If you're used to the big farmer's market in Raleigh, this is not the same, but that doesn't mean it is lacking in selection or conversation. I have been going to the HS Farmer's market since 2008 and it has grown tremendously since then for a small market. It was also voted best Small market in NC. From May through October I can do 80% of my shopping here for the week. Some of the items you will find are seasonal produce, breads, sweets, meats, eggs and fish. Recently added are some cheeses, coffee and crafty items. The more you visit the more you will get to know the farmers and their practices. Many of them do limit pesticides, herbicides, etc or don't use them at all. There are some organic vendors as well. Some of my favorite vendors are Crownview Farms which has excellent produce. The quality is amazing year after year as is the taste. Valley Love is organic and has chicken, eggs and pork. Wilkerson's Beef has delicious grain finished cuts of beef.
In addition to all the wonderful items and vendors there are also various activities throughout the season such as Taste of Holly Springs where various restaurants in the area offer samples of their foods, Chili cook offs, Shred-a-thons, and Market Chef series where a chef will prepare dishes using items at the farmer's market that day.
Sometimes good things come in small packages and the Holly Springs Farmer's market is one of them!
