All the food we ordered was incredible. Our server expertly guided us through the menu and made some excellent recommendations regarding wine and appetizers that truly enhanced the whole experience. I highly recommend ordering the whole fish dinner, I haven’t had seafood that fresh since coming to Toronto. Will definitely be back soon to try some of the rotating specials. This restaurant rules and everyone should go here.

This place is close to work so we've been here a couple of times. Their lunch menu is pretty small but some good items. The price is a bit high so I wouldn't go here too often but it's decent otherwise.

Talking about food- we ordered oysters which were great. Crispy chilli prawns which were average and too dry. We ordered fish sandwich which was amazing. And because we don’t eat pork or drink alcohol, we specifically mentioned and ordered Okonomiyaki without bacon and half way through that dish- I found bacon in it. Obviously upset however what made me more upset was how it was dealt with. Server was apologetic however did not even offer or ask for any other dish instead since we didn’t finish the meal. We were just shocked of what we ate and just discussed among ourselves that let’s call for check and she bought the check (we didn’t ask her) - I thought she would come back asking for alternative maybe but instead sort of displayed ‘just leave’ attitude by handing over the check. Wanted to try desserts but we were handed over check instead. Felt like it was our mistake that we asked to remove bacon.

Went by myself for lunch early Sunday at 1130 and easy to walk in. The variety of oysters were nice. The fish patty breakfast burger was great. Good texture and well cooked. Good size for a lunch. The price is amazing. Hope to go back with others so I can try many things.

Had a nice quiet birthday dinner here. Oysters were a fair price and they had 4 options. The creamy clam chowder was very cream and chock full of clams and other seafood. The piece of fish in my fish sandwich was large and perfectly cooked, bun was fresh and the sauce was delicious. The bouillabaisse was my personal favorite dish of the night though my partner didn't enjoy it as much. Plenty of seafood in it that was also all cooked perfectly. My partner thought everything was a touch salty but I found it to be perfect. Service was quick and our server was delightful. Restaurant was clean and it was giving seaside.

The chowder, bread, crab cakes, and cheesecake were delicious!! Unfortunately, the scallop dish was quite undercooked and unpleasant, we couldn’t have more than one each (and at risk of being TMI, it went right through us. Severely upset stomachs for both of us). The waitress was so lovely though, removed it from the bill, and offered a replacement. Would definitely recommend the chowder with extra bread and the crab cakes.

Highly recommended. Have been several times and always excellent. Our starters, Tuna Tataki and the Smoked Fish Pate were superb, as was the Okonomoyaki dish. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and a pleasant ambiance make this my favorite fish restaurant in West Toronto.

Perfection, the ambience, service and of course the food. Every single dish was so good. One of the best seafood restaurants I have been to in Toronto

If I'm in the Junction, I always try to grab takeout or have a meal here. Always friendly service. Stopped off to have a quick bite. Oysters - Yesterday I had 3 different PEI oysters and server had good accurate descriptions each. Fish burger - exactly what I needed to start my long weekend. Well seasoned. Fish perfectly cooked. Great potato salad to balance it.

October 3023 our first visit to Honest Weight Fish House. Wonerful chowder and fish. We will be back soon.

I've been dying to try this highly rated seafood-centric restaurant for YEARS We had: Fish sandwich: this tasted like an elevated fillet o fish! The bread and fish were tender and the dill was light Scallops: these were cooked perfectly, tender inside with a nice sear. The accompaniments made it for a sweet and savoury dish, I really enjoyed this Spicy shrimp: I surprisingly liked all the flavours and crunch that the chili bits gave Tuna Tataki: I felt this was ok not but mind blowing The service was attentive and friendly. Even though the space is quite small, it's a very homey vibe. I'd definitely come back for their chowder and try out their dinner menu next time!

I feel so lucky to be able to try this place out on a Wednesday night. It was packed even though it was near closing time. I was blown away by how amazing the scallop burger was! Perfectly battered and fried scallops on top of their homemade sauces. Everything was well seasoned and appropriately portioned. The okonomiyaki was packed with goodies like caramelized onions, fried egg, ham and salmon. We got the shucked oysters and drinks which aren't shown in the pic, but they were sooo delicious as well. Can't forget about the awesome service and vibes! They were amazing.

Cute little place in the Junction! We don't live nearby so we consulted Yelp for a lunch spot and this was the verdict. We ordered tuna tataki to start. It was delicious from start to finish. I had the clam chowder and BF had the fish sandwich. They were both very good. On the chowder though, I would say it had too much potato and I would have preferred more soup, but it was delicious nonetheless and I really liked the bread that came with it. Would come back!

I picked up from honest weight my original draw was that the owner was willing to close vs putting her staff at risk. Then when I googled the restaurant it has amazing reviews. Great experience. The staff were helpful. Made some modifications over the phone. There's easy parking for a pickup right out front. The burger - unreal. Everyone should try one!! The chowder. Amazing. One of a kind. Smashed potatoes. Fantastic. The okanomi was very good but also very oniony. Go. Support these fantastic folks. And enjoy some a+ food while you're there!!

Great seafood restaurant, everything is fresh , full of flavours, and cooked to perfection. My favourites were the soups. The service was the best.

Celebrated my birthday dinner in Toronto at this excellent restaurant. My friends and I were looking for a late night spot that offered good seafood and a nice ambiance. I'm so happy we turned up at Honest Weight because honestly, it was amazing. This spot serves extremely fresh fish prepared in many ways along with other kinds of seafood including oysters. Our group started off with two different kinds of oysters to share ($3 each) before diving into their lovely homemade bread and fish okonomiyaki. It was a much lighter take on traditional okonomiyaki which uses an extremely sweet sauce to bring out its flavors. Following this, we chose the Rainbow Trout and the Atlantic Cod for our fishes. Both were served over potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and both were fantastic in their own way. I found the trout to be sweeter and that ended up bring my favorite of the two, but it was hard deciding which one was better. Both fish were cooked perfectly and well worth the cost. Service here was phenomenal as well. We first called to check and see what the wait time was and realized that their kitchen would be closing relatively soon (21:30). They were able to still accommodate my party and I and allowed us stay well past their closing time for us to finish our meal. I think that's exceptionally considerate of a management and appreciate them so much. Thanks Honest Weight for such a great meal!

"A-maze-ing" does not do justice to how Amazing this place is. Everything we ordered was fantastic, from the fresh daily oysters, the garlic shrimp and tuna appetizer, and the mussels. Our stand out favourite would be the Honest burger and fish sandwich as both are unique and fresh! They have a nice patio right now for summer, but their indoor seating is not a large space, so reservations are recommended. This place constantly has take out being served as well as a small 'fish market' type area to shop at. Highly, highly, highly recommended!

This place was adorable and everything we ate was insanely good. Staff was friendly, 10/10 would recommend going here.

In addition to selling fresh fish and seafood, this fishmonger is also a restaurant that serves brunch, lunch, and dinner. Unlike other fresh fish markets that also double as a restaurant, some of Honest Weight's menu items creatively draw inspirations from other cultures such as the Japanese okonomiyaki and Polish / Eastern European latkes. I've had okonomiyaki a couple of times in the past, and I must say that the one at Honest Weight was the best one I've had. It was filled with various different fish (salmon, some white fish), cabbage, eggs, green veggies - and topped with the typical okonomiyaki sauce and bonito flakes. You can ask for the kewpie mayo on the side. This savoury Japanese 'fish & vegs pancake' was super delicious, hearty, and filing. The "Smoked Trout Latke Benedict" was also amazing - perfectly crispy latkes (instead of the regular English muffins / bread) were topped with smoked trout, trout roe, shmear, and eggs that were poached to perfection (soft and gooey egg yolk inside). It came with a side of salad. We had "Brussels Sprouts with Crispy Fish (I believe tuna) and Green Onions" as the appetizer / small dish. This was also really good. Brussels sprouts and fish pieces were crispy and flavourful, with a bit of a kick from the chili flakes. The inside has a nice, quaint atmosphere and decorations that resemble a ship dock and the sea. Washrooms are very clean. The location in The Junction might be a bit hard to reach to, but the food makes the further trip well worth it. The restaurant has also been featured as one of the top fish & seafood restaurants in the city by various media outlets. If you're looking for fresh fish & seafood and tasty, satisfying dishes with great customer service, look no further than Honest Weight.

This was such a great brunch spot (they are amazing for any time of day really but this happened to be brunch) We started with some of each of the oysters then the crab cake eggs benny ( I know, genius) and then the seafood okonomiyaki pancake . I'd go back and order one of those just for myself. Best one Ivan ever had! Nice chunks of seafood, the sauce was so flavourful, the egg was perfectly cooked and the smoked/salty bacon really complimented it. Our server was great, everything was delicious (except the negroni that I ordered. Seemed like it wasn't made of the right things. But wasn't enough to lose any stars because everything else was so good. Maybe just stick to beer or wine. They have people's pint beer there. So good!)

When you walk into the restaurant it is quaint. Unfortunately I rated this restaurant 3 stars because I screened through the reviews many saying it is good value but I didn't find that. Not enough seafood component to warrant the price. We ordered the scrambled eggs and Benedict, on recommendation by the server. The eggs were done very well, alone the dishes would stand on its own and beat any breakfast place. The scrambled egg had real crab meat. It was dressed with fish eggs and an over buttered toast that it wasn't toast anymore it was a pretty crunchy. What made the dish brunch was garden salad on the side. $21 The Benedict was cooked soft. Rather than the English muffin underneath it was made on a hash brown. It was also dressed with fish eggs. $21 This place is a nice date location. You will pay the price of a good lunch and still want more. The overall dishes could use more seafood component to warrant the price. Washrooms are located downstairs. Stairs are non standard, so watch out. I had asked the server where the washroom was but she didn't give us warning on the stairs. The washroom was clean. This restaurant does not do extra birthday anything. Because I mentioned to the server and she didn't do much.

Update: Nov/21 I was disappointed with my last visit. The service and quality is still high, but the menu is... frankly boring with limited options and overpriced for what's being offered. We had crab cakes, ceviche, fish sandwich, and the cod dinner. The fish sandwich was very good, but the rest is stuff I make regularly at home and it wasn't any better here. I mean, cod dinner was a filet, 2 pieces of broccolini and smashed potatoes. I was soooo disappointed. For $32!!! The high point was the dessert - pudding and cheesecake. Meh. Won't be coming back any time soon.

What a great find. Wife and I shared the crispy chili shrimp and went with the recommended fish which was artic char. Both were excellent. Especially loved the char. It literally melted in your mouth. Friendly service and excellent quality.

It's only at a reputable seafood establishment that I get raw shucked oysters ($3 each). Indeed, every table at Honest Weight seemed to have a platter of them. Deliciously clean and salty, they were served with the customary red onion mignonette and shaved horseradish. A bottle of hot sauce is also included for an extra zip, but unnecessary for me. What I wouldn't do for another bowl of the Honest chowder ($12) a fantastic combination of lightly creamed broth with tons of clams, a few mussels, potato, fennel, and a hint of white wine. The seafood is left whole and appear to be freshly added to the soup, so they remain plump and sweet. It all comes with warmed Forno Cultura seeded sourdough, which has a nutty curry flavour. You must start with a bowl! On a rainy day, the albacore tuna tataki ($17) was a welcomed ray of sunshine... if the sun is made from glorious pink tuna. The fish is seared on a low temperature so there's only a slight ring around the tuna; the border between cooked and raw barely discernible. While the house-made ponzu could be saltier, the horseradish gives it a lovely kick and the sesame seeds and green onion simple garnishes. With four options for the pick yer fish ($29), the delicate local pickerel seemed like a great summer choice. Although the fish had a beautifully seared crust, it was too salty and overdone - luckily, pickerel is a forgiving fish. The smashed potatoes had such a lovely caramelized crispy crust they put hash browns to shame. Is it wrong I enjoyed the starchy side more than the fish?

Really fresh fish, all perfectly prepared. Five of us shared the fish platter appetizer ahead of our entrees and it was wonderful - salmon, smoked fish, a trout spread, marinated mussels, and delicious bread. The clam chowder had lots of large clams. Each entree was a good size and we left full. Though pricing of some of the dishes can quickly make your lunch a splurgey one... The restaurant is fairly small, so make a reservation if you have a large party. My one criticism would be that our weekday lunch took two hours! It took a while to even receive our water glasses, and our mains took forever to arrive.

Came here for lunch and honestly this is hands downn one of the BEST places for seafood lovers. From the vintage utensils and plates, to the amazing service, and the absolutely delicious and fresh ingredients, this restaurant deserves much more traffic through their door! They always have one item that changes on their menu quite frequently, so I'll have to come back later again :) also, fish sandwich was SOLD OUT when I came here, so I'll have to visit for this popular menu item! Otherwise, I highly recommend the fish pie if you want something warm and comforting for the winter. The fish cake was also quite yummy and soft on the inside!

We ordered a Fish Sandwich, a Crab Legs Cluster, and a Clam Chowder to share. The Fish Sandwich was excellent. The texture of the bread felt like a dense croissant. The skin of the bread had a light crunch. The inside was soft and airy. The bread tasted very good, too. The fish fillet used fish of the day, which was rock fish for my order. The fillet was fresh, tasty and moist. The toppings and the sauce were outstanding. The vinegary slaw that came along was a star on its own. The flavour hit a good balance of sourness and sweetness. It was a great balance to the buttery bread. All the parts together made an awesome sandwich. The portion was adequate as a lunch for one. It was fairly priced at $15 per portion, quality of ingredients and culinary skills. The Crab Legs Cluster was very fresh and a great deal to boot. It was steam cooked just right and presented beautifully on a bed of ice. The portion was generous for $18 compared to many Canadian restaurants. If you don't have easy access to live seafood, I recommend ordering the crab legs cluster. If you do, and you are comfortable with steaming shellfish, this dish is not difficult to cook at home. The Clam Chowder was creamy and delicious. Yet we were disappointed that it was mostly cream with 5 to 6 pieces of clams. At $12, we found it over-priced. While we placed our name on the waitlist for table, I noticed that there were a few empty tables. The two waitresses were busy handling food orders. They didn't clean the tables to move the line for at least 15 minutes. I think the slow turnover contributes partly to the long wait. After we had an opportunity to browse the menu, we had to attempt a few times to wave down a waitress to place orders. The fish sandwich and the crab legs are worthy of 5 stars. The clam chowder and the slow services brought the rating down a bit. The overall rating is 4 stars.

This is a cozy fish market / neighborhood restaurant. Great customer service, with fantastic food to boot. I love the cut old fashioned china they used to plate up dishes. The Newfoundland cod collars with mustard sauce seems like an unusual combination but it works so well. I love fish collar and for some reason it's hard to find on a nyc menu. This is an absolute must! The buckwheat crepe with smoked trout, crispy potato was topped with trout roe and a maple beurre blanc and creme fraiche. What a lovely mix of sweet, smoked, savory flavors and then the crispy and soft textures.

I'm always a little weary about dining out for seafood, but walking into Honest Weight, you can smell the sea. Doubling as a seafood market, Honest Weight has curated a beautiful and balanced menu incorporating inspirations from around the world. I walked in on a quiet Tuesday around 6 pm, and it wasn't very busy. But almost every table were Reserved! Avoiding a heavy dinner, my friend and I decided to share a couple of dishes. Our server was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions and explained the menu. We settled on the tuna tataki and the clams. Oh and some beautiful bread with olive oil - can't miss that! The tuna tataki was seasoned perfectly! And the clams... so simple, but so delightful. I am really looking forward to coming back for a proper meal. The prices are reasonable for the quality and freshness, and you shouldn't compromise on that when it comes to seafood. An honestly delicious seafood experience!

Gotta come here if you like fish. We came here for a late lunch on our way to the airport. No problem getting a table around 3 on a Friday. They only have 2 beers on draft which were so-so but other bottled options. Great selection of fresh fish to choose from. She said they pan fry all the pick yer fish options and finish in the oven. Served on a bed of smashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. I opted for the Arctic Char which was awesome. The skin was crisped nicely and the fish was moist and perfectly done. Love the charred brussels as well. Everything about this dish was just good. Would love to come back and try more options if I find myself back in the area.

This is my first time having a seafood brunch and I couldn't be happier with my experience at Honest Weight ! //THE ATMOSPHERE// I love the bright, relaxed but refined feel. I also enjoyed that half of the restaurant had a counter area dedicated to selling their fresh seafood produce. Truly felt like a sea-to-table experience ! The servers were also very chill and conversational, and provided amazing recommendations while never leaving our glasses empty. //THE FOOD// THE FISH PLATE (4/5)- my favourite way to go about this dish is to add a generous spread of schmear (the white cream cheese) on a piece of toast, topped with a small piece of lettuce, slice of gravlax cured salmon, picked onions, and VOILA ! The marinated mussels were deliciously juicy and fresh. The 'hot' smoked fish was actually cold and I didn't know how the gribiche (cod egg mayonnaise) fit in with the plate since it often overpowered the taste of the fish...perhaps it's more better utilized with a sandwich dish. SMOKED TROUT LATKE EGGS BENEDICT (5/5)- super heavy & rich béarnaise sauce over a perfectly poached egg and a substantial slice of smoked fish. I ALWAYS appreciate it when a restaurant serves an eggs benny on something other than an English muffin, so the bed of latke was awesome! It soaked up all the yolk and béarnaise sauce (similar to hollandaise but without the lemon acidity) while providing some nice hashbrown-like texture. The fish roe and smoked trout added that seafood element that worked incredibly well with this brunch classic. Even the salad was refreshing and was a nice break from the heavy eggs benny. //OVERALL// I'm super pleased at the quality of fresh and cured/smoked seafood dishes for a ~$20 brunch! I'll definitely be back for more !

We don't usually venture so far west for dinner anymore, but were in the neighbourhood for a Saturday night party and decided to drop in for dinner. We ordered oysters, the okonomiyaki, the bouillabaisse, a few glasses of wine and a panna cotta with apple and hazelnut for dessert. The food was outstanding and the wine list nice and varied. Especially loved the bouillabaisse (still dreaming of it and the heavenly bread served alongside it) and panna cotta. Service was nice, but I was a bit put off when the server asked if my (different race) husband and I wanted separate bills. We were sharing all our food and also wear wedding rings, so this struck me as very odd.

I had a very unfortunate experience with this restaurant this week, which is sad because I really like their food and generally been a big promoter of theirs. We order two dozen oysters for take out which we were told would be three different varietals marked. When we unpacked the order it was 18 oysters unmarked. Small mistake, not a big deal, but unfortunate for us, as we showed up to a dinner party without the oysters we needed. First, the restaurant doesn't answer their phone, so their was no way to actually Fix the issue in real time. Again, everyone has staffing issues, so it is what it is. When we did reach someone hours later we were first told repeatedly by an arrogant condescending woman that we were only charge for 18 oysters; both wrong and not the actual problem. The onshift manager 'Gabby' was very rude/condescending and would just say there was 'literally nothing they could do' (there are a lot of things they could have done) other than have us drive back to get the six oysters we paid for and didn't get. Obviously we weren't going to do that hours later. Admittedly, when she told me this I said that's a bullsh*t solution. To which she called me out for swearing (which I did) and I apologized. I asked Gabby if I could speak to the store manager or get their contact information and she refused. I was clearly disappointed with the interaction and left a voicemail on the main line asking to speak with a store manager. The next part is mind blowing. The owner, Victoria Bazan, called me back, clearly very angry and agitated. So much so, I asked her if she wanted to go first, she didn't. I explained my experience, she then launched into me about how she knew everything already and that I had been "abusive" to her staff. She then specifically referenced, by name, legal counsel of my company and said she would get them involved. This was a very basic customer service discussion and she looked me up and threatened to try to get me fired. It was such a crazy escalation for a simple customer service disagreement, I was dumbfounded and didn't even know how to respond. I'm at a complete loss for words.

Tried this place for the first time and it did not disappoint! If you are a seafood lover, this cozy restaurant in the junction is a must try! The food: Everything was shared between 2 people. We started off with a dozen oysters; tuxedo, shigoku and kumamoto. They were all perfectly shucked! The oysters came with 2 wedges of lemon, fresh horseradish, hot sauce and a vinaigrette. My friend was a little disappointed that there weren't more sauces to choose from, but I think that's more personal preference than fault on the restaurant. The oysters were all so fresh that all you really needed was a touch of lemon. Although they were all so good, we needed to do a second round of the shigoku oysters. Nom noms. They also had malpeques in stock, but we opted to not eat those as they are commonly found at other restaurants. The oysters were $3.00 shucked. Definitely worth it. Next, we had the bouillabaisse. I loved everything about this dish. It came with mussels, clams, shrimp, white fish, this buttery bread with just the right amount of crust that came topped with a red pepper dip/paste, saffron and tomato broth. The whole dish was very light, but filling. The portions were right, but I wish it came with more mussels than clams (also just preference). Those mussels were the best I've ever had!They were really plump and had a nice texture to them. This dish was simply perfection. I will be craving this until we return. The dish costed a well deserved $30. Finally, the fish sandwich that came with coleslaw on the side + a lemon wedge. Perch, lettuce, tartar sauce all on a buttery fluffy bun. The bun looked like a baguette, but I'll call it a bun since there was no hard crust. I was thinking to myself, how could this top off what we just ate. After the first bite, I knew I had to come back to try more items off the menu. Each ingredient in the sandwich was just the right amount and flavour. Although, you don't get tired of each bite, half of the sandwich was just enough for me. I may order this sandwich again, but likely with a different fish. They had a nice drink menu that we didn't order off of. I would definitely order a glass of wine the next time I'm back. Being the foodies that we are we went for gluttony over class (there will be more room for food/calories if we don't have alcohol). The service: The girls serving us were really friendly and informative about their menu. We arrived before 5pm, so we were told we could order the items off the wall and they will bring it to our table. After 5pm, full dinner service starts. Aside from the ordering, we received full service anyway. The girls came and changed our plates after each "course" which I really like (because who wants to mix oyster shell bits with their other food). We had our water refilled without having to ask. Overall, I felt like they were there when they needed to be, and they were away when we needed space. Which is just the kind of service I enjoy during a meal. No one was snobby or pretentious which made us feel very comfortable. The vibe was just right. The area: Street parking (green p) is available at a small cost. I think I paid around $2.00. The place I parked is free after 6pm Monday to Saturday. Overall experience: If you're craving delicious seafood and down to throw down some money, this is absolutely the place to splurge. p.s. their menu changes often, so i will be back to try more options. Stopped by because I had a long layover in Toronto and it had good reviews: a solid decision on my part. I had the Okonomiyaki which is a Japanese egg dish made in the form of a pancake and stuffed with everything delicious: smoked salmon with other assorted veggies and smothered in a fantastic sauce. It's a bit messy, but worth the fumbling through the cutting process. The oysters were come from different areas of Canada and the two I had were both very fresh. The workers will explain the flavor profiles so you can find the right taste you're looking for. The space feels like a trendy fish market/small restaurant complete with fresh frozen seafood behind a glass so you can select exactly what you want prepared. It's located in a cute vibrant town that's a lot quieter than the city center.

Went over to honest weight on a lazy evening because we were craving some good whole fish. Located in a funky neighbourhood, the restaurant is clean, small, & has quick helpful service. The plates & cutlery had traditional Italian style. started with some bread - it was filled with a variety of seeds & grains (it was chewy, but paired with the olive oil tasted good). Shared the branzino (10/10)- the fish was cooked to perfection, served with brussel sprouts (7/10) & smashed potato (7/10). Would definitely recommend, & want to go back to try other things on the menu!

Fresh, good seafood at a reasonable price. The restaurant has a cozy, casual feel and just the right size. The Brandade was amazing! The signature salad had a wonderful smokiness to it and was also very good. I am very picky about my seafood but everything was up to standard-it was definitely worth making the trip from downtown Toronto.

Honest Weight is a cute, homey indie seafood restaurant and wholesale in the Junction. It is worth the trek to the Junction for a meal at Honest Weight. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was casual. It has the feel of your neighbourhood, wood-clad seafood shop where the menu is drawn up on chalkboards. To start, I had some fresh shuck oysters ($3/eac). They were delicious and fresh - it was like tasting the ocean. For the main, I had the okonomiyaki ($16) which is probably one of the best I had in Toronto. It was savoury. The textures and flavours were on point. The rock fish used in making the okonomiyaki was fresh. For dessert, I had the poached pear with chocolate pudding ($9). It was the perfect way to end a great meal. I also ordered the homemade sodas ($4) which was quite good. I would highly recommend Honest Weight if you are a seafood. The prices are a bit high, but you are getting quality food.

Really enjoyed our experience here. Our party of 4 arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday and were seated right away. Since it's such a small spot and they don't take reservations, getting here early was a wise decision. It's a really cute, no-frills space and all the fish and seafood were dynamite. For apps we ordered delicious seared tuna, fried soft shell crab (totally addictive), smoked clams/mussels in a beautiful broth and quality bread with olive oil. For mains we all opted for the "Pick Yer Fish" ($28)...I believe there was a good 8 choices or so. All were prepared perfectly! For dessert I tried a maple syrup cakey pudding thing that was also delightful. Fish and seafood lovers, get your butts over here pronto.

Hiya! So I came for lunch (first time dining in at Honest Weight) and the service was exceptionally lovely and the food good buuuut . . . Sadly over priced. $18 for two tablespoons of ceviche? Gotta pay for bread? Listen I'll be back (likely for dinner vs what is a minimum $40 lunch - that's just what I paid for ceviche and a glass of wine!) because quality. Just wasn't ready for that price point.

I love Honest Weight. It's a cosy, unpretentious place to get great seafood. Came on a Friday evening around 6 pm and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. There's limited seating and we weren't sure if we would have to wait (they don't take reservations). Service was pleasant but not overbearing. We started off with a sea bream crudo - dressed only with olive oil, flecks of sea salt and finely chopped fresh herbs. Simple, yet delicious. We got the okonomiyaki of the day, made with Ontario rainbow trout and Icelandic cod. It was extremely hearty and filling - unlike other okonomiyaki I've had, it's chock full of fish, shredded cabbage and yam, with just enough batter to hold it all together. It was dressed with kewpie mayo and bonito flakes, which gave the dish a wonderful umami flavour. Since Honest Weight is a fish shop, there are a variety of fish available for purchase, and they also have a "pick your fish" menu option, where you select any fish to be cooked and served to you. We opted for John Dory from New Zealand. It was perfectly seared and served atop a bed of rapini and smashed potatoes. For dessert, we ordered some kind of vanilla cake pudding baked with maple syrup and served with a side of chantilly cream. It's mildly reminiscent of the maple pudding chômeur that's served at Au Pied de Cochon. Sweet, but not overly so. A nice end to a great meal. I think the portion size is quite reasonable and food is priced well. I wish it wasn't so far out of the way for me, or I'd come back more often. It's worth the trip, though, for high quality seafood.

I have heard about Honest Weight from multiple sources, in particular from a waiter at Chase. I knew that Honest Weight supplied seafood to a plethora of fine restaurants in the city so we had to check it out. The restaurant was very cozy upon stepping inside. Weirdly, the menu was written on cute little green chalkboards at the back of the restaurant as the majority of the menu changes frequently based on their seafood availability. We ordered the fish sandwich and scallop mousseline at the bar then got seated. The fish sandwich made with the fish of the day, rockfish, was delicious and paired perfectly with the housemade dill aioli on a crispy bun and a side of coleslaw. It was seasoned very well. MMmmMMmmMmm :) The scallop mousseline looked like beautiful food art and was tasty as well. However, my partner ate the entire dish in two bites. For 16 dollars, we expected it to be bigger than 2 inches in diameter from the description. It reminded us of dishes at Alo which my partner believes does not fit with the theme of Honest Weight. Overall, Honest Weight is a fun and non-pretentious place to go for good seafood. The only downside is that the dishes were overpriced. Fish sandwiches at the Fish Store in College are just as good but are almost half the price. That being said, Honest Weight is a great concept and is worth checking out!

Seafood is excellent here!! It's so fresh and the quality is great. It's not a big restaurant and I like the music there.

First of all this place doesn't take reservations. When we arrived the server ensured us that we were next in line. However I saw three other parties seated before us. They were visibly confused when it came to seating their customers. In their defense it was mothers day and I'm sure they weren't ready for the volume. We started off by ordering their sodas (lychee and guava). It was refreshing. Oysters arrived shortly after (2 kinds from BC and 2 kinds from NB). The ones from BC were some of the best I've ever had. The shuck wasn't the greatest - it wasn't properly detached and shards from the shell were inside. The clam chowder was just OK. I found it too runny for my liking. The okonomiyaki was excellent. It delivered on all fronts. The seared garlic shrimp on the other hand was void of all flavor. The pick yer fish was nothing special. I would go back for the oysters and okonomiyaki. But only if it's not busy.

The best restaurant in Toronto. Perfect service, perfect food, perfect wine & beer list, perfect atmosphere. The fish counter adds a nice touch. Overall, simply beautiful.

Fresh seafood. Fresh oysters. Choose your own fish! This place has this way cost fish vibe to it. The guy who helped yes looks straight out of hipster Halifax. But this place is serious about seafood. They have these oysters that I can't say I've tried before from east coast. The seafood chowder is delicious but it doesn't have the creamy texture, so great though. The best thing I ate? The fish sandwich. Seems they switch out the fish depending on what I guess is fresh. This time, haddock. Super moist, flaky, and absolutely the most delicious fish sandwich I've had. What else can you get here, if you just want fresh fish to make at home, you can get it here as well. A person came in looking for snapper and had a dish in mind. Staff here asked, well tell me about this dish and then came up with recommendations based on the dish. He was super nice. Would come back here just to get that sandwich!

I came here with a couple of friends who were intent on watching their calories, but not my wallet. This place isn't expensive, not considering the quality of what you get, but it's not cheap, either. We were somehow able to snag the last table of four without a reservation on a Friday night. The servers were really friendly, particularly one who was back at school and was happy to talk to us about her major in sexual studies whenever she had a moment. The food is fresh. VERY FRESH. They have a seafood counter, where the server will go through your options for the evening. My group of friends are pedantic jerks, so we appreciate the ability to study the sheen on the skin, the bounciness of the flesh and the clearness of the eyes. We chose the halibut collar, okonomiyaki, the bouillabaisse, and the grilled branzino. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. NOTHING HAD DAIRY. We scraped every bit of food off the bones and plates and left happy. I can't wait to go back.

In a city devoid of strong seafood options, Honest Weight stands as a uniquely strong option. A lot of this is purely geographical - Toronto is not surrounded by an abundance of seafood, and the cities in Canada that are do not directly ship their goods to Toronto. Rather, they will go to New York first, where demand is stronger. Obviously, this does not hold for all toronto restaurants: Actinolite, for example, stands as an example of a restaurant that directly sources from nearby farms. What makes Honest Weight so great are not actually the whole fish options - what's incredible is how they use other ingredients to compliment, and eventually amplify the taste of their seafood. For restaurants like this, I pay close attention to the sauces. Less prudent restaurants will poorly balance flavours - creating a sauce that is too rich, or too salty. To my surprise, Honest Weight's sauces were, for the most part, immaculate. Make sure you order the chowder, which is as good as anything I've had in New England. Their bread, from Forno Cultura (across the street), is also fantastic. All these things make their "smaller" and "larger" sections more impressive than the whole fish options. The whole fish is fine - you won't get an argument from me regarding a nice cooked fish, but I was much less blown away eating these. Perhaps it's my taste - rather than simply cooked fish, what makes Western-style fish dishes to me are the accompaniments, or the additional ingredients.

This is one of my favourite places in the junction. It's delicious, great atmosphere and absolutely fantastic service. I have not had a bad dish at this place......from mussels with gorgeous soft bread, baby clams, oysters and the okonomiyaki is out of this world. The brunch is equally as good. I love this place

Everything about this restaurant is marvelous, as all other reviewers have attested. Fresh seafood of various kinds, creatively and lovingly prepared, and pleasantly served. Can't get much better. All feels like visiting a thriving shop in the Maritimes. Dishes range from informal fish sandwiches to elegant preparations of oysters, scallops, and whole fishes. Unique dishes like okonamyaki may be the best in Canada. Simple selection of well chosen wines and beers. The place and menu are small, which is a marvel too even if the upshot is a restriction in the variety of dishes available at one time and the numbers of people that can be served. The location is east of the main dining area in the Junction, but the area is expanding with various new facilities.

my favorite of all the meals we had on a short weekend trip to toronto recently. you MUST love seafood if you come here, there's just no way to avoid it because there is seafood in literally every single thing on the menu. good thing bf and i are huge seafood fanatics. we ordered oysters, pick yer fish, and gulf shrimp. literally everything was delicious, potentially because copious amounts of butter was used (mmmmmmm). each dish was completely satisfying, but if i had to pick one as my favorite, i'd have to go with the gulf shrimp. very rarely do i get the joy of eating such plump shrimp that are this big in size. you know it's big when you can easily use a fork and knife to peel the shrimp, rather than using your own fingers. it can be really easy to slightly overcook jumbo sized shrimp, but these were perfect. peel, dip it in lotsa buttah, put in mouth, make stomach happy, and all is right in the world. repeat until all shrimp are gone. the pick yer fish is a close second. there were something like 5 choices that day and i don't think we could've gone wrong with any of them. trying to be adventurous, we chose a fish that we had never heard of before (unfortunately don't remember the name) - it turned out to be a flaky white fish which is perfect for this type of grilled filet cooking. the grilled veggies and potato also add to the overall flavor of the dish and each bite. and what can i say about oysters? oysters are oysters - you either love 'em or hate 'em. and we love them! the two types we tried that day were both on the bigger side with a balanced and clean finish. very intimate but low key setting. excellent service from simply some of the friendliest people around. highly recommended!

Had the Okonomiyaki yesterday for lunch. It was fantastic. I had a taste of the surf clam as well, which was excellent. Fish sandwiches looked like great portions. Hoping to come back to try more!

We were looking for a new spot for seafood and some of the reviews from this place created a mirage in the middle of the asfault desert. The place smelled so much like not fresh fish, but the beautiful and smiley girl attending in the counter made us trust in the quality of the products, so we ordered a couple of oysters, the Cajun shrimps, and the steamed shellfish. The oysters from the West Coast were kind of fishy, and they just gave one topping (garlic with vinegar). The oysters from the East Coast felted fresher and we liked them better. The shrimps were like 4, with 4 pieces of corn, and they weren't fresh at all. It took me minutes to peel them just to loose pieces of valuable shrimp that couldn't get separated from the shell... Buuu... The bread they provided was really good and was the perfect complement for the shellfish, that I would say is the perfect tapa for having a cold one in this Summer times. It had cubes of bacon and the mussels were really meaty. Nothing special but the bread and the shellfish. We would go back just to ask where they buy their bread... And an awesome birdy told me it's from Forno Cultura (609 King West).

Excellent seafood, WoW! Fresh and great options at a fair price for what your getting. Everything was delicious. All up to par taste wise. I was sad to see the last bites go on each plate! Even the side dish with your fish of smashed potatoes and rapini was great. Small venue with only a few tables. Would imagine you'd want to reserve a table rather than just show up (went for dinner). I will absolutely be returning to eat my way around this menu.

I have been looking forward to trying this place and it did not disappoint! The clam chowder was the best. The fish plate, oysters and the bouillabaisse were also a delight! Francis took care of us and she was such a gem.

Met and exceeded mine and my wife's expectations. Though you must love seafood it's also great if you just like just fish. Service was great and friendly. The whole trout was amazing. Much larger than either of us expected so we were lucky we shared it. Spectacularly cooked - not dry in the least. Will go back and try another dish.

Best brunch in the city. Literally. The soft scramble crab was magnificent. Oyster were on point as expected and some nice Tawse Riesling to wash it all down.
