"Palm’s Caribbean transports Iowans to the tropics, even in the darkest and snowiest days of winter. Cook and co-owner Amara Sama was raised on his stepmom’s Liberian food and his uncle’s Jamaican fare. Both influences make their way onto the menu at this food stand, which serves customers every other week at the downtown farmers market, as well as large events throughout the year, including the weeklong Ragbrai bike ride across Iowa. The aroma of spicy jerk chicken wings and jollof rice attracts lines wherever Sama and co. pop up." - Karla Walsh

The other day we went out to try our local Afro Food for the first time and it was pretty good specially the fufu and palm butter stew, it has a little heat to it which I like and I’ll be back to try more other things. And we would also like to thanks Anna for paying for our meal that day we will diffidently pay this kindness forward.

1st thing's first........ Delicia was the waiter and omg I loved her customer service, and I loved the food !!!!!! This place is 100 % waaaayyyyy better than other African spots I've visited here in Des Moines. Nice and clean environment, NO bugs flying around as you eat like the other place has, multiple choice of Beverages, and my family and I had Egusi with delicious soft fufu . Alcohol is served here too beer: Modelo, wine coolers: Bahama momma, strawberry daiquiri. Soda: coke zero, sprite, ginger beer, Water and more...... easy to find parking behind the building, but it can be difficult to park if busy...... I WILL BE COMING HERE MORE. The total experience was awesome! Also yes highchairs available for your little one. I have discovered handicap parking is available, this place is convenient to gas stations, convenient to more restaurants, barbershop, and more.

Got the palm butter soup (more of a curry stew consistency) which was delicious! I got the brown rice, more pepper forward, not as diverse as jollof rice, still fantastic. You gotta go here now! They have weekly specials, huge discount if you order dine in. Super clean shop and friendly staff.

The food is good, but it's way too overpriced. I used to go there every weekend, but the prices keep increasing. It used to be $16, then $18, then $20, and now it's $24. For that amount, it's not worth it since you don't get a good portion. They need to either revert to the original prices or provide more food. Also, don’t order from DoorDash; the prices are $34! Additionally, the food is inconsistent. One day it’s spicy, and the next day it’s not, and the flavor isn’t always the same. The owner is cool, but I don’t see how they can stay open much longer with the current inflation and prices. And you will see their menu on their window and they won't even have half of what they say they sell.

This is my first time at Home Touch Kitchen. What a perfect name for their restaurant. I feel like I’m sitting at the table at my African mama’s house, and I’m not even African. I ordered the Okra soup and fufu. I grew up eating spicy Vietnamese food, so spice is always an added bonus for me. This dish brought the heat and the flavor. I would highly recommend checking out this lovely hole in the wall for a tasty cultural experience.

If you’re wanting authentic African food, this is where you wanna be. I grew up eating home made Vietnamese food so I don’t mind how spicy they make their food. The spices are actually really warming and makes it feel like you’re having a comfort dish. I’ve tried this place twice now but we’re definitely coming back for more. Pictures are of okra soup and fufu, and fufu and soup.
