North Park’s Holy Matcha Heading to the East Village - Eater San Diego

"San Diego’s first dedicated matcha cafe is expanding. Since it landed on University Avenue in March 2017, Holy Matcha has been a fixture on Instagram feeds for a chic aesthetic that combines millennial pink and tropical prints with an of-the-moment menu of matcha-based beverages and vegan treats. Created by founder Geraldine Ridaura and inspired by her love of Japanese tea culture, the cafe offers ceremonial-grade matcha whisked in the traditional Japanese method and more modern green tea drinks including matcha horchata and matcha lemonade. Ridaura is still keeping its exact location under wraps, but the next Holy Matcha will land in the East Village sometime early next year. The 820-square-foot space is another collaboration with San Francisco-based architectural firm HOMEWORK, but this outpost’s design will feature a “sophisticated, minimalist” take on the original cafe. It will offer Holy Matcha’s core beverages as well as specialty matcha drinks exclusive to the neighborhood; its trendy treats, including avocado toast, gluten-free and vegan waffles and doughnuts, and dairy-free soft-serve ice cream, will transfer over too." - Candice Woo

San Diego’s Most Beautiful Restaurants of 2017 - Eater San Diego

"Made-for-Instagram Holy Matcha is a cafe in North Park serving—surprise!—matcha and other buzzy wellness drinks and snacks. The name of the game here is (millennial?) pink with smart green accents, many of the tropical and neon kind." - Jackie Bryant

Cute Spot, good food! Wall decor is a little bland, so you don’t get that aesthetic photo if you are looking for that aspect! (7 tables for 2-3) not really accommodating to large groups! They have an adorable Photo Booth in the Lobby!

Google
This place is a disappointment, the design and decoration are beautiful but the drink is not worth its a complete waste of money. The matcha is minuscule and lacked the matcha flavor, it was like drinking a mini glass of oat milk for $9.50. They only have non dairy milk options. It is surprising since this place specializes in matcha..

Mala

Google
Overly priced matcha and not that amazing for what you pay. Nice service and cute little indoor decoration. The banana matcha is good but the strawberry one was unfortunately not. Would probably not come again..

Google
I haven't been here since they first opened! That's me with the pink hair circa 9 years ago. My cousin brought me because we loved the aesthetic and I think this was one of my first experiences with matcha and avocado toast🤌🏻💕 I returned here recently which coincidentally turned out to be their 9 year anniversary of being open! We came to get some cute pix of my grandma for her 95th birthday. My cousin and husband got the horchata matcha, which was really good! Not that I was surprised, but I got a classic strawberry matcha because that's been my jam lately and a concha! Both were delicious! It wasn't as busy as I expected for a Saturday, there was a pop up that day, that had baked goods inside and there were many people using the photo booth. Still love the matcha versatility and still love the aesthetic!

Google
Holy matcha is a cafe with a beautiful ambience and lots of matcha options. We had the everyday matcha latte and lavender lattes. The lattes range $8 and above. They also have specials. We also had the avocado tomato toast which was yummy, but really tiny for the price. Overall, a nice place to catchup with friends and enjoy a nice cup of latte. They also have a Photo Booth and some cute items to sell.

Google
I expected much more from a cafe that specializes in matcha. I took a matcha latte and its price is higher than in other cafes. First of all, the preparation technology was not followed. Second, the drink was so hot that it was impossible to drink. The matcha itself was of poor quality and had a bitter taste. The atmosphere of the place is good, the style is interesting. Many additional accessories are available for sale. However, I do not recommend coming here for those who really like matcha. I am disappointed with the quality of the drink and the taste

Google
Really cute place with some quality matcha! The matcha horchata was my favorite. Highly recommend this place :) Loved doing the cute Photo Booth (what a nice addition)

Esmeralda Lopez

Google
It must be called Holy Matcha because the matcha is only there in spirit. Incredibly overpriced for the 12 ounces you receive. The quality and quantity of the matcha leaves much to be desired. Depending on the drink, you might only taste milk or the added flavoring - not the matcha. I would not recommend, specially if you’re familiar with the matcha scene in LA. The spirulina ceremonial matcha did not have a great matcha flavor and the horchata one was so sweetened that it was basically just green horchata. Very disappointing. Update: we actually went back with our mostly undrunk drinks and the staff incorporated our feedback and replaced our drinks. Reading the other reviews, though, does make you think about the quality consistency.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious Matcha. Came in to try their matcha before buying a 30g bag to make at home. The barista was super kind and guided me through my order and even showed me tips on how to make at home. The shop is super cute too. Love the pink and green. Their matcha is super smooth and creamy. Love it

Yelp
We came here Sunday morning at about 9am to try their matcha drinks. We were there for about an hour and 15min and were the only customers during that time. The cafe is very bright, with pink seating and greenery accents. The woman who took our order and served us was very nice. Overall, I thought this place was prioritizing style over substance. Everything looked beautiful (the interior of the cafe and the drinks themselves) but my drink was only okay. I would try someplace else before coming back.

Yelp
I so badly wanted to like the spot, but it fell short for me :( I saw this place all over social media so my boyfriend and I decided to try it out. The shop is cute, very clean with green and pink interior. The employees were very nice as well. It's only street parking around the area, but we found a spot easily a block away. We ordered the strawberry matcha and the horchata matcha. I did not like the horchata matcha at all, the horchata flavor was overpowering and it really watered down the drink. The strawberry matcha was alright, tasted a bit artificial. I wish the matcha flavor was stronger for both drinks!

Yelp
Super cute place! Came on a Thursday morning and was pleasantly surprised to find they have a lot of comfy seating with outlets. Was going to take my matcha to go but decided to stay and do some work. I love the aesthetic and the staff is also incredibly friendly! They immediately came up to ask if I would like the WiFi and let me know that if I changed my mind and wanted my drink sweetened they could add that after I tried it. I ordered an unsweetened strawberry matcha with coconut milk and it was delicious. I like my matcha unsweetened and it was perfect!

Yelp
Mad that I haven't come here sooner tbh I quit coffee almost 2yr ago & would rely on the limited tea selections at regular cafes. It never dawned on me that there could be a matcha "cafe"/lounge... which is what I replaced my coffee consumption with. Anyways, I came here specifically looking for strawberry matcha & I will say this has a true strawberry flavor & none of the artificial kind. The flowers on top were the cutest surprise. I'm obsessed! Staff was really kind, helpful, & warm. I appreciated their service The merch here is ridiculously cute. Very on point! Makes me wanna buy way too much... kinda dangerous ngl Although I fully walked past this place because the outside was very unassuming (and I was across the street)... it was so darn pretty inside it kinda felt like a matcha speakeasy almost Their menu feels like it has just enough variety without trying too hard. I'm eyeing that horchata matcha for my return!!

Yelp
I love the vibe and decor in this shop! Super cute and great for photos. Huge plus that it's Latina Owned Though it is a little on the pricey side, it does include your choice of milk at no extra cost, unlike other places that upsell you this. This time around I tried the strawberry matcha. Nice sweetness to it.

Yelp
First time trying their Strawberry Matcha! I wish the matcha flavor was a bit stronger, but overall it was good! I got it with oat milk but I def recommend the coconut milk with the strawberry matcha!! The coconut milk does make it taste more like a summery drink and both combinations complement each other more. I think their lavender matcha (or adding lavender syrup to their matcha) makes for a tastier drink than the strawberry. But I'm so excited to try their other flavors. Every time I come here there's new ways to make a matcha drink taste better! I love the vibes here everyone's doing their own thing and the matcha servers are always so nice and have really good recs if you want to try something new!

Yelp
I was instantly drawn to this cafe when I drove by so I had to try it! I drink a matcha latte daily so I was excited to try them out. I got the horchata matcha and it was pretty good, but I agree with other reviews that it was on the pricey side. I don't mind paying almost $10 for a matcha (includes tip), but this drink was very small and wasn't the most memorable matcha latte. I also noticed the barista poured a premade matcha from a pitcher, and I would expect a pricey drink to at least be made to order. Super cute interior with a lot of cute merch. The service is also very nice. I would like to mention that there was an intense cleaner smell when I walked in. I'm glad I tried the cafe, it did look like they had some other tasty options on their menu!

Yelp
I honestly wasn't super impressed.. First let me say that the ambiance is adorable! It was be a great place to get a matcha with friends or do some work because it's so cute and peaceful. I got the glow matcha and the rose matcha and I wasn't impressed with either, first the sizing of the matcha I think is around only 5-6oz if even that.. $7-9 dollars for a very small drink it's a little pricey. Neither of the drinks had a super strong flavor of matcha or the added in items they both just tasted super milky. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype.

Yelp
I cannot stress enough how much I love, love, loved the vibes here! Everything from the decorations and seating to signage and cutlery was so pink and girly. I felt like I was in Barbie land. It was so girl core!! The abundance of plants also added to this pink-green theme they had going on, which was so perfect because they specialize in strawberry matcha lattes. The ambiance was immaculate and truly one of the best decorated cafes I've ever been to. So perfect for photos, I couldn't resist snapping pictures of the interior, food, drinks, and friends. I also liked that they offer diary free options for their lattes! In fact, they don't even have regular milk. Usually, places charge you extra for lactose free, but this is the default option here. But maybe this is reflected in the price; I paid almost $9 for a latte, which I still cannot believe (that's more than boba!). Although it's rather pricey, I suppose you're paying for the ambiance and non-dairy milk. The small donut was also $4, so it's definitely a splurge to go here. The presentation of everything was so cute! I loved the little orange flower they added to the drinks, and the plate the donut was served on was pink too! The staff were also very kind and checked up on us regularly. My friend and I did homework here, and it was such a good study atmosphere. They have free wifi, outlets, and a bathroom. We were never rushed or anything. I have to admit that it was a little difficult to find parking around this area, though it's definitely possible to eventually find street parking. Overall, I loved Holy Matcha and the unique experience it offers, though it is definitely on the pricey side!

Yelp
My fiancee was super excited to try Holy Matcha when we were in San Diego and absolutely loved it, but this isn't about her experience, it's about mine so let's get into it. I can't not mention just how cool this place looks off the get go. The walls here are bright, the neon "you, me, matcha" sign is cool and photogenic, and the place just feels nice to be inside of, it has great vibes. The menu here obviously focuses tea and lattes but since I don't consume either of those, I ended up ordering the Blue Spirulina lemonade since it was blue, so obviously it's going to taste blue (this is a joke). How was this drink? It was fine, just fine and it's honestly the only word I can use to describe this drink. Don't get me wrong here, the drink wasn't bad at all but it just tasted like a pretty standard lemonade and the flavour was fine, but not something I will reorder in the future. Overall, Holy Matcha has a lot going for it in terms of having a really cool looking building, a friendly and quick staff, and a great location to go with it. The menu definitely caters to the matcha crowd (as it should since that's literally what it is) and is definitely a great place to stop if thats what you want, so hey, give this place a chance for yourself and see how the matcha is.

Yelp
Amazing! Good quality matcha, clean atmosphere, and tables to work or dine at. Love how quiet this spot is and it seems like you can always find a table if you want! The strawberry matcha was delicious, it's on the pricier side but all non-dairy options are included in the price unlike some others.
google avatar

Risto K.

Yelp
Just unbelievable shop! I have never been to matcha only shop before, and Holy Matcha blew me away. Nicely decorated with lovely interior, fabulous service and fantastic product. I ended up having mix of strawberry and lavender matcha which went down fabulously. In fact it was so so good, I ended up having two. I think I discovered my favorite matcha station....

Yelp
Holy Matcha holds a special place in my heart. My cousin, who I was very close to, loved coming here when she was alive and lived in SD. My other cousin and I got to check it out. We can see why she loved this place so much. The employees are so friendly and welcoming. They answer any and all questions you might have. The matcha is amazing! Strong flavor. The drinks aren't sweet either, but they can make it a little sweet upon request. They have food as well. We got to try panna cotta specially made by the owner. It was delicious!! (You can find this in the refrigerator near the entrance) The ambiance is refreshing and makes the perfect spot to get work done or have a matcha date with a friend or loved one. We couldn't leave without getting souvenirs. Holy Matcha has dope af merch. From crew necks to shirts, even stickers and pop sockets for your phone. My cousin and I left with shirts and a tote bag. 10 out of 10 would recommend this place! :)

Yelp
A cute matcha cafe in North Park with an aesthetic interior. The matcha is a little bit more on the pricier side around $8-10 for a small cup which only comes in one size option. You can customize your matcha with dairy free milk options and order it sweet/unsweetened. Strawberry Matcha: 7.5/10 the strawberry flavor paired well with the matcha. I ordered it sweetened with almond milk and thought it was the perfect amount (not too sweet). The matcha flavor could have been much stronger in my opinion (was almost too overpowered by the milk and the strawberry) but perfect for girlies who are trying out matcha for the first time or don't prefer the strong matcha taste.
google avatar

Linnette R.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday. I have not been here in a while. I usually tend to get a strawberry matcha. I decided to go with a Hojicha strawberry matcha. It was good. Would definitely recommend this place to try matcha drinks. They have a pretty aesthetic. The people are helpful.
google avatar

Felicia T.

Yelp
I took my sisters here to start our North Park excursion. It was a Tuesday afternoon so no line or crowd. My oldest sister loves adaptogens and really appreciated their range, she ended up getting one of those. My other sister does not like matcha at all but decided to try the sweetened strawberry matcha. She really enjoyed it! Pricing wise it's typical 5-7 for a good matcha latte, and they're beautiful presented. Our barista reminded us to let them know if we needed any adjustments, so they're very accommodating. I ordered the Heavenly, which is just matcha plus blue spirulina because I love blue colored things. It was delicious and delightful to look at! It's a nice matcha treat when you're in the area!
google avatar

Tommy N.

Yelp
Cute matcha cafe with an ambiance that is very much pink. Great drinks and great place to study.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Pretty average iced matcha. I got the strawberry matcha which was fun a different - lightly sweetened which I enjoyed as well! Super girly vibe inside. When I ordered there were 6 women inside and 3 women workers. Love the female empowerment! But they definitely have a target audience. While the matcha was fine... not worth $8 for 8oz in my opinion!
google avatar

Jasmyn F.

Yelp
I am a matcha girl and this place is IT! This is the best matcha I have ever had and the shop is definitely instagram and Pinterest worthy. Staff were knowledgeable and able to provide recommendations which was greatly appreciated. I wish I lived locally because then I would be a regular! We need a Holy Matcha in Northern California!!
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
I had no idea what to expect when my friend's suggesting checking out this matcha place after brunch. I'd heard of matcha but didn't know much about it. After chatting with the barista, I settled on the strawberry matcha as it seemed like something that would be relatively safe. Not only was the drink pretty but it also tasted good. The decor here is very instagrammable and a super cute spot to hang out.
google avatar

Jonathan D.

Yelp
Friend and I were craving a matcha after brunch and we discovered this cute spot! Vibes are cute, very pink-themed inside and clean! Matcha was good, but kind of small for the price. But I love supporting local small businesses! I had the Matcha Chai and my friend and the Matcha Strawberry and the drinks were so good! I also bought a chocolate chip cookie sprinkled with salt which is house made by the owner and it was so scrumptious!
google avatar

Joanna R.

Yelp
I love this location. It is very beautifully decorated. And the matcha was delicious. The customer service was great. The Barista asked me what sweetness level I wanted and it was made to my liking. This particular day I wasn't feeling well and my matcha latte definitely helped. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
(+) Strawberry Matcha Latte (+) Ceremonial Holy Matcha is a café that serves all things matcha. Matcha is a powdered tea that has plenty of benefits for your body. For example, it is packed with antioxidants. There are lots of different and unique drinks on the menu. The café is quite trendy and all the walls are painted pink. Instagrammable pictures of your cute drink and background are encouraged. Drinks: What I liked about the ceremonial matcha was the subtleness of the tea. I've had other matcha drinks and usually I can taste the tea leaves, which isn't a bad thing, but the ceremonial matcha you can taste the quality. The strawberry matcha latte was also delicious. The strawberry puree and matcha tea were the perfect ratio. Service/Ambiance: There are plenty of tables to sit at. It's a perfect date place to sit down and chat. Order your drinks at the counter, and pick them up when your name is called. Overall, I would recommend Holy matcha. I'm an avid matcha person, and their drinks were some of the best matcha I've ever had. I'll definitely be back when I visit San Diego again!
google avatar

Nell E.

Yelp
Hot damn and Holy Matcha this place is lit!! loved my Horchata Matcha, the cinnamon and rice milk paired well with matcha's green gusto. the original Holy Matcha was too hoppy and starchy for my liking. Beautiful decor in Green, velvet, granite'd glory, that will make you raise up your hands and say Holy Matcha!
google avatar

Jayla H.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place because it's all about matcha. The environment and aesthetics were amazing. The staff were friendly and provided a lot of information about the drinks. We tried the strawberry matcha and the chai matcha. The strawberry matcha was a bit too sour for my taste, even after adding agave. However, the chai matcha was delicious. I did feel that the prices were a bit high for the cup sizes, though.
google avatar

Caitlin V.

Yelp
I was in San Diego for the day and wanted to try Holy Matcha. It's such an aesthetically cute (pink and green decor) coffee place, but I wasn't a fan of their Matcha Horchata, which was their award winning drink. It didn't even taste like matcha. It was bland with cinnamon on top. On a positive note, the staff and service were wonderful.
google avatar

Karla R.

Yelp
This place is well decorated, relaxed and has drinks that are just as pretty and tasty to match. My friend and I came here for the first time together and we couldn't help ourselves from taking super cute pictures since the cafe is just so cute! There's pink everywhere with pops of plants, so it's a delightful atmosphere. The drinks were a tad bit overpriced IMO, but worth a nice treat. Lavender matcha latte - 10/10. The floral taste of the lavender paired so well with the matcha!! It married earthy and floral tastes so, so well and I loved how the baristas garnished my drink with a couple of purple flowers. There was street parking available and luckily, we didn't struggle to find any in the area.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
LOCATION: University/31st in North Park PARKING: Street parking only WHAT WE ORDERED (can't remember prices, oops): * The OG Latte - Your typical matcha latte. I was disappointed because it tasted so watered down, even with no adjustments. *Strawberry Matcha - A lovely mix of strawberry and matcha! You taste more of the strawberry than matcha, though. I would adjust the sweetness level on this one as it exceeded my sweet tooth. *Lavender Matcha - Also tasted slightly watered down? The lavender flavor isn't as strong, so this drink is tolerable if you're not into floral tastes like me. * Strawberry Rose - Probably my favorite drink of all the ones we ordered. Not too sweet, you could taste the matcha, and it wasn't diluted. TLDR, the shop is cute, the workers are friendly, but the drinks are mid. It's also a tad more on the expensive side. Drinks were roughly $6-$7 for a small cup.
google avatar

Kathy P.

Yelp
All matcha spot with all pink decor in a little chic space down in North Park. Had to check out Holy Matcha as a matcha fiend and it was delicious! I ordered an iced OG latte, which is just their signature ceremonial matcha. All of their drinks I believe come with dairy-free milk, which is fine but could have been publicized on the menu a bit more! I'm a dairy lover, but also a dairy-free enjoyer, but would have been nice to know they don't have any dairy milk at all. Smooth tasting matcha and I got it sweetened as well! Super cute shop. Service was pretty normal, would come back again to enjoy another matcha in this adorable space!
google avatar

Mellani L.

Yelp
Sucha cute little shop with delicious drinks. And this is coming from someone who doesn't care or like match all that much. Came here on a rainy Saturday night and it wasn't busy at all. The workers here were really friendly and the woman who rang me up was very knowledgeable on all the drinks and helped me decide on the coconut matcha latte. It was something I've never tried before and I was excited to try it. The drink itself isn't overly sweet. The taste of coconut def comes through with a hint of matcha. I really enjoyed it esp since the matcha wasn't overwhelming. The girls I was with ordered different drinks and tbh the strawberry rose was by far the best. All in all a very cute shop with yummy drinks and friendly workers! Def stop by if you're in the area.
google avatar

Felicia R.

Yelp
Came here to catch up with a friend - tried the strawberry matcha and it did not disappoint. Super cute interior snd friendly staff plus cute merch if you want to rep when you're out.
google avatar

Selena J.

Yelp
My favorite matcha place! The staff is very friendly, sweet, and knowledgeable about the menu! They helped me with all my questions. I got their strawberry matcha and it was delicious! If you're in the area, I would definitely try this place out! Not to mention, their drinks are aesthetically pleasing!
google avatar

Czarina V.

Yelp
Holy moly, Holy Matcha! I finished my drink in less than 10 minutes (sooo goood!). They don't do sweet--their concoctions are as organic as possible--hence they're naturally delish without the guilt. The ambiance is quite a vibe too--Instagramably chic! Service was great and perhaps the only con would be the parking situation which is pretty limited. Why Holy Matcha hasn't branched out in LA County yet baffles me because I'm waiting.
google avatar

Sophea V.

Yelp
3.5 stars The ambiance is everything here! It is a pink matcha cafe!! It is so so pretty and well decorated. The cashier was so helpful and took their time to help us with what to order. We got their "holy'est of the holy" matcha. It was good but I think $9 for matcha and the for its size was not worth it. The pretty ambiance makes the difference, overall, their matcha wasn't that impressive.
google avatar

Rachel A.

Yelp
This is a super cute matcha shop. They have wifi but finding parking in the surrounding area can be hard. I got a matcha jasmine tea latte with oat milk at 50% sweet but it was not my favorite. Not sure why; maybe it wasn't sweet enough, or maybe the jasmine tea was oversteeped? I'm down to give it another shot though.
google avatar

Casey T.

Yelp
Yummy matcha but very very expensive Reading older reviews, I think they may have some inconsistencies with quality depending on who's working. Unlike many other reviewers, the matcha drink I had was not watered down and was very flavorful! I got the coconut flavor drink but didn't taste the coconut at all - it was just a regular matcha latte (which I don't mind) The drinks are very cute and aesthetic, and I enjoyed the flower garnishes that they added! The overall store is also very nicely decorated too, but it did feel very gimmicky

Denise L.

Yelp
I love this place! First time trying their matcha horchata and it was amazing!! their strawberry matcha wasn't the best but good to try. Their music choice is top tier and super ambient. It wasn't too busy in the morning plus the employees are super nice!
google avatar

Chi Shan W.

Yelp
Matcha taste wasn't strong. Coupled with the small size of the drink and the price, I wouldn't recommend this place.
google avatar

Mayu H.

Yelp
Love love this place and I wish i live close by. Staffs are super friendly and helped me to pick menu. Took so much time to explain their sweets and drinks. I bought a sticker and I wish I could buy some t-shirt or sweatshirt but I have too many so I didn't. My strawberry matcha with oat milk was great.
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
The most aesthetically pleasing pick me up! I ordered the strawberry matcha latte and it was so yummy! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about each of the drinks, so it helped making a decision easier- already planning to come back for their strawberry matcha
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Holy matcha is one of my favorite spots to hit near north park. I get work done here all the time. Outlets and tables are easy to find. Insanely strong matcha drinks that are super healthy for you. The music is on point. The pink colors will brighten up even the hardest work or study day! Parking can sometimes be tricky. Park 1-2 blocks away from the Main Street.
google avatar

Le'Andre D.

Yelp
Very cool place if you love Matcha like I do They have a variety of drinks Didn't get a snack here, but I'll definitely return
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
I have to admit this place it pretty dang aesthetic, cute, Instagrammable!! When you're here, it's more than likely you'll see a photoshoot happening at one place or another. I ordered both the iced strawberry Matcha latte and the hot Matcha latte and thought they were pretty decent drinks. However, I do feel like the drinks are a little overpriced for what you are getting. You're looking at an average of $10 for 1 matcha latte + any addition milk substitutes, ect. So be cautious of that since things can add up QUICK. Would recommend to check it out once.... don't know if I'd return just bc how expensive it is here.
google avatar

Lindsey L.

Yelp
Amazing spot to get matcha! Not only was the matcha latte I had absolutely fabulous, but I was stunned by the beautiful ambiance and the exceptionally friendly employees. I had a great conversation with the cashier while my drink was being made and it brightened my day. I'm not from the area, but if I was, I would be stopping by multiple times per week. Also, their merchandise is super cute! In total, if you're looking for delicious drinks, kind service, and an Instagram-able view- I would definitely advise you to try Holy Matcha!

Yelp
Atmosphere: Holy Matcha is one of the most Instagrammable, aesthetically pleasing drink shops we've ever been to. The light pink interior, plants scattered around the shop, and a wall covered in roses provide endless opportunities for photos of both your drink and yourself. Service: Our server was very kind! She eagerly answered our questions about the different drinks on the menu and offered us her recommendations. There luckily weren't many people in the shop when we went, so our drinks were brought out relatively quickly. Food: We ordered The OG Latte, Strawberry Matcha Latte, and Lavender Matcha Latte all with oat milk. We appreciated that we could choose dairy free options at no additional cost! The matcha itself was great, not being too sweet and still having grassy notes. Strawberry matcha is one of our favorite drinks, and the one at Holy Matcha did not disappoint! The strawberry was a nice fruity addition to their high quality matcha. We also loved the subtle floral flavor in the lavender matcha -- it wasn't too overpowering, which can sometimes be a problem in lavender drinks. Overall: As matcha fans visiting a matcha specialty shop for the first time, we were impressed by Holy Matcha's adorable interior and variety of drinks. Though definitely on the pricier side, we thought that the price of the matcha included the experience and vibes of the shop!

Yelp
Pricey! $8 for a 12oz cup of lavender matcha latte. I like my drink, but this isn't a splurge I should be making every weekend, that's for sure. Friendly staff, fast service. The interior is way overdone for the gram, but I guess that's fine. Some people were working on their laptops when I came in, so maybe a good remote working environment?

Yelp
Overall: I love matcha and I would say the drink I got was very delicious! I do like how everything is revolved around matcha. However, parking is TERRIBLE, especially in that part of North Park. If you aren't already in the area, it can be hard to get in. Also, there is not a lot of space. FOOD: I was only able to try one drink, but it was super cute! It even had Matcha written in match on top. I would like to try the other drinks next time SERVICE: There was only one person but she was sweet, kind, able to handle the pressures and still did very well with our group AMBIENCE: I wish it was bigger. It is a nice place to be, with the overly playful pink to the abundance of plants, but its not a good cafe to be at to do work or anything. PRICE: The quality is good, but the price $6.50 for a regular drink, that's rough.

Yelp
Aesthetics are on point. The spot is super cute. Very Instagram-y. Even the bathroom is cute. Street parking only $7.50 for a regular sized latte (if you think of Starbucks sizing it's between a tall and a grande) Taste wise--it didn't do much for me. I wanted to like it, but it felt over-hyped & okay in flavor. Kind of a bummer. I ordered a dirty horchata (cold brew + horchata) & expected it to be sweet but it wasn't at all. Wish I would've known that when ordering. All good.
