Had lunch there on Dec 21st. All the dishes were delicious. As a family we ordered various dishes (flank steak, baked trout, a chicken dish, the green salad, fruit salad, soup) - they were all delicious. Service was excellent. Atmosphere is wonderful and there is ample parking.

Google
A very disappointing experience and a waste of money. The food was mediocre at best. The pricing is way too high for the quality of food I experienced. The little country ham biscuits offered for an additional charge are more than what you pay at Honeywood Restaurant ($12/$8) and nothing outstanding. The menu descriptions online vs what is offered is conflicting. The potato soup was very good, as well as the "complimentary" spice scones that were offered. The main course I chose the mushroom omlet which came out a bit over room temperature. There was twice as much egg as everything else. Hardly any mushrooms (which were tough and unseasoned) and the Camembert cheese was not even melted (online it stated smoked mascarpone), and the roasted red pepper puree' gave me heartburn. The dark chocolate bread pudding was hard and dry and a minimal serving compared to the other deserts. Several other ladies in our party of 11 had disappointing meals as well. Very disappointing experience for the $63.60 I spent.

Google
We had an outstanding three course menu with wine pairing during restaurant week. The porch is exceedingly pleasant (although I do wish I would have had bug spray) and hospitality was top of the line. Conner, our waiter, was fantastic—attentive and conversational but not overbearing. Food and drinks were lovely and well considered; the tomato pie was a standout. (The mushroom risotto was also wonderful; nice to find such flavorful veg options.) This is a special occasion sort of place but in our experience very very worth it. Can’t wait to come back.

Google
Where do I begin? The property is beautiful. We were sat immediately, and Connor was incredibly attentive and accurately described the courses. The food came out with impeccable timing, and each course clearly had a lot of thought put into its construction. Everything complimented each other and none of the flavors on my plates clashed. An overwhelmingly pleasant experience with a very talented team of Chefs in the driver's seat. Highly recommended, I hope to dine again soon.

Google
Celebrated my birthday at Holly Hill. Staff was so kind and attentive. Had a beautiful 3 course meal with wine pairing. Then we decided to add the cheese plate. The local cheeses- especially Kenny’s were amazing. The sunchoke bisque with carrot top pesto was SO good! Pacing of service was great too. Such a warm, inviting little retreat!

Google
Service was very slow. The artichoke bisque and apple parfait were delicious. Our breakfast entrees were not hot. The fried potatoes and Brussel sprouts were tasty and hot. The grits, sausage gravy and eggs were cold. The bacon had an odd taste, neither of us ate it. The apple pie was more of a cheesecake than apple pie. The food may have been cold due to the slow service.

Google
Holly Hill has never disappointed, went there for brunch with a big group and everyone had a lovely time. The food was outstanding as always, the flank steak was the best of my life. Our server Ann Marie (I think that was her name) was so wonderful and told us about fun events they host and the history of some of the foods. Wonderful meal overall ⭐️

Google
Everything was perfect. We initially made reservations at 715pm for 4 people but our friends had a medical emergency and couldn’t make it. We showed up early with only two people. The hostess handled it right away. Alicia was our server. She was excellent. The food was some of the best I have had, excellent quality. The price point is very good as well. Highly recommend and will visit again.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our visit to this warm and cozy joint in Midway Kentucky... Arrived early, but the staff let me in through the bar area because I was lost... Very friendly and kind. The location is steeped in history and they provide some reading material that gives you the sense of how historic this location is. Artwork hangs on the wall, so the location serves as a sort of gallery, which can be enjoyed by the patrons. Forget about all the wonderful things I've already said... The food was perfect and the portions were perfect as well. We had the prix fixe brunch, so the three course meal was worth the $35 that it cost and I would've paid much more for the experience as well as the food. Bravo to the owners for having the wherewithal to employ such wonderful people and an amazing chef, we will be back.

Yelp
After learning they were nominated for a James Beard award, we had to visit! The space is beautiful, the brunch was delicious and the service was warm and welcoming.

Yelp
We've been to Holly hill inn both for a themed Kaiseki dinner that was outstanding but this review, I want to feature their take home New Year's Eve menu. This menu was $80 for enough food for two. The food even lasted into the next day. Started with delectable kale salad and tomato and artichoke soup. A boule bread bowl came with perfectly seasoned olive oil and aged balsamic. Following, the mains were a vol au vent with the most perfect shrimp and lobster newburg and a short rib with roasted vegetables and a delicious jus. We were so stuffed we couldn't finish dessert until a few hours later. A moist jam cake with blackberry topping. It was a beautiful meal.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of eating holiday brunch at this cozy restaurant today. Beautifully decorated for Christmas with classic Christmas music softly playing, the atmosphere was perfect on this rainy Sunday. We started with the sweet potato beignets which were delicious served on a bed of whipped cranberry spread with a slight kick of heat from red pepper honey drizzle and topped off with toasted pecan pieces. Our first course included a winter green salad with beets, Gorgonzola and a maple bacon vinaigrette for myself. My husband chose the Zupa Di Napoli squash bisque. A rich, creamy delight! Our entrees were the equally delicious braised berry beef flat iron steak with Brussels sprouts and potatoes. The steak was tender and flavorful. I chose baked Idaho trout with broccolini Amandine. The trout was perfectly cooked with a crabmeat dressing and burre blanc sauce on top. Our chosen desserts were bourbon chocolate pecan pie for my husband and Kentucky jam cake for myself. My mother used to make homemade jam cake with caramel frosting every Christmas. I have not had anything that tasted like hers since she passed away almost 11 years ago. I hesitated to order it fearing disappointment but I am so happy I decided to try it!! I literally teared up with the first bite because it tasted so much like my momma used to make. The caramel frosting was the perfect texture. This dessert evoked priceless memories for me. What a wonderful treat!!! The meal was made even better by the accompanying French press pot of Nate's coffee we shared. Our server was wonderful, kind and attentive. So glad we booked the holiday brunch here!!

Yelp
The food was very interesting mixing flavors and playing around with combining non-traditional foods. Most the dishes were fantastic, some were unique and definitely something I had never had before. If you want something fancy and different I'd recommend this place. The service was good and we took our time enjoying our experience.

Yelp
Wow!! I can't wait to return. Is it possible to give more than 5 stars? Just continues to be an unbelievable experience when dining at a restaurant by one of the best Kentucky chefs. Quida I believe now owns 5 restaurants each with their own personality and style. Holly Hill remains my favorite. The service and location are world class. Our three course meal with starters were just amazing. So good in fact that I was so immersed in the experience I forgot to take some pictures of my three courses. All I can say is if you haven't experienced Holly Hill or Chef Quida's restaurants you are missing out. Run don't walk. You will thank me because you did! I'm still full!

Yelp
Holly Hill is Quita's little gem. The house may be old but not the food. I've enjoyed everything I've ever had here, and I can be a tough critic! They offer lots of salads, cornbread, and well thought out dishes. The service can be a bit slow but it's always pleasant. I've seen Quita there herself working. With all of her restaurants I don't see how she does it all! The porch is my fav place to sit and eat. Very pleasant decor inside.

Yelp
This is a fine dining destination in central Kentucky. We went a couple of weeks ago, the first time since before Covid. The atmosphere is muted country luxury. An old mansion, wood floors, nice drapes, copious artwork. Fresh flowers at the tables. Service impeccable. These are professionals, providing top notch hospitality, hands down. The food: we started with coconut sunchoke soup. This was inspired, absolutely delicious, and the star of the meal. Light, perfect combination of flavors and textures. Fantastic. The second course I chose was a ribeye with horseradish and greens on the side. The greens were great--a mixture of fresh greens au gratined, perfectly seasoned. Unfortunately, the ribeye was served overcooked, tough with ample gristle. This is the reason for four stars instead of five. I wish I had ordered scallops. My wife had steak diane and duck fat potatoes. The potatoes were underwhelming, just okay. The steak diane was good, but too rich for her tastes. Dessert was chocolate cake with cherries and cream. This was excellent. I ordered the wine pairing. The selections were tasty, worked well. The final I ordered was a double oaked bourbon with dessert. Excellent pairing. Overall, a very nice meal at a special place. Unfortunately, the lack of attention on the main courses knocks it down a bit. Considering the price, fairly steep for this area, we expected near perfection. Total bill for two with drinks and good tip was over $260. It's fine to pay that for fine dining, but excellent execution is expected.

Yelp
This food was amazing. We went for Christmas Eve brunch. I had eggs Benedict (my fav), which had pimento cheese and country ham and the grits were perfecccct. My husband had the pork chop, which was also great. The first dishes and desserts were perfect also. I don't usually care for apple pie, but it was the best I've ever had. So delicious. Highly recommend brunch and probably any meal here! The cocktails were also spectacular!

Yelp
Attended the opening of the Ray Papka Art Gallery/reception at Holly Hill Inn. As it happens, Ray is Ouita's delightful dad. She has decided to host a permanent collection of his very interesting mixed media works. Stop by for dinner and take a stroll upstairs to see them. 71

Yelp
We reserved a private room for our group of 10 for a post ashes scattering luncheon to celebrate our deceased family member. They offered a prix fixe menu and we also ordered 2 appetizers and a couple of mimosas. The menu options were diverse. Our group sampled 5 of their entree choices and we were all very impressed with not only the taste, but the presentation and the service--all impeccable. Very delicious, large portions for $35 per person plus the add ons and drinks. It was a beautiful May Day and the house and grounds are just gorgeous! HIGHLY recommend and will be returning as soon as we can.

Yelp
Beautiful quaint restaurant, yet all of Quita Mitchel's restaurants are! Lovely decor, cozy home feeling, tiny bar. We didn't have any reservations which is a must, but the staff was so friendly & accommodating & sat us immediately. Ordered the special Sunday Brunch Butternut Squash Soup which was awesome & creamy! The bread was more like delicate pastry w/ dried fruit which I usually don't like, but loved it! Ordered Steak, Eggs, Grits, Greens & Hashbrowns. It was alright, but didn't like the bbq sauce on the Steak. Everything else was alil bland, but love the ambiance & will be back to try much more. Everything that came out looked delish & I am a fan of all of Quita's restaurants.

Charles W.

Yelp
Poor service and food was not good. Took us over an hour and a half for Sunday lunch. Thought St. Patrick Day would be special, but the corn beef was way overcooked and actually crunchy. We have eaten here several times and this one was a real disappointment.

Yelp
It took me almost 36 years, but I finally made it to Holly Hill Inn, which in itself is a shame since they have BRUNCH! We enjoyed a fantastic 4-course dinner on the eve of the my fiancé's parents 55th wedding anniversary. Amuse Bouche: Cherry tomato tart (I could have eaten an ACTUAL pie-sized version of this perfection) House pasta with pistachio pesto Joe's duck breast, fresh corn polenta, plum sauce, roasted grapes Peach-blackberry galette, buttermilk ice cream, bourbon caramel Bourbon blackberry bramble (Plus his red snapper and dark chocolate mousse cake) Two critical pieces of feedback: 1) The atmosphere they're going for is upscale, small, and ideally intimate, but it cannot be so when one can hear the conversations at every other table (and know that they can hear yours). As of that weren't bad enough, every door in the place is open and you can hear dishes clanging and glasses clinking. Something could be done to improve the acoustics, regardless of the age of the structure. 2) While delicious, the means do not justify the ends when it comes to the four-course meal. $55 is quite a stretch for the portions we received, namely the third (main) course, and I wasn't the only one who looked quizzically at my plate when it arrived. So keep that in mind. The service was exceptional from a professionalism standpoint, but all businesses are short-staffed right now and - understandably - service is slow and you might wait 20 minutes for someone to stop long enough to notice every drink at your table is empty. That's ok. That said, many of the wine bottles are very reasonably priced, so order a bottle and forego the wait!

Yelp
You know, for the pomp and circumstance that this place offers I was super let down overall and not entirely sure I'd be willing to give it another go for what they offer and ask for in pricing. I think the biggest issue I had was that in making the reservation it offered either the 'standard menu' or a 'cassoulet dinner' that was being offered that night. I ticked the Standard Menu button and made the reservations that occurred on our anniversary weekend. Get to the restaurant all fine and everything and get led up to our seats and shown the menu. It's just the cassoulet one. Okay...well, that sucks. The waiter says 'that's all we got tonight, sorry.' Well, not sure why I was able to make the reservations with standard menu, but I guess we happened to line up on that night for this yearly thing they do. And being in Midway...going somewhere else is a bit tough, it's that or McDonalds at that time of night within a reasonable distance. Overall, pretty good food. Wait service is was fine, though slow. Refills were iffy being on the second floor, but not deal breaking by any means. The biggest issue was basically the 'well, sucks to suck.' The waiter had that awkward 'I got nothing' look about the miscommunication on the reservations, and the manager was basically like tough luck, sucks for you. I get it, that was the dinner that night, but if you are going to have reservations that ask you to specify what you want that creates an expectation. When that expectation isn't met, maybe try to make up for it? At least it was tasty, just not what we wanted that night.

Yelp
Southern Sunday Brunch As a party of four, we enjoyed Sunday brunch on the porch, and it was delightful. We started with a bottle of Viognier and country ham biscuits, followed by the Campanella, and entrees of saffron mussels, pork tenderloin and eggs Benedict. We enjoyed the the pavlova and French press coffee for dessert!
google avatar

Kristie T.

Yelp
I learned that I had to stay in Lexington and I also kept seeing notifications for the Cassoulet event at Holly Hill and I had always wanted to go to Holly Hill Inn so I made a reservation! I was right on time and they were expecting me and sat me in the dining area. It was not a very busy. She said the week before Thanksgiving was usually pretty quiet. I didn't mind at all. The Christmas decorations around the restaurant were beautiful. I loved the warm ambience of the restaurant. I could've sat there all night drinking wine and looking around at the beauty. I did eat very slow. I ordered the seafood sampler and butternut squash bisque. Neither one of those photos turned out so I am so bummed. They were both more than I could've ever hoped for. Every single bite was fresh and unique. Then, I had to have the cassoulet. It was very flavorful. So much food I couldn't even eat half of it. Very rich in flavor. For the dessert, I ordered the Boca Negra with vanilla bean gelato. I barely had room for it, but I had to try it. So rich also and sweet. Not too sweet. More like dark chocolate sweet. The service there was outstanding. I was never left hanging. The server was so wonderful and accommodating. I can't wait until my second check in!

Yelp
Wow- this place is beautiful! Located a few miles off the highway in Midway, Holly Hill Inn is a historical house turned into a stunning restaurant. The atmosphere is top notch. You can sit inside the beautiful dining rooms or be seated outside on the front porch. We went for Sunday brunch and opted to stay inside. They have a brunch option to do 3 courses for $25 or you can order a la carte. Daniel went with the 3 courses and I chose to stick with an entrée. The attention to detail and service here are fantastic. We started with an order of artichoke fritters and a mimosa and Bellini. So good! They also brought us out a basket of tiny homemade biscuits and scones. Yum! Daniel picked the asparagus bisque soup, the Benedict and the chocolate bread pudding. I had a version of the Benedict with smoked salmon and it was amazing. The bread pudding was some of the best I have ever had. When I made the reservation, I told them we were celebrating an anniversary and they made us feel special by decorating the dessert plate, giving us a glass of champagne and a card signed by the staff. What a wonderful touch! Truly exceeded my expectations. They offer wine dinners here too and I cannot wait to go back for one.

Wendy M.

Yelp
We had one of the best meals we've had in a longtime. We went for our anniversary and loved the ambiance as well as the food. We sat upstairs in a room with only 4 tables which felt very intimate. We loved that it was so unpretentious but the food was Michelin Star worthy. Every course was beautifully presented and delicious and thoughtful in its structure. On top of that it was very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back again.

Yelp
ok, this review is about 20 years late but one of the most memorable meals I had was at this establishment. FiddleHead Ferns, Sweatbreads and Maine Lobster. after 27 years in the fine wine biz travelling extensively and eating very well. That meal remains in my top 5 of all time.

Gillian P.

Yelp
My associates get there and they notice that there are tables available downstairs but then the hostess takes them upstairs. They go upstairs the heat rises. It's Fucking hot. Waitress took forever to wait on them. I asked for ice multiple times and didn't get it for 30 mins. We requested to go back downstairs but they were apparently previously reserved... long story short. We were still there 1 hour and fifteen minutes later and received NOTHING. No bread, no appetizers, no food.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
My wife and I visited Holly Hill Inn for brunch and it was phenomenal from start to finish. We were greeted by the hostess immediately upon entering, and even though we were 30 minutes early for our reservation, she worked to seat us right away. Our server welcomed us as if he had known us for years even though this was our first visit. We started our meal with the ham biscuits which were out of this world. The biscuits themselves were bakes perfectly, and were fluffy and crisp. We also had the pumpkin soup as a starter, and I can't adequately describe just how delicious it was. This was my first experience with pumpkin soup, but believe me when I say that I would go back just to try it again. For our mains, we had the poached egg manhasset and the special classic cassoulet. Both were rich and flavorful, and the portions were so big, we had to box them both up for later. Overall, our experience was spectacular, and I can't wait for our next visit.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing service. Great food and our server was amazing!! Great place to celebrate an anniversary!

Yelp
My husband and I came to Holly Hill on one of their tasting nights. We reserved in advance for the "Goan Feast" and it was incredible! We had never heard of this West Indian cuisine and are now hooked. In the 4 course meal we had option for the appetizer and entree, so it was fun to order differently and then share our plates. Food was outstanding, service was excellent and the setting is really beautiful. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What can I say, but Holly Hill brunch lived up to the hype. It was definitively the best traditional southern brunch that I ever had. We started the meal with a refreshing Mimosa and shared the artichoke fritters which topped even the Bristol's signature appetizer. My wedge salad was so much more than a typical steakhouse wedge. My Salmon Eggs Benedict was fantastic with perfect ratios and expert Hollandaise, and my wife's sausage omelet was nearly not as heavy as it sounded. We finished with the baked apple appetizer as a shared dessert which was just the right finish to the meal. There really wasn't sticker shock when the bill came, as I knew the cost upfront. Let's put it this way - I have had lesser dinners at "bigger" city restaurants for much more. Still, it was about a bit pricey for Sunday breakfast - but well worth the trip for a special occasional or a self-indulgent purge.

Yelp
My boyfriend surprised me with a seven course Valentine's Day dinner here. Love the house, the set up, and the service of the staff. The food was excellent with farm to table ingredients such as rabbit, beef tenderloin, scallops, salmon, along with deliciously fresh produce and herbs. The dark chocolate cake was divine. And I'm not a huge fan on chocolate cake! It was a fantastic surprise! I look forward to going back throughout the year to see the changes in menu with the seasons.
google avatar

Yelp
For having a set menu there are several choices for each course. They have a great wine and bourbon selection. Next time I'm in Lexington I'll be going back.

Yelp
Holly Hill Inn is a special place. Located in an historic house, it feels like you're visiting friends - if you have friends who are amazing chefs, that is. The staff and kitchen were very accommodating of our special dietary needs, and the food was innovative and memorable. I was particularly taken with an arugula salad that sounded simple in its description, but they totally nailed it. My roasted pumpkin entree was also delicious, as was my husband's venison. Chef Ouita Michel is lovely, and her warmth and exuberance set the tone for the whole place: understated yet unforgettable.

Gia I.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went for dinner for his birthday here and the menu was amazing! Seriously mind blowing. The food was prepared excellently and the service was impeccable. This place was a little hard to find and the ambiance of the restaurant was very small and quiet which we normally do appreciate it just felt a little awkward to get into good conversations while avoiding everyone in the dining room to hear. It felt like you were at a family dinner. Overall great experience! We will be back :)
google avatar

Yelp
Chef Quita is the Best of the Best! She is also a kind person and supports her community. Gourmet cuisine, every bite of every dinner, is superb! The atmosphere whimsical yet traditional. I can't wait for my next experience at Holly Hill Inn. Great place for celebrations at lunchtime. Holiday dinners are fun.

David R.

Yelp
This special place is well worth the 45 minute drive. Porched mansion of a bygone era, serves a 5 course prix fix assortment of culinary treats that will never disappoint. Go with friends and relax, making it a non-rushed, relaxed experience. None of the options failed to please. If there was any disappoint, it was that the kitchen had difficulty keeping up with the volume and demand.
google avatar

Yelp
I simply cannot give enough stars. The service was thoughtful. The meal was thoughtful. The presentation was thoughtful. The pacing of the tasting menu was thoughtful! Utterly blown away from the meal, the atmosphere, and the entire experience. I feel like I got an education as well as an enjoyable experience!

Yelp
I went here a couple of years ago and it was pretty average so that, combined with it being a little bit of a drive for me, meant I didn't return... until they hosted an outdoor, socially distanced meal for Father's Day that included an enticing menu and live music. Our family attended (our first restaurant in months!) and I was SO impressed with their attention to detail and safety precautions as well as the amazing food. That experience was 5 stars all the way. It was so good that we decided to return today (a week later) to pick up curbside food and then have a picnic on the lawn. The menu again sounded great and I know the grounds are beautiful so we were excited. Unfortunately, several food items were disappointing. We ordered three different entrees and our particular portion of pork was about 40% solid fat, the steak was overcooked and impossible to get through with plastic cutlery, the potatoes seemed completely unseasoned except for a few flakes of what appeared to be a fresh herb, and the dessert had such a strong taste of ginger (and maybe lavender?) that the fruit flavor was covered up. The trout was good, and we all LOVED the asparagus and macaroni and cheese, but I wouldn't give today's experience more than 3 stars, so I'm averaging the two at a 4-star rating. Also, while I was picking up our food today, there was a clear view into the kitchen and the man packing all of our food into the containers had pulled his mask down to his chin so his nose and mouth were fully uncovered the entire time he was packing our meals. Everyone else was correctly wearing a mask, so this was definitely an anomaly, but didn't give the best impression of health standards and precautions. I'll probably pass on this restaurant for a while, but some of Ouita's other restaurants are still on my list of favorites!
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Food was mostly excellent. The Brussels sprouts and pork belly salad was very salty. Everything else was great. The red snapper was some of the best snapper I've ever had. Service was mediocre. I would have expected much more attentive service.
google avatar

Alan L.

Yelp
A very pleasant meal in a wonderful setting. The restaurant is an old house in a rural area. They have tables on the outside porch which is probably delightful during the summer (we were there during January). The signature cocktails were balanced and tasty. The menu is limited but everything was delicious. The only criticism is that the hot water for tea wasn't very hot.

Yelp
Holly Hill In is a hidden treasure in Midway, KY. It is quintessential old Southern charm in the perfect location of a beautiful old historic home that has a wrap around porch that beckons you home. They have magical 3 course brunches on Saturday & Sunday. And the menu changes monthly to take advantage of the best produce available. It is the perfect place to go if you want an elegant experience.

Yelp
We needed a last minute reservation for 15 people on the opening weekend of Keeneland. It seemed an impossible task, chef ouita and her team made it happen. We had a private room. Everyone did the three course menu, which was a fantastic value. We started with deviled eggs. As a group we tried pretty much all the offerings and all were fantastic. I started with the sorghum bowl. It was beautifully plated with great plays on texture and flavor. I had the Virginia fluke for my entree. Most fish stuffed with smoked mussels and shrimp. I closed with the bourbon flavor wheel cake. The cake was great, especially the hazelnut sorbet that accompanied it. Service was great for a group our size. They also did a nice job offering dishes outside of the menu for kids. Finally, we had one vegan and one gluten free eater in our group. After hearing that, the server came back with a marked up menu to show which dishes fit or could be made to fit the dietary restrictions. I thought it was a nice accommodation. We look forward to returning.

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated our recent wedding anniversary at Holly Hill Inn. It had been on my list as I am a fan of Ouita Michel and company and all that they are doing within the culinary world in the Lexington area. Holly Hill Inn did not disappoint. Our meal was near perfection and will not soon be forgotten. The setting is gorgeous. They even have a fact sheet on the property. I won't spoil it but if you love history and love being taken back in time during your dining experience you will love the setting and ambiance of Holly Hill Inn. We were seated in a beautiful room with a focal fireplace and 4 other tables which provided each group with plenty of space in which to enjoy their meal. We chose the 3 course menu with wine pairing and added in the Country Ham Biscuits and the Artisan Cheese Plate. Okay we overdid it when we added the cheese but leftovers are not a bad thing so no judgement please! We both started with the Creamy Clam Chowder. It was a very different preparation and super delicious in addition to being beautiful. I chose the Rainbow Trout stuffed with shrimp and other goodies. It was smothered in an aromatic Kentucky Spoonfish Caviar Butter Sauce!!! Wow! All is can say is wow! It was truly the best trout I have had in years. Well done! My dessert selection of Pig Pickin' 'Nana Pudding Cake was boxed to go and I truly enjoyed it hours later. The wine pairing selections were nicely done. We had a lovely Rose' to start. I chose a white blend for my main course and the featured dessert wine was a lovely French Port. Our server presented us with a lovely hand written card wishing us a Happy Anniversary and she brought us out a lovely complementary dessert which we managed to find room for - of course! The Holly Hill Inn experience was worth the drive and the price. The quality, attention to detail and service exceeded our expectations. I see us making another trip in the near future. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Very nice experience, great old mansion ambiance. Three course meal for $45. I had the root salad- great, the lamb - outstanding and the banana inspired dessert - good. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Very good wine and spirits list. Good service, nothing over the top. There is not a bar area so best if you arrive at your reservation time. Limited menu that they do very well.

Yelp
My husband and I had brunch at Holly Hill Inn on Sunday to celebrate my birthday, and it couldn't have been better! We made a reservation just to make sure we could get in, and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive, but the food was what really shined! Our first course started off with the bruleed pineapple for me, and the seasonal salad for him. The pineapple was AMAZING! For my main course, I ordered the Bluegrass Eggs Benedict, and he ordered the Steak and Eggs. My eggs benedict were cooked to perfection, and the hollandaise sauce was lemony as smooth, but also didn't drown everything on my plate. Even the roasted veggies were amazing! My husband's steak was cooked exactly how he wanted it and was so flavorful! We stuffed ourselves, and hardly had room for dessert. Thankfully, they packaged our bourbon pecan pie and blueberry cobbler to go so we could enjoy them later. i am SO GLAD we learned about Holly Hill Inn and we will definitely be back! It's all kinds of wonderful, and the fact that it's farm to table makes it even better in my book.

Yelp
Cannot beat the food here. My kids were not into it but that was more because the food was sophisticated w amazing flavors and they are typical that they want pizza and chicken fingers. We had a large party there. Service was impeccible and the entrees were soooooo yummy. Great ambiance and cool old historic house. the only thing negative is that two of us got bloody mares (this was at brunch) and they were ummmmm.... less than stellar. I love the chucky homemade types. Neither of us that got them came close to finishing the bloody marys or ordering another BUT I noticed the waiter took them off our tab without even mentioning it after he picked up the 3/4 full glasses. Classy! It is only open for the season and quite a unique place!!

Yelp
Unbelievably good! Fabulous! Superb! 10 stars!!! Yes, this place is amazing. The Holly Hill Inn is in Midway, KY, about 15 miles outside of Lexington, KY. Of all the places to have such a restaurant. Think the French Laundry of Kentucky as you do have drive to get here, but you're so thankful when you arrive and dine at the Holly Hill Inn. We went here for brunch. Brunch is often an overrated and uninspired meal. Not at the Holly Hill Inn. While this is regrettably my only meal here, I suspect the chefs/owners pour as much effort into the Sunday brunch as they do lunch and dinner because I have NEVER had a brunch so good and why work so hard for a Sunday mid-meal if you're not devoting as much or more to dinner and lunch? We began with a chocolate chip muffin with coconut stressuel topping. These muffins melted in your mouth, made even tastier with some butter. Our server then presented us with a small cup of fresh sliced strawberries and grapes. There were six entrees for brunch. My friend and I both ordered the Poached Eggs Providence. Think poached eggs on crispy fish cakes covered with Hollandaise sauce. The fish cakes are made from fresh fish along with some shrimp and scallops. Fried to perfection, the fish cakes went perfectly with the eggs. These fish cakes were moist and lightly seasoned, with a nice crunch as you bit into the fried part, to be followed by the hot fish cake insides. Topping off the eggs and Hollandise sauce were two sprigs of dill which looked and tasted good with the eggs and fish cake. Along with your entree, you are given four side dishes, served family style. We received herb buttered new potatoes, roasted baby vegetables, Weisenberger cheese grits and a green salad with apples, sugared walnuts and Liberty Hall vinaigrette. Normally, I avoid grits as they're just nasty. My friend said, you've got to try these grits. I reluctantly tasted a spoonful. Oh my God! Who knew grits could taste so good??? Creamy, the grits had a wonderful mouth feel to them. The cheese flavor wasn't overpowering, but subtle. The grits were also seasoned with just enough hot pepper to give some heat to them as you swallowed. I wonder if I beg the chefs, they'll share their recipe? Perhaps a bribe? The green salad was the usual mix of small greens, generously laced with julienned apples and sugared walnuts. The Liberty Hall vinaigrette was a perfect counterpoint to the sweetness. Just as my friend and I looked at each other, stuffed, our server brought out a small dessert also part of the brunch. "Just a small sweet thing" she smiled sitting down a coconut and carmel topping over a cheesecake filling thick graham crust. We slowly ate, savoring the dessert. It gets better. How you may wonder? I was expecting this to cost me $30 or $40 per person. This sumptuous feast was $15 a person!!! I am not sure how the Holly Hill Inn makes money on brunch. Everything was fresh, obviously handmade with care and delicious. I'm so sorry I won't be back soon, but if I am ever in the area, I'll make the Holly Hill Inn my first stop.

Yelp
Holly Hill is always so good. If you're looking for a more affordable way to eat there, go for brunch, which allows you to order a la carte instead of the prix fixe menu. Last time I went, I was completely happy with the scones they brought to the table, plus an order of country ham biscuits and yogurt parfait. If you go on a pretty day, you can sit outside on their patio.

Yelp
We had a great time! Four people, on the porch & it was picnic style thanks to Covid-19! The food was phenomenal & the wine & atmosphere made it a great night! There were locals (frequently visit) who brought chairs etc for a "tailgate" type situation & kids were running in side yard. It truly is a hidden gem! I highly recommend Holy Hill!

Yelp
The food was excellent, but the restaurant and its patrons made my partner and I feel very uncomfortable. It felt like they were biased towards their all-white tables, who went on loudly making racist and sexist comments while we dined.

Yelp
Our tour guide, Jerry, from Mint Julep Tours brought us here for a private lunch after our bourbon tour at the Woodford distillery. It was a charming old mansion and the food was wonderful. We had a three course meal and I had the creamy winter vegetable soup with creamy pureed potatoes, root vegetables and red bell peppers, garnished with sliced scallions. For the entree, I had the pan-roasted chicken breast with mushroom and veloute, Weisenberger cheese grits and little french green beans. It was cooked to perfection, the chicken was moist and tender, the grits was rich and creamy I would be happy just to have it as is! As for desert, I had the ultimate mouthwatering apple sour cream streusel pie! I highly recommend this restaurant, great for groups as well!

Yelp
I have visited this restaurant many times over the last few years. This is one of favorite places for special events and out of town visitors. I prefer coming here because of their unique menus and friendly staff. I have been here for dinner, brunch, and to the wine guild events. The wine guild hosted by Steve is well planned and researched, but the cheese plate served is way to small for the amount of people that attend. You basically get one or two crackers with cheese to enjoy during a six glass wine sampling.

Yelp
We recently tried Holly Hill Inn located in Midway, KY. This place had been on our foodie list for some time. The restaurant is situated in an old Victorian style home which was probably part of a horse farm at one time. Beautiful setting. Reservations are recommended but not necessary. Our hostess found us a place on the front porch. First of all there style of food is gourmet. We started with the calamari and stuffed squashed blossoms. My wife didn't care for the calamari because it was too fishy. I thought it was delicious. The stuffed squashed blossoms were excellent. The blossoms were dipped in a light breading and the sauce around them was fantastic. Before we moved onto the main course our server brought us a amuse bouche which means "greetings from the kitchen". It was a cold served soup that had a unique taste. The flavor was unique yet delicious. For the main course we tried the Clark Farm Chicken. The chicken breast was wrapped in a layered flake breading that resembled the type of pastry dough you see in baklava. Perfectly cooked. The vegetables and sauce were a nice complement. For dessert we tried the chocolate nibbles. We shared this dessert. The chocolate fondue was the feature on this plate. Served with a biscotti, strawberry, chocolate covered honeycomb brittle, and bourbon truffle. Nice ending to a great meal. The hostess shared with us the owner was featured on some sort of segment on CBS. Can't remember all the details. This restaurant will continue to do very well. I hope to return soon.
