10 Best Korean Fried Chicken Spots in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"MacArthur Park’s Hoho Chicken actually takes the crumbly-crusted skin of a more traditionally Southern-style of fried chicken preparation and tosses it in a less viscous Korean glaze so that soy garlic and spicy gochujang-based sauces reach every nook and cranny of its crunchy skin. Served with plastic gloves, it’s a welcome change of pace for the smoother-skinned fried birds that are common in the Korean fried chicken genre." - Euno Lee

Small casual restaurant with some seating. Very limited parking nearby. Not fast food - it's cooked to order so there's a wait but it only took about 15 minutes or so. The food was all pretty good, with our favourite being the wings (we got ours with galbi sauce). Everything was very fresh and flavourful - we tried the chicken bento, combo beef and chicken plate, wings, black milk tea with boba, and a couple extra pieces of tempura that they were kind enough to offer us on the house. I think I'd recommend getting wings and some sides over the bento, which were tasty but not as standout. The service was also actually really friendly, which I never expect but am always really happy to see.

Got 20 pieces (Garlic & Spicy Chili) with the Fried chicken dumplings. Reviews and photos look good so wanted to give this place of try. It's small, located in a plaza with parking (or you can park on the street). There's a good amount of seats. Food was cooked well, wings were juicy inside and outside was crunchy. The dumplings were good; creamy inside and crunchy on the outside. But honestly, I was disappointed because both flavors were sweet (I prefer hot wings). I got Garlic & Spicy Chili since they aren't flavors I'd expect to be sweet. If you're into the sweet and spicy for wings then you probably like this place but it's not for me. Note: this was before the bs shutdown

Google
$10 for a great, delicious teriyaki bowl and great, clean restaurant. Can’t ask for much more!

Google
This place was used to be Korean(sweet chili: yangnyum chicken) style fried chicken but recently grand opened and they now have the chicken teriyaki bento box and few selections of sushi rolls. I have tried Korean fried chicken and teriyaki as well as sushi rolls-they are bomb!!!! This is now my goto spot to togo meal or even quick everyday meal. The food tastes fresh😆 they even have boba like coffee flavors, they use fresh real fruit for strawberry banana smoothie, and tea flavors like their match green tea and black milk tea my favorite!! Cannot wait to try others in their menu.

Google
I've just recently moved to Cali right down the street from here & lemme tell you sumn. I couldn't have picked a better spot to eat at in any given evening. Teriyaki Chicken plate is my go to & it's some of the best teriyaki chicken Ive had. Yall GOTTA try this joint. Only thing is waitin sometimes cuz it's made to order but other than that it's really good food. I'm already a regular ‼️‼️

Google
Really good and fresh fried chicken! They made it right after I ordered and it tasted great back at home. Their teriyaki chicken is tasty too.

Google
This place was perfect in every aspect. The taste was closest to typical, old school Korean Chicken taste which I never had ever since 2007. I am very picky about taste of oil when the food was fried. This place has by far the best tasted clean cooking oil I have ever had. The chicken was extremely crispy while inside of the breading was moist. I chose three different sauces, Soy Garlic, Lemon Pepper, Spicy...(I don't remember the name but sweet and spicy red sauce). My preference was Spicy Red -> Soy Garlic -> Lemon Pepper I guess my husband was Soy Garlic -> Lemon Pepper -> Spicy Red Pickled radish was little too small to pick with chopsticks, but tasted right. Owner was quiet guy but I liked it especially when the time we live in is like this(pandemic/lock down/social distance) :)

Google
If you're into korean fried chicken, this is the place to go. Amazing breading and the chicken is juicy and really soft. Definitely my go to for Korean fried chicken. Also there is plenty of parking at the lot. Only gripe is the wait times. When I was only one there it was a 20 minute wait so can't imagine what it's like when it's a full house.

Yelp
Okay so depressed for fried chicken I go Yelp look up fried chicken near me because I'm at work & HoHo pops up! Decided to walk here & I don't recommend because the neighborhood is sketchy but the inside of the place is very clean & nice. The restrooms is even clean! There were also people who worked in the area eating there for lunch! I thought this place was a bit pricey for fried chicken or & fries but for the best presentation & TASTE of the chicken it's worth it!!!! You will not be disappointed! I had the soy garlic! So yummy! It satisfied my fried chicken craving!!!

Yelp
Under new ownership, the original guy is gone and I'm not sure where this place is going to go. It's a husband and wife and they looked a little lost and overwhelmed. As of now the cook is the same but who knows how long he'll be there for since they're trying to add a bunch more to the menu. Like teriyaki, sushi, and bowls. Not sure if that's going to bode well since they are known for doing one thing right and that's making some fantastic KFC. The wings even though still good did get a little more saltier. It just doesn't feel the same anymore.

Yelp
Was over at my friends house and saw this place was 4 minutes walking distance. So I decided to walk since I didn't have my car. Big mistake. Very sketchy area. But besides that, they make the food as you come which I enjoyed because I know I'll be getting my food fresh. I had the 6 piece soy garlic fried chicken and the chicken teriyaki. The fried chicken was hot and crispy. Looking forward to trying different flavors if I am ever in a Chicken mood. The chicken teriyaki was decent but not something I would go back for. Overall it was good food and staff was appreciative and friendly.

Yelp
Grand Opening new menu! I love this new grand opened chicken teriyaki, sushi and fried chickens restaurant. (Korean style) my favorite is sweet chili flavor!! So goood!!!!!! And their teriyaki and sushi roll are so good. it is a perfect for everyday meal!
google avatar

Hagar A.

Yelp
We ordered fried rice and medium sized boneless chicken. Tasty food but a little pricey in my opinion. There's a small parking lot if you're driving. The vibes felt more like a fast food place than a restaurant.

Yelp
i really liked it here. staff is super nice. not the best spam musubi or boba i've ever had in my life but pretty solid!

Yelp
A Ktown institution. Used to work down the street from here and we'd order at least once a month as a treat. I hadn't been in quite a while but the quality was still superb. The Galbi sauce on anything (boneless or bone-in) is still incredible. Sweet with some peppery notes. Tried the onion rings out for the first time and was not disappointed. So crispy with chunky onion on the inside. No empty breading. More expensive than I remember but that's the reality of life today.
google avatar

Joon Hyon Y.

Yelp
I periodically order fried chicken wings with lemon&pepper flavor along with French fries, and it's the best fried chicken in the area. I also tried their California roll and tempura roll which were both tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant which seems very clean and the owner who are an older couple, are very kind with great service.

Yelp
I've had many KFC (Korean fried chicken) in my days, from LA to NYC, and this is hands down the best I've ever had. The competition isn't even close. I've never had KFC from actual South Korea, but of the ones I've had in the States, this is the BEST one I've had. Flavor: 5/5. I usually get the 20 pieces half and half so that I can have two seasonings. I usually get the sweet chili and soy garlic. The sweet chili is a great balance of savory, sweetness, and aromatics. The soy garlic has a good garlic flavor that doesn't overwhelm the soy. Every bite of chicken is flavorful - there's some restaurants that only make the skin flavorful but the seasonings here permeates throughout the chicken. Every bite is delicious. Very addictive. Crispiness/cook: 5/5. It is fried to perfection! The breading thickness is the perfect balance of crisp and crunch vs juiciness of the meat. Every bite is juicy and tender, whether it's dark or white meat. I've always gotten take out from them and they always package the container in a way that lets air escape so that the crunch doesn't get soggy. Very thoughtful and ensures the crunchy experience lasts until my last bite at home. They do have free parking in their parking lot but it can be tight. The joint looks like a hole-in-the-wall place and the food is exactly what you'd expect from one - deliciousness! You have to purchase the radish separately here, but I'd highly suggest you get it as it adds a refreshing crunch to the meal that breaks some of the heaviness (adds a nice freshness). I cannot recommend this place enough. I live in West LA and have braced the dreaded 10 freeway just to get this!

Yelp
Mom and Pops new owner and they are sweet my boys love the chicken wings from here. The only thing is they don't deliver anymore but other than that I still love this place

Eunice L.

Yelp
The place is under new ownership. Best chicken wings in town!! It is crispy out and so moist inside at a very affordable price. Got a try it!

Michelle K.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazzzing service. It's not in a crowded area so I was able to find plenty of parking! I think a cute old couple runs this business and they are absolutely the sweetest. I can tell they really put love and effort into the food! Its actually very big and spacious inside. Very clean. I togo-ed mine but I think ill go and eat there next time. Very good prices and the food was amazing. Chicken was still so crispy and the taste of the chicken sauces remind me of the OG ones in korea! Definitely a hidden favorite spot of mine. I recommend the garlic soy flavor and make sure to get their coleslaw!!
google avatar

Alberto M.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant during my lunch break and ordered some Boneless Sweet Chili with Fries. These were really good. The ambiance was a bit empty, but service was good and fast.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
Food comes out hot and fresh. Got the lunch combo for about $17. With tip $19. Comes with 3 pc chicken, fries, rice or coleslaw, and a drink. Pretty solid meal for the price. The food I good quality. I had the soy garlic and it came with 2 thighs and a drumstick.
google avatar

Lily Y.

Yelp
Great place to get some good Korean Fried Chicken! The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They have different flavors. You can get with bone or boneless. I think the bone in chicken has more flavor but the boneless is less messy. They make their chicken as your order them so you do have to wait about 15-20 min for the chicken to be ready but it's worth the wait. They have free parking in the lot but area seems sketchy so be careful and stay alert.

Yelp
This joint slaps!!!!!! I've never left a review and I swear this isn't a family review-- this place is genuinely good. Having grown up with the bbq chicken brand my whole life I was scared to try something new since the goofy cashier did get my order wrong-- so I ended up paying and ordering more than I wanted- but I was impressed nonetheless. The chicken looks different but it is EVEN JUICIER THAN BBQ CHICKEN I KID YOU NOT. Even the radish-- which large franchises like bbq chicken no longer care about- is on point. I could literally drink this stuff. THE CHICKEN DOESNT SMELL (I eat a lot of meat) ONE BIT!!! Don't be scared of the awkward location spot guys give this place a try I can only imagine it's a small mom and pop shop that just needs some exposure!! --some Korean kid

Yelp
Reasonably priced in the middle of 40 year high inflation. I was always getting sweet chilie flavor, but the family wanted to try something else. So we got garlic soy. I tried garlic sot few years ago but didnlt really like. I was oleasantly surprised this time. They must have improved the recipe. The garlic flavor wasn't overpowering and the sweetness and the soy aroma were just oerfect.

Yelp
I came here in search of a beautifully double-fried chicken dinner on my first night in LA- we got a massive order of soy garlic chicken and fried chicken dumplings for the party of 5 to share and the portion was absolutely perfect for us. You bite into the chicken and experience the balance of an immediate crunch and juiciness of the meat, paired with a mild punch of jalapeño. The dumplings were also tasty! The worker at the register was very patient with us and did a great job of explaining how you can customize an order with a variety of flavors if desired. The establishment is also decorated with cute (although, fake) flowers- overall a great dinner and I'm excited to get the chance to go again if I ever return to LA!

Tiff P.

Yelp
The chicken was crispy and delicious. I really enjoyed the food. The service was nice as well!
google avatar

Yelp
Tucked away in a small parking lot. It's got tons of seating, doesn't seem like a busy spot so you will have fast service. Free parking. The chicken is juicy and large for the price. They also offer rice bowls and salads. Good if you are hungry and need something fast in the area. Wouldn't make a long trip for it though.

Yelp
Best korean style chicken in LA!!!! My favorite place! I HIGHLY recommend this place! So delicious!!
google avatar

Yelp
Favorite Korean fried chicken. Soy garlic and lemon pepper are my favorite. Love love love this place. I was so worried this place wasn't gonna survive Covid but I'm so glad they did. Biggest fan right here.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite KFC place! (Korean Fried Chicken) It's always a hit when I bring it to parties too. Their spicy chili is the best! It's not that spicy, so most people can eat it and still enjoy the taste. The outside is so crispy and when you bite in 5it's like heaven! I normally get 6 pieces and it's more than enough for one serving. Orders are usually ready with in 20mins if they're not busy. I usually call ahead and time it so I get there right when it comes out to enjoy maximum crunchiness! There is a small parking lot in the front that can probably fit 6 cars but I never really had a problem with finding a spot to pick up togo orders.

Yelp
First time coming in. Food was OK for crunchy korean wings. Garlic flavor not too hot. Wings are fresh and prepared to order. Prices are fair for what u get. About $20 for 12 wings. Got the wings in a box, but had to ask for plates, napkins, etc because we ate inside. It was super hot inside because they are too cheap to put AC on even though its hotter than 100 degree F outside. The furniture is cheap and flimsy. When I was done I asked for a box but the tall guy behind the counter refused to give me one saying "we dont give that". Well not really worth a try and Korean wings places are a dime dozen. Many better places in LA save your money for something better.

Chrissy M.

Yelp
The best fried chicken ever! The food was super delicious, crunchy, and flavorful. The meat to crunch ratio was perfect, and there was plenty of meat. The sweet chili flavor was my favorite. I recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty friend chicken.
google avatar

Joellen C.

Yelp
CAN I GET A meaty Y-U-M!! Love this place! Their portion sizes are huge, all of their variations are flavorful, & they really do put a lot of meat on their bones. My favorite flavors in order are: *Garlic *Sweet Chili *Lemon Pepper *BBQ *Pineapple Soy Prices are $8.99 for 6 pieces which seem little at first, :,( but since each piece has a ton of meat on them as oppose to other Korean fried chicken places, 6 pieces will for sure fill you. Now if you want more for the taste, that's really up to you and how large your wallet and belly can expand.
google avatar

Rei E.

Yelp
Our favorite is the sweet and spicy chicken. We love it! second is the lemon chicken. Our order always comes hot and smoking when we come in and pick it up.
google avatar

Janelle L.

Yelp
This is an extremely unassuming little fried chicken joint located in a slightly sketchy corner strip mall. The chicken is well done. We ordered 10 soy garlic wings. It has a crispy but light crust that's just enough for the sauce to stick to. We also got the chicken dumplings and queso fries. I was excited that they had chicken dumplings but was disappointed upon receiving them. I'm positive the dumplings are frozen and just dumped into the deep fryer. The queso fries were fine but nothing special or exciting. I would love if they did a plate of fries topped with boneless fried chicken, maybe sprinkled with some real cheese or even queso fresco, corn and drizzled with crema.
google avatar

Joselyn C.

Yelp
I stopped here only because I was going to the market on the side , we saw this place under HOHO chicken and immediately I was like let's check it out. We go over and we get an order of the boneless wings BBQ flavor. They sell the single order which is 11.99 w/ 1 flavor. We waited about 10 minutes the guy gave us our order and we tried it for the very first time and I was highly satisfied. The crunchiness of the chicken is was I loved the most but also the softness of the chicken. I will be coming back to try a different flavor! Highly recommend
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
i'm only giving this place 4 stars because the cook made my food without gloves but other than the the service was good, the prices are decent, the place was clean & the food was bomb!!!

Justin L.

Yelp
Maybe I ordered on a off day. Had boneless with the sweet and spicy sauce. Kinda wished it was more crispy and I live in the area so I know it didn't get soggy from the commute time. I constantly checked to see if the food was completely cooked because I felt it was kinda soft in the inside. Honestly couldn't tell because my sauce is red lol. Fries were pretty soggy as well. But don't get me wrong, all the previous times they were spot on... Ima give it another try and see how it is but until then 3 stars.
google avatar

Darylynn D.

Yelp
First off, the place is in the boonies of MacArthur Park, but don't be afraid. When you walk in it's completely clean and simple. I've tried the original fried chicken and sweet chili bucket of chicken. The original was very crispy. The sweet chili was really good and saucy. The bad thing though was because I got chicken after a few bites the flavor got lost. If it was a wing instead of drumstick or breast it would be excellent. I'm up to try this place again and the other flavors.
google avatar

Welkin T.

Yelp
My friend and I met up here and I partially chose it for the free parking based on how crazy it can get in Koreatown on Saturdays. Nevertheless, the food was amazing. I got the 12 piece bone in fried chicken without sauce. The chicken remained crisp throughout my meal and was cooked perfectly and not greasy or anything. For my personal taste, it could have used a touch of salt, but it was still some of the best chicken I've had since being back in the United States. The atmosphere is really unassuming. It looks like fast food place. I like that about it though. All you need and nothing more, which is a lot better than paying a ton of money to eat at a trendy restatement that has sub par food. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Moo
google avatar

Jojo M.

Yelp
The garlic and hot are the best! Great portions = good value. Though I usually prefer bone in, the boneless is better here because the chicken to sauce to crunch ratio is better lol. They give you plenty of napkins and gloves when ordering takeout, which is cool. Thumbs up.
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
Dang, I must have caught them on an off day. I've only ever had Korean fried chicken from Gol Tong Chicken - EVERRRRR in my whole life and it's AMAAAAZING every single time. I have a habit of sticking to what works but for some crazy reason when I got my friend chicken craving I thought "be adventurous. you have to try new places" so I got on yelp and found this place with all the rave reviews so BOOM I came through and ordered half chili half garlic chicken. 1st: it was SOGGY wtf I was confused, flummoxed, perplexed even. How the heck, what in the world, what dimension - SOGGY fried chicken? 2nd: It was BLAND. It was so bland but these reviews RAVE about the flavor and crispiness. I thought "omg, it must be you, it's your taste buds - YOU CAN'T TASTE, ITS COVID. COVID TOOK TOUR TASTE BUDS" Yes, I truly thought this for a few seconds. Then I tasted some peanut M&Ms and they tasted just fine so WHEW it wasn't my taste buds it was just their bland soggy ass chicken. I don't like wasting money OR wasting my tongues time so I won't be coming back but y'all enjoy this weak ass chicken while I stick to the rivers and the lakes that I'm used to

Yelp
The first time I came here I ordered the single boneless sweet chili chicken gangjeong for $10 (there's a $10 minimum for credit cards!) as did my friend Bert. The food came out in an understandable amount of time (15-20 minutes I'd say). The flavor of my sweet chili boneless chicken was simply delicious. I'm a fan, so much so that I came back here a second time to try the Garlic boneless chicken. My friend Andrew got the bone-in Garlic chicken. We both loved the Garlic flavor, though I must admit that I was slightly missing the kick that the sweet chili had. Of course, there are also so many other flavors left for me to try that I'll definitely have to come back because I seriously love chicken gangjeong. I wish I had some sort of roughage to go with my chicken, like rice or something. I'll be coming back to try the rest of the flavors. Note: to use the restroom, you must ask for the restroom key!
google avatar

Nick L.

Yelp
This place is the closest Korean fried chicken place near my workplace, so I had to try it! It's best if you call ahead to pick up because it can take a while for the chicken to be cooked. It definitely seems like everything is made to order. I never order the chicken with any kind of sauce. It's not that I don't like the sauces (never tried them), but the breading can get soggy, especially if you're getting it to go. The chicken itself has a great crunch, and sometimes it's a bit too crunchy. I wouldn't venture to say that it's overdone because the meat certainly isn't dry, but that's just what I experienced. The owners there are very nice, and the place is always very, very clean. And while it certainly isn't the best fried chicken (or best korean fried chicken) I've ever had, it is decent and well-priced and I will keep coming back!

Yelp
POSTMATES REVIEW.. Meh, I really wanted to like this place. I read another postmates review and they said their chicken came in kind of soggy - ugh, they were right. Who wants soggy chicken ? Not I - the parts that were not soggy tasted good tho :) I got the original - bad choice - I should have gotten one of the ones with spices or something but I was being cheap lol I got the fries - I ate those before all the chicken haha They did come fresh and hot and well seasoned. Will try this place again but will order in person and not delivery.
google avatar

Kat K.

Yelp
I just got a $15 takeout from them and holy chicken it was amazing. Fresh, crunchy, hot, well seasoned. I ate it while sitting in traffic on the way home from work and all my neighboring drivers were ogling me because they wanted some. Just kidding, probably because I was stuffing my face and licking my fingers. Highly recommend the sweet chili.

Doug M.

Yelp
Yummy but pricy. While 16-pcs is generous, their wings run a bit lean with a nice thick crunchy batter. Either way, it comes smothered generously in the delicious sauce of your choice. A large order of wings can be split in two with different sauces which is nice because they are all, like I said, delicious. I haven't had problems with crust going soggy. Food is cooked to order, which can take several minutes but ensures fresh main order. Unfortunately, every time I've ordered fries, they were soggy. Other than squishy fries, I must point out their prices are not cheap. But if you dont mind forking out some extra bucks...
google avatar

Daewoon L.

Yelp
New owner!! They are really nice. I had single boneless sweet chili gangjeong with rice! Too full! Pretty good for dinner! Boneless is perfect choice If you hate chicken skin! I hate chicken skin.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
I used to live close to this place and this was one of my go-to comfort foods after a stressful week. I used to get the 2 pound boneless order and make rice at home to get 2-3 meals out of it. The chicken is really crispy. My favorite sauce is the sweet chili.
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
Amazing low key spot. Chicken was tender and sauce was great. Onion rings also top notch. Will be back
google avatar

Debbie P.

Yelp
There are so many Korean chicken places in K-town I've tried, and I can honestly say this place has the juiciest, moist chicken. I can't speak for their coleslaw or sides since I haven't tried. There's also a small parking lot, so if you're picking up, you can quickly run in and run out with your order.
google avatar

Eunice K.

Yelp
I love that they give you gloves and the chicken comes out hot I don't know why some people are saying the chicken is like kyochon.. You can tell it's different when looking at the skin. It comes off quickly and the chicken tastes oily and is too flavorful. My friend said it felt like her chicken was disintegrating as she ate it.. The chicken was just not good. I personally don't like the flavored chicken but I do like bonchon and kyochon.. This chicken was not good and I would not recommend it.. Parking is free and there were lots of spots available around 5 on a Tuesday evening
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Should be a sign that says 25 minutes to get your food ready. I was the only one in there lol. Anyway besides the crazy wait for a quick bite the chicken was magical. Got the sweet chili and garlic flavored chicken. The sweet chili was better in my opinion. Free street parking or small lot out front.
google avatar

Doreen M.

Yelp
Great service, new, clean place, small parking lot too. Came here for the first time and it was just okay for me. My boyfriend loved it a lot. I'm picky. LOL The chicken here is fresh tho some of the pieces were super gigantic or I couldn't recognize which part of the chicken it came from so I was a bit weirded out. They make everything when you order it, which is great. On a weekend night, two women were there/leaving as we ordered, we ordered, and one or two more individuals/couples came in... We got: fried chicken combo - we got original flavor which was lightly seasoned, but not enough for me garlic wings - good, but I am not a big fan of wet sauces on my fried chicken (or bbq) as it tends to make everything very soggy or liquid-y hot fire chicken - pretty spicy, but again, not a fan of wet sauces on my fried chicken potato salad - average salad - i was expecting a leafy green salad, got more of what looked like a slaw to me tho the dressing was salad dressing, i even asked to make sure it was salad, and they said it was and it came with Asian pickles - which were good, but I was not in the mood to eat them.

Yelp
Had time to kill so decided to grab lunch first. Decided on this place because it was close by. Wanted the wings, but was told they don't do half and half on sauce flavors. So we opted for the gangjeong and did half hot fire and half garlic chicken. It didn't take too long for our food, but we were also the first customers of the day. Once we got our food my first reaction was wow, that's a lot of chicken. It's huge pieces of chicken drenched in sauce. The food was okay. My garlic chicken had a lot of sauce and too much breading. There was a piece that wasn't drenched in sauce and that was good. The flavor of the sauce was off putting to me. Didn't get much garlic flavor, and a lot of something else that wasn't garlic that I can't put my finger on. The chicken was just wet and soggy. I tried the hot fire and they were better. Overall, would not come back. Price is decent for the amount of chicken, but the taste just doesn't do it for me.
