The Best Restaurants in Bend, Oregon | Eater Portland

"While Hola has several locations in Central Oregon, the downtown location is arguably the best. Hola is a Mexican and Peruvian restaurant (not fusion) offering two sides to the menu. Diners can find ahi tuna on both sides. The Peruvian dish includes large seared tuna steaks served with cause limena cold mashed potato cake topped with avocado, cilantro oil, and fresh scallions. It tastes like Peruvian potato salad. An ahi chili relleno is the Mexican offering. This variation of the classic chili relleno has tender ahi tuna baked with a light red chii arbor sauce nestled in a mild chili bake, enveloped in a white cheese cream sauce, and drizzled with a guava balsamic reduction and vibrant pico de gallo. The mole poblano is another must-try, while the ceviche, perfect for a warm summer day, pairs excellently with Hola’s Tranquilo Mexican-style beer or their award-winning margaritas. Meanwhile, the Peruvian side showcases the costillitas de puerco con aji amarillo—crunchy, fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs in a sweet and sour fruity sauce." - Barb Gonzalez

This was our first time eating at Hola! I was a bit skeptical because I hadn't eaten much Peruvian food, but I decided to give it a try. What a great surprise, my Aji de Gallina was delicious! And I finished every bit of it, including the infused mash potatoes! The Tacos de Halibut and a regular combination of Chimichanga & Enchilada were wonderful too! Our server, Fernando, provided fabulous service from start to finish 👌 Oops, I almost forgot my tasty Vanilla margarita, YUM! Hola! is now my favorite Mexican (& Peruvian) restaurant in Redmond, Oregon!

Google
This place is so great. I’ve been here multiple times. The food never disappoints. We were sat super quick. The waiter Fernando was fantastic! Super attentive, patient to let us order when we were ready. Checked if we needed more to drink when they were low. Friendly, gave us suggestions when we asked. It is a little more on the higher side price wise. But, it’s good portions to take leftovers home 😌 It’s worth coming here for sure! I’ll be back!

Google
The Peruvian food was a pleasant surprise. Had Pescado and the Peruvian Ribs. The ribs were exceptionally delicious, and my wife liked the level of spiciness. Prices were appropriate. The service was great mostly because we came in at 3pm. Strongly recommend coming here again.

Google
Amazing place! Delicious food and great service - thank you Jair! We had ceviche tradicional, lomo saltado, marcos pollo, pisco sour and Fresca margarita!!!! Everything was great! The Peruvian food was perfect! Take it from a Peruvian born and raised! Definitely coming back!

We decided to try this Mexican-Peruvian spot our last day in Redmond. It was just few miles from the hotel where we stayed. It was nothing but good vibes from the time we walked in till the time we left. We were seated immediately as the place was not busy but started to fill up after we arrived. The host was Tatiana, a lovely lady. She took our order and checked on us frequently. The restaurant was full of colors, arts and music and felt so inviting. We didn’t have to wait long for our meals. The food was amazing. Overall, this was a great experience. We hope to go back if we’re ever in the area. This spot is a must try!

Google
The staff at this restaurant were attentive and excellent. I really enjoyed my margarita, which was huge, delicious and worth every penny. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the aji gallena. It lacked flavor, and felt greasy and heavy.

Google
Great food and service! Carne azada is amazing!

Yelp
Food was delicious and filling. Service was slow, but after we ordered the food came out quick. The staff were very friendly and the decor was beautiful.

Yelp
Friday night out. Had an awesome meal at Hola. Margaritas for days, they give you the shakers with the extra. Yay and yum. Chips to start, a surprise of mixed potato and corn, awesome!! Two salsas, green and red. A duo of delish. Super friendly and helpful staff, not too much attention but enough to make sure you're all set. The food was great, enchiladas served with rice and beans all around. We all had different variations and they were delicious. Everyone had plenty for lunch the next day. There was some kind of magic in the rice, so good. Bustling, busy, and bright atmosphere. I would definitely recommend and will certainly be back to try the Peruvian options.

Valerie B.

Yelp
Everything was perfect and amazing. Food is awesome, staff is professional and fast and the green sauce is out of this world great.

Isabel J.

Yelp
Amazing dinner and drinks! The service was amazing - thank you Jair!!!!! And the restaurant was clean with great decorations! We had a ceviche tradicional (Peruvian), lomo saltado and Marcos pollo. And to drink an amazing Pisco Sour and Fresca Margarita! We will definitely be back to taste more of the Peruvian menu...my favorite food! Take it from a Peruvian born and raised!

Yelp
Waiter tried to over charge us twice. Even after he admitted his "mistake " he tried to short us on the change. Bad business!

Yelp
My husband and I pull into Redmond on a Friday night without reservations. Starving and praying we didn't have to end up in a fast food drive thru. A couple of loop arounds the downtown block, we found a diamond in the rough. Walked in the door to a very colorful and open space filled with good vibes. We were attended to right away and outside seating was available. Our waitress helped us right away. She continued to check on us and made sure our needs were met. Excellent place to enjoy a great meal that is sprinkled with some love! The chicken tacos were crunchy and big in size. Crispy lettuce and cheese. Creamy beans and rice on the side were delicious. The shrimp enchiladas were to die for. I wouldn't normally order a shrimp anything but a shrimp cocktail, but the description was hard to resist. Pacific prawns (diced), tomatoes, onions and cilantro sauted in white wine rolled in corn tortillas, covered in green tomatillo sauce topped with cheese, sour cream and avocado slices. WOAH! That's all I'll say The chips were fresh and the homemade green salsa had the perfect fresh taste with a slight kick. Also served with a red salad, also yummy. A well earned return on our list.

Yelp
Hola's is a unique and great restaurant in Redmond! It is beautifully decorated with a wonderful ambiance. The food is amazing! I has the Ahi Chile Relleno - the best Chile Relleno I've ever had.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
My wife and I love to go to Hola's for some of the best margaritas and excellent food. The service is always great. We will be coming back for many years!

Yelp
THE BEST SALSA IN THE ENTIRE WORLD Also, the cactus margarita is fire. Consistent quality across all locations

Dennis N.

Yelp
Horrible service and worse food. Don't waste your time and money like we did. Not sure why the Redmond location is so much worse than Bend and Sunriver locations.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today and had the halibut fish tacos and tamarind margarita. Fantastic flavor in everything. The salsas were great, especially the cilantro salsa. Halibut was grilled with a unique incredible flavor. It came with lots of black beans and rice. It's 9pm and I'm still full from lunch here, so hefty portions. I'll be back!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place after many restaurants were starting to close their doors for only takeout with the corona virus crisis. Since it was still open at the moment for sit down (yay!), we decided to give it a try. As prob our last meal out for a while, we enjoyed it! Hip Mexican bar, with excellent service & great cocktails. Lunch we ordered: Avocado- Pineapple Daiquiri (great drink, fresh, not overly sweet and blended beautifully smooth). Great touch with the 'Hola' written on top too! Carne Asada Plate & table side guac - decent amount of food. I split it with one other and it was the perfect amount for the two of us. Everything tasted pretty fresh, I don't think they use any salt or seasoning in their guac tho... Some salt and pepper would be good. Food was pretty good overall but in my opinion more subtle in flavor.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service at lunch today. My husband had the Peruvian speciality Lomo Saltado, a really delicious dish with steak strips and onions and tomatoes and I had the equally delicious shrimp enchiladas in tomatillo sauce. We also loved the (unusual) cilantro salsa and house-made guacamole.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
The food was horrible. The taco shells were store bought. The pork tacos had no seasoning. The refried beans were cold. The other dishes our table ordered were also terrible. I do not recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Debbie L.

Yelp
We have been to Hola in Redmond many times. The last time we were here it was a very warm day and it was Hot inside. I thought they mist be having ac problems. Nope. Today was even worse. When I am paying $15 + for a cocktail and well over $20 for a meal I want to at least be comfortable. Service was good food was just ok. Won't be going back
google avatar

Holly G.

Yelp
Best Mexican (with a twist) in Redmond! Service is always amazing and the food is top notch. Highly recommend the pineapple cucumber jalapeño margaritas... or red cactus is sure to please.
google avatar

kelsey w.

Yelp
They're margaritas and entrees are so good! They have Mexican and also traditional Peruvian so I love the variety. I get the Marco pollo dish with avocado. I would have given 5 stars but the churros were terrible. Stick to alcohol and the entrees and you will be pleased.
google avatar

Kat A.

Yelp
The food is very good. Drinks are ridiculously expensive. Excellent service, atmosphere is okay
google avatar

Sandi B.

Yelp
My friend and I went in for lunch today. I had black beans, guacamole, pico de gillo and halibut. My complaint was the halibut. It was thin, dry and stringy. Had to cut it with a knife. I just hate to complain, but it was my cash that bit the dust! One good thing was the excellent customer service from start to finish.
google avatar

Marin K.

Yelp
I have been to hola countless times and it has been fantastic! Great service and great food! I always order ceviche but this time it made me unbearably sick. I was very sad because it's not cheap either. It'll be a while before I go back again...

The J.

Yelp
Held a dinner with drinks for a memorial service for 30 plus people. Entire process, from pre-planning, evening event with drinks and individual dinner selections by attendees, handled with grace, accuracy and timeliness by efficient, pleasant and unflappable staff. Top marks by all for great food, flawless handling of happy family chaos and fantastic margaritas! BIG THANKS!

Yelp
The Redmond location is a bit unassuming, but the food was fantastic. First let's talk about the salsa. There are 2 different kinds that come out with the chips. One is chipotle style that has a nice smoky flavor. It's really good. The other salsa is a green cilantro salsa that is nectar of gods good. I got a large side to go, and in hindsight I should have asked for a 5 gallon bucket. This is the second time I've had it, and it was just as great this time. For the main course I had the ahi relleno, and it was fan-freaking-tastic. It was a huge portion, with a light sear on the tuna, and just a wonderful mix of sauce, a balsamic drizzle, mango salsa, sour cream and a rich white cheese. Everything about the dish worked perfect. All in all, the food is great. If I was going to nitpick, I prefer beans and rice with a bit more seasoning, but downgrading the review over something so trivial and preference based would be a travesty and frankly when people do that kind of stuff it's drives me crazy. The food was no doubt 5 star good.

Brandie M.

Yelp
Yummy yummy. All the holds have a different vibe but in my experience I have always had great, attentive service and consistently great margs and good. Today I got my usual tamarid Margarita - sooo good- and a different entrees- seared tuna chili rellenos with rice and black beans from the Peruvian menu- mmm hmm definitely getting again. Unique, savory perfect seared fresh tuna.

Yelp
I usually order delivery from here & all my orders have been correct! In addition the Peruvian dishes are absolutely amazing! Their lomo Saltado is so tender and flavorful I couldn't believe it! They have awesome metal statue outside their building as well! :) I've been working my way through their menu and it's been really great, I didn't enjoy their taco salad. However, I still give them a 5 out of 5 because everything else is perfect!
google avatar

Brandi O.

Yelp
Seriously the BEST Peruvian food! OMG everything we had was soooo flavorful! definitely recommend the Peruvian ceviche as an appetizer, and the Ahi Tuna Chile Relleno were so good! We also had the bacon wrapped shrimp and the Marcos Pollo!!!! We were so impressed by this local gem! This is THE best food in Redmond by far! Bold flavor, amazingly friendly and kind customer service, and the flan and bananas desserts are so good!
google avatar

William R.

Yelp
For all the wonderful meals I've had that I've given a five stars I have to give these guys a 6 out of 5 oh, I had the most wonderful food hi, service, drink, experience of any Mexican restaurant ever been to, ever, period. Sit at the bar and watch Ulysses and the others work and you will be amazed at how fine tune This Crew is. How do you say magnificent in Spanish?

Glenda E.

Yelp
I had been to the Hola's in Redmond several times and the food and Margaritas were always good. On Sunday, the 29th of January, my neighbor and I went for a late lunch. He had never been before and I had told him how good the food had been when I had eaten there. It turned out to be an incredible disappointment! To begin, the restaurant was very cold and only got colder. Instead of three halibut tacos, we got two with little strips of tasteless halibut, black beans and bland rice, a very sour Margarita, and we ordered the bananas flambé and it hawith hardly any ice cream. The bill was over $100.00, more with a tip. I was very disappointed and won't be back.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
New to town and decided to try all of the Mexican food restaurants because it's our favorite cuisine. Came in to this restaurant and We're going away with the service and the quality of food as well as the generous margaritas. We will definitely be back until happy that we found a place to frequent on a regular basis
google avatar

Yelp
Favorite spot to come w friends. Great cocktails. I love their salsas. I like to get their mole enchilada but their empenadas are some of the best I've ever had. So many holas and I love them all.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Hola-Mola! Exceptional staff, nice variety, lesser seen items, refreshing and delicious! I went on halloween, no tricks- just a wonderful treat! They easily cater their far / adjustments for vegetarian eaters. To my delight the entire menu was up for grabs: a vegetarians dream! Quaint and clean. Fair prices. Definitely a place to go back to.

Judy R.

Yelp
hola in redmond, oregon is awesome!!!!! service is great!!!!! food is authentic!!! restuarant is a little small----ish....no complaints!!!!! they do serve alcohol. try it you will not b sorry!!!!!

Terri C.

Yelp
We've lived in Redmond 8 years, why have I never eaten at this restaurant? The food was absolutely wonderful, the Carne Asada literally melts in your mouth, and my husband was floored by the prawns! The service was wonderful, attentive but not overbearing. And I don't even want to start on their handmade chips! I couldn't stop eating until my plate was empty! I HIGHLY recommend the Hola' Restaurant. Outstanding food, not as expensive as the Mexican Food restaurant on the highway, and easy parking.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars I would for the Redmond location! Posted hours on Yelp are 11pm, on the door says 10pm and when we arrived at 9:20pm they wouldn't serve us margaritas and said they were out. Won't be back to this location!

Busy Mom L.

Yelp
We have passed by several other Hola locations during our visit to Oregon, and finally made a stop. We're so glad we did! We just finished an amazing lunch - halibut ceviche, halibut tacos and Marcos Pollo were incredibly delicious. Love the mix of Peruvian and Mexican. Service was friendly and attentive. We'd love to return the next time we're in the area!
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
Thought this place was exceptional. Some of the best ceviche ever (including Mexico and Hawaii). And that cilantro lime salsa is amazing. Took a pint home with me! Highly recommend the red cactus margarita with muddled jalapeño, Peruvian ceviche and tortilla soup. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Mollie R.

Yelp
Erika is an amazing server! She is so kind, attentive and sweet. I've only had good experiences here. :)
google avatar

Mercedes B.

Yelp
Such amazing food, reminded me of my abulas! Amazing food, so much flavor! Wish I got more rice with the dish, but overall amazing flavors!
google avatar

J W.

Yelp
Please try Holas. Went there recently and had good food and great drinks. They come in a glass with a side tumbler which holds approx another two drinks. All for the regular price. Food is Mexican and Peruvian. Good selection, good price, and actually tasty. Worth a stop in if only to snack and drink. I'd go back.
google avatar

Lynette L.

Yelp
We have driven by Hola in Redmond probably a hundred times so tonight we decided to go there to eat dinner. We will continue to drive by! There were four young twenty year old boys sitting across from us boasting about their criminal activity with every other word being the "f" word. The thing that topped it off was after two of them left one of the employees of the restaurant came and sat down with them and the language continued. Apparently the management encourages this type of behavior. We will never be back!
google avatar

Leah C.

Yelp
Erica gave us excellent service! Such a nice person with a great smile. The cusine was wonderful. Chef knows his cusine and everything we ordered was exceptional. Presented piping hot (took left overs home)! It's been awhile since my last visit, but I will be supporting this amazing restaurant many more times. Thank you Hola' for the great evening. P.S. the margarita's were sooo good.
google avatar

Moni P.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a better rating; the food was great and the service was pretty good but it was so filthy it was hard to focus on anything else. The menus had dried food caked on them, the napkins appeared to have dried food caked on them and the bathrooms, floors, walls, uhhhg....everywhere you look it's just so dirty. If the whole place looks like this I kept imagining what the kitchen looks like . We have been to the Hola in Camp Sherman and it is was very nice and very clean; so that kinda set us up for a certain expectation. Maybe this place has a different owner? Who knows. Wish I could say we'd be back but unfortunately will not.
google avatar

Tara H.

Yelp
Just so we are clear I will NOT patronize any of your restaurants ever again unless there is some sort of repair and support offered to the group of women and teens (there for a birthday celebration) who were both physically assaulted by and called racial slurs by a group of white adults at the Redmond restaurant on Saturday, 10/6/18, night. At least one of the staff knew people in the other group and sided with them. I will help be part of the solution if owners/management are willing to participate.
google avatar

Todd A.

Yelp
I like Hola a lot. I have eaten most things on the menu and my favorite is the stuffed Chile Relleno that is stuffed with Ahi. So good and they give you a ton of fish. The spin they put on the regular items is great too. The salsas are good and there are a few of them now in Bend and Redmond. We took a large party to the Redmond location mid day and they took care of us really well considering the size of our party. Great margaritas and an overall solid bar makes this a no brainer for some tradition food with a unique touch and great flavors. Ask for the hottest sauce and they will bring you some scorching habanero sauce that I really like but it is not offered on the table because it would kill most of the gringos there enjoying the food.
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
Great meal. Casual atmosphere. Friendly service. The waiter steered me to, and away from, menu items once I mentioned my preferences. Had a great pair of enchiladas rojas. Definitely worth the stop if in the area.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Don't bother. We are visiting Redmond. and we we're turned down by the staff at 9:55 even though it says there open till 11pm

Timothy B.

Yelp
What a very pleasant surprise. This place is without a doubt the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. The service was outstanding as well not to mention the margaritas. I had the halibut tacos and my wife had the mole pablano, which is a family recipe for 75 years. Both were fantastic. The cilantro salsa was out standing a welcome difference from the every day Mexican restaurant salsa.
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
This is excellant. Service is spot on. Food is very good. We stopped here while in the area had some things in our cooler and they gave ice to keep it coolwhile we ate. They care that you have come.
google avatar

Coleman Q.

Yelp
My girlfriend took me here because we were both craving Mexican food. It is a cool little place to get food. Good for both date nights and for family dinners. It does mexican food and peruvian food. Both are great options. I think many people think this is one of those classic mexican restaurants but in reality its a little more upscale. The owners you can tell worked very hard to make this special and unique and it really shows. Their pricing is more expensive that some of the other mexican places around town but to be honest it is worth the price increase for good food. They also do really great drinks so make sure to check out their cocktail menu. I had a rum drink and it was really refreshing. Portion size of the meals is also right on point. Free chips and salsa. Salsa is also very very good.
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
We have gone to other locations and really liked them. The Redmond location was reliable in terms of high quality food. Nice pitcher of red cactus margaritas too! Friendly service - will be back!
