"My favorite meal was the spaghetti with blue prawns, braised fennel, brined/charred jalapenos and garlic at Homewood Restaurant in February. Pasta is a go-to for me, and this dish had the most perfect balance of cream, acidity, and crunch." - Courtney E. Smith

"Homewood offers an excellent introduction to the top-quality producers that make dining out in Texas such a pleasure these days. A strong emphasis on supporting regional growers and producers can lead to some excellent surprises; walk in expecting the usual—say, parker rolls served with chicken drippings and an order of your favorite pasta—and you might find yourself making a major detour. A recent evening featured hearth-cooked local pork chops in a shio-koji marinade." - David Landsel, Diana Oates, Jonathan Thompson

"After the closure of FT33 in 2018, Dallas eagerly awaited Matt McCallister’s return to the city’s dining scene, and it happened triumphantly at Homewood. Eater Dallas’s 2019 Restaurant of the Year is a forward-thinking neighborhood spot that doesn’t skimp on technique or ingredients, it’s one of the city’s best new spots for a bowl of pasta or brunch." - Amy McCarthy

"Chef Matt McCallister is prepping to open his much-anticipated new Oak Lawn restaurant, Homewood, and he sounds emboldened by two things: more kitchen space than at his now-shuttered FT33 and a less restrictive approach than he once had at that acclaimed spot." - Adele Chapin

Food was excellent. Our server was excellent. But the childish hissy fit power trip the sous chef running the pass was having definitely put a damper on the meal and was a disappointment. Eaten here many times and always had a lovely experience. I’ve eaten at the kitchen counter many times, I always enjoy watching the food be made. But since it’s a completely open kitchen just steps from the tables, you can see everything and it got rather uncomfortable watching the sous chef berate the other chefs. For no reason at all. I enjoyed interacting with the other chefs near us, and they were great. I just mostly felt bad for the staff they had to put up with that terrible behavior…esp in a time when restaurants are struggling to have enough help and make enough money and have a field of chefs struggling with mental health issues. I really hope that the head chef and owners don’t tolerate that kind of “leadership” but it doesn’t seem like a one time offense. I’m not sure I will ever come back because I want to support people who are doing things the right way, which is unfortunate because this used to be one of my favorite places in DFW. We left a note with our bill expressing our experience, I hope it got shared with management. It’s not a cheap meal either, I understand wanting to make sure the food is up to standards, but be aware of your surroundings and be respectful no matter what position you’re in.

Incredible Christmas Eve dinner here for our first visit to Homewood. Generous quantities, perfect cook, unique flavors. Menu rotates constantly so it’s truly farm to table. Restaurant feels so homey and connected with a fully exposed kitchen and a ton of fun seating options.

Thoroughly enjoyed Matt McAlister’s newest restaurant. I still put FT33 slightly above this, and Filament shouldn’t even be mentioned with these 2. New location is great, easy parking with valet. Ambiance was like a neighborhood restaurant, upscale casual, our party happened to be seated at the table right by the open kitchen, similar to the Chef’s table at FT33. Service was excellent. We basically had our server order everything for us. We had a vegetarian in our party and our server was on point and ordered just the right amount. The timing of the dishes was spot on. Cocktails were delicious and unique, but not quite up to par with FT33. I prefer more spirit forward drinks, but none of the ones we ordered off the menu were that style. Food was delicious, tapas style. The gnocchi was probably the stand out dish for me. Along with the rolls and the chicken drippings with cheese dip. Would likely come back as the menu is seasonal and I would like to see what else they come up with.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant out, and finally splurged on an amazing dining experience. Very attentive waitstaff, expert sommelier, and talented mixologists! All of the food with the exception of the fish, is locally sourced and full of flavor. This menu is super unique, and created with care. If you want comfort food with a twist, then this is the dining experience for you! My number 1 suggestion: I normally don't eat meat, but knew I wanted to try the Duck Breast, which was incredible.

Tiny place, great service. A little loud, but good vibes and atmosphere. My favorite Caesar although its relatively the highest price item. The place isnt cheap, but not ridiculous. My guest said the Gnocchi was the best ever. My unimaginative choice, the chicken, was delicious hot and juicy. Loved the peas and lettuce accompanied. I did not taste the tartar, but looked great. Large wine list, no popular wines, i guess by design. Ill definitely put this in the rotation.

Homewood is the best restaurant in Dallas. The service, quality and attention to detail are unmatched in the DFW area. The menu may change weekly but I can safely say there is never a bad choice. This is also exciting because going one week and then a few weeks later might present completely different options. If you're looking for where to eat in Dallas, look no further, this is it. @dietproof

Didn't have any expectations going in and ended up blown away. I was mad at myself for eating beignets earlier and not leaving enough room for dinner. Food was amazing, service was excellent. On the pricey side but to me totally worth it. I don't trek out from the burbs often because I detest city driving/parking but I will be making exceptions for meals here.

Absolutely incredible seasonal food. The Citrus and Alpine Cheese Salad is so fresh. The dishes are creative, savory, and beautiful. The service is friendly and fast. Ambiance is unique with deep green accents and a sunken bar that sits lower than most... believe the hype.
