The Best Italian Subs In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"For Philadelphia-inspired hoagies crammed with jarred things like giardiniera and Mama Lil’s, check out Hog Island, a sub operation located inside Petoskey's. It’s impossible to go wrong with the namesake Hog Islander. The cold cuts are generously layered, but the entire bundle is compact enough to become a nice lunch without requiring you to take the afternoon off to go for a walk. And to get into that East Coast spirit, tack on a sack of Herr’s chips." - aimee rizzo

The Seattle Boat Sandwich Guide

"For Philadelphia-inspired hoagies involving a combination of meats and lots of spicy pickled stuff, Hog Island (located inside Petoskey's) is our #1. It’s impossible to go wrong with anything here, whether you’re in the mood for a hero with ham and white american cheese or a vegetable hoagie with olive tapenade and roasted tomato, but our favorite is the namesake Hog Islander. It comes stacked with ham, salami, coppa, mortadella, provolone, and spicy peppers—and to really get into that east coast spirit, tack on a bag of Herr’s chips." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

Overpriced! I got a single hoagie to go and with a 20% tip it came out to $30. They added a fee for taking the sandwich to go which is ridiculous. The hoagie was good but their coleslaw is actively bad, it would be a good deal for $15 but because it's $30 I will never go back. I also felt like it took a long time for me to get my food given I was the only person ordering food in the bar. The bar itself is just a sports bar and one that doesn't seem to have much character.

Yeah OK, the sandwich was good. However, I paid $25 after all the taxes and fees for one small sandwich. Also, they forgot part of my order and had to make it after I got there. I could easily go to a place like Jersey Mike’s that has sandwiches that are, I think, just as good at half the price.

Google
$25 for a sandwich is insane. They added an $1.75 takeaway few plus I thought it said it came with chips and there were none. The sandwich was good but no sandwich other than a muffalata in NoLa is worth $25.

Google
I’m downgrading what I would normally rate this place for one specific ingredient - they no longer offer the soft French roll and The Sea Wolf hoagie is really not a great match to these sandwiches. I can’t imagine getting a cheesesteak on it, it’s too tough and not what I came to love about the sandwiches here. The sandwiches are rad but I’ll refrain from ordering until the soft roll comes back to the menu because it’s too much $$$ for a sandwich if you don’t like the bread…

Google
I ordered twice from this restaurant, as I'm too far from other sandwich places for pick up/delivery. On both occasions, my requests to leave the sandwich whole and omit the hot peppers were ignored. This last order led to a bad night of intestinal illness, from both ends. I'll leave Hog Island Hoagie off my list of places to eat at or from.

Google
Solid sandwich experience at Hog Island Hoagie today. When we arrived we weren't 100% sure we were in the right place-- it's inside Petoskey's Pizza and didn't see much Hog Island-related signage. We arrived during typical lunch hours and there was only one employee working, so it took maybe 15 minutes for two sandwiches, but not a big deal for us. The Hog Islander (Italian sub) was delicious and the American Hero was pretty good too. We'll be back!

Google
My official plea to bring back the old roll! We moved here from Philadelphia and these sandwiches have always been a taste of home but I gotta tell ya this new bread isn’t it…it’s too dense and the outside is too hard and overall has too much chew to it…

I read about this restaurant in the news and I’d just like to say thank you for standing for what’s right. As Americans it seems we as a society have been slowly losing our values and I’m happy to hear this cafe has a clear understanding of what’s theirs.
