I wasn't expecting much based on the outside appearance of the building, but the food here was phenomenal. We had the sweet and sour chicken and fried rice with a side of lo mein and it was all so good. If youre craving good Chinese food, don't be afraid to try Ho Lo Ma

Google
Walked in to get taken out and the lady at the counter helped 2 people that walked behind me to pay. I asked her if they had spicy shrimp with vegetables and she said they have kung pao shrimp. I asked her what vegetables and she says all of them so I order that. Now when I got home I was excited but the food had no taste! Wasn't spicy or flavorful. Really no vegetables really. There's parts of a zucchini, onions, bell peppers, string things. I did mention I wanted the lunch price but also when I paid it was $17 so she rang it up wrong..All this shouldn't have happened! No returning for me!

Google
Dinner visit. Attentive staff. Egg rolls were good, with outer wrapper crunchy, but not too thick and greasy. Squid with vegetables and another dish with fried wontons were tasty and very similar except for their proteins. Abundant portions for a second, take-home meal. Happy to return, especially if i can try some lunch specials.

We stopped in for lunch and immediately, the egg drop soup stole my heart. We ordered the combination plates and the food was super delicious. Our server was super polite and provided good customer service. We're from out of town and will most definitely come back.

Google
The egg drop soup was absolutely phenomenal. The waiter and staff were extremely friendly and even helped me figure out what I wanted to eat. The egg drop soup was hot and delicious. Good price too.

Google
I have been coming to this Chinese restaurant since 2018. The food is always good and very reasonably priced. The portion sizes are good for family style, eating or to eat by yourself. The service is great, seems like it’s a family run business. . The restaurant is suitable for groups of all sizes and can be rearranged for different groups easily as it’s an open floor plan.

Google
Solid choice for standard Chinese food! This was our last night in Albuquerque and the girls wanted Chinese so we wound up here. They had indoor dining, served wine and didn’t close at 7:00 like many restaurants around them so I was hoping the food would be good as well. The food was decent - flavorful with a lot of variety and a good value for the money. The bonus was our server who was super nice and funny to boot.

Google
We went for the first time today. I ordered the snow pea shrimp and my husband got the crispy duck daily special. The food was excellent. The duck was moist and beautifully seasoned. Everything on the menu looked delicious and the prices were fair. We will most certainly be back!

Yelp
This place just has it down. No bells or whistles- but just nail it on every level: atmosphere, service and great food. Their egg rolls are the best in town. Love their traditional food offerings and specials are fun, too. Staff is always welcoming and friendly. Love this place!

Yelp
We have loved Ho Lo Ma in the past but on 8/24/25 this time food was way overcooked. Broccoli was pale and limp. Minimal amount of other vegetables.. Quality has gone down.

Yelp
Pretty good, and decent price! Went with my boyfriend and mom and we had a nice time. The restruant was pretty too.

Yelp
My mom and I went to this place on Christmas day just to see how it was to order Chinese on Christmas Day. The food was fantastic the surface was pretty quick even though there was a lot of people there and the service was wonderful and the people were friendly!

Yelp
A Christmas tradition in our family; Chinese food on Christmas Day. Ho Lo MA is the place. Even with a family of 5 and no reservations, immediate seating. A wide variety of items on the menu so everyone can get what they want (and plenty for sharing), and reasonable prices make me happy. Give 'em a try, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We visited Ho Lo Ma for lunch on a weekday. We each ordered a lunch special. My husband ordered the lunch special D, which was chicken chow mein, sweet & sour pork, fried rice, and egg flower soup for $8.50. I ordered the lunch special P, which was shrimp chow mein, sweet & sour pork, fried rice, egg flower soup, and an egg roll for $9.50. The prices seemed artificially low, and there turned out to be a reason: there's not much taste, and the serving size of the sweet & sour pork was 5 small pieces of meat. The egg roll had an odd spice to it I didn't particularly enjoy. Overall, the food wasn't worth the $9.50, as low of a price as that is. There was 1 server for 11 tables, at least all of which had a minimum of 2 people. The table across from us had their appetizer and food delivered all at the same time because the one server couldn't keep up with 11 tables (which seems like common sense). We won't go back. The food isn't appetizing, they understaff, and the meat portions are tiny.

Yelp
New to the state and town. This is our go to spot now every Sunday. Service is great every time and food is so great too. Very clean and well put together restaurant all together.

Yelp
The business has been open for years. Certainly, not a fancy interior...but the food is good. Ourthreesome feasted on eggrolls(veggie), sesame chicken, sauteed brocolli, mooshu pork and egg foo young!!! Service was great as always...we even tried some hot saka. Limited alcohol menu but sufficient choices for a drink. They do take out as well. Open Christmas...been frequenting for over 30 years. Prices are definitely reasonable as well!!!

Yelp
Ho Lo Ma has always been a staple in Albuquerque so when I was back in town, I decided to give it a visit. It's never been a busy spot but there was only one table there while I picked up my food. We got home and we're thoroughly disappointed. The food is fine but the Mongolian Beef was mostly onions and very little beef. The Roast Duck tasted good (although slightly dried out) and has certainly experience shrinkflation. Mostly bone and very little skin and meat. It was an average meal.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a teen back in the 1970's, following 3 generations of quality Asian food selections. The food is consistently cooked well and has options of sauces mild to extra spicy. Service is exceptional and cordial. The dining area is clean and decorated in an Asian theme to create a calm ambiance. Large parties can be accommodated easily with partitions available. The dishes with meat are so tender, you can cut with a fork! The vegetables are fresh and steamed to desired tenderness. The various sauces are not overpowering in spices. Staff will be helpful in creating a wonderful dining experience. Cook time is quick and carefully presented.

Yelp
Best Chinease food in the west (My Opinion), Great Service and environment!!! Take out is every bit as good as dining in.

Yelp
My girlfriend is not a big Chinese food person but she loves this place. We go for family meals pretty often now

Phil C.

Yelp
Always good staple Chinese food ,and excellent, friendly service. They definitely welcome and appreciate your business. Prices are reasonable. I go back an awful lot.Atmosphere is OK but it is an old restaurant.

Misty L.

Yelp
Wow! For all the naysayers who insist there is no good Chinese food in ABQ THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Great lunch specials with a huge variety of. Choices. Food arrived not greasy and fresh ingredients were appreciated. Our server knew the menu well and offered extraordinary service. This is the best place for Chinese food in ABQ!
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
Had not been here in a long time. Service was great during the visit. Food could have been hotter than it was. Food overall was good and filling. My favorite was the Egg Drop Soup.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
This is a great staple restaurant on ABQ's east side. It's fresh and typically fast service. On our last visit, my husband and mom got a three course special that looked and smelled amazing. They were very happy with it! As a vegetarian, I didn't join them, but ordered Hunan Style Bean Curd and stir fried Baby Bok Choy. All our dishes were flavorful and delicious. The veggies were Chunchon and well seasoned. I hate it when veggie dishes are an afterthought and have no flavor. At Ho Lo Ma, they are so tasty!

JoAnne W.

Yelp
I love this place always clean always great food! I have never had anything that wasn't fantastic, my favorite is the Moo goo gai pan.

Byron E.

Yelp
Good service, good food, good prices and nice atmosphere! This place is very quaint and quiet and clean!

Gigi G.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, Mom and I loved our meal. The staff was friendly and very efficient! The restaurant was clean and in the holiday spirit. The food is fresh and full of flavor. This place is at the top of my list for Chinese food!

Yelp
It's a neighborhood restaurant, located in the NE part of town and just as likely to be busy inside as not, busy with carry out orders, too. The interior design is proletarian Asian, but I cannot say enough complementary about the original artwork on the seasonal and daily specials whiteboard. The artist will take your phone-in order and cash you out. But the food! Some reviewers have commented that the flavor tends blah. I disagree. I like their savory stir fry sauces, never gloppy, and the Kung po is nice and spicy. Vegetables are somewhat crisp, even in the chow mein. And today's egg roll was tasty and perfectly fried. I like some veggies in the fried rice, which they do not do for their lunch special sides. Westernized Asian food tends hit or miss no matter where I've been; Ho Lo MA is a lot more hit. Best affordable Chinese food in the Heights.

Yelp
Bomb! Portions are great, good is great, service is great! I've found my new favorite Chinese place in ABQ after a long, hard search

Yelp
Love this little place... the food is delicious and the owners are so nice and attentive! We spent Christmas here last year and the atmosphere was delightful and it felt like spending Christmas with family

Yelp
Have seen Ho Lo Ma Chinese restaurant for many many years thought it must be pretty good because it's been around . Apparently I was wrong and very sad I should've known when walking in and when there was no one in the dining room except for one the lady probably not even enjoying her meal she probably got it for free that's the only reason she was there. The mushroom was actually the worst mushy vegetables I've ever had the General Tso's chicken was Terrible very disappointed do not go there don't eat there don't even look at it when you drive-by thanks for nothing

Badger T.

Yelp
Excellent. Fresh. NO BUFFET, which means the food is made on the spot. No MSG, yay! Family-owned and operated. A friend had been to China and said this was the closest restaurant to ever come close to what he remembers eating in China. It is highly recommended!

Yelp
Good food and staff is very accommodating. These guys are good at what they do! Highly recommended

Yelp
get dat Ho Lo Ma! Very good food. We have loved everything here so far. The rangoons were wonderful! The egg-rolls were very good as well(there seemed to be no meat in them...but I still liked them)! The Orange chicken is really good. Lightly breaded, nothing crazy, and very tasty. You get the sweet and citrus flavors and the amount of sauce was superb! The sesame Chicken was nothing special. Not bad by any means, but probably not where I'll go when I am craving sesame chicken either. We got Lo Mein noodles, and the host taking my order asked if I wanted the fat or thin noodles. Thank god, because I didn't know there was a difference. We did them fatties, and they were bomb! Would definitely be back for the noodle, orange chicken, and apps. Only bummer was they told me my food would be ready in half an hour. I always show up at least 5 minutes early in case they finish early because i don't want my food sitting out getting soggy or stale. Welllp they definitely didn't finish this one early. I waited for nearly 45 minutes in there...meaning they didn't get my order out early, or on time, but 40 minutes late. I could tell looking around they need more help. The lone waitress was literally running to tables with food and drinks. The lady that came in to be seated after me must have waited 15 to 20 minutes to actually be greeted by the waitress and get water to her table. Nothing against them, they were busting their ass. Everyone was running and clearly working very hard, however they had one host who probably helps cook in the back, and a one waitress who had wayyyy too much on her plate. Not going to hold that against them since no one wants to work these days, but I do hope they get more staff soon to solve the one bad issue they have.

Dolores S.

Yelp
First time coming here brought my family here chow mein very salty forks were dirty nothing positive to say never again waitress hygiene was not pleasant when ordering hoping are food would of made up for her smell maybe I should of tipped her so she can buy some soap. I've had diarrhea all night and today also getting ready to go to urgent care to see if I got food poisoning from egg drop soup

Valerie M.

Yelp
I've their Singapore noodles. This place os boceto go for a family style dinner. The service fast as well. We will always comeback.

Melissa M.

Yelp
I this place. It is great for quick Chinese take away. Everything I order tastes delicious and it the prices are reasonable. I only wish they would have a website where I can view their menu.

Yelp
This restaurant is my fave Chinese restaurant it's also the only Chinese restaurant I frequent. I don't like Chinese food, however this one is so good I can't help but love it. The staff is warm, friendly and often funny. It's a family affair, I like that! Food is made to order any way you like it, portions are good size and pricing is quite reasonable. They are pretty quick to order and get the first course out to you. Delish! The beef with broccoli is tender and not fatty, orange chicken is so tasty as is the lemon chicken, sweet n sour pork...YUM. They cook veggies right, tender crisp...not mushy and not raw, simply perfection. The ONLY drawback (and it's tiny) is the fried rice. It's flavorful but doesn't contain any veggies or scrambled eggs which I personally prefer. Hmmm, now I'm hungry for Chinese, gotta go to Ho Life Ma on Menaul! TTFN Enjoy.

Yelp
We've been going to Ho Lo Ma for years. I love the egg rolls and always order extra. Overall the food is wonderful; I can't comment on beef or chicken dishes as I don't order meat dishes at any restaurant, but my friend usually orders something with beef and says it's very good. Wait staff is always extremely pleasant and friendly. On a recent Saturday evening a friend and I had dinner which was exceptional. I had a chef's combo of sweet & sour shrimp, crab rangoon, egg roll & fried rice. We were served egg drop soup (excellent) and I can't say enough about the shrimp. Batter fried, crispy crust, fresh tasting, and the sides were also great. My friend had the sesame beef, S&S chicken, egg roll & fried rice. Usually I have leftovers to take home, but this time there were none it was that good. Not every meal I've had there is a 10 like this, but neither have I been disappointed. Every one of the staff is wonderful, but Lilly is our favorite.

Peggy W.

Yelp
Pretty good. I just moved here from west TN. I'm searching for that "perfect" Chinese food place. This is pretty close I had the "Wor Wonton Soup". Pretty good! Only "complaint" (more of s suggestion) is that the broth was a bit bland. Other than that it filled me up. Chicken, pork, shrimp, carrots, wontons, noodles, green onion, bok choy, YUM!
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
I've been eating here with my family for years. I don't think it's as bad as some of the reviews say in all honesty. They give big portions, and, although not everything is exceptional on the menu, they have a few dishes that are good! I usually have their coconut shrimp, but this last visit I had the almond duck. The coconut shrimp is my favorite, but the duck was alright! I, personally, like the eggrolls because they don't have meat in them. However, I'm sure they would give you meat in them if you asked because they're super friendly! The hot tea isn't great in my opinion. Overall, they have big portions of decent food, the staff is super friendly and kind, and they are pretty cheap!

Yelp
This was our first time back to this restaurant in quite a few years. The atmosphere remained very quaint, the building was a little too dark for lunchtime in my opinion. The food came out very quickly it was hot and delicious. Our server was very friendly and attentive he made sure everything was wonderful. This is a great place for lunch.

Vinnie G.

Yelp
Usually they are amazing. Today was the first time since covid we got take out. I was really excited for the duck. Sadly. On the 3rd piece I noticed it still had uncooked batter. So it was cooked at the wrong temp. Or not long enough or in dirty grease. Needless to say. It's 3:30am and I'm the only one who ate the duck. And the only one not feeling good
google avatar

Elise B.

Yelp
This is that generic Chinese restaurant that never fails you. Which everyone needs right? Huge portions, modest prices. I apologize for the short review. But I think I've sold it already ;)
google avatar

Peninah W.

Yelp
Been goin here for years! Yum! Best generals chicken n best crab Rangoon. Also the shrim wrapped in bacon. Nom nom nom.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant for many years! It has the finest Chinese cuisine of any other restaurants of this kind. The customer service is exceptional! The decorating of the interior is awesome! I recommend this establishment to anyone!
google avatar

Natasha S.

Yelp
I've eaten here since I was a kid and no other restaurant will do when I'm craving Chinese. They've made changes over the years, but the food is still incredible and the customer service is always authentic and kind.
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
Very cheap but they give you a lot of noodles. You definitely don't leave hungry that's for sure!
google avatar

Thuy S.

Yelp
We passed by this place many many times and never get a chance to try it until today. There were no expectations as we didn't find a Chinese restaurants in town that were impressive. The restaurant decor was definitely eastern asian, the place is roomy. One one server/ cashier, but the food came out quickly. The food were amazingly impressive. The dishes were super delicious. I had the hot and sour hot and it was spicy and sour, just how the dish supposed to taste like. Overall, ill give it a B+. The Singapore curry bbq pork and eggs noodles was up to my expectations. I was impressed how the noddles had just enough curry flavor but not too over powering the protein and vegetables flavors, definitely will give it an A. This dish had to be one of the best dish I've had so far in Albuquerque/ Chinese restaurant. The cream cheese wontons were perfectly fried, will give it an A! Two satisfied customers and would recommend this place for anykne who's looking for authentic Cantonese dishes and we shall be back for more delicious dishes!
google avatar

Gary Q.

Yelp
This place is great, been going here for years. I try to get something different each time that I visit. I've yet to be disappointed. My go-to dishes are the shrimp with lobster sauce and the sesame beef (spicy). Great prices and great service.
google avatar

Cecilia H.

Yelp
I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque. They have the best sweet n sour. However they are stingy with the sauce even though I asked for extra sauce. The amount they give barely covers the chicken. Which is why I took off a star. My son ordered the Mongolian beef and it was mostly veggies, but it did tasted good. The restaurant is nice and cozy and not cheep looking like some other Chinese restaurants. I think I will continue to go here.
google avatar

Andy G.

Yelp
Good food. Friendly staff. Very attentive waitress. Price is affordable and the portions are satisfying.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten at in the US. Standard American Chinese menu plus some unusual items. All were very flavorful without being overly salty. My beef with noodles was spectacular (the beef was perfect), and my son's pineapple chicken was superb as well.
google avatar

Carol O.

Yelp
This was the worse food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Egg drop soup rotten, rob wad freezer burnt and sweet and sour chicken was rotten. Never eat here.
google avatar

SexyChicken 1.

Yelp
The good. Soda in cans. Tastes much better than soda fountains. Egg drop soup. Served steaming hot and perfectly seasoned. The bad. Salt and pepper pork. Greasy, soggy, extremely spicy, pile of garbage. I asked for a recommendation for a replacement dish. But the management couldn't make a simple recommendation so I left. Two stars for them not charging me for the worst salt and pepper pork in New Mexico.

Susan L.

Yelp
There a few Chinese restaurants near my residence, but I drive past them to come here. My favorites are foil wrapped chicken and hot and sour soup, but all of the dishes I have tried have been very good.

Faith L.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is very nice! We got there the restaurant was pretty busy. Staff was cordial and very accommodating with any requests we had. Food was very good, and great servings for the price! I don't think any of us finished our plate!
