"The Hill Country fare at the casual restaurant consists of deviled eggs, fried pickles, chicken-fried steak, and shrimp and grits. For drinks, pick something out from the admirable bourbon and wine selection. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Erin Russell, Nadia Chaudhury

We were visiting and decided to have lunch here on a Thursday. Their daily special on the wall included a BOGO steak burger so we ordered that, beef soup, chicken with small house salad, and chicken lettuce wraps. The burger and chicken were dry, the soup was flavorful but lukewarm, and the wraps were okay. It’s a small dining area and small bar. The waiter was friendly and the food took awhile to come.

Google
First time here and we were really pleased. Definitely will be returning. The fried catfish was really good, the waitstaff was extremely friendly and the inside is cozy. Oh.....the appetizers (fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs)...yum!!!

Food is simple and good. I stopped while on a road trip and was pleasantly surprised with the place. Homespun is very small and you end up pretty shoulder to shoulder with other customers. If you’re a party of 2-4 you can definitely get comfy but any more and I think you’d feel cramped. I had no complaints with my food and I think the portion size is good. The place had a nice little selection of mocktails aswell which I always appreciate.

Google
We had a great experience here on Mother’s Day. Good food, drinks, playground for the kiddo, and live music from Bob Rose on the patio. We will definitely stop by again if we’re in the area!

The food and service at the outside bar were great. The Buddha bowl that I ordered was delicious esp with the coconut dressing. One major complaint - this place has a smell. Inside and outside have different bad smells. Not sure if it’s because it’s an old building or what. I almost left, glad we didn’t because like I said the food was actually very fresh and delicious. Hope this is resolved in the future!

This is a delightful farm-to-table restaurant that instantly stole our hearts. With handcrafted cocktails, live music, and the ability to accommodate specialized dietary needs, this place had all the makings of a perfect dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting—romantic yet relaxed—with a well-stocked wine bar, a friendly staff, and a scratch-made menu that spoke volumes about their commitment to quality. Google
Went here on a weeknight and didn't know we needed to make a reservation. However, they were able to accommodate us quickly by sitting us in the patio area. The food here is decent, and the service was OK. I don't know if I would consider the patio area family-friendly, though. It has a bar with drunks that use bad language with toddlers present.

Such a cozy little restaurant in Dripping Springs. We stopped in for dinner and we are so glad we did. Service was perfect, food was delicious. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
What a little gym in a culinary delight. Some of my favorites are the grilled tuna, and the salads for healthy options but yet on the other end of the spectrum they can still pull off Southern comfort foods like fried Green tomatoes and chicken fried steak... They also have a pretty mean chicken fried chicken but I always prefer the chicken fried steak. They have quite a selection at the bar also with one of my favorites being the old fashioned and I always love the classic Bloody Mary. The location is perfect and the atmosphere is excellent. I love the interior decor and the overall architectural feel. This definitely sets a special ambience to the atmosphere. If nothing else swinging to grab some fried green tomatoes and a Bloody Mary!

Yelp
It has been long overdue and I haven't posted any 2024 reviews due to attempting to finish my degree but I am long overdue. OK let me paint a picture mid-January a buddy and I went and had a weekend in Dripping Springs. He came over from Killeen and I am from Blanco so pretty local and I am always in Dripping. We decided we needed something warm doing the cold snap. We both had soups the chili and the navy bean soup were phenomenal. My friend had the au jus sandwich and he said it was pretty good and loved the flavor. I bet you are asking well then why did you give the restaurant a one star well here it is I ordered brunch and usually that is a pretty safe bet. I ordered over easy eggs and they were so hard the yolks were about greyish green. My meal came with toast and when it was forgotten I had a clear shot in the kitchen and it was taken out of a bin and it was re-warmed up and when it got to me the toast tasted like over buttered cardboard. I want to like this place this is why I have given it 3 chances and I will just have to say I would not recommend but try at your own risk.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and good food. I had fish & chips. My son and grandson say that this place has the best chicken fried steak in the Hill country. Our server was busy but still attentive. We will return

Jennifer E.

Yelp
Ate here on a Sunday. Ate on the front patio. Wien was our server and she was very kind and good at her job. The food was ok but not great. They charge a 3% fee for any non cash payments. It would have been nice to know that before. They also have a back patio that was enclosed and has music playing on the day we were there. Parking was a tad of a challenge.

Matt C.

Yelp
Great service from a very friendly waitress and very good food. We really enjoyed ourselves and want to come back sometime for live music in the ice house out back.

Alan H.

Yelp
What a delightful find in a small town for a healthy farm to table restaurant! The staff was extremely nice and gave great recommendation. We ordered the grilled shrimp tostadas, chicken fried steak, and the fried catfish ponchartrain. Tostados we're so yummy, chicken fried steak came with a nice creamy gravy, the catfish was cooked well but was a bit under seasoned. We also got key lime pie and ores cheesecake. The key lime was incredible! Overall a great place with good food and amazing drinks! Definitely will be coming back!

Nicolle M.

Yelp
This is our new go to in dripping springs. The dishes are solid southern comfort food, the drink options many, and the ambiance is genuine. The people really make this spot special. Everyone is nice, friendly, and authentic. They have musicians almost every night, and plenty of indoor or outdoor seating. The food was also good. The chicken fried chicken with gravy was a favorite of ours. The chicken was cooked so well- crispy but not dry. Shrimp tostadas were surprisingly delicious, but the best thing we had was the key lime pie. I normally dont do dessert but YOU HAVE TO. Its the owners own recipe and it's amazing. Pair that with one of their many great cocktails to the music backdrop and you will have a great night! Overall highly recommend- We will be back for sure.

Geoff G.

Yelp
Small dining area but cozy. Food was good, great selection of beers and wines. I would definitely go back.

Jonny C.

Yelp
I would take a friend here. Most of the negative reviews were around service. We had no problems with that. Don't get me wrong no one's pulling your chair and folding your napkin when you stand up and down but they're there, they're attentive and what I would expect. We were outside on the patio area which was nice. Didn't see much of the inside so can't say much about that. The food was a lot better than I thought. Tbh this was the last place open on a Sunday night so we went. After seeing the stars I was ready for a mediocre meal. However the food definitely surpassed that bar.

John K.

Yelp
Cute place, but small. We were a little apprehensive to try them due to the mixed reviews. Anyway, we went for lunch and had their steak burger. Was pleased to learn that it was on special every Thursday - BOGO!!!! The service was friendly and fast, and the food was very good. They also have a full bar. Would dine there again if in the area (1:20 from our house).

Rachael L.

Yelp
We tried this as a 1st time on Mother's Day. Big disappointment. If you are looking for more traditional brunch breakfast food, this isn't your place. I had the eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, potatoes and sourdough toast plate. The "ham" is 1 piece of Canadian bacon. The sausage was from a frozen section at the grocery store. The sourdough toast was literally bread from the grocery store and not even toasted. The potatoes were barely cooked. The chicken and waffles that my husband and son ordered seemed a bit better than my meal. Nothing special though. Ambiance is very crammed. Service was ok.

Gideon E.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken fried steak, it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.

John S.

Yelp
I found a small pebble in my breakfast potato's this morning after biting down on it. I Have some tooth pain now. Heading to the dentist Monday to be seen. Who allows rocks in their food? Unbelievable . That's the last meal I'll be having there.

Isamara R.

Yelp
Great food and the bar has the best selection of whiskey , excellent ambiance The service was also super

Claude D.

Yelp
Normally really good - but stopped by Thursday for BOGO burger night - ordered two burgers of the day - only later to be informed they were not part of program-

Sherika S.

Yelp
My wife and I came to Dripping Springs for a stay at Camp Lucy. On our first night there we wanted to try a local spot. Despite the reviews, we decided to try this place out. We came in pretty late, the place was packed! We were greeted and offered the back patio service. The vibes reminded us of a restaurant/bar from a Hallmark movie. Think vibrant, quaint, and lots of smiles. My wife ordered the Fried Catfish Ponchartrain. The flavor was on point, nice and seasoned. It was a bit on the spicy side for her, so she sent it back and got the Fried Platter with catfish and shrimp. Again, everything was seasoned perfectly. My favorite was the large, juicy shrimp! I ordered the Steak Burger and it was a good, simple yet slightly elevated burger. I had it medium well and it was very juicy. The fries were solid, nothing spectacular but they were the right tooth in, consistency. If you drink, order the Malibu Bayou Punch. It's definitely enough for two people. It's not overly sweet, you can taste the alcohol. I'm not sure what these other reviews were about because we had a great experience!

Yelp
What a jewel! We did not have reservations, but got lucky and grabbed the last 2 seats at the bar. (There are only 6 bar seats) We started out with Chips n Queso! , then had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was tender, hot and super tasty. Love this place! Our new Fav Spot in Dripping Springs.

R J.

Yelp
A pleasant place where we have stopped previously going to & from the Hill Country. Have always received pleasant service & we enjoy the old building ambiance. Food has always been fairly solid but the chicken fried steaks were definitely disappointing this visit. Meat was VERY dry, over-cooked & TOUGH, even though it had obviously been sent through a tenderizer. Kitchen also needs to try a new recipe preparation that will KEEP the breading from separating from the meat when it is served. The breading on ALL of our CFS's had separated & fallen from the meat before being served. Not good, but we overlooked this as the first true food failure of several visits & it will not keep us from returning.

Yelp
Fried fried fried fried fried.... Talk about some comfort food! Chicken fried steak fried onion rings fried Green tomatoes..... Tasty drink after tasty drink after tasty drink..... This is the place your doctor is warning you about. The ultimate brunch Sunday party. Casual, outdoor, and if you've totally given up on your diet.... This is a place to pig out! All joking aside..... You won't be disappointed in the tastiness!!!

Otis G.

Yelp
The food was horrible. Unbelievable that they are even open to serve food. I ordered queso and chips. Chips tasted like they been left out all day. The cheese hardened immediately. Broke all the chips as you pulled it out of the cheese. I should have walked out when they messed this up. It's sad actually!!! However I waited for my meal which was chicken fried chicken. Gravy was a pepper mess, the chicken was rolled in fish fry batter and was not eventually rolled. They rushed it , the fries were soggy and not crispy I could not eat even one. The Mac and cheese tasted like the queso and chips. Do yourself a favor avoid this so called home cooked restaurant. The waitress asked if I wanted a box I said no I can't eat this anymore. She brought my check without asking if anything is wrong. There are flies everywhere inside landed on the food. -* horrible

Nicole G.

Yelp
First off this customer service was top tier our waitress read the room and didn't not fail us, we had two hangry kids and she was so quick and attentive. The food was delicious very much that country home style cooking it was so good!! This is a small cute little hidden gem here in dripping springs Tx and everything that was ordered was absolutely delusion, I can't stress that enough!! A must try!

Erica F.

Yelp
The place is near the heart of Dripping Springs. The food is upscale while the place still feels relaxed. They have live music outside and a good cocktail menu. Make a reservation!

Nancy M.

Yelp
Nice food, everyone enjoyed their choices. Fun service, good atmosphere. Bar is stocked with above average selections. Very nice dinner and lovely Easter brunch. So many places closed on Monday, this place is lively! They work hard to accommodate but I recommend reservations if possible.

Donna H.

Yelp
Fun Texas heartwarming experience! Good food, Great drinks, and Friendly service. Love the variety in their menu and their specials!

Cindy L.

Yelp
We did not have a good experience. My husband ordered a hamburger. They asked how he wanted it cooked. He said medium. It came out well well done. I ordered the shrimp tostadas (I should have known better) they came out like the cook just threw them on the plate. Our server even made a comment. They were terrible. The only reason I gave it a poor instead of a terrible was our server was very nice and apologetic. Won't go back!

Austin W.

Yelp
Nice cute and cozy place! Just down the street from the shops in Dripping Springs, this was such a cute find! The buffalo chicken sandwich I had was both huge and delicious.

Sara M.

Yelp
A friend and I decided to do some short small town trips around San Marcus, and Dripping Springs was one of those towns. For lunch, we stopped at a Homespun Kitchen, which was recommended. I was very glad we did. We both ordered their chicken salad sandwich, which came with a side of fries. It was delicious. Their menu was pretty good and it was actually hard to choose. They have a good food variety and prices were not bad. This place seems to be very popular because it was fairly full at the time we came. Homespun Kitchen has a very cozy feel and staff was amazing. Our waiter was charming and very funny. I recommend stopping here to anyone visiting Dripping Springs.

Riki C.

Yelp
What an adorable old school building. This building has such a cute feel. When you walk inside the entrance way, right off the bat you see an amazing liquor selection at the bar. When you walk into the dining area, the liquor selection just looks that much better, As they use high end whiskey and tequila boxes to decorate the mantel and the bathroom. It's a great idea even though it obviously is just easy decor. FOR THE FOOD! I had the shrimp tostada appetizer, which was delicious but I was disappointed that the "tostadas" were just mini round chips from a Tostitos bag. But they were still so good, the shrimp was cooked perfect and the other toppings were great. My parents both got the catfish plates with fries, which was both pretty good plates. The difference in amount of fish each plate had was pretty different. One plate had about 6 full pieces and then my mothers had only 3 full pieces and a handful of catfish trimmings. The service was good and very quick, it's a great little diner find!

Molly M.

Yelp
this is the fourth time I have been and I always give them one more try but... not again. service is good but that's it. 1st time for brunch . eggs Benedict severed without sauce, had to ask to bring it since the forgot, chicken fried steak super tuff and just not good

Chef J D.

Yelp
Service was great! Very fast and friendly. Unfortunately the steak was so tough I couldn't eat it. I guess they forgot to tenderize it. The crust and gravy was tasty.

Leslie R.

Yelp
Excellent food the server was great. She did forget my main entrée and served us the appetizer, my husband's dinner all at the same time but all in all it was a great experience a nice little place with cute ambience. I would definitely recommend!

Hannah H.

Yelp
Just came here for lunch the dining room is very small everyone is sitting on each other, ordered the Mac cheese pulled pork the Mac n cheese was watery and flavorless and when I got the "bbq sauce" it was also watery and smelled and tasted like an Asian sauce wasn't even good, my husband got a buffalo chicken sandwich which was battered in a fish fry batter and the chicken fell right out of the batter, even my daughters meal was awful, we got her a grilled cheese the cheese was barely melted and the bread was dry as if they put no butter on it, also the male manager who I believe was also our server was inattentive and yelling at his staff for no reason and overall not treating them very well, coming from someone who has worked in this industry before it was very disappointing.

Robert M.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience at Homespun recently. Early on a Friday afternoon I made reservations for 2 for 7:30 that evening. I thought that was sufficient time ahead. We got there a few minutes ahead of our reservation, only to the told at the door that we probably wouldn't be seated until 8:30. The young woman at the front desk claimed that their online reservation system 'can't see how busy we are.' There were empty tables in the dining area inside. I was left to wonder what the point is in having an online reservation system if you're not going to honor the reservations. It makes me very very leery of trusting them again. We've had some excellent experiences at Homespun in the past, and we've had a few disappointments. This ranks as a big disappointment..

Wilfredo M.

Yelp
It's our first time in Dripping Springs and our hotel staff recommended this place. I have to say that they were right as the restaurant is amazing. From the staff, Shane, to the amazing food and drinks; everything is great. On top of that; we were able to chat with the owner and she is amazing. We will be back today for brunch!

brooke c.

Yelp
Favorite place ever! Thank you for your great service and wonderful drinks! My husband and I have been going to Honespun for 8 superb years.

claire g.

Yelp
As we walked in, what looked like to be a 12-14 year old greeted us with attitude. She claimed that we did not have a reservation and was scrambling to look at her reservation system that was written in pen on various pieces of paper. After bringing us to the table, what looked to be a 15 year old little blonde girl greeted us and then did not see us for the rest of the dining experience. Staff seems to be all young and underaged. When walking to the bathroom, there was only one stall and I waited in the dining room to notice really how small it is. Seriously the size of the dining room is as small as a utility closet. Outdoor scenery was babies crying all around and no music playing. Not to mention- all of the cups were cheap styrofoam and such a waste. Seriously just get plastic or glass cups. Other than the negatives, the chicken and waffles were awesome. Good quality breading on the tenders and the waffle was nice and fluffy. Lots of improvements need to be made.

John C.

Yelp
Man I really want to like this place, and I hate giving it a bad review but I'm hoping they will improve because of it. To begin, it took forever to get our food and drinks. We ordered some cocktails and they were both expensive and honestly some of the worst I've had. Tasted like muddled unripe strawberry and vodka. We got the chicken lettuce wraps and they weren't much better. Chopped up chicken sitting in soy sauce. Only reason for 2 stars was the chicken fried chicken, which was good. For the price point we won't be coming back. I'm hoping they can improve on some things because this was pretty disappointing.

Chris M.

Yelp
Food and Service were excellent. No Wild. Turkey in thee bar but plenty of Eddy Lemonade choices.

Shirley S.

Yelp
I loved our server, Claire, she was attentive, and the food and drinks were excellent. I highly recommend the blackberry vodka gimlet made with local dripping springs vodka.

Terry P.

Yelp
Service was great, Avery was very attentive and helpful. Food was delicious , loved the nachos. Will return when I can.

Bonnie B.

Yelp
Maybe the worst new restaurant to pop up on 190 in recent years...presentation, quality, portion, price, staff. You name it - it was not good. However it was the only place open midday at 3pm, hence the two stars. If you know the area, you know it's slim pickings.

Marion P.

Yelp
The best place to get great Manhattens, delicious chicken wings, quick courteous service at decent happy hour prices. Just love this lil country style restaurant.

Jerry K.

Yelp
Came for a second visit with my family. Had the Friday Night Blackened Prime Rib special this time. I expected a slice of Prime Rib and instead got a nicely seasoned large Rib Eye steak cooked on both sides with a baked potato. It was good and cooked fine, but wasn't at all what I expected and came with a surprise price of $50 each that surely wasn't mentioned to be that pricey on the specials board. Shame on me for not asking but I assumed it would be around $30? My Daughter in law ordered a burger well done and it came back undercooked. Whatever but it took another 20 minutes to be fixed - way after we had all finished our meal. Just not a good experience. If you go, get the basic sandwiches on the menu or at least ask for the price. I still like the place and the food is good, but spent over $300 for a meal for 5 people that was so very poorly serviced and a big price surprise. For that price I could have gone to a steakhouse.

Julie B.

Yelp
Awesome spot! Great atmosphere and the service was exceptional. The food was excellent and just the right portions. We had the shrimp tostadas for appetizers and the chicken fried chicken. Absolutely knocked it out of the park with flavor. Personal service topped off the night! Live music and drinks were awesome!!

Daron W.

Yelp
We arrived at 9:50pm on a Saturday. We did NOT know that they were closing at 10pm. They told us that the KITCHEN was closing at 10pm (not the establishment mind you) and that if we wanted to eat we needed to order quickly. Okay, fine. We sat and ordered food quickly, but the server said he was leaving in 10 minutes and was going to bring our food in a to go box. I had to go to the bar to order a beer. To be fair, the food was good and fast but we were basically run out of the place at 10:10. They said sorry but they had to mop the floors. I had to finish my beer and take half of my dinner to eat in the car on the way home. Restaurants are part of the "Hospitality" industry. The treatment was considerably less than hospitable at Homespun.

Samuel G.

Yelp
A gem of a kitchen in a gem of a town. You won't be finding employees shuffling Sysco bags into microwaves at homespun rather as it's name suggests this a legit kitchen that cooks up real food. Certainly a recommended if you find yourself in dripping springs and craving home style cooking. On a side note.I don't even drink but I was impressed by their whiskey collection so if that's something you're into I'd check it out.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Love a local spot like this where you can dress up or down and it just doesn't matter. Where the bartender may have to run outside to clip some fresh herbs for your cocktail. Where the deviled eggs have jalapeños. Now that's texas.

Gabriela I.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! The portions were huge! Even my toddlers chicken strips were big. I live over an hour away and would definitely come back for the amazing food and service! The place was quaint on the inside with very rustic decor. There was a musician playing on the patio and a playground out back. The only reason I give a 4/5 stars is the drinks we had weren't our absolute favorite but the drink menu is large and I am open to trying some more out.

Becky D.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch. Driving home from Fredericksburg we stopped in for a bite. Very welcoming and friendly. Cozy place with lots of atmosphere. Ordered burgers And chicken fried steak and chicken. Well cooked - to order. We all ordered iced tea - served icy in a jar with a full " spare" jar brought a few minutes later. In this Texas heat a very welcome addition. The food was really good. But the service shone. A very nice place we will visit again soon

Donna S.

Yelp
I really do keep trying to love this place! It's nearby, they serve alcohol, they have a good menu...on paper, what's not to like? BUT, I am disappointed every time I visit:( I visited yesterday because we had some friends in town that were here to watch a HS football game (Go DRIP!!) and they enjoy a good margarita and wanted to grab a bite before the game. We sat on the patio, there were plenty of open tables, we even had our own personal fan which ch was good:) we both ordered an old fashioned. Note to restaurant owners or managers, you can purchased large ice molds from Amazon and they will prevent your drinks from getting so watered down. I highly recommend it. I ordered the power bowl with chicken. The flavors were ok, I'm not sure if it was supposed to be completely cold but it was. When we sat down we ordered chips and queso as an app, unfortunately we did not get the app until after all of the food had arrived. We asked about it a few times and the server seemed very irritated by this question. Also when the queso arrived, it was cold. After all of the food arrived, we asked for one more drink and our check. We were in a hurry and didn't want to miss our game. Unfortunately the server brought out everyone's check and forgot to get our drink so we had to wait on that and we ended up being late. We did ask for her to put the drink Togo and she was able to do that. When we left, the front patio was pretty busy and there was even a lady singing for a nice patio parking lot type atmosphere. FYI- we were here on a Thursday. To the owners... it seems like you are getting a fair share of business and that's great! I would recommend the manager walking by tables and asking about food or service so that you can see where your opportunities are and you can address them so that you can continue to stay open and even improve. Thank you for being here, please take a few extra steps to ensure future success:)
