May 31st- June 1st was by far the most inhospitable hotel experience I’ve ever had. While the room looked nice, our bathtub was inoperable during our stay and wasn’t fixed until right before our check out time, which is right where the problems began and things only went downhill from there. The staff were rude, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. We had a discrepancy about check-out timing, were denied late check-out, and harassed by maids and security while waiting for a luggage cart.
To make matters worse, we were later charged for “smoke” in the room—despite no one ever smoking there and the hotel not being able to proved proof ! When we returned to dispute the charge, we were met with more hostility. After repeatedly asking to speak with a manager PRIOR to our return, we were finally seen by the assistant manager Chelsea, who was dismissive and passed us off to Ms. Armstrong, Head of Security. She approached with two guards, prompting me to believe she was prepared for a conflict rather than resolution— and she was ! She refused to listen, and quickly tried to remove us. When I began recording the encounter out of disbelief, she threatened to ban me from the casino!
This is a HOTEL with ZERO HOSPITALITY. Beautiful rooms mean nothing when the service is this terrible. Skip the stress and all the hassle avoiding construction and stay somewhere like MGM—far more professional and pleasant. I won’t be returning to Greektown, and honestly, being banned would be a favor.
