I’ve been wanting to try this place, and it does not disappoint. We got 2 cocktails tonight, Rosemary’s Baby, and Ginger Martini. They were both so good. I was able to taste the subtle flavors of ginger and rosemary in it. It was delicious. Now for the food, we got onion soup, prime ribs (cooked medium rare) and HK burger. The onion soup was so hearty. Its was so hot, and the piece of bread floating on the soup with the melted cheese on top. It was simply delicious. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. I like how it was prepared, it was coated in the bourbon sauce and charred. It was nice and charred on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. The mashed potatoes were very nice as well, with cheese combined in it. The flavor of the burger was also good, although it was a bit dry. The French fries were simple and delicious. It was a great dining experience and with great food. The servers were also friendly and nice. However, I believe it was the host, he dropped by at each table and said hi except for mine and I found that a bit odd. Otherwise, everything was very nice. Will come back again for sure.

Was longing for meatloaf during our visit to New York and found this hidden gem tucked away in one of the alleys. Sergio our server was friendly and service was great. Food was good, maybe not how I thought meat would be but it was great and loved the flavors.

The food was amazing 🤩 The pot pie wasn’t quite as thick (more soupy) than I like but the flavor was good. The spare rib grilled cheese was fantastic. Food here is a little pricey but it’s NYC so what do you expect. Quality ingredients and flavor and we had the best seats in the place with a street view. 5 ⭐️ for sure

French onion soup was absolutely phenomenal, and drinks were tasty! The bartender and server were very pleasant - I visited at a time when not many people were dining, so I got to witness a lot of good interactions. My one complaint is price range listing, which is probably Google’s fault, not the restaurant’s - if you’re getting a drink with your food, there’s no way you’re spending under $40. Cocktails range from $15-20 and entrees are between $19 and $40. Overall this place is very good to stop by, particularly if you want a place to sit outside.

We came tonight on a lark while visiting NYC for the day from Jersey. I’ll just say this: we will likely be making a special trip up to the city in the future just to visit Home Kitchen. Pete and his staff were warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. My son got the short ribs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I got the pot pie…. SHOWSTOPPER. If you have time, pop around the corner to his father’s candy shop and grab a chocolate malt.

I was spending my morning in Central Park and found this place nearby, so i decided to give it a try. I was amazed by the eggplant parmigiana, look at those layers of eggplant...perfect! I came back to celebrate my birthday with my family. Lovely experience!

A hidden gem in the upper east side decently priced compared to the $100+ places that dominate the area. The French onion soup seems to be a crowd favorite, and it definitely lives up to the hype. Very flavorful and not too salty. We got the roasted chicken for the second time in a row, and the cobb salad and latke were pretty good. The place overall was very homey and the service very warm.

Had an excellent French onion soup here few weeks ago. It was my first time trying French onion soup, and since then, I’ve tried it at other places, but it’s not been as good. The fries could have been crispier.

friendly service. Good food. The wait staff at this place should be given a raise. I walked into a place full of chaos. About six moms had just shown up with about a dozen children..they proceeded to make it the restaurants problem to take care of the kids running all over the place while they drank. The staff was awesome in this situation.

This was a good restaurant. We went for dinner after a movie and we were pleasantly surprised. We had: - Crispy Artichoke salad - good - Salmon - tasty - Roasted Chicken - good and moist The staff is friendly and the restaurant is cozy. Overall a very good meal.

Terrible food, enormously overpriced. I had the prime rib special (which they offer at the end of the week). It was dreadful, and I was shocked to discover that, with two beers, my bill was over $100. The meat was grey, not served with horseradish, tasteless, under-seasoned, just the worst. I've eaten here once before and had. A bunch of appetizers. Everything app wise was liek average bar food but charged at a premium. Do yourself a favor -- DO NOT eat here.

Had a wonderful evening with hearty warm delicious dishes! All the flavors were on point, and the atmosphere plus staff were very warm & inviting. One of the staff held the door open for all guests coming in & out which was an extra touch, it was nice to have a warm welcoming and also thanking us for dining there. My favorites are definitely truffle Mac & cheese along with the pot pie & short ribs, so tender!

We had intended to go to Aunt Jake's around the corner for pasta. They were having a pasta class and the bartender was incredibly rude. We found this place on yelp and it was just as people reviewed. Easy relaxed bistro with good basic food very well cooked. Each of our dishes were delicious and the preparation of the vegetable sides were delicious. Waiter was friendly and helpful, but the service was little less attentive than I would have liked. But that could have been that it was an incredibly slow night and we all know what happens on slow nights... Excellent food though

I was having a nice peace filled relaxing day and had a delicious meal. Then a young chubby Caucasian male waiter said "Let project 'fun' begin." In today's climate we know what that means. Pick your waiter wisely I guess? Bummed I chose this place for dinner tonight.

Super cute place, maybe we just ordered the wrong things but food was just okay. Pot pie was pretty bland, and the fish I ordered was super overcooked and dry. The veggies under it were cold, so I think it sat out for a while before coming to our table. Waiter was super kind and got the fish taken off the bill, so we were totally satisfied but probably won't be going back.

My boyfriend and I really like to come to Home Kitchen for brunch. Been here 2-3 times and the staff is very friendly and nice. The food itself is good too! We may come back to try non-breakfast items but so far, breakfast/brunch has been really solid. Thank you!

Great family restaurant, even has a kids menu! The drink menu was solid offering various amounts of wine, beer and speciality cocktails. The dinner menu featured a veal and it was delicious. The service was great, we were always attended to. Would definitely recommend for a casual or family outing.

Went here after the Met. Ordered kids stuff, apps - came out within 5 mins? Definitely not fresh made. We got the pot pie upon recommendation.... I dunno it was just all right and forgettably bland. Soup with a piece of puff pastry on top that was so scalding hot we waited 10 mins to dig in. Also seemed premade. Ambiance was cute and comfy. Really wanted something special here and this was not it, maybe we ordered wrong.

28$ for eggs benedict (22$ plus tax plus tip = $28), which was just 2 eggs on an english muffin with NO SIDE whatsoever, sides are on top! This is a small local restaurant, nothing fancy, not a fancy downtown restaurant. The world is going nuts.

We went on a Monday for lunch. The place was empty. I ordered the avocado toast. The toast was cold. Furhter, the wait, even for the check, was extremely long. I do not recommen.

After enjoying a morning tour at the Met we took a 5 min walk to Home Kitchen. You can dine curbside or downstairs in their main dining room. Since it was Sunday their brunch menu was being served (we were there at 2pm). Their were many options to choose from and not knowing what I really wanted I went with the Brunch Platter for 2 ($36). I'm glad I did because everything on the tray was wonderful. Bacon and sausage were spectacular, eggs were fluffy, and the avocado was fresh. Their coffee was nice and strong being served table side in a French Press (3 cups). Service was friendly and all were working to help every tables. Definitely would recommend if you're in the area and don't want to break the bank.

Love the eggplant parm. Drinks are good, too. Would love to see more variety in the menu, and a more creative brunch menu, but what we've tried has been good.

Great food, great service, and great ambiance! We came here this past Saturday after our visit to the metropolitan museum of art. Great spot to go to since it's location is a very convenient distance and not as expensive as eating in the museum's food court. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will be sure to stop by again!

What a genuine treat! After a miserable experience trying to order through Door Dash, owner offered to deliver our order himself. Food was great - well prepared, well seasoned and fresh. Will be our new "go to".

Came for late night happy hour (8-10) and it is worth. Oysters are $2 a pop and cocktails are $12. We got a cocktail each, a dozen oysters, and cajun fries. It was nice out so we decided on outdoor seating. Service is not as fast outside but it is alright. The cocktails are on the strong given, given that it's HH prices. The oysters were fresh and were enjoyable. The fries were hot and spicy and came with two dipping sauces: chipotle mayo & ketchup. Would come again!

Cute little restaurant. Fried chicken was fried perfectly but needed seasoning, potatoes latkes fried perfectly sorta dense. I was told the ravioli was good and meatballs where the star of their meal. Waffle wasn't fluffy for my liking but chicken was good. The French onion soup was flavorful. Staff was very nice and attentive.

This place is so cute. I went with my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and it was convenient because it was so close to the Met. I made a reservation about two weeks prior, and when I walked in, they already had my table waiting for me. The staff are very welcoming, holding the door for you as you enter and exit, and on top of that, the food is so so good. We got Mac and cheese balls as an appetizer, and they were to die for. I got the cheese ravioli entree, and it was very good. The dessert special, which was chocolate lava cake, was exceptionally well made. A crunchy-ish outer layer and a decadent and soft inner layer. I am so happy I found this spot and I will definitely be coming back

An amazing brunch spot that isn't completely packed that serves high quality food at a decent price... in New York City? Didn't think that this sort of place existed and yet here we are. The staff at Home Kitchen were super friendly and helpful-- it helps that we were one of four tables at 11:30 for brunch on a Saturday. I ordered the breakfast platter for two with my partner, which was a lot of food for $18 each ($36 total). The food was also all great quality. Bloody Mary was also decent too. Would 100% recommend.

This place was good enough for me to come with two different groups of people two weeks in a row. I got different dishes each time I came and enjoyed them both. The food definitely feels home cooked (in a good way) and fresh! The one odd thing to me is that a dish like egg plan parm or chicken parm doesn't come with pasta. For a new restaurant this place was pretty busy and felt like it was full of locals. Note-- The staff is super nice, but they are still getting the hang of things. (My waiter wouldn't let me the customer copy of my reciept)

Ok, I think I just had the Platonic ideal of roast chicken. Peter, the charming and beyond-capable owner/host, said the goal of Home Kitchen was to offer food like you got at your parents' or grandparents' house. No offense, Mom, Nana, or Grandma, but WHY WAS I NOT PUT UP FOR ADOPTION? I am not proud of the picture below, but let it be noted it is a testament to the deliciousness of the chicken. Sometimes, taste trumps vanity.

Needed a quick lunch before a MET visit. Limited menu - mainly breakfast items but some daily specials. We had the meatball sliders, French onion soup, and a mixed salad (white bean plus chicken). Quick and good service. Note this is a weekend "mom and child day out" spot so expect some irritable kids and a fleet of strollers. Damages for 3 with tip was $87.

We were visiting the UES and wanted brunch. The weather was perfect so this place didn't disappoint. Our waitress, Andrea, was super sweet. I wish this was in my neighborhood. I would frequent this place regularly!

Came here on a quiet weeknight and got a table right away. Chicken pot pie was truly flavorless. I NEVER add salt/pepper to my food at restaurants but had to do so liberally here. The texture was good, but the lack of flavor really sank it. Agree with another review that the bread was extremely thin (more like bread wafers than slices) though I didn't particularly care. Server was extremely nice. Really wanted to like this place, so I'll probably give it another chance since it wasn't good but wasn't awful - just vaguely disappointing.

My friend and I stumbled across this restaurant by accident today, and wow! We were both blown away by the space, the food, and the service. The space is clean and looks fairly upscale, the food was delicious, and really reminded me of a proper, home cooked meal. It made me miss home! We came to the city with a tour group, and our server was even kind enough to ask about our travel schedule to make sure our food would be out in time so we'd make it back to our bus! The service was above and beyond. If you're visiting the MET or spending the day in Central Park, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try! It's only a 10 minute walk, and my friend and I were so impressed by the dining experience that we both left happy, full, and satisfied.

This quiet nook in NYC is small but the food is filled with big flavors. The service is fast and friendly. I had the fried chicken with roasted carrots . Delicious!!!! The ginger Margarita could use some work, the alcohol was so overbearing that I could not enjoy the flavor. I will definitely return and recommend Home Kitchen.

The steak would be highly recommended, the best of my lunch. Others were just ordinary, not bad but far from marvelous. Waiters and waitresses were so warming! Actually, for food I just wanna give three stars, but the service deserved another star!

I like home kitchen, good food good drinks, but the ambience just doesn't entice me. Just doesn't really call me in to seek out that place even though the food is home cooking style and pretty good.

I absolutely love this place! Great food and fantastic service. We had the Kale Caesar and the Orecchiette Broccoli Rabe & Sausage. So so good! They also have a full bar which was an added bonus. The owner Peter, bartender Sergio and Abby our hostess were so warm and inviting. Ask for Abby, you won't be disappointed. So happy we found this place!!

Warning: Eat here and food anywhere else just won't measure up!! Everything about my experience at Home Kitchen was exceptional. The salmon was the best I've ever had in my life. All the food here comes from family recipes. You can taste the passion in everything you order. (Cocktails included! I highly recommend the Café Mochatini but you can't go wrong with any of their delicious cocktails. Dennis is a bartending magician.) Beyond all the wonderful food and drink offerings, the hospitality here is what will really keep you coming back. It's the rare sort of hidden gem hospitality that once you find, you don't let go of. The owner, Paul, goes out of his way to greet and check on all his customers. His passion for what he does shines through immediately. (And just wait until you get that first bite of your entree.) In general, all the servers and bartenders here have extensive experience in the restaurant industry. They will not steer you wrong. Do yourself a favor and make yourself a home in Home Kitchen.

I googled "comfort food" and home kitchen popped up - it did not disappoint! I got take out since I wasn't feeling the best but I'm sure it would have been even better in person. I would definitely recommend the potato latkas and French onion soup. So delicious! Probably wouldn't get the fried cauliflower though because it was not crispy. Service was very kind. I will be back again!

Food was very good. Waiter had many dish Recommendations and all sounded yummy. We had pasta dishes and Cesar/kale salad (no pic on the salad but it was great). The place is a hidden gem off of Lexington Avenue, the restaurant was a walk down, tables ready for party of 2 any any size. We did not have reservation but they were able to accommodate us. The prices affordable. Quiet, relaxed place, loved they had reggae music on, very low background but nice. We had dessert, apple pie a la mode and espresso, coffee was not bitter, cup steamed and it was great.

This restaurant is good. Food is American style. The environment is clean and comfortable

I'm giving this place three stars because my initial experience was kind of mediocre but I think that was partially due to ordering poorly. This is a super cute little spot with a lot of potential. The muscles were the highlight for me, they came with a delicious red sauce that I could've drank all of it with a straw. The kale Cesar that I had was slightly underwhelming, not super crunchy and just was eh. The steak special that evening I believe was a skirt steak and it was fine, slightly under seasoned, but the price was way too high for the portion of meat and the quality. I will likely come back to try other menu items like the chicken pot pie because this place is pretty close to where I live so I will update if I try again!

Food was 7/10 service was 4/10. Chicken pot pie had a buttery flaky crust & a nice chewy center that's crispy at first and melts right in your mouth... which is exactly how I like it. There was an equal ratio of vegetables to chicken.. I would've preferred the base sauce to be a little thicker, but it was fine nonetheless. It was filling enough for one person. The fried chicken was plain & bland. It had a nice crisp to it with a juicy center, but could've had a little bit more flavor. Tasted like chicken just dipped in flour, fried, & then served. Mac & cheese had a veryyyy sharp taste - no cheese pull btw Didn't appreciate how I asked for a box and a check from the jump & had to repeatedly ask for the check two more times. The second time server approached us he asked if we wanted dessert & very clearly said no, just the check please & then came back with the dessert menu... third time he came back he said so no dessert? And we said no just the check please. He passed by our table probably a dozen times (mind you there were only three tables with 2-3 occupants at each table - it was a late Sunday evening not very busy) & not once took our check... had to ask another staff member to grab our check & even that staff member passed off the task to him... could've very easily helped him if his coworker was busy. Time management was suboptimal. Will give benefit of the doubt considering could've been a long day. Might be a great place for others, but not looking to come back because food was okay and service was below average. Don't like to completely trash restaurants based on my experience, but it could be a nice place to catch up with friends or have a small family birthday dinner. Hope your service is better than mine when you check it out.

I don't even know how to put this into words. I feel... nourished. The drinks were surprisingly creative - had the Upper East Side Mule which featured limoncello as a mixer for sweetness and citrus. Worked! The menu was downright boring, yet each item was technically perfect. Starter was the best Mac n' Cheese balls I've ever had... maybe even the only ones I've ever liked. Most others make me feel like I'm somehow being talked down to. These were crispy, with a sharp cheddar inside - more like arancini than anything else. For the main - chicken pot pie. Nothing special, everything perfect. Music: songs nobody could hate. Highlight: Hit Chocolate's "I believe in miracles". After visiting Home Kitchen, now I do too.

This meal was the most heartwarming meal I've had in a longgggg, long time. I truly felt like I was home and that is an unbearable feeling. I came here a Sunday evening with my girlfriend for dinner and got seated immediately. The vibe was very calm, there were some older folks and families there. We ordered the pot pie, eggplant parm and Mac and cheese balls. The pot pie was warm and delicious, filled with yummy veggies, thick broth and juicy chicken. The eggplant parm was THE BEST WE EVER HAD. One of the owner was there and told us the eggplant parm is his mother's recipe, unaltered. I could definitely taste the soul in this food and will be returning.

Really wanted to like this place, but while the menu is good, the food, unfortunately, is not. The fresh orange juice is $10 and the size of the glass is not commensurate to the price. The selection of breads is good, but the quality of bread is not, nor was it fresh. The toast came out cold. The food is definitely pre-made as another reviewer mentioned. The waffle was very hard and had definitely been pre-made and reheated. The pancakes were fair. The side of fruit was minuscule. Bottom line - the food is not freshly prepared and the quality needs much improvement.

Happy 2nd Anniversary. To many more years of excellent food, cocktails and service! Your warm atmosphere makes it feel like home.

Great food and service. My girlfriend and I came for brunch before an appointment we had. The server was friendly and very attentive. At one point, we asked to check on our order because we had to leave in 15 min. When she came back, the food was coming out at the same time. The person bringing out the food told us that the food is made to order. I had the short rib grilled cheese and she had the slab of bacon grilled cheese. Both were very tasty. I'd definitely come back again

We had a delicious dinner! The menu has a lot of options, pasta, fish, sandwiches, salads, everything. And the variety of sides is impressive, not just fries and rice. I would try the potato pancakes next time. Started with carrot ginger soup, which was nice, pretty filling. I had the eggplant parmigiana and loved it, it was a big portion, and baked perfectly. My mother had fish & chips which were like homemade fishsticks. They weren't oversized or heavy/greasy, she said they were delicious, too. We were too full for dessert but I would bet it's very good. The decor is cozy, a nice bistro style. And the staff is great. Great for a date or a meetup.

Perfect brunch for 2 before heading to the MET. Small dining room but very cozy and top notch coffee and the 36 dollars plate to share hit all the spots .

Solid comfort food, excellent salads, and a great wine selection even on the happy hour list. Service excellent and friendly.

Finally tried this great restaurant and it lived up to the hype! After splitting a kale ceasar to start, we had short ribs with mashed potatoes and eggplant parmesan and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious and super fresh. We split a slice of coconut cake which was heavenly. The servers were so warm and welcoming. Will definitely be back!!

Fantastic meal! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Lamb shank special and apps were awesome. Their mezcal margherita is amazing!
