"Holy Water opened its doors two years ago in what was before a delicious beverage vacuum. While there were definitely some solid places to get a cocktail in La Lengua, if you wanted something tasty up the hill, you were out of luck. With well selected rotating beers on tap and a cocktail list of about 15 lovely drinks, this is both a destination spot for SF as a whole, and a local favorite. Every nook and cranny of Holy Water has been carefully considered and designed. Antique decanter chandeliers hang down from angry cloud ceiling wallpaper, and a giant photo on the wall of a river baptism makes you feel slightly guilty (although you can’t pinpoint exactly why). Wait is that just me? mmmm, never mind. The point is, Holy Water is a great spot to begin or end your night." - Strohl
"It’s no secret that Bernal has a bit of a sleepy reputation. The crowd at Holy Water begs to differ. The neighborhood’s favorite cocktail bar is alive and buzzing almost every night of the week. Locals show up to Holy Water to hang out and catch up and you should do the same, keeping in mind that bar seats see little turnover as conversations deepen and voices amplify. You’re best off only inviting one good friend to join you during peak hours or a couple friends for happy hour — every day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m." - Matt Tillquist
"The Bernal Heights neighborhood of SF is home to several unique gems, like this cozy tavern where rosaries, tin Milagros, and various depictions of holy figures cover the walls, with Mexican prayer candles placed throughout. While a stellar craft beer list often takes center stage here, the cocktail menu, featuring classics and original creations, is equally impressive. Don’t miss the Immortal, featuring Zacapa Rum No. 23 mixed with banana liqueur, herbaceous bitters, and Mây Amaro — made in collaboration with Red Dao medicine woman Lý Mở Mẩy from foraged botanicals in Vietnam — for a bittersweet interplay." - Vox Creative
"Holy Water feels like one of the best-kept secrets in San Francisco, with a gothic spiritual feel that’s favored by its quiet Bernal Heights neighborhood. The team is made of San Francisco cocktail alums and supported by an interesting back bar of rare and unique spirits. It has one of the best whiskey collections in San Francisco, plus niche options like Vietnamese amaro."
"A Bernal Heights spot cited as one of several popular destinations where fans can find the limited February release of Pliny the Younger." - Paolo Bicchieri
