Australian-inspired cafe with standout breakfast sandwich & cocktails

"Hole In The Wall appears to be owned by the unknown Australian oligarch who runs all the Aussie cafes in the city. It has all the markings, from light wood and hanging plants to colorful açaí bowls and fruit smoothies. This place is a very comfortable spot for a casual business lunch or weekend brunch, when you can eat wild mushroom bruschetta with a runny egg on top or soft scrambled eggs with a spicy sambal sauce." - kenny yang, neha talreja, hannah albertine
"FiDi is a strange place on weekends, when revolving doors don’t revolve, and masses of tourists walk in lock-step down otherwise empty streets like zombies looking for “food.” But when you get off of the Brooklyn Bridge, you should brave the zombies and head for Hole In The Wall. This attractive Australian cafe stands out from all of the pubs and steakhouses nearby with bright wood, hanging plants, and colorful acai bowls. Start with the soft scrambled eggs with spicy sambal sauce and a bloody mary with smoked bacon, and the zombie tourists won’t seem quite as scary." - matt tervooren
"Hole In The Wall appears to be owned by the unknown Australian oligarch who we imagine opens all the Aussie cafes in the city. It has all the markings, from bright wood and hanging plants, to colorful acai bowls and fruit smoothies. It’s a very comfortable spot for weekend brunch or a casual business lunch, when you can eat wild mushroom bruschetta with a runny egg on top, or soft scrambled eggs with a spicy sambal sauce that we bet that oligarch puts on everything. There’s a full bar, but it’s mostly used for breakfast cocktails as this place closes at 5pm everyday." - Matt Tervooren

"Located in the Financial District, the original Hole in the Wall opened in 2017 on the ground floor of a luxury apartment building and has become a hidden gem and a haven in the neighborhood for laid-back, design-driven meals under owner Barry Dry." - Serena Dai

"Tucked into a FiDi side street, this stylish Australian cafe is my go-to for breakfast meetings: great coffee, a menu from avocado toast to pulled-pork benedict, plenty of seating, and it’s quiet enough for real conversation even when busy on weekday mornings." - Eater Staff
