Holy Smoke BBQ & TaquItos

If you follow the yellow brick road at El Camino Bar to the end you will find the Holy Smoke food truck. The menu is short and you may have to ask what some selections are, but overall you will find something to your liking. The portions are a good size and the brisket is lean, nicely smoked, and filling. Although seating is plentiful, it may be different during busier times. I went during lunch and had a harder time choosing where to sit than what to order.

Highly disappointed. I had been anticipating trying this place out for awhile now just to be let down. Menu was way over priced for what they were serving. Brisket was decent nothing special, good seasoning though. With a name like Holy Mac I was expecting to be converted to a new BBQ place, it was just Mac with brisket on top nothing out of the ordinary. The mini taco plate was definitely not worth the money, tortillas came cold and brisket came dry. Even the drinks were hot. I guess this all comes from it not being authentic. I tried asking about the how they started up and I was told to contact the Instagram page. Most owners of up and coming places are the ones there putting in the time with their customers. This is just my opinion maybe their food just wasnt for me. Either way good luck to the ppl at Holy Smoke BBQ.

Waited for 5 min for someone to notice that I was waiting to order. I had to knock for someone to peak. ---I guess no one sanitize or clean the tables through the day. The food was good. Good flavor. Good portions. Good patio. ---Not the greatest service. 2 guys were in the truck. ----The menu says 4 tacos and got 3 because they didn't have the small tortillas. So they should change the menu to 3 or serve 4 tacos regardless.

This place was a wonderful surprise/find near downtown. The brisket was AMAZING, the outdoor seating was the best I have seen in a while, and NFL on the big screen with the giant swing was the icing in the cake. Recommend 💯!

This food truck was amazing! I got the Holy Grailed Cheese with jalapeño bombers and it did not disappoint! Food was delicious and located right outside of El Camino so it has the perfect spot to sit outside downtown and enjoy your food with a drink and friends.

Food was delicious, the birria brisket tacos were amazing. The macaroni for the Holy Mac could have been a little creamier. The Billy cheese fries was delicious as well. Prices were reasonable. All around great experience.

Holy smokes this place was great!! I don't understand how anyone could leave a negative review for this place!! I am absolutely stuffed after half this potato!! My husband got the holy grail (brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese) and I got the big papa (baked potato with brisket and Mac n cheese) and neither disappointed! The only thing I'd change is take the bacon bits off the potato but that's just personal preference. Great staff, no wait time to order and not a very long wait for food!

Holy Smokes, I'm very full and satisfied! I was surprised to learn that this BBQ spot is a food truck however, they have a seating area with a very cozy feel, a large TV and swings in the outdoor area. The Loaded Potatoe and the Sandwich are amazing! Their brisket and Mac & Cheese are amazing!

This Mexican smash burger was honestly the best burger I've ever had. The jalapeños, onions, juicy meat, avocado, ham, and sauce all worked perfectly together. It comes with chips which is a little disappointing. It could definitely be taken to the next level with fries. I tried the holy grail smash burger and I'd give it a 4/5. It was definitely good. It was not amazing though. It has Mac n cheese, beef, and bbq sauce.

Y'all. This place is soooo good. They have this brisket sandwich, with macaroni... and... Texas Twinkies. To die for Revised a year later. Quality of food has decreased and price has increased! I'm okay with paying extra for good food, but not extra for food that had diminished greatly in quality.

The food is so damn good!! But keep in mind that downtown is busy, parking is limited, so be prepared for some prep to get to the deliciousness! Definitely worth ordering and picking up if you don't wanna fight the flies, mosquitos, obnoxious tourists making snarky remarks about lines prices loud music everything they feel entitled to loud enough to hear cuz they don't know what personal space is in line etc...and as obnoxious as the crowd was this food is so good and this review isn't about them Karen's! However the food is so good once you sit and eat you forget all about the noise! Definitely worth the price and wait!

These lunch plates were the perfect choice on a Sunday afternoon. We were able to order quickly and found a shady bench to wait with a little frozen margarita. After about 20 mins, our food game out gooey hot and we were so stoked to eat. The tacos were the right balance of crunchy and chewy The only downside to this downtown location is the parking. We were fortunate enough to get street parking right there but I wouldn't know where to look past that.

I was craving some smokey bbq and Holy Smoke hit the spot!! Did I mention they make their own corn tortillas?? Yea...I'm salivating too. I ordered one pork taco and one brisket - both with onions and cilantro. I also got a side of smoked Mac and cheese because the bench told me too. Definitely a filling and Smokey delicious meal. Right smack on the St. Mary's strip, I'm sure it'll be a hit after a night out of drinking. You can also order your food, go next door to the bar, order a drink, sit outside, and enjoy the night :) This place just opened about 2 weeks ago so be sure to check it out! Oh! Vegetarians! Don't feel left out! He makes a smoked jack fruit. Try it!

Honest Review: Don't waste your money here. I was on the fence about this place because of the negative reviews but I had to find out for myself. It started off bad, first they ran out of Turkey legs and cream corn. Luckily the weather was nice so sitting outside wasn't so bad. The second negative are the prices. They're charging restaurant prices for a food truck experience WTF. I asked for 1/2 lb of lean brisket and 1/2 lb of moist. They didn't listen to me and gave me a full lb of fatty brisket all in one container. The Barbacoa is not real barbacoa and their salsa sucked. The BBQ sauce also sucked. The pork ribs were ok but not enough to justify the hefty price. If you like to waste your money on crap, then come here. If you value your money don't even bother coming here. I won't be coming back ever.

Love this place! The food is amazing! Just smelling and looking at their food makes my mouth water! They did a fantastic job at enforcing social distancing rules and regulations while still having impeccable service! Everyone in line and in the food truck wore masks! I think it would be helpful to provide hand sanitizer considering that multiple people use the iPad, credit card scanner, and pick their own drinks from an ice chest. The lady that took my order did an excellent job explaining the menu to me which made my experience super convenient and efficient! I highly recommend ordering the Holy Mac! This menu item has macaroni topped with brisket and barbecue sauce! As a Texan and someone who grew up on bbq, I give this place 5/5 stars!

Let me start off by saying some of the best unique street tacos I have ever had. Brisket stuffed TX Twinkie (jalapeño popper wrapped in bacon) on top of a brisket taco. The only down side is they are a little pricey but being honest worth it for a first time. Yum!

Came in to try the grilled cheese and brisket, and the brisket potato. Also ordered the jalapeño bombers. Items we ordered were 10-15$, the size of the potato was good but it wasn't amazing. The bombers were 10$ for four and they were on. I would get the grilled macaroni and brisket sandwich it was pretty good. The location is outdoors so be aware of the weather. It got cold fast when we came to eat here. I probably won't be coming back.

The pull pork was mouth watering delicious; however, the brisket was maybe 5x better and I'd go over and over again once this stay-at-home order is lifted. I visited this food truck on a taco Tuesday because they were giving away free tacos and smoked Mac for people in the community during the pandemic. The line is always moving, but it looked long bc social distancing was being practiced. Everyone I encountered, (at 6ft), was very upbeat and the guy handing out the tacos was very positive about the whole ordeal. The generosity I experienced was so humbling.

El Camino Has some of the best food trucks in San Antonio. The Texas Twinkies and basically anything with brisket in it at this food truck is delicious.

The bbq was delicious! The barbacoa taco was great but would have been better on corn. The brisket slices were nice n thick. Loved the red onions on the tacos and the salsa was delicious.

The Holy Grail sandwich with twinkies was great and filling! A grilled cheese filled with mac & cheese, brisket, and I added on the three "twinkies" which are actually bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers with a kick.

I love this place. I really do. The food itself is great. The 3 stars are for the location and quality of food. So, the location is good location but where they are set up is not good at all. It's a small entry way, where people crowd around so much to order. Not maintaining the 6 feet social distancing. Everyone was wearing masks, which is a good sign. When I got home to open my food, the box to the Brisket Mac n cheese was smashed. Luckily the food wasn't. The quality of food was not great. Received my food hot but when I opened it to eat it, it was getting cold pretty quickly. I ordered the Holy Mac N Cheese. It's my go to, and the brisket was a bit dry. Mac and cheese was a bit cold. Like I said, this place is always good but maybe it was an off day or something but I wasn't satisfied, especially the price I paid for it.

Stopped in to get a snack to share after the water park; should've gotten my own lol Very good brisket birria tacos! Brisket not dry at all like some places. Green salsa is bomb! Super spicy. Definitely will come back.

This place sucks. Took the family and my son ordered the brisket tacos. Me, mybwife, and daughter ordees from a differnt truck, got our food and finished before he got his. On top of that​, we even ordered a pizza when we finished, and it was ready before his was done. 35+ minutes later after numerous people before him are served, he gets tortillas and meat. No toppings, no salsas, nothing. On top of that, after he asked several times where his food was, when he finally got his, they owners offered nothing but a half-ass "oh sorry", and then told him that they ran out of m​ac and cheese.​​ Crap service and junk food at that.

horrible!! i ordered mac and cheese and got pasta and water . no flavor, the pictures are a lie. very runny mac and cheese ! gross... i was so excited too.

I ordered my food plain and dry and I spent almost $40 to drive home and they messed that up I told the girl 3 times just meat and cheese and they still put condiments and even at that the burger tasted like trash and so did the fries e trying about this food truck was pure garbage I highly don't recommend especially for $40!

This is my favorite spot to go in San Antonio to get bacon wrapped jalapeños and birria tacos. They are currently the standard for me with birria tacos, just the right amount of cheese, meat, and it's cooked right! The birria stew is delicious as well and it's great flavor for dipping. It's the best for a light night meal grab and if you're out drinking they have a location right at a bar with a night area to sit in. I haven't had drinks at the bar so I have no review for them, these tacos are just that good I'll drive 20+ mins for them.

Love. Good, smoky BBQ presented in creative dishes with way too many calories that just makes it all the more enjoyable. Definitely worth a splurge. It is the perfect late-night-of-drinking kind of meal. Good thing they're parked right in from of a bar. Very clever. Still easy enough to access for a decent pickup/to-go experience. Definitely recommend.

Went there Friday for lunch with my grandsons Jake and Andy. 13 and 11 yrs. they truly enjoyed what we ordered. And loved the way the plates were fixed. Their ready to go back on a weekend for the big red barbacoa. Excellent food.

The location is great. It was parked in side of El Camino right on the river walk. Sadly they were out of the Big Papa (loaded Baked potato), so I just had the mac and cheese. It was okay; it had a nice smokey flavor like they used smoked gouda. My husband got the holy grail grilled cheese. It was very messy to eat but he said the Brisket was solid. I will be returning to try the Big Papa and for the venue!

So I've only been here three times, but I have to say I freaking love it! This is seriously some of the best brisket I have ever had. It literally melts in your mouth, and when you get it on the mac and cheese it's incredible! The first time I came they were out of mac and cheese, I honestly didn't mind - I mean that just shows me your food is legit and people want it! Plus they said it would be a hot minute as more was on the way. Unfortunately I had to get back to work. The rest of the office ooh'ed and aww'ed at that smell that I just came back a few days later and got everyone the mac and cheese with brisket. They still talk about how awesome I am lol! Thanks for making me a work hero, fam! I've since started following them on IG and they are really good about posting what's available. Amazing food, good communication, a friendly staff - AND it's all outside so I don't have to worry about the Rona and eating with strangers. Oh, and I said I been here three times but only talked about the mac and cheese brisket, right? Hopefully one day I won't get so full on that I can try something else! I'll update you when I do. San Antonio has shown out this weekend with the food. I kid you not, Holy Smoke, goes on the list of some of the most amazing food trucks I've eaten at, and I've had a lot of food trucks. The holy grail, was amazing. It was like a grilled cheese sandwich with brisket, and I didn't know until today that my life needed it. The billy fries were ok. 3 out of the 5 of us ordered the Barrias tacos. I didn't like them, but they loved them. The vibe of the courtyard was everything!!!! From the huge tv to the decor. This is so much more than a food truck.

I've been drooling over other people's pictures of Holy Smokes BBQ for the past week. I finally had the chance to try them out. I just ordered 1/2lb of brisket. It came w some corn and flour tortillas and some garnishes. I asked for marbled brisket and they didn't disappoint. The flavor was on point. I I honestly didn't even need the bbq. However I did try some w their bbq sauce and it was really good too. They let me try their smoked pork belly. Seriously. So yummy! I will def be back and try our other options on their menu. Give them a try if you haven't! Support local businesses!!!

Food was cold. Mac and cheese nothing to die for. Brisket cold! Missing some flavor maybe onions or jalapeños. The big papa was okay again nothing really stood out. Sad was really hoping this place was worth coming back for. Asked for barbacoa and they only do it on Sundays.. even tho it says Saturday and Sundays.. over all disappointed.

This place did not disappoint!! The Big Papa is a must! Definitely bring your appetite because the name isn't lying...it's BIG!

My husband and I are foodies. Maybe our standards are to high but I don't see what the big deal is. Got a pound of brisket, very fatty, probably 1/4 we didn't even eat. Mac and Cheese, I'm not sure where the name came from. It was awful. Noodles way over cooked and I tasted no cheese, mushy oil is what it was. The green beans were decent. And the tortillas.... no

Cant say enough about this place the atmosphere is awesome with ample seating outdoors. Plenty of good free parking at the location and the food is outstanding. I'm usually a hard judge of mac n cheese but thoroughly enjoyed it here and even better with some sauce mixed in. The brisket was amazing super tender & full of great flavor. Easy to mix with the mac. Definitely one of my all time favorite BBQ places or just chill places thanks to the atmosphere. Almost forgot $8 64oz beer

Amazing food! Superb customer service. Had dinner at the food truck in el Camino last night. My brother ordered a brisket sandwich thinking he was ordering the holy grailed cheese sandwich. The manager stopped by to see how we were doing. After telling him that we mistakenly ordered the wrong item, he replaced our order after we paid the difference. It's awesome to know that not only do they have one of a kind bbq, but also stand by their product and are willing to do right by the customer, even though it was our mistake. Highly recommended, we will be back.

So so food . Brisket sandwich looked like a slider on a HCF bun from H‑E‑B. Very little meat for cost . Fries undercooked, Mac and cheese tasted microwaved . Not a good value at all

Delicious!!!! I love bbq but I'm picky when it comes to bbq. Let's be honest some people are terrible at cooking bbq!!! I had a brisket taco, the Mac and cheese with bbq, barbacoa taco and the cream corn and ribs. Let me tell you these ribs were amazing, the best I have ever had. The Mac and cheese with the green chili mixed in was absolutely amazing!!! I love the uniqueness of the Mac and cheese. I'm pleased with everything, don't forget to order their salsa cause it's amazing!!!

Excellent brisket sandwich. The bun was perfect and slightly sweet. We also got some loaded waffle fries which were fantastic.

Really wanted to like this place but we went today to the Broadway location and (this may not be their fault) but they're choosing to serve food in an area where almost no one is social distancing or wearing masks. The food was also expensive for what you were given. I got the Holy Mac that came with 2 slices of brisket and macaroni. The brisket was actually really good, but for only 2 pieces and barely any bbq sauce (I had to add some), it didn't seem worth the $13. The macaroni that came with it was terrible. It was mushy and tasted almost powder like. I'm not sure if it was over cooked or old but it was not great at all. My microwaveable cup macaroni tastes better. I had really high expectations for this place but I won't be going back. The brisket was the only thing that is worth trying in my opinion.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Paid nearly $20 for a brisket sandwich and fries to go. Fries were basically uncooked and the brisket was terrible. Anyone on earth could make better bbq than this place. Don't waste your money.

Their Mac and cheese is out of this world. I can't think of a place that makes better Mac and cheese. Their brisket is every thing you want to represent Texas. big juicy and lean can wait to try more items

First time here but have been following on insta for awhile and looked mouth-watering. We got 1 beef rib, 1 lb brisket, texas twinkies and small mac n cheese ($80, kinda expensive but the price of beef right now is crazy and the amount of time, work and skill you have to have to properly smoke beef makes the price totally understandable) Everything was amazing but the star of the show was that beef rib. There were 3 of us and it was unanimous that was all our favorites. No bbq sauce was needed even though the little side they give you is really good sauce! The bark on the ribs and brisket was peppery and the smoke was strong but not over powering. I don't leave reviews a lot, but people need to know about this!! Can't wait to go back to try the pork ribs, turkey legs and barbacoa!
