3 Traditional Markets to Experience the Real Taiwan

"Established in 1947, Hoshing’s biggest selling point is its freshly-made steamed cake. Many people also go to Nanmen Market before the Chinese New Year to shop for ingredients to make party dishes." - MICHELIN Guide Taipei Editorial Team

Totally love the chestnut and sesame steamed rice cakes here. They steam it for you immediately and serve them with a delicious cup of tea. Perfection!💖😋

The steamed buns are steamed for 5 minutes after you place your order. I ate them on a bench in front of the shop while being served tea. They were delicious!

I attracted because of the staff making "Yuan Xiao" in front of the shop. I was never tried Yuan Xiao before and feel lucky that I got such an opportunity to try Yuan Xiao. Need wait for 10mins to be fried. Texture like mua chi, soft and sticky. I ordered matcha, sesame and gui hua. Overall this is a special experience to me, thanks

Really nice little place at a really nice street. Steam traditional mini cake is very flavourful. Really love the black sesame steam cake. Highly recommend to try it. They gave you a mini cup of tea as well to go with the cake. Overall really nice experience and yummy food. Service was fantastic too!

As a foreigner, this is my very first time trying this kind of a dessert. When I first came into the shop, the employees were very welcoming and understanding, they knew my mandarin wasn't fluent but they still try their best to explain slowly. The cakes are so beautifully crafted, their packaging really shows class and very suitable as a gift. The cake itself has many variations, but I chose what the employee recommended me; the white in the picture has red bean in it and the purple one has pear in it. The price for the white one is $45 and $55 for the purple. You can ask the employee to heat the cake and make it ready for you to eat on the spot. They heated mine and gave me some hot tea (really good tea and nice fragrance).

Walking through the streets of Dadaocheng you will find interesting shops and restaurants to visit. I would recommend this place it serves a traditional dessert. We tried several on site with the rice cakes steamed fresh, we also took a variety back home. Eat in the shop with their tea highly recommended

Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ambience: ⭐️⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Value: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price range: ~NTD200 per person Review: they have super tasty steamed rice balls filled with different things. Choose at the front (three balls for NTD100 and they steam them in about five minutes. You can choose from fillings such as peanut sauce, green beans and chrysanthemum, among others. Peanut was THE best - definitely worth a try!

so i got the tea set so i could squat & chill in the little modern take on traditional tea house & i kinda got fascinated with all the "connex" furniture that you can take apart & pack away the staff set me up with the staples the fluffy white nibble is a loose rice cake served warm straight from steamer & best eaten soon with black sesame inside -- just a wee bit sweet same goes for the two-toned coconut & rice sticky cake -- served chilled again all the natural flavours of ingredients tasted tea ? taipei 18 -- that's the name of the tea served hot or cold fun fact (if you get cold tea) it's made the day before whole 24 hrs for the tea leaves to steep i said to staff to compliment & comment : a perfect balance i think the back area is perfect for a party of 10 - 12 everyone get a tea set -- nibble on the many varieties of delicacies & when they're not looking -- disassemble the furniture & walk out with it 😉 just kidding but this place that's been around since 1947 ain't no joke : they know their teas & the delicacies that go with them check out their gift sets too can shop online as well tMac 🍵
