definitely recommend that you try it if you are in the area. They weren't kidding when they said Richmond has the best Cantonese food.

Yelp
Sunday brunch-time we showed up around 10:30 to our originally-on-the-schedule dimsum restaurant only to find out that they are reservation only. HK BBQ Master was on our list for a different day but was pretty close by, opening soon, and easily swapped in for a future reservation at the other place, so our family of 7 piled into the rental car and drove over to downtown Richmond in the hopes of trying some delicious charsiu. As noobs we definitely did not realize that the dine-in line was separate from the take-out line, and an exasperated Cantonese auntie waved us to the right entrance after we waited in the wrong line for 5 minutes or so. Luckily we were able to put our names down first on the clipboard at the appropriate entrance and right at 11AM (when the place opens) we were led inside the small dining room. We wanted to try a little bit of everything, so we ordered 4 heaping bowls of rice, 4 bowls of soup, 1 order of greens, and legit every meat plate they had on the menu: #1 honey bbq pork (charsiu, we asked for fatty cut), #2 crispy roasted pork belly, #3 famous bbq duck, #5 soya chicken, #6 sauteed free range chicken (basically scallion chicken, served cold), and #7 bbq spare ribs (more traditional charsiu that we're used to). By far my favorite was the #1 honey bbq pork. Some others at our table found the fatty cut a little too fatty but it was perfect to me, so tender and flavorful and actually not too sweet, which is sometimes my complaint with the HK-style BBQ that I can get closer to home. Eating that honey pork was totally a revelation for me and I'll be searching for charsiu to match that level from now on :') Also excellent was the cold scallion chicken and the famous bbq duck - both were super flavorful, super moist, and on point. The soya chicken was just okay; a bit bland and dry, and the crispy roasted pork belly was good but not so elevated that I felt like I couldn't get something similar in quality and flavor in Texas. Same with the BBQ spare ribs, which tasted like the charsiu I'm more familiar with getting at home. The rice bowls were huge, our party of 7 had more than enough with 4 orders. And the soup was also really delicious; there was a bit of a sweet element to it that my MIL loved. We ordered right at open and all our food was out on the table in 5 minutes; we were in and out of the dining room within 40 minutes and on to our next vacation destination. Cash only so remember to bring some to pay, whether you're dining in or taking out. By the time we left there was a line to eat in so highly recommend coming early if you don't want to wait.

Yelp
Despite the bbq items in here always got high ratings from customers. And there's always line up outside waiting to buy takeout. I personally gave it a 3.5 rating, no more than 4... I am not sure I would revisit again... Although the food is delicious, the overall value and the vibe does not impress me very much. The portion is on the mini side. Service is soso and not worth mentioning. The seats and ambiance is just mediocre. Frankly, I don't see any shortage of BBQ food eatery in Richmond.

Yelp
Heard a lot about the meats here so had to try it. Already had lunch so stopped by to get a half order of roast duck, which was delicious! Meaty, juicy, tender, and rich in flavor. To go line could get long, luckily we got here at a down time and it wasn't too long. They have a seating area but it's not too large, and it looks to be always busy for sit down dining. Note that the entrance is inside the parking garage. There's no entrance in the street side - you'll see the restaurant but the entrance is inside the parking garage. And CASH ONLY! Be prepared. Saw one group walk away because no one had cash.

Yelp
If you're looking for an affordable Chinese BBQ spot, this place hits the mark! Their rice bowls are fantastic, loaded with a variety of perfectly cooked meats. From tender char siu (BBQ pork) to crispy-skinned roast duck and juicy soy sauce chicken, every cut is flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The portion sizes are generous, and the meat-to-rice ratio is just right. The rice is fluffy and absorbs all the savory juices, making every bite incredibly satisfying. The side sauces, especially the tangy chili and sweet hoisin, are great accompaniments that elevate the meal. I ordered online and pick up so it's super convenient, server was nice . The prices are super reasonable, and the quality of the food far exceeds the cost. If you're a fan of Chinese BBQ, this is a gem that won't break the bank!

Yelp
My family stopped here for dinner on July 23, 2024 after coming back from our ferry ride from Victoria back to Vancouver. There was a wait, but it wasn't too long. The interior of the restaurant was cozy and compact with tables relatively close to each other. The food itself was not bad. My favorite dish was the green onion oil chicken. The BBQ pork was also ok, but not the best I've ever had. Some pieces were too chewy. While we were seated, the restaurant staff began to announce certain items to be sold out. Luckily, we placed our order for the very last portion of roasted duck. While the food was decent, I wouldn't recommend this location if you do not like small/tight spaces. The food is the star here, and it's good enough to at least order for take out. Oh yeah, this place is CASH ONLY.
google avatar

Royal P.

Yelp
Always a long line but so worth it. They have a separate line for take out and dine-in, so if you're eating here, make sure you get on the waitlist. Service is fast, and this isn't really a place you go for ambiance. Get the soy sauce chicken and bbq pork combo. Rice is also cooked very well, and goes so well with the sauce, which you can ask for extra on the side along with chili oil. The Hong Kong milk tea is also good. Portions are smaller than from when we first went here, but that's really a sign of the times. Cash only.

Yelp
Ambiance and Decor: HK BBQ Masters is not a place you visit for its ambiance. Tucked away beneath a Superstore, this small restaurant prioritizes function over form, catering to a high volume of customers with quick turnover. The decor is minimalistic, with a clear focus on efficiency and longevity rather than aesthetic appeal. Half the space is designated for dine-in customers, while the other half serves the take-out crowd. The lingering presence of COVID-era plexiglass partitions raises questions--are they for customer hygiene, or to protect the staff handling the food? This detail adds an element of uncertainty about the overall cleanliness of the establishment. Service Quality: Service at HK BBQ Masters is brisk and to the point. The staff waste no time with pleasantries, swiftly taking orders from the large TV menus. I ordered a whole roasted duck, 2 lbs of roasted pork, and a side of steamed vegetables. A critical detail to note: this is a CASH ONLY establishment, so come prepared with cash. The staff's efficiency is evident, but the lack of warmth in their interactions can be off-putting. Menu Variety: The menu offers a solid selection of Chinese BBQ staples--pork, duck, and chicken. You can buy the meats individually or as part of a meal served over a bed of freshly cooked white rice. An essential addition to any order is the green onion-ginger oil, which enhances the meat's flavor with a touch of saltiness. The variety is sufficient to satisfy both regulars and first-time visitors. Food Presentation: The presentation of the food is straightforward and unpretentious. The chef/butcher skillfully slices the meat into manageable pieces, showcasing their expertise. However, when I asked for my roasted duck to be cut, I was rudely informed that it couldn't be done because it was too hot from the oven. The brusque manner in which this was communicated left a sour taste, making me feel unwelcome and questioning their customer service approach. Food Taste and Quality: Despite the service hiccups, the food quality at HK BBQ Masters is undeniably impressive. After taking my meal home and cutting the duck myself, I found the meat to be exceptionally juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. The flavours were robust and satisfying, living up to the restaurant's reputation and justifying the 20 to 30-minute wait time. The roasted pork was equally delicious, with a perfect balance of crispy skin and succulent meat. Price and Value: HK BBQ Masters is on the pricier side compared to other Chinese BBQ spots in Metro Vancouver. However, the taste and quality of the food align with their pricing strategy, making it a worthwhile indulgence for those craving authentic Chinese BBQ. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Would I return? Yes, but only for take-out. The dine-in experience is marred by the pervasive plexiglass partitions, which give the impression that the seating area and utensils might not be thoroughly cleaned. Additionally, the staff's unwelcoming demeanour, particularly in refusing to cut the duck, suggests a lack of preparedness and consideration for customer convenience. While the flavors and quality of the food are exceptional, these shortcomings detract from the overall experience, making it less likely that I'd choose to dine in. HK BBQ Masters has room for improvement in its customer service and dining environment to match the standard of its cuisine.

Yelp
Best soy sauce chicken in North America! CASH ONLY so make sure you have some on you before you go. The closest ATM we could find that accepts US debit cards was at TD bank, a short drive away. No wait to get seated on a Sunday afternoon, and you get your food soon after ordering. They also speak Cantonese and Mandarin. Recommend getting the soy sauce chicken rice ($15). It was tender and juicy, and you get a lot of protein for the price you pay. The rice was also fragrant and had extra flavor from the chicken on top of it. Each table has a bottle of seasoned soy sauce, which tastes sweeter than regular soy sauce. After paying for our sit-down meal, we lined up in the take out line to order half a soy sauce chicken to go ($14.95). This took a bit longer than sit-down because the line got fairly long, but they are quick with the chopping, and it's worth the wait!

Yelp
I was so sad we only had enough cash for one dish. So had to make the most of it by getting the bbq pork and roast pork over rice. One of the more must stop places in Richmond for a reason. The bbq pork was out of this world as we opted for the fatty option and it had so much flavor and juicy. Addicting sauce and not red like most you'll see out there. Honestly, I thought we had ordered duck. But I have to try the bbq duck next time. The roast pork I didn't like as much as the bbq but still solid. You park in the garage of the place and enter from the inside of garage and not outside near the street. Separately lines for takeout and dine-in. Dine in was not super huge so not large group friendly.

Yelp
Greeted by the waitress / server as soon as we entered the entrance door and seated quickly. She served hot tea while we're choosing our order. Ordered Soup of the day, Green Vegetable, and Plate with Roast Pork, Soya Chicken with Bar B Q Pork. Foods are tasty and delicious. Fast and efficient service. The restaurant is clean and tidy. Worth the visit

Yelp
Best Chinese bbq in richmond! Worth the line up. Cash only. The garlic oil brings out the taste so well too. They didn't use to charge for it but now it's $1 extra. The portions are smaller too. The service is abrupt but I think that's expected. I recommend ordering ahead for faster pick up.

Yelp
This place is super popular. We got here just when they opened and there were about 10 people there for take out. There is a separate line for dine in which we opted for. They brought us tea right away. My favorites were the soup of the day (papaya) and the chicken rice. Service was quick and simple.

Yelp
Best food I've had in Richmond (take with grain of salt cuz this is my personal opinion). It was SOOO good and if I had a location near me, I'd prob go all the time. It's located beneath the Superstore, and the entrance is within the parking lot area. There's a take out window or a dine in area (super small and ALWAYS packed; there was a line and a constant constant hustle and bustle). CASH ONLY - tax included in all menu prices. Love love love the crispy pork! The roast duck is soooo soft (like how) They'll ask you if you want lean or fatty bbq pork- the lean was a lil too dry (so I bet the fatty would've been delicious). The dish my mom and I shared was the Roast duck/crispy pork/bbq pork plate for $16.99. My uncle and his wife got the chicken/roast duck/bbq pork plate. We shared Chinese broccoli. (Perfectly steamed, sweet, with a nice soy sauce). 2 three-meat plates + 1 bowl rice + 1 Chinese broccoli = $54.08 tax included. Honestly, perfect portions (although we asked for a bowl of rice cuz they put too much salty sauce on our rice). Meats are already perfectly salted for consuming with rice. By 7pm on a Thursday night, they were sold out of Roast Duck (they're open until 8pm). Fragrant hot tea is served for free. 10/10 would recommend. DON'T FORGET CASH.

Yelp
Food is exceptional. We dined in and had a lovely experience. The waitresses were so helpful and accommodating to our large American group. If you're planning to visit, go early. They sold out of duck right before we got there for dinner and sold out of roast pork and bbq pork while we were eating.

Yelp
Cash only! This place was one of the stops on my friend's food tour list. As another person stated, you're here for the food, not the ambiance. We ordered the 3 meat combo (roast pork, bbq pork & another pork which I forgot what it's called in English), poached chicken & veggies. Food is pretty good & very tasty. They are pretty efficient & quick. The aunties appreciate it if you can speak some Cantonese & thank them too.

Yelp
I've had a fair share of Cantonese BBQ growing up and recently in top tier places like Wah Fung in NYC and Kau Kau in Seattle, and this one lives up to the hype and around there on quality. Given that it is Richmond / Vancouver and there are plenty of amazing yet inexpensive places, this is not the best value for quality I have had. Even at 2:45pm on a Saturday, there was still a long waitlist. 7 parties ahead of us and it was a 20 minute wait, so I cannot imagine how much busier it can get during more standard dining hours. My friend and I tried the #10 combo which had BBQ pork, soya chicken, and roasted pork. It came with a good amount of rice with some soy sauce, which is the perfect combination for a nice comforting meal. The BBQ pork is so tender and juicy, even though I opted for the leaner cut. The soya chicken is also flavorful, especially with the green onion and oil on top. There weren't that much loose bones, which is the problem in a lot of the Cantonese BBQ places due to the way they butcher the chicken, so this is a big plus. The roasted pork is decent - there is some crunch on the skin and not too much fat in between; I have had better roasted pork. Hot tea is served complimentary with free refills, alongside the meal. The -1 star is solely because the price increases have been through the roof. Between now and 1 month ago, they increased the price of the combo by 1 CAD, and I was totally not prepared cause I literally only had 20 CAD and it's my last day here for a while so I wouldn't want to pay extra ATM fees for a few CAD. The combo was 19.50 and tax is EXCLUDED unlike some other reviews from the past, so it ended up being around 20.50 CAD and I was short on change and forced to cover the difference in USD by giving a 1 USD bill. Food and service were quick, which makes a lot of sense given how busy the place is. I wouldn't say it is overhyped because the quality is good, but compared to recent visits to other top tier Cantonese BBQs, this is a skippable place if you intend to travel to the other major cities with a heavy Cantonese presence.

Yelp
Spent a day in Richmond and we heard it was THEE place to come try out some bbq pork. We got here around noon and it was about 5 couples ahead of us. We put our names down and waited no more than 20 mins. They called our name and sat us down. We knew what we wanted so it was easy. We ended up ordering the 3 meat plate. I got duck, bbq pork and the chicken. Once the food came out I was drooling. Took the first bite of the bbq and OMG it was so tender it just smelts in your mouth. The portions here are big so come hungry haha. The staff here works very hard and are very nice. Be nice to them they run around to make sure all is good. Come by here if you are in Canada

Yelp
This is the Mecca for the highest caliber of Hong Kong style BBQ. A soul satisfying pilgrimage for those with a highly evolved gustatory cortex. I've heard of this unassuming little joint for years but a visit always slipped by. It's tucked away in a corner of the covered ground level parking lot of The Real Canadian Superstore. Cramped dining area, so 80% of the business is take away. You will often see a queue during peak hours. Best description for the Crispy Roast Pork - seasoned to perfection, best crunch ever, alternating fat/meat layers of happiness and overflowing porky juice in every bite . The Roast Duck - has a soft velvety skin and the meat is succulent and bursting with umami flavor. Next time I'm in town, this'll be my first stop directly from YVR.

Yelp
No complaints about the food, its quite good but the mannerism and behaviour toward customers is appalling especially if your a white English speaking non Chinese . Three times I came to this restaurant and every time I received an unpleasant greeting at the counter, even when I left a good tip. The people who were in front of me in line seemed to do OK maybe because they were Chinese, they got smiles and friendliness.

Yelp
My dad commented that it's one of the most tender bbq pork servings he's ever had.. idk if it tasted better bc we were eating it outdoors at the beach, but it sure was yummy

Yelp
CASH ONLY!! The meat was juicy, flavorful, and perfect! There was a line out the door for pickup, the dining area was full and people coming constantly. Can tell its a busy, popular place right away. The meat was so tender and there's nothing else to change about it. Its a bit crowded and the space is tight but that's forgivable when the food is great.

Yelp
This is a small restaurant known for its BBQ. This place is busy. The reasons the bba is so good. I ordered the tri BBQ combo, a dish of oyster sauce vegetables, and a bowl of daily soup. They all tasted so good. All of the servers are friendly. There is a bottle if sweet soy sauce you can put onto your rice. It raised the level of taste to a whole new level.

Yelp
3.5 Stars Visited on a Thursday at around 430pm and there was no wait. I had high expectations coming in after hearing all the rave reviews. It was a bit underwhelming to be honest. The prices were reasonable when converted to USD, but portion sizes were on the smaller side. We tried all the meats and nothing really stood out. Our meal was good, but not great. I think we have better BBQ meats here in the Bay Area. The iced milk tea that we ordered was pretty good and affordable. I'm still glad we came here as it was on our must-do list.

Yelp
Your usual fast-paced Cantonese eatery. Be ready to order when you sit, they don't like to wait. They will give u the heads up if they are running out of any meat (extra reason to rush you into ordering). But take their word for it! We were told that duck is running out if we don't order now, and since that is what I came here for, I had to make sure I get it. Sure enough, duck ran out after I ordered. We order all kinds of meat from duck to chicken to roasted pork, not to mention charsiew, too! I would say this is by far the best duck I had in the states, it's tender and juicy, and best of all, there is a lot of meat on the duck!! The most important part of the roasted duck, in my opinion. Most of the ducks I have in the States are usually too skinny, with minimal meat and a lot of fats... Would totally recommend their duck if you're in that area! P.S. it's a cash only place!

Yelp
Came here on vacation from Toronto. Place is pretty small and fast paced. Only a couple seats for dine in while they have a different door for takeout. Chinese bbq was okay wouldn't say I was super impressed or a must stop spot, but I did like the house made soy sauce. Service was also okay, very fast paste, wants you in and out.

Yelp
A must stop every time we're in the area! You can't go wrong with any of their meats. Keep in mind that it's cash only and there's two separate lines, one for dine in and one for takeout. I usually get a rice plate and a couple free range chickens for home. Pro tip- get some extra scallion oil, thank me later.

Yelp
Everything about this 3 items on rice box made dreams come true! You can get any combo of their meats, just tell the cashier. They are SO fast, so efficient, so don't be scared of the line. Everything here is amazing, you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Delicious roast duck. That's it. That's all that needs to be said. Best Chinese food we had in Vancouver. You can even cram inside to eat with fellow lovers of yum.

Yelp
This spot is so good, a must every time we go to Vancouver BC, even though Richmond can be out of the way for us sometimes. Even though we come from Seattle, this is the worth the stop. I don't know a spot in Seattle that compare to this quality and value (looking at you Kau Kau). You get so much food and it's so good! All the staff here are nice and efficient, even the take out! I have no problem supporting this business but remember to bring cash as they don't take card. The honey BBQ pork, crispy pork, or even duck. Can't go wrong with any choice. Don't ever change!! Thank you for being delicious and awesome.

Yelp
YES YES YES YES. Recommended by a friend. I ordered the BBQ pork and roasted pork rice dish. It was AMAZING. My husband and I also ordered a pound of BBQ pork to take back to our AirBNB in Seattle. It was delicious and to die for. My husband ordered the BBQ pork and roasted chicken - he said it was all delicious. I'm not sure if they used some special soy sauce either, but when they poured it over the rice - IT SLAPPED SO HARD. Service - SO FAST. They make and prepare it for you right in front of you. The food is so fresh and hot when they give it to you. Ambiance - The entrance was a little confusing, but it seems like it was under a parking garage. You can eat inside, but we did take out. They also only accept cash, so make sure you bring some.. (and bring extra cash so you can take extra food home!)

Yelp
Came late around 730pm on a Friday evening. A lot of the items were sold out. Eating here was cramp as it only sits 2 or 4 people max. We were party of 8 so they divided our group. The floor is slippery. Soya sauce chicken was good with plain rice. Only 1 stem of broccoli given. CASH ONLY The HK nai cha tea was underwhelming and i don't recommend it.

Yelp
Cash only. Place is like your typical Hong Kong restaurant/diner a bit cramped. Food is served fast, fresh, and tasty. Service is also typical Hong Kong type always on the go. Pork bbq is the best.

Yelp
Bring cash! We overheard a customer ask if they could pay with USD and they said it was okay. There's a separate line for take-out and dine in. You have to put your name down on the list and wait for your party to be called. Both lines move fairly quickly as they work hard to get everyone their food as soon as possible. I got the #10, chashu (bbq pork), soy chicken, and roasted pork. I expected the chashu or roasted pork to be my favorite, but my entire group agreed that the soy chicken was the star of the show. It's extremely tender, flavorful, and finished with a scallion oil drizzled on top. My friend got their roast duck and I thought it lacked enough flavor. The chashu was delicious but after a few pieces became too salty. I also felt the roasted pork could have been more flavorful but it was good after adding the sauce on the table. If I get the chance to come back, I'll definitely be ordering a plate of the soy chicken!

Yelp
This is cash only and it is so worth it. We tried the chicken, the duck, the soup, everything was so damn tasty! It was pretty packed, but we didn't wait more than 15 minutes that was for a party of two I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
It is as ok. That's about all I can really say. We drove up from Seattle and stopped here for lunch. Appreciated all the reviews. Parking was a little nuts being in the same place as a supermarket but it worked out with some patience. Definitely a well run kitchen with quick turnaround. We were in line and served in 5 minutes. As for the food, it was exactly as other Yelpers had described, just s little too greasy for me.

Yelp
HK BBQ Master, tucked away under Richmond Superstore, is a straight-up hidden gem that keeps it real. Specializing in Cantonese-style BBQ, this spot's got a squad of loyal fans for its legit and flavorful eats. The vibe is no-frills, more about hustle than comfort. The joint's small, always packed with heads tryna get their hands on those bomb dishes. It ain't the place for a chill dine-in, but the smell of roasting meats and the sight of that glossy char siu will have you drooling on the spot. The BBQ game here is strong. The crispy roast pork is fire, with skin that's crackly perfection and meat that's juicy AF. The char siu is on point, sweet and savory, with a caramelized crust that melts in your mouth. The soy sauce chicken and roast duck? Mad flavorful and juicy, straight-up mouthwaterin'. Service at HK BBQ Master is no-nonsense. The crew knows how to handle the steady stream of hungry folks, dishing out orders fast. They ain't about small talk, but they're clued-up and ready to drop some solid recommendations. For real, the bang for your buck here is dope. Quality and authenticity are top-notch, with hefty portions that don't wreck your wallet. It's the go-to spot for legit Cantonese BBQ without burnin' through your cash. HK BBQ Master is proof that good things come in small, unassuming packages. This spot's got culinary firepower that'll knock your socks off. Whether you're local or just rollin' through, you gotta hit up this joint if you got a taste for Chinese BBQ. Just be ready for a wait, 'cause word on the street means it's always poppin'. But trust, the wait's totally worth it.

Yelp
To me, this place truly was HK BBQ master! I've read and heard rave reviews, but I certainly was convinced once I tried it! We ordered 3 plates for dine in (we arrived around 11, so we got seated right away and it was a weekday so I think they weren't too busy). A 3 items combo plate with roast pork, roast duck and bbq pork over rice; a soya chicken, roast duck, bbq pork over rice and soya chicken and bbq pork over rice. We also had a bowl of the soup (it was a simple winter melon soup). Everything (bbq) we ordered were delicious and flavorful. They weren't overly salted (didn't taste the msg after affect. Didn't feel overly thirsty afterwards) and even the soy sauce chicken was very impressive despite us usually not a fan of the dish. We loved the green onion garlic sauce that topped the chicken, gave it more savory flavors. The bbq pork was so so delicious and the quality of the meat they used for roast pork was on point with just the right amount of fat!! The soup was good, but not mind blowing. The service was friendly despite us not speaking Chinese. Cash only, so make sure you bring cash. I tried their competitor (parker place) and thought this place was far more superior! Truly a must eat if you're looking for a good Chinese bbq.

Yelp
The first night we went, the roast pork was amazing! The fat to lean meat ratio was perfect and the skin was crispy. The 2nd night we went, the cha sew, duck and pork were on the drier side. Definitely inconsistent....so a bit disappointed hence a 4 star rating.

Yelp
Some of the best duck I've had outside of China. It is reasonably priced as well, so you don't have to break the bank to get something authentic. You will need cash here. It's not the place to bust out an American Express or Chase Sapphire Reserve. The flavor is rich and hard to describe if you haven't had duck before. It's very fatty so if you like meats with a lot of weight and complex tastes, this is for you! Strongly recommend this and wish I had something similar near me.
