Fresh cooked to order doughnuts! I love that their menu is simple too. Was in town visiting and tried them and liked them so much that we visited again the next day. Will definitely stop by here again when visiting Asheville!

Very busy, for good reason. The doughnuts were amazing. The staff was super friendly. Not a lot of seating, but if you don't mind sitting with strangers then not terrible. Parking lot is small, but I still got a spot.

Let’s just say I’m glad I only got one—these donuts are seriously addicting! I tried the original glazed, and it was perfection: crispy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside. That contrast makes for the perfect bite. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Really enjoyed delicious donuts, handmade directly in front of us, particularly the vanilla bean, the powdered sugar and the cinnamon sugar, did not prefer the sesame toasted almond. Highly recommend, five out of five!

Oh man, this place is a local treasure. My husband, my best friend and I stopped by here this morning after learning about it through Jayley. That’s the best doughnut I’ve ever had! They have a charming atmosphere, super friendly staff, talented bakers….and a simple, perfect menu. We each tried a bit of all four flavors offered this morning. Incredible.

Only been here twice since I live in GA. Still my favorite donuts ever. So crispy bc they're freshly fried. The permanent flavors are all delicious. The special flavor we got this time was espresso maple. So. Freaking. Good. We bought a dozen so we could freeze some and air fry them, but we're almost done with them already and it's been less than a month😭 not as good reheated but still great!!! So unique. Must try if you're in Asheville and need a sweet treat!

I had heard HOLE was one of the most popular donut shops in the country, so I wanted to see what was so special about it. It definitely exceeded my expectations! I got the toasted almost sesame cinnamon and it was homemade, hot, melty goodness! Besides the fact that it's made right in front of you, you can even taste the freshness of it - something that most donut shops can't imitate. Highly recommend for donut fans visiting the Asheville area. The service was fast on a Saturday morning at 10am, but there was a flock of people who came in right after me. Be prepared to wait for a little bit in case you get stuck behind the crowd - it's worth it! Few other things: -They have a limited menu since it's made from scratch. -They had self-serve hot coffee, milk, and sugar available for purchase. -They have only a few parking spots available next to the store.

When I say these donuts are fresh, I mean they are FRESH. They are made to order right in front of you. They keep the menu flavors small - vanilla glazed, toasted almond sesame cinnamon, cinnamon sugar, and a special that changes weekly. The name is fitting because it's a small hole in the wall place with a handful of tables inside and a small seating space outside. I ordered their weekly special donut which was a beignet. The place was packed when I got there with people waiting for their orders, but only 1 person ahead of me in line. From the time I ordered at the register to when I got my donut, it was about 10 minutes. The donut itself was warm and extremely delicious. My only regret is I wish I ordered one of each flavor. These employees work hard! They all gave cheery service with a smile and they never stopped working getting donuts prepared. The owner was there behind the counter working just as hard. This business deserves to continue to thrive! The only con was the parking lot is small and it was difficult to find street parking. Luckily, my mom drove so I just hopped out of the car and ordered my food while she drove around.

Small mom and pop shop with great donuts and service! Staff were very friendly and thanked us for our patience as the line was long. It was packed when we got there, but the donuts still came out fast. Inside it felt homey; the donuts are made in front of you, so they are all fresh, made-to-order, and delicious! They are just the right amount of crispy, warm, and coated in a yummy glaze. My favorite was the vanilla glaze. Parking may be hard to find as the shop fills up quickly so it may be worth it to park a bit further away and walk to the shop. Highly recommend supporting this business.

HOLE should be on every foodie's Asheville list. You get the interactive experience of watching your doughnuts being made. We tried every flavor, including the seasonal pumpkin spice glaze. They're high quality, served hot, and probably the best doughnut you'll ever have.

Hands down some of the best donuts me and my husband (and toddler too) have ever had!!! Fast and fresh! Made after you order them and they come out hot. Such a cute little place and nice workers!! Worth stopping and trying!!!

About two months ago on a whim I decided to go to Asheville, N.C. to see how much this beautiful city had recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Helene which slammed this place a little over a year ago. Naturally I got a bit hungry and needed something to tide me over until my return trip home. With few exceptions Asheville, N.C. seemed pretty much back to normal. I came across Hole- Hot Doughnuts quite by accident. I bought six vanilla glazed; took one bite and in very short time had devoured all six! They were similar to my beloved Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts with a perfect hint of vanilla! If there were a Hole- Hot Doughnuts in my hometown, I'd certainly be a regular customer! I recommend highly!

Award-winning for good reason: light, flavorful and not gimmicky Some donut shops wow you with their amazing flavor concoctions. While there is a time and place for that, this place keeps you coming back with a basic donut that is executed perfectly EVERY TIME. To the donut purist--this is home. Login online to order ahead; otherwise good luck getting an order in. They sell out, and drop ins have to wait in a long line. Also, not much parking, so you want to be in and out. This is not a place where you sit down at a counter and drink a coffee with your donut. This is a place to just grab a good donut and go. They are soft, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. They do have a few flavors (and a flavor of the month), but be sure to get the standard one because it is the purist's donut.

Legit...one of the best doughnuts I have ever had. Seriously spectacular. Small place. Long lines. They make everything right in front of you. Small doughnut menu. But the doughnuts they do have are amazing. I was very impressed by this place. We stopped here and then went to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It was a great start to our day.

My husband described it as "a slightly sweetened bread circle!" Delicious fresh baked dessert! We had to try all four of them: vanilla glazed, sesame seed, cocoa, and cinnamon. We for sure thought we were gonna get a to go box, but that didn't happen because we devour all of them. My favorite was the sesame seed!!! They were absolutely delicious fresh out of the fryer and were just fluffy and full of flavor. The service was wonderful leisure enjoyed talking to Liz who recommended that we go check out the local art district area at Marquee! The decor of this place is just so precious. It is a must in the area. They are definitely unique and absolutely delicious

Small and made-to-order right in front of your eyes, HOLE doughnuts is a MUST STOP when in Asheville. This isn't one of those doughnut places where you look through the glass and pick out which ones you want. They have 4 flavors (1 of which is a weekly special) and they pump them out right then and there. We went here 3 times during our visit, however for first time, we only ordered the vanilla, toasted almond sesame, and the weekly special (ginger chrysanthemum). But they decided to also add the other cinnamon sugar as a nice surprise so we could try all 4 and so when we got our donuts, we were pleasantly surprised. I never use hyperbole because people through titles around ("best food ever") too easily, but when I say that these are arguably some of the best (if not the best) donuts I've ever had, I'm honestly not exaggerating. The main difference that makes HOLE so special is the texture. It's the perfect bite where the top part is light and airy while the bottom has a slight crisp to it. So when you take that bite, it's honestly the most perfect donut bite you could ask for. The flavors were great to with the Vanilla being my favorite. The cinnamon sugar was also really great but you can't go wrong with any flavor you get. HOLE deserves your attention and your patronage. If there's any justice in this world, they will get some kind of doughnut award (if they haven't already) because this is a doughnut that will blow you away.

What a fun local hot spot. It's laid back and always hopping because the doughnuts are amazing. "Get them while they're hot" and order extra because if you order a dozen...half won't make it to your destination!

Amazing donuts! Passed through Asheville and stopped by this cute donut shop. Super high ratings, and for good reason. Some of the best donuts we've had. Made them right in front of us. And the fresh donuts were made within 10 minutes of coming in on a super busy morning.

Mmm... I luv all things donuts. I was in town visiting my friend KiKi in Asheville and she wanted to show me her neighborhood donut shop. Happy to know this little shop looks to have survived hurricane Helene last year. We walked over here literally a year ago tomorrow. We ordered a little bit of an assortment from the friendly employee. Love being able to support small business. I hope this place sticks around for many more years to come. Asheville, North Carolina Hole hot donuts, was an amazing donut shop great tasting donuts. Service is great. The ambience was very artsy. Donuts were made to order and absolutely delicious.

By far my all time favorite donut I ever eaten in NC. One of my favorites of all times. They are made fresh, and worth the wait. Daily special flavors. The friendliest people work here !! Glazed is a must try. Cinnamon sugar one of my favorites. Thank you Hole, today this doughnut made me very happy.

During our weekend trip in AVL we stopped by Hole and it was such a treat both for the tastebuds and eyes since you can get a front row view for how the doughnuts are made. Our 3 year old loved watching the staff roll out the dough, deep fry them and dunk them for flavoring. They even have several doughnut related kid's books to continue the learning of what is being made. The inside is rustic with one long community table behind the working station and has several other tables throughout the inside. On the morning we were there we split 2 doughnuts: the Sunbutter and a Cinnamon and Sugar. They were deliciously fresh snd chewy and I can see how this is a favorite with locals. If you're a coffee drinker, they offer self-serve option along with a few other beverages for purchase (ex: orange juice, chocolate milk, etc.) We arrived around 9am on Sunday and it wasn't as busy but as we were wrapping up (about 30-40 min later) the breakfast rush seemed to start as a line was starting to form to the door. In short, we found Hole to be a fun and tasty spot to check out before a day or exploring the area.

It's been ten years since I've been to Asheville and I can easily say Hole is still the best doughnuts I've ever had. I have dreamed of these edible pillows for ten years so I got off a red eye, jumped in my rental, and drove straight here. Today's flavor was ginger chrysanthemum and oh my goodness it was lovely. An extra doughnut was thrown in so we ended up trying all four. You can't go wrong with vanilla or cinnamon sugar. The almond sesame was more on the savory side which was very nice. I will have to get to the east coast more often so I can visit here. I will for sure be back a couple more times before my trip is over. Also everyone is so nice, it's such a great community, and watching them make the doughnuts is great. Great spot, great atmosphere, great vibes. 1000000/10

Wow!!!! The best donuts and such a neat experience/shop! You order the type of donuts you want, they have 3 staples and then 1 rotating flavor and then get to watch them cut the dough, shape it, fry it and then top it! The set up wasn't even the best part cause the donuts were out of this world!!

So good! Last weekend I was telling a friend about another awesome donut shop and then they told me about Hole. Looked it up and saw it was ranked the number 2 donut shop in the country on yelp. Had to try it so literally drove up for Greensboro just for some donuts and hiking. So good!!! The outside was crispy and the inside is airy and soft. The absolute perfect combination.

The best doughnuts in WNC hands-down! Light, crispy, and with amazing flavors these doughnuts were once rated #3 in the entire country for a reason. On top of this, the atmosphere is homey and the staff are so genuine and kind; not to mentio the service moves relatively quickly given how busy they can get!

OMG GILD - today I made my self-imposed once-a-month maximum trip to Hole Doughnuts with my daughter Sydney. We both ordered the special donut, the Banana Bread Glazed donut. Decadent, yummy, sweet, and made with love all come to mind. It's a must-eating for guests and tourists.

This place was ridiculously good! I'm not a huge sweets person but these fresh donuts were amazing! We ordered a half bakers dozen and ate most of them right away. When warm, it is a fantastic experience. The plain glazed and the sesame were delicious! The woman working the counter was so friendly and engaging. She had a great energy and seemed to know quite a few of the people walking in. She got our day going going in a positive way. The parking lot is a little tight. Definitely worth coming to. So good!

Everything a donut place should be and more. The donuts were made fresh right infront of you, the staff are very welcoming, and they have excellent donuts!! My sister and I arrived around 11pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, we got to order right away and sat as we watched our donuts get made right infront of us. Our favorites were the glazed & the toasted sesame (but I really recommend trying them all)!!

Annual multi-city food road trip with pre-planned stops in each city. Staff super friendly. It was neat being able to see the open assembly line of hand rolling and drying the donuts to order. A few staples and a rotating specialty. Had the dirty beignets special, cinnamon sugar, and toasted almond sesame. They were super buttery without being oily. Each flavor was great but the toasted sesame was a bit aggressive and drowned out the other flavors.

"We might have the worst parking in Asheville" said one of the workers but no one cares about it. The donuts are made FRESH! No casings to put them in, they are made right there and brought directly to you. Cute little donut shop and off the beaten path. Will definitely be returning

Wow! We came to Asheville for a day trip and had to stop by Hole for some fresh donuts. We're so glad that we did because they were some of the best donuts that we've ever had! They are made fresh to order. The service was friendly and fast. We came around 12pm on a Monday so there was no line or wait. Would definitely recommend to stop by for a sweet treat if you're in the area.

So we were on a road trip and saw rave reviews; we stopped by, and it didn't disappoint. Donuts are not machine made, and maybe that is the secret sauce. They are fried once ordered, and we had 3. Crispy on the outside and chewy inside. This really reminded me of the Chinese fried dough 油炸鬼 in Hong Kong and I eat that with congee. The icing was a bit too sweet for me but love the ginger taste. Place was quite packed when we got there but we only waited a few minutes. There're only 4 types of donuts and they are very generous with the toppings. I recommend eating there since the icing will melt and make a mess. $2.9 each and will return when in the area.

We came here about 11am on a Friday. We tried to visit once before while in Asheville but it was too late in the day and they had nothing left. This time we made sure we stopped in earlier in the day. When we arrived the small parking lot was nearly full but we found a spot and proceeded to walk inside. The building itself is nothing fancy but it does have a lot of character both inside and out. In the parking lot is an older, very rustic delivery van which does not appear to run but is used as advertising with the logo on each side. Inside, the order counter is to the right and the donut making area is along the back wall. There is some bench seating in the middle with some tables along the other wall. The simple menu board is behind the order counter. We walked right up to the order counter and asked a few questions. We learned the dough is yeast dough which is a lighter type of donut like what Krispy Kreme makes and unlike cake style donuts. My wife selected a vanilla glazed and a toasted almond sesame. I ordered a vanilla glazed. We had a seat at some open space on the bench table and watched as they prepared the donuts. They had several boxes they were filling with different flavors before they got to ours. They fried, glazed, dipped and delivered nice hot doughnuts to our table. The donuts looked amazing and tasted incredible. We loved each and every bite. We recommend anyone visiting Asheville to check this place out. It is a must stop, trust us.

Really cool spot that serves fresh fried donuts. There's not a lot of options and they are really similar. Powdered, glazed, cinnamon sugar and plain. But all of them were good. The place was packed when I went and I had to wait for the donuts to be made, but the setup is nice because you can see everyone making the donuts, when they are done they just hand them off to you. The place is a little cramped and seating is more of a first come first serve. I would recommend calling or ordering ahead to avoid the wait. Donuts were hot, airy, and fluffy. Well worth the wait. Customer service was great.

You donut understand how amazing these donuts are! The sesame almond cinnamon donut was the perfect combination of sweet and salty and crunchy. The vanilla glaze donut was simple and melts in your mouth. Parking can be difficult, limited seating inside, restroom is available, and water. Highly recommend!

Lots of places offer tons of different crazy flavor combinations, but HOLE keeps it simple, and delivers 100%. They only have 4 flavors at any time - vanilla glaze, sesame almond, cinnamon sugar, and a rotating special. The special this week is "peach" and it's perfect for summer. My husband's favorite sweet treat is donuts, and these are the best he's ever had.

This is a very interesting donut shop. Their donuts are unlike any other donut I've ever had. I really liked the donut with all of the sesame seeds on it. I also love their donut truck out front, it's so cute. this place is definitely worth a visit.

It is rare in life to eat something you've had hundreds of times in life and instantly know you found the best version of that thing. Hole is that for doughnuts. The sesame almond donut will be the first thing I ask for when I get to the pearly gates. They are all fantastic and not sickeningly sweet which is so appreciated in a donut. They are pricey, but you only live once and these donuts will be what you're thinking about when you pass onto the great beyond.

Visiting Asheville and in the mood for a REAL home made donut. Through the Help of Yelp I came across a fantastic donut shop called the Hole... Doughnuts Hot and Fresh Coffee. Almost 900 reviews and a solid 4.8 rating. Not to mention about 5 of my Yelp friends all rating them a 5. A very old converted home on the southwest side of Asheville. This one room business is amazing. And I mean one room! You're literally feet from where they make the magic. Separated by nothing more than a small counter top bar. You can watch and talk to the employees making the donuts from scratch. Get there early as I was about 4 in line, on the OUTSIDE of the building! Lol. But no worries the line moved pretty quick. The 3 weekly regulars Vanilla Glazed Toasted Almond Sesame Cinnamon Cinnamon Sugar And the weekly special Binet all come out so warm and ready for you to have the warmest, freshest, tastiest treat you mouth will ever experience. Definitely put this on your list if you're ever visiting Asheville. You won't be disappointed.

Now, first let me tell you that I am a self proclaimed donut expert. I will seek out the best donuts everywhere I go and try them. I had heard about these donuts and knew I had to make a trip here when I visited Asheville again. That time came when I went to a nature retreat in Old Fort which is about 45 minutes away. I easily placed a pick up order earlier in the morning so I could be sure they weren't sold out. This process was super simple. They only have three regular flavors, vanilla glazed, toasted almond sesame cinnamon, cinnamon sugar and a rotating special every week, which I like. I think donut places reallly overdo it these days. When I got there to pick up, the place couldn't be more adorable. Quaint and rustic looking without unnecessary flair. There is a food truck with their name on it in the lot but it's hard to tell if it's in use. I picked up my donuts which were ready and waiting and went on my way. I got the toasted sesame and vanilla glazed on my first trip (I went back three days later). These donuts are perfection!!! Chewy and delicious with the perfect amount of glaze. I really need to get there and have a fresh donut because some of the glaze comes off in the paper used to place it in the bag, but they were amazing nonetheless and among my top three favorite donut places. Do not miss this if you are in the area!

An enjoyable find while on a roadtrip home. Awesome donuts and very friendly service. A return visit is already on our agenda when we are in the area next month for a concert.

This place was a delight. Doughnuts are cooked fresh to order and they don't over complicate it - just about 4 different topping - I like combining sugar or powdered sugar. They are crispy on the outside and tender inside and hot! The team is super positive and the customers all reignite what a gem they have in their neighborhood.
