10 Best Coffee Shops in Madrid | Condé Nast Traveler

"Cual Bicicleta, Mengesha Derese, El Naranjo: The single-origin beans at Hola Coffee hail from multiple continents, and each is roasted to just the right temperature at the owners' off-site roastery. No one will give you the side-eye for ordering a café con leche, but to truly savor these brews' multilayered complexity, spring for a pour-over or a café solo. Sure, Hola will dazzle even the most jaded coffee nerd—it's at the forefront of Madrid's third-wave coffee revolution—but you don't have to know your Chemexes from your nitrobrews to appreciate the café's laidback atmosphere." - Benjamin Kemper

If you’re a coffee lover exploring Madrid, Hola Coffee is a spot you absolutely shouldn’t miss. The space itself is minimalist and chic, with just enough bustle to feel lively without being chaotic. The coffee is amazing, you can have a snack as well. The barista was very knowledgable and friendly. Must visit place.

One of the best coffees I’ve had during my short visit to Madrid. Got the Cortado and it was perfect! It is a small cafe and it was PACKED.

Wow wow wow! Hola Coffee Roasters in Madrid is that spot that makes you rethink what a perfect morning should feel like. Let’s start with the pistachio croissant—flaky, golden layers that shatter just right, cradling a pistachio filling that’s rich without being overly sweet. Absolute perfection. Now the flat white? Textured like velvet, with a microfoam that’s dialed in so precisely it could win awards. Their light roast has this fruity, juicy brightness that gives your palate a clean, vibrant kick—exactly what I needed to start the day feeling like I could conquer Madrid. The vibe? Modern, minimal, and somehow still incredibly warm. Clean lines, curated playlist, and Aesop soap in the bathroom because, of course. It’s the kind of place where coffee lovers geek out and design lovers linger. Every detail, from the pastry case to the perfectly pulled shots, screams thoughtfulness. An unforgettable coffee experience in a city that knows good coffee.

After placing high in a world competition, there’s usually quite a long wait before getting in. It would be helpful if the café provided clearer guidance on how to queue properly. We weren’t trying to cut in line, but someone reacted quite aggressively — probably because there were both people who cut intentionally and others like us who almost did so unintentionally. The area in front of the shop could really use better organization. Once you step inside, though, everything changes 180 degrees. The atmosphere is relaxed yet hip, filled with the pleasant aroma of coffee and the casual kindness of the baristas and servers. There’s a fixed core menu and seasonal specials that change from time to time. Seating inside is quite limited, so you need good timing (and maybe a little luck) to get a spot. If that feels stressful, I recommend getting takeout. They serve it in cute takeaway cups, so you’re not missing out. One of the baristas speaks English well, so ordering isn’t difficult. Overall, both the coffee and milk quality are excellent. It was here that my mother was introduced to the world of espresso, which says a lot about how good the coffee is. I also appreciated that they served sparkling water alongside it. + The café’s character design is really cute. I think they should consider selling merchandise like mugs, glasses, or coasters. The cups were so adorable and practical that I honestly wanted to buy one! ++ This was the only café I visited in Spain that had Aesop hand wash in the restroom, telling you how stylish and trendy this place is. The restroom was also well-maintained.

The decaf coffee I tried was one of the best I've ever had! The prices seem definitely higher than in other coffee shops in Madrid, the bun with cheese was 7 EUR f.ex.

Solid specialty coffee location. The place can get quite over crowded with tourists and laptops. Good coffee options between expresso and batch, but expect to pay a mark up for location. The staff could be friendlier, seems they're over worked.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hola Coffee is hands down one of the best specialty coffee spots I’ve visited in Madrid. I ordered iced lattes, and they were absolutely perfect — smooth, strong, and not overly sweet. You can really taste the quality of the beans they use, and it’s clear they put care and precision into every cup. The flavor had depth, with just the right balance of espresso and milk, and it was super refreshing on a warm day. The vibe of the place is great — minimalistic and modern but still very cozy and inviting. It has a laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer, whether you’re catching up with a friend or just enjoying a quiet moment alone with a book. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they’re passionate about coffee. Service was quick, even though the place was buzzing with people. They also have a small selection of pastries and snacks that looked amazing, so I’ll definitely be coming back to try those next time. If you’re in Madrid and appreciate high-quality coffee, Hola Coffee is 100% worth the visit. It’s a little hidden gem that deserves all the love it gets!
