"The intrepid Thai restaurant from chef Deau Arpapornnopparat and his wife and business partner Joy Yuon has made its way to Santa Monica, where perpetual Westsiders like me can finally get our fix within a four-mile radius. The opening Winter menu reads tightly but thoughtfully with a blend of some of the team’s greatest hits (like nam tok, a deftly rendered beef tataki starter, and makrut-spiked prawn aguachile) alongside new dishes. Among the best of the bunch: a towering, tangy ginger crab whose juices beg to be sopped up with steaming jasmine rice, snacks like delicate lhon with crab meat and buttery uni, and tom yum–influenced risotto that swims under morsels of spiny lobster (the latter dish is slightly on the saline side, so balance it by ordering the sweet, but not too sweet coconut-infused panna cotta for dessert after)." - Eater Staff
"Fresh off opening a Thai barbecue stand inMaydan Market, Holy Basil has launched their first Westside spot in Santa Monica. The new space is larger than their teenyAtwater location, but the menu includes similar dishes such as beef tataki, crab fried rice, and pad kee mao, plus new specials like radna with egg tofu and lobster tom yum risotto. There’s no alcohol at the moment, but you can grab a hibiscus agave oolong or dragonfruit rosemary juice to drink." - Cathy Park

"Wedchayan "Deau" Arpapornnopparat’s Bangkok-style Thai restaurant is relocating from its original Downtown LA spot to the former Guerrilla Tacos space in the Arts District, with the Downtown location on the first floor of Santee Court Apartments remaining open until the move slated for this fall. The Arts District site will feature an expanded menu and a beverage program from partner Joy Yuon, and, before that move, a new location of the restaurant will open in Santa Monica at the end of July." - Rebecca Roland

"Chef Wedchayan “Deau” Arpapornnopparat is opening a Santa Monica outpost at 2828 Santa Monica Boulevard, slated for late February or early March, bringing Bangkok-style Thai food to the neighborhood. The operation began as a food stall in a Fashion District food hall serving Thai-style street food like pad see ew and gra pow before expanding to a full-service space in Atwater Village. In Atwater, the menu is more robust with dishes such as scallops on the half-shell, crudo, and crab fried rice; the forthcoming Santa Monica location will hew closer to the Atwater Village menu while also offering neighborhood specials." - Rebecca Roland
