This is an amazing place! We come every year for our anniversary and birthdays! Its so romantic and cozy in there. They are so attentive to you. You never have to wait they keep your drinks filled. They make sure your meals are spread out and never rush you. I would recommend to everyone! The view is so beautiful and romantic! Always reserve for sunset the views our breathtaking.

An absolutely impeccable dining experience. Our waiter Tim was polite and on point, terrific service. We’ve eaten at The Hobbit before so we knew it would be exceptional. My husband had the catch of the day, Swordfish; and I chose the Stuffed Filet. Delicious! We each started with a salad, Roasted Beet for him and Wedge for myself, they were both great. Our wine and dessert cocktails were fantastic and you can see how generous of a portion desserts are served. I highly recommend dining at The Hobbit, it’s a wonderful experience with delicious food!

The Hobbit is an upscale American and seafood restaurant located in the Rivendell Condominium building on 81st Street. It's open Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM Friday and Saturday. My friends and I had a list of spots to try this year, and this one was at the top. We'd heard nothing but great things, so I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. All the food was enjoyable and our server Vern made sure we were well taken care of. We kicked things off with the Cherry Bomb Calamari and the Scallops Tagliatelle. The calamari, topped with toasted coconut and served with Shanghai aioli, was good, but the tagliatelle was the standout. Perfectly seared dayboat scallops paired with housemade tagliatelle in a truffle butter sauce, with peas, pancetta, Parmesan, and a drizzle of jus gras. Rich, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Next, I tried the cream of crab soup, made with fresh Maryland jumbo lump crab meat. The flavor was rich and well-balanced, but I did encounter a few shell fragments. A truly great bowl of cream of crab should be smooth and shell-free. For our entrees, we ordered the smoked cheddar pierogies, the red wine braised short rib, and the filet mignon. While everything was delicious, the filet was by far the best. You can choose from three preparation styles, we had it blackened, and it was cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection. It's a dish I'd happily come back for.

Food was absolutely delicious. We got calamari, fried green tomatoes, Caesar salad, pierogies, short ribs, scallops, and two kids meals. Everyone loved their food. Pierogies, scallops, and fried green tomatoes were my favorite, unreal. Service was super fast, which was great since we had sleepy kids! Views were gorgeous. A great night.

Food was amazing, service was amazing and atmosphere was amazing. An amazing night for a birthday dinner for our 18 year old. Coconut cream pie was also…you guessed it amazing. Will be back when we are here again in October can’t wait!

What an amazing way to spend our 20th anniversary!🥂 We were blessed to sit outside, and it did not disappoint! The peach caprese salad was delicious! The crab cake and pork chop were divine! And the creme brulee was superb! Gina took great care of us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Thank you!

My wife and I have been told this place was a great experience. So we gave it a shot. This place did not disappoint! The restaurant was beautiful, with amazing views, extremely clean and well kept. The staff was amazing, our waiter was very well versed on the menu and took very good care of us. The food.... the food was delicious, delightful and full of flavor. Probably some of the best dishes my wife and I have ever had. If you are looking for somewhere to have an amazing night and even better food, this is the place for you. Definitely a top pick for a date night in the Ocean City area. We will definitely be returning customers and cant wait to see what other delicious dishes they have to offer. 10/10 recommend.

I came here for my sister’s bachelorette and had a fantastic experience. Food was incredible, as were the cocktails. The LOTR theming was tasteful and charming and we got to enjoy a fireworks show during dinner (put on by a nearby restaurant every Saturday night)! I had the Cherry Clover Club and the Peach Blossom Cosmo, and both were perfection. I also had the duck with peaches and lyonnaise potatoes, which was delicious. Our server Matt was attentive and personable and took care to make our dinner experience great. Runners and other staff were great as well! Highly recommend dining here if you’re in Ocean City!

This place has the best sunset view, and the best most eclectic menu of this past week in Ocean City! Our old friend, who has done very well for himself, offered to buy dinner at the best restaurant in Ocean City, Maryland. I am no fool so I quickly consulted with my Yelp Elite peers in Ocean City and found The Hobbit! Boy, was this a terrific choice! The appetizer selection was unsurpassed in creativity and flavor. The service was first class all the way, we could not have asked for higher quality care by our service team. The view from the dining room was extraordinary and the sunset was spectacular. Parking was free and easy. There is an impressive selection of house-special cocktails and mine was delicious, (24 year-old Mccallen Scotch whiskey) The halibut special was extremely wonderful with late sweet corn and peppers! My chocolate desert was huge and fresh and delicious. My three old friends all raved about their meals! If you happen to be in Ocean City, and you love an epicurean celebration. you cannot do any better. Make a reservation the word is out!

Fantastic experience. I've had this on my list for a while and it was great experience! I recommend making a reservation if you want to try The Hobbit! The highlight of the meal were certain the lamb chops in fact I would two orders next time as my meal! The scallop potatoes, gandolf salad and steak were also scrumptious. The drink were great and views fantastic. I will certainly be back!

The Hobbit was a wonderful choice for an upscale birthday dinner. Everything was excellent! We snagged a last minute reservation after a cancellation due to weather and thankfully it held out for us as we sat outside. The view was great! Food was incredible, even starting with the fresh rolls (of course we got a refill). The crab soup was lovely and catch of the day (halibut) came with corn, bacon, asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Duck breast was done very well. Cocktails and mocktails were wonderful. Our server was excellent and we appreciated the birthday sign :) will return next time in OCMD!

As a long-time frequenter of O.C., I've been coming to The Hobbit for years and have never been disappointed. My appetizer personal favorite is the Lollipop Lamb Chops--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Close seconds are the Smoked Beef Carpaccio and the Elite Baked Oysters, both of which are consistently delicious. When it comes to entrées, I highly recommend the crab cakes and the filet mignon. As for drinks, I'm a huge dirty martini fan, and the "Polish Dirty Thoughts" cocktail (stuffed blue cheese olives) is to die for. The gluten-free options here are outstanding. All the dishes I've mentioned are gluten-free, including the crab cakes. The atmosphere is top-notch--elegant and upscale with gorgeous views of the bay. I recommend coming at sunset for a particularly spectacular view. The service is excellent; the staff are kind, helpful, and welcoming, making every visit a memorable experience.

Looking for a higher end restaurant in ocean city with delicious food, amazing views, and breathtaking views? Look no further than the Hobbit. This restaurant has a healthy mix of everything on their menu. Pictured are some of the appetizers. The calamari was delicious and the crab stack was 11/10. Only comment would be I wish we had some more of the wonton chips. For dinner I had the crab cake and it lived up to the hype. The portion was massive and everything was delicious. Service was fantastic and very friendly. Definitely add the Hobbit to your vacation itinerary.

My partner took me here for our anniversary dinner. We called in same day and was able to get a last minute reservation from a cancellation. So I would recommend making reservations ahead of time during busy seasons. Matt our sever was friendly and attentive. They added a happy anniversary card to our table which I loved. The crab cake was delicious! I also enjoyed our dessert and food. All in all a beautiful restaurant for fine dining in OC.

First time coming here the other weekend. Waited for bar seats with my girlfriend and the wait was worth it. Great atmosphere and a very nice staff. One of the chefs recommended I come in and I was thoroughly pleased with the food and service the whole time. We had the duck cigars and lamb chops for our appetizers and then the short rib and pork chop for our entrees. Everything we ate was phenomenal and we got the mousse cake for dessert to top it off! I'm actually going here again tonight for the second time and I'm excited to try something new!

Love this place !!! Food, Service, & Ambiance outstanding. Have eaten Inside, @ at the Bar, & Outside on patio. Fresh Catch of the Day was a bit pricey for the portion size ($59 for maybe 4 oz Swordfish). That being said, it was delicious. Never had a bad meal here and highly recommend

We spent a long weekend in Ocean City specifically to eat here and it was fantastic! The entrance is an adorable circular Hobbit door, and as you walk through, the white interior reflects the light coming in from the long glass wall facing the marshes. No matter where you sit in the restaurant, you get a great view through that glass wall. Our server was so friendly and kind, she came back to check on us frequently and helped recommend dishes to try. The manager also came by to check on our experience, which is such a simple but impactful gesture! The food was wonderful. We started with duck cigars, and they were so crispy, the meat was tender, and the sauces complimented it well. I had the maple glazed salmon as my entree and the filet was so huge, I couldn't finish it all. I loved the vegetables that came with it, too. My fiancée had the swordfish and dayboat scallop special and it was incredibly fresh and so flavorful. The scallops were meaty and complemented the swordfish flavor well. We will absolutely be back the next time we're down the ocean!

Run...don't walk to The Hobbit!!Amazing place. From making the reservation to arriving and being greeted like old friends to the amazing service and incredible food, I would come back over and over!!

The perfect place for date night, special occasions, or fine dining in OC. Would definitely recommend making a reservation around sunset because the views are gorgeous with the wrap around windows. Reservations an absolute must. The espresso martini was delicious and we all really enjoyed the bread service and food. I will say the cream of crab was a bit cold when it came out, but it was FULL of lumps of crab. Another thing that took off 1 star is that we had to wait quite awhile for our table to be ready (close to 30 minutes). There isn't much waiting space in the restaurant, so we were crowded around the full bar. When someone finally came to take us to our table, they did not offer to comp a drink during our wait or anything. They did take us to a seat in the main dining room (which was nicer than the lounge area we had reserved kind of last minute) but it's not because they were extending any hospitality--it's just because the lounge area was full and people were not getting up from their tables. I'd recommend they instate a 2-hour time limit on tables during busy season or find a way to better accommodate people waiting for tables when they have a reservation. Overall, I'd definitely come back for a nice dinner out in OC.

WOWZA - another awesome night here while visiting OCMD. If you haven't been here, I highly recommend you run (don't walk) to get here. They take reservations and I highly recommend making one as both times I've been here they were packed. The staff is always welcoming and kind to the point where they see you coming and they get the door for you. The drinks here are always fantastic and I think they have a great selection. The service here is always top notch no matter how busy they are. Last evening we had Gaby and she was wonderful! She was so sweet and quick to get anything we needed without us asking. She knew the menu and answered all questions. We started with the oysters and clams. The oysters had a ton of flavor as well as the clams. The clam broth was so good I wish I could box it up and take it home. My chicken entree was chefs kiss! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the jus was so damn good. I would put that on any and everything. Overall, love it here and highly recommend. Ps. Don't forget your camera bc the views here are STUNNING!!

Food was great! GET THE LAMP POPS! We picked this restaurant for its overall scoring in Yelp and they were open on a Monday, and just ordered to go. Everything was good, especially compared to some other restaurants we tried in OC and didn't have high expectations. Scallops were good Lamp Pops, awesome! Duck Cigaras, very good. Scallops, good Ceasor Salad, very good! Highly recommend!

Went at sunset for dinner. Beautiful view and service was amazing and attentive. We had the little neck clams which were in a Thai curry sauce-to die for. Must try. I enjoyed the short ribs over noodles. Coupled with the view-worth checking out for a nice dinner in Ocean City.

The food was really good. I got the pierogis and for dessert, I got Mary's delight. I was in heaven. My sister got the oysters and the beef carpaccio, which she loved. My other sister got the gluten free crab cakes, which she adored. She has been here many times and it is her favorite restaurant. The natural light was gorgeous and we watched the sunset from our table. Our waitress was very kind and attentive.

The food we ordered, from start to finish, was truly outstanding. We especially enjoyed our filet mignoin. It was cooked to our requested preferences and the quality of the meat was superior - no waste whatsoever.The crème brûlée was to die for! Our server, Savannah, proved to us that hospitality is not dead. From her pleasant demeanor, efficient service, unintrustive yet expeditious ability to check on us and keep our beverages refilled, without us asking, to going above and beyond to assure our allergy concerns were addressed. She is truly an asset to this restaurant. The restaurant has a clean, sleek, modern feel. It has a beautiful panoramic view of the bay. The bench seats at our table were exceptionally comfortable. We would have no qualms returning to this restaurant in the future, now knowing that the quality of the food and service is well worth the price.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Do not let the name of the restaurant deter you from trying this fantastic place. The restaurant has large windows for every person seated in the restaurant to view the view of the bay. The staff and the food were wonderful. My husband had the short rib and he loved it. Our dinner reservation was during the sunset over the bay and it was beautiful. We will return on our next visit to OCMD.

Oh my god! I was expecting a nice dinner based on the reviews here but they exceeded my wildest expectations. My boyfriend had the cream of crab soup and lollipop lamb chops for his appetizers and raved about how good both were. I had a taste and he wasn't lying. He had a filet simply grilled. He hates veggies so they substituted a potato au gratin type side that was delicious. His filet was perfectly done. I had the stuffed filet and the crab meat was so good and the filet was a perfect medium rare. I had some custom cocktails that were perfect not too strong and not too weak. For dessert we shared the ice cream sensation and had enough left over to take home. Highly recommend a stop at The Hobbit when you're in Ocean City.

This was our first time here. A number of our local friends highly recommended this restaurant. We were both here for our 6:30 pm dinner reservation to enjoy the sunset. The Hobbit is located on the ground floor of a residential building located on the bay. There was lots of self parking available when we arrived. A staff member opened the door when we entered. I requested the host for window seating. We were seated on a nice window table overlooking the bay and the sunset. My only complaint was that our table was adjacent to a large round concrete support column, which limited our view of some of the other nearby tables in the restaurant. It also made me feel somewhat restricted or boxed in against the window. See my pics and videos. I started with their "LUKE'S LUXARDO" manhattan with Rittenhouse rye whiskey, Dolin rouge vermouth, luxardo cherry and blood orange bitters. served up for $15. My second cocktail was the "SMAUG'S SPICY MARGARITA" with a special South American spirit infused with jalapeno, triple sec, lime, OJ, rimmed with Tajin and garnished with a jalapeno also for $15. I also started with and enjoyed the smoked beef carpaccio with cold-smoked beef tenderloin carpaccio, fried shallots, truffled horseradish sauce, and capers for $16. Our friend recommended the pan roasted duck breast. I enjoyed the pan roasted duck breast with house-aged duck breast, pan roasted, served with truffle creamed peas, balsamic roasted mushrooms, baby turnips, and a rich duck jus for $43. A cup of coffee was $3.25. Our server Alina H. was very knowledgeable. Alina served us very well. Alina also recommended the duck. My total bill was $185 less gratuity. I rated this the best restaurant in Ocean City. We agreed we will return here for another special occasion.

I booked this place for me and my husbands anniversary dinner! The place is very elegant and beautiful on the inside with a great view of the water. We were with our daughter who luckily we brought her portable chair since they didn't have highchairs (not little kid friendly FYI). We ordered a Caesar salad and a cream of crab soup to start off. I really like the crab soup with big chunks of crab pieces :) The soup itself was just the right amount of salt and was delicious. My husband said his salad was just okay. For entrees my husband got the orange glazed short ribs which I got the catch of the day (halibut). Our entrees came out super fast and even our waiter was like oh I didn't even know it would come out that fast ( we were still finishing up our appetizers). We felt a little rushed like the restaurant was upset that we brought our baby with us (mind you she was fine eating her snacks and not crying/make a fuss). So kind of felt weird about that. My husband didn't like the taste of his ribs so he sent it back and got chicken instead which we were told that would take some time to cook..like okay we get it. Maybe they were just busy and want to get people in and out but either way don't like being rushed like that. My halibut had barely any taste and was slightly overcooked. The beurre blanc sauces and summer veggies that came with the halibut was pretty good. My husband likes the chicken a lot more and we then ordered the creme brulee (our favorite dessert). The creme brulee came out and the sugar was a bit burnt on top. There was fruit but it was buried under whipped cream. Just poor presentation. The creme brulee itself had nice flavor so that was good atleast. Very expensive meal with a nice view. Not sure if it's worth all the money.

We absolutely loved our dinner at The Hobbit. Between the wine that the waitress helped us pick out, to the scallops and duck cigars for an appetizer (the duck cigars in particular!!) the pan roasted duck, and the Al Pastor pork chops.... We were stuffed. It was amazing. And then the dessert menu came out, and we got the signature Mary's dessert. My boyfriend had to roll me out of there but it was so worth it!

The Hobbit is an absolute must in Ocean City! The view is stunning no matter where you sit, but it's worth requesting a seat by the windows. Our server gave great recommendations and was knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the garlic spread, which was wonderful. I had salmon in a curry sauce, which was savory and very unique. It's not inexpensive, but definitely worth the splurge!

Ambiance, service and food were great. We were there for my birthday and enjoyed it! Good wine selection, the crab soup is a must. We also had the catch of the day, blackened - the halibut was perfectly cooked.

This was the best meal we had in the OC. My teenagers also enjoyed it and we also had dessert.

Hello Fellow Yelpers! During our visit in Ocean City, MD we stopped for dinner at The Hobbit Restaurant and it was a great decision. The food was delicious. We ordered the catch of the day with a single crab cake, the duck cigars, cream of crab soup, and the seasonal peach salad (can't remember the actual name). FYI they start with warm bread rolls and OMG are they delicious. The catch of the day was a swordfish and it was tasty. The crab cake was made to perfection. The cream of soup was also full of flavor and a must try. The duck cigars were not my thing but my husband loved them. The peach salad with mint and mozzarella were excellent. The service was exceptional from the minute you walk in the door. Our waitress' name was Angela and she was great. The ambiance is beautiful for a romantic dinner; the views are priceless, sadly it was raining so I did not capture an image. Outside seating it an option too. I strongly recommend The Hobbit for a nice sunset dinner. FYI: it is somewhat pricey but every now and then indulging is a must.

The Only Review You Need To Read This was our first visit to this restaurant. The front looked like the entrance to a hotel, but we were welcomed in by a friendly smiling host. The ambiance inside was elegant and perfect for date night, the view out the windows of the bay was spectacular, and the food? A solid "very good." The cream of crab soup was salty (not a problem for me) and there was a ton of crab meat mixed in. Unfortunately there was also several pieces of shell mixed in as well. The filet mignon was tender, flavorful and perfect. It paired nicely with the soy & shallot butter. Not a huge fan of hard green beans, but the mashed potatoes were good. The creme brûlée for dessert was not-so-perfect. The burnt sugar top shell was hardly burned and not crispy at all, and the slice of strawberry that came with it was very tart. Overall, I'm not sure I would go back again myself - not because it was disappointing (it wasn't - you couldn't go wrong with dining at this restaurant), but there just weren't enough options of items on the menu that riff raff like me would find appealing. I'd go back again for the filet mignon, wonderful service from the attentive serving crew and the view, but that would be it.

Words really cannot describe it, but I'll try my best. If I could give this restaurant a higher rating, I would. This has been the greatest dining experience in my history of coming to OCMD. The hostess, manager, chef & our waitress, Gaby, really made us feel welcomed and catered to our every need. They took our sons peanut & tree nut allergy VERY seriously. They very extremely knowledgeable of the menu, but also spoke directly w/ the chef to ensure every ingredient was mentioned, gloves were worn, and there would be no cross-contamination. THANK YOU for making us feel 100% safe for our son to dine there! Our reservation was for 8:45pm. We arrived early to check in. We got to relax on a comfortable lounge sofa, but we were also offered the opportunity to sit at the bar. The restaurant was busy so we opted for the lounge sofa. The manager was so sweet, she gave us several updates as to how much longer it would be before our table was ready. We arrived 40 mins. early do we didn't mind waiting, but surprisingly we received our table about 20 mins. early! The staff was constantly cleaning which was great. Empty plates didn't stay long on our table and our water glasses were refilled quickly. Not once did we need to ask our waitress for anything, she was on top of it! Gaby was THE BEST waitress!! The ambiance was truly amazing and the view was breathtaking. TIP: make sure your reservation is around sunset, the sky glows in so many vibrant colors. All the food we ordered was PHENOMENAL! I had the Pan Roasted Duck Breast. This was the 2nd time in my life I've eaten duck and the bar is now set extremely high. The breast was cooked to a perfect medium and had an amazing pan seared crust. The huckleberry compote brought a nice subtle sweetness that perfectly complimented the breast. The vegetables were seasoned with love. Every ingredient shined with its own personality, but also balanced each other. I love trying new dishes, but I already told my wife that I'm getting the Pan Roasted Duck Breast again next summer. I'll dream about this dish. Compliments to the chef! With a perfect score of 25 out of 25, I happily give this restaurant an A++! Overall verdict - highly recommend Will 100% return in summer of 2023. P.S. Make sure to book your reservation early. Reservations fill up fast & you can book up to a year in advance.

Had a great dinner at The Hobbit this evening for my fiancés birthday. The server made his birthday super special and was very attentive. The food and view was absolutely amazing!

I've been going to OC and eating at the Hobbit since I was a teenager. The last three years I've taken my wife. Still an excellent restaurant: delicious food and attentive service even when they're busy. Also the view of the bay is beautiful and I love the Tolkien-themed decor is fun.

Absolutely the best fillet mignon and crabcakes we have ever enjoyed. The service and atmosphere were impeccable. The side of au gratin potatoes hit the spot as well. Looking forward to returning.

Beautiful view, wonderful food been going every year for about 6 years and never disappoints. Wonderful service, always on top of it all the staff. Always get crab imperial filet mignon, it melts in your mouth everything. Good mashed potatoes and delicious rolls, lollipop lambchops are the best.

Best dining experience at the beach, hands down. Owner is kind, and engaged with guests. Menu is comprehensive and updated frequently. Passion in every dish. The cream of crab soup is worth every penny, with massive jumbo lump chunks of crab meat in a velvety smooth, rich bisque. I would get 2 if I had room! The scallop appetizer is creative and delicious. Chorizo-dusted scallops, and a lovely red pepper sauce, just top top top!! My entree was orange glazed short ribs. Few places have competed for taste and quality with my own, but this dish just sings to you. Love the lo-mein noodle base, and I am now working to copy everything about this dish so I can make it at home. Exceptional. Get the ice cream dessert, there's a real story behind it, and it's amazing. Just be sure to get enough spoons to share because the portion is generous. Kudos to The Hobbit. The only thing better than the food is the amazing view at sunset. I'll be back!!

Partner and I were in town for a short time and just heard about this restaurant last night.  Unfortunately, reservations were available only starting at 8p, but we were hungry so we decided to stop by at 6p just in case there were any cancellations...we had 2 other restaurants in mind for plan b.  Luckily, they were able to accommodate us on their patio! For refreshments, we started off with their hobbit sunset and shire garden margarita...both were pleasing to look at and to taste! For appetizers, we shared their cream of crab soup, which was creamy, perfectly seasoned and had bits of crab in each hearty spoonful.  We also shared their garden salad, which comprised of fresh veggies and a tasty dressing. For entrees, my partner had the mahi mahi, which was perfectly cooked and flaky!  It was a pretty large portion nestled atop a couple of nice sauces accompanied by cauliflower and broccoli rabe along with a nicely fried croquette.  I had the short rib bourguignon, which was top-notch!  No knife was needed since the meat was delicate and fell off easily with the fork.  The sauce was rich and tasty and was accompanied by a nicely cooked onion and fried onions on top, mushrooms and carrots along with mashed/pureed potatoes. Both entrees were excellent! We topped the dinner off with the chocolate rum mousse cake.  The cake was moist and the mousse was rich!  There was a slathering of a sweet cream icing (which was sweet and smooth, but not sugary) and then another layer of a light, creamy whipped cream was added.  This sat atop a delicious sauce, which we think was raspberry.  Pretty decadent! Bottom line, the service was fast and friendly and the food was excellent!  This establishment is a mandatory visit if you're in OC.

The place is beautiful, and the people are great! Our server, Taylor, was the best. She handled the kitchen mistake perfectly. The food was ok, filet came out too cooked and we got another pretty quick. Thats the only reason for the rating, if not for the food issue it would have been 4-5 star. Will go back for sure.

Definitely in the top tier of places to eat in OC. Staff is very friendly, restaurant has an amazing view of the bay and the food is outstanding. I ordered the PAN ROASTED DUCK BREAST WITH CARAMELIZED LOCAL PEACHES House-aged duck breast, pan roasted, served with lyonnaise potatoes, caramelized local Bennett Orchard peaches, and peach jus. Topped with frisée salad It was OUTSTANDING!! It's a little pricey but well worth it. Enjoy!

I went here for a friends celebration in the summer 2023. I had a yummy cocktail at the bar that was great! We moved to a table and we had exceptional service. The beef carpaccio was one of my favorite bites in OC. The rest of the food, while good, was not quite as good as I was expecting based on how popular this spot is. I plan to give it another shot but my initial trip makes me think this will be a go-to for a cocktail and a snack but not a full meal.

Nothing Special! Made reservation a month in advance to celebrate my wife's birthday, I told them the occasion and requested a table by the window, mentioned the request again when they contacted me to confirm our reservation and again the day of our reservation. When we arrived we noticed that almost all the window tables were set up for large parties so our chances of getting a window table for our small group were practically zero. Had they been honest about how few small window tables they had we could have made a more informed decision and would probably have chosen a different restaurant for this occasion, but would probably have given The Hobbit a try another time. Instead we showed up and suffered through an overpriced, not at all special, meal with the only acknowledgment of our celebration being a generic Happy Birthday tent card on the table. We just wanted to share our experience in hopes of saving someone else from the same fate.

Quality of food is reliable and doesn't disappoint. I love the view of the bay; sometimes I come by for apps and a drink at the bar. I

Ambiance, service and food were all outstanding. A local OC friend highly recommended The Hobbit. We were six friends from all over the US in town for a class. This was our farewell dinner. Our table was by the windows so we could enjoy the golden rosy hued sunset. Very attentive staff. Our wait person checked in frequently to make sure our needs were met. We started by sharing orders of fried green tomatoes with crab meat. Everyone was pleased with their entree selection. And let me state Mary's Dessert is NOT to be missed-- a large serving which can easily be shared.

Your price listing need to be updated for summer 2024. It is not helpful to be surprised by prices higher than expected. NOT THE RESTAURANT'S MISTAKE, IT IS YOUR MISTAKE.

2023 Update: still one of the best restaurants in OCMD, always dependable. Food is great, service is top notch, Taylor took good care of us, never an empty glass, food was delivered quick and hot. I had the Filet, wife had the Crab Cakes. Filet was melt in your mouth, and the crab cakes were about the size of racquetballs and were all crab meat, very tasty. Try it, you will be glad you did.

I can't say enough good things about this place. We made last minute reservations to celebrate our anniversary early and couldn't have chosen better. The view was stunning- ceiling to floor glass windows. We got to watch the sun set. Our appetizers, not posted, the mussels and the calamari were amazing but the short rib was to die for. Our waiter, Trevor, was friendly and did a great job checking in at the right times and making the experience seamless. If you're celebrating any kind of special occasion or just want a nice place for dinner, this is it. We will 100% be back.

This is a very good restaurant. Our recent visit with my wife and another couple was most satisfying. The prices are in line with the portions and fresh preparation and we each thoroughly enjoyed our meals. And the view at sunset is spectacular. Go there!

Wow! Wow! Wow! These restaurant hits every mark every time! I highly recommend coming here 30 minutes before sunset so you watch the sun set over the bay! The floor to ceiling windows provide one of the best views. I've been here a few times and have yet to have a negative experience. Service is superb, food is outstanding, and the drinks are fantastic. I usually get the cream of crab soup (one of the best I've ever had) and the blackened filet (seasoned perfectly). In the summer I usually eat here 2-3 times a month it's that delicious. If you've never been, GO!!

We enjoyed an early dinner as they were very booked a week out. The views are very beautiful on the bay. We sat in the bar area in a booth by the wall and still enjoyed the view. They only sit couples outside. We started with a peach caprese, a few peaches had a funny taste but the combination was a nice summer twist. Also had a crab soup with nice lumps of crab and the garlic spread which was very good. For dinner my daughter had the chicken which she enjoyed, moist and flavorful. My husband had the pork chop which was supposed to be juicy but unfortunately I think they rushed it as everything was coming out a little too fast and perhaps the pork chop sat too long. The flavors were very nice but the chop had a watery taste. My macadamia crusted salmon was also slightly over cooked. The coconut rice accompaniment was yummy. Our bottle of pinot noir went well. We went for desert elsewhere as my daughter wanted to check out the boardwalk.. PS -the hobbit door was adorable.
